Fired Justice Department Employee Sets up Gofundme

A Department of Justice employee who helped orchestrate a protest against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen has been fired and is now asking supporters to donate money for her living expenses and legal fees for a potential lawsuit.

Allison Hrabar’s background was first reported by The Daily Caller News Foundation following an incident where she and other activists chased Nielsen out of a restaurant in June. After the incident, Hrabar told a Washington Examiner reporter that she worked for the federal government and was protected by the First Amendment.

“We aren’t the only ones who can do this. Anyone who sees Kirstjen Nielsen at dinner, anyone who sees anyone who works at DHS and [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] at dinner can confront them like this, and that’s what we hope this will inspire people to do,” Hrabar said at the time.

The Justice Department did not renew Hrabar’s contract Monday following evidence — some of which was discovered by TheDCNF — that she was organizing protests for the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America during her time at work as a paralegal for the DOJ. . .

“When I got to work on September 24, I was met at the door by security and forced to pack up my office. I was told, again, that this was merely a non-renewal of my term,” she added. “I don’t regret standing up for immigrants unable to advocate for themselves. My only concern is that the Assistant Attorney General’s decision to force me out of a job has left me without insurance to cover my high medical costs, and without an income to cover the legal fees needed to fight back.” (Read more from “Fired Justice Department Employee Sets up Gofundme” HERE)

Whoa, Nelly: WSJ Columnist Notices Something Odd About WAPO’s Initial Report on Kavanaugh Accuser

Okay—so, the Brett Kavanaugh drama is heating up. Christine Blasey Ford has lobbed a grenade at Judge Brett Kavanaugh, accusing him of a drunken episode in which he attempted to sexually assault her at a party some 30-plus years ago. Kavanaugh was 17-years-old. It’s a serious charge—and it should be dissected before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Give Ms. Ford her day to detail this episode…if she can find the time. The committee and Ford’s lawyers, one of which, Debra Katz, is publicly anti-Trump (she’s and more of an operative) are still trying to hash out the details. Par for the course, right; it’s all about getting that delay. Delay for the midterms in an effort to run out the clock on this Supreme Court nomination. Democrats think they can increase their weak position on the Hill by weaponizing a possibly false charge to win more clout in D.C.

Ford’s story is shaky from the get-go: a 30-plus year allegation, which Kavanaugh has denied. Then, Mark Judge and Patrick Smyth (aka “PJ”) have straight up said they have no recollection of the night in question, the incident, and even the party itself. Ms. Ford says a party happened, but cannot remember whose house it was, how she got there, or how the whole gathering came about. But first, there’s some news about The Washington Post story that juiced this story into hyperspace. It was the piece in which the details of the account are explained in detail, and Ford’s name was revealed to the country. . .

Ford said she told no one of the incident in any detail until 2012, when she was in couples therapy with her husband. The therapist’s notes, portions of which were provided by Ford and reviewed by The Washington Post, do not mention Kavanaugh’s name but say she reported that she was attacked by students “from an elitist boys’ school” who went on to become “highly respected and high-ranking members of society in Washington.” The notes say four boys were involved, a discrepancy Ford says was an error on the therapist’s part. Ford said there were four boys at the party but only two in the room.

Okay—well, she didn’t tell anyone before her couple’s therapy in 2012. Uh, that’s a lie. She reportedly told someone days after this allegation because Christina King Miranda said she remembered it being the talk of the school, though she doesn’t know Ford and has no first-hand knowledge of the account. She believes Ford, however. Uh, that’s tells us nothing, lady. . .

Now, Kimberley Strassel had a lengthy thread on Twitter last night, where she obtained an email through a source from reporter Emma Brown to Mark Judge, who was cited in the account. Strassel cites one part of that email:

In addition to Brett Kavanaugh and Mark Judge, whom she called acquaintances she knew from past socializing, she recalls that her friend Leland (last name then was Ingham, now Keyser) was at the house and a friend of the boys named PJ.”

Democrats Have to Be Horrified as Avenatti Announcement Wrecks Their Entire Case

By Conservative Tribune. . .As The New Yorker was publishing yet another uncorroborated allegation against Kavanaugh, this time involving a party during his years at Yale, Stormy Daniels’ lawyer was busy getting in on the attention. In a tweet, he said he had evidence of malfeasance by both Kavanaugh and his high school friend which sounded an awful lot like a conspiracy theory.

“I represent a woman with credible information regarding Judge Kavanaugh and Mark Judge,” Avenatti’s first tweet began.

. . .However, this really does take the cake. Apparently, during a background check of Kavanaugh, both the FBI and the Trump administration completely missed that a judge on the D.C. Circuit Court was running a secret drug-and-alcohol gang rape group during high school which he decided it would be a great idea to allude to in his yearbook.

This was the eventual problem with the circus strategy the Democrats have pursued with Kavanaugh, both before and after Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations came to light: Attention-seeking tactics attract attention-seekers. Ford and Kavanaugh’s newest accuser, Deborah Ramirez, aren’t prima facie ridiculous, even if their accounts seem felicitously timed and are backed up by a grand total of zero corroboration. . .

This is the kind of insanity the Kavanaugh hearings will eventually devolve into unless the Democrats back away. If they were to back down, of course, that would mean Kavanaugh would sail through. That’s not likely to happen. But if Avenatti turns this into a conspiracy hunt, he’s going to end up tarnishing the credibility of the entire strategy. Third Kavanaugh Accuser, a Former U.S. Mint Employee, ‘100 Percent Credible,’ Avenatti Says

By USA Today. A third woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct will come forward in the next 48 hours, according to Michael Avenatti, the lawyer for adult film star and alleged President Donald Trump mistress Stormy Daniels.

Following a Monday hearing over Daniels’ lawsuit against Trump and his former lawyer Michael Cohen over a hush-money deal, Avenatti told reporters he has been hired by a former employee of both the State Department and the U.S. Mint who has information of a sexual nature about Kavanaugh and his high school friend Mark Judge.

“It will relate to how they behaved at countless house parties,’’ Avenatti said.

Avenatti also told reporters the woman, whom he did not name, has multiple security clearances and will “literally risk her life’’ by coming forward. He called her “100 percent credible,’’ saying she has multiple witnesses to corroborate her story and would be willing to take a polygraph if Kavanaugh does as well.

Avenatti didn’t disclose how his client met Kavanaugh and Judge or reveal details on the timing of the alleged misconduct. (Read more from “Third Kavanaugh Accuser, a Former U.S. Mint Employee, ‘100 Percent Credible,’ Avenatti Says” HERE)

Here’s Why This NFL Star Claims the League Is Getting ‘Soft’

By Smokeroom. Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews has some choice words for the NFL.

After getting his third call of the season for roughing the passer, Matthews accused the NFL’s new rules of being too soft.

“Unfortunately this league’s going in a direction I think a lot of people don’t like. I think they’re getting soft,” Matthews said, per ESPN. “The only thing hard about this league is the fines they levy down on guys like me who play the game hard.”

Americans to Kneeling NFL Players: Just Do It

By True New Jersey. . .Two-thirds of U.S. voters disagree with and Trump and say NFL players have a right to kneel during the national anthem to protest police brutality in minority communities.

That’s according to a poll released Thursday by Quinnipiac University, which said that voters backed the players’ right to protest, 67 percent to 30 percent.

While defending the players’ right to protest, voters said they didn’t like their tactics, splitting 47 percent to 47 percent on whether they should kneel during the anthem.

“‘Take a knee, it’s your right,’ American voters tell NFL players,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. “But many voters who agree with the right to protest disagree with the actual protests.” (Read more from “Americans to Kneeling NFL Players: Just Do It” HERE)

Trump to Meet Rosenstein Amid Reports He Offered to Resign

By The Daily Caller. President Donald Trump will meet Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein Thursday to discuss reports that he floated the idea of secretly recording him and invoking the 25th Amendment, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Monday.

Rosenstein’s position became precarious Friday after alleged comments of his from May 2017 surfaced in The New York Times. Rosenstein allegedly floated the idea of wearing a wire into the Oval Office and attempting to wrangle a cabal of cabinet officials to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Trump from office.

“At the request of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, he and President Trump had an extended conversation to discuss the recent news stories,” Sanders said. “Because the President is at the United Nations General Assembly and has a full schedule with leaders from around the world, they will meet on Thursday when the President returns to Washington, D.C.”

Sanders’ statement comes amid a flurry of reports that Rosenstein offered to resign his position and expected to be fired. A senior administration official told The Daily Caller that Rosenstein had expressed his willingness to resign. The official did not know if the resignation was accepted by the White House. Rod Rosenstein the Subject of Renewed Impeachment Chatter on Capitol Hill

By Washington Examiner. There’s talk of an impeachment vote should Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein refuse to testify this week.

Addressing the fallout in recent days related to the No. 2 official at the Justice Department, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said he and a colleague are ready to make a move in the name of oversight.

“Any member of Congress can call up Rosenstein’s impeachment and it must be voted on in two days,” Gaetz said Monday evening on Fox News. “If we don’t have Rosenstein in the witness chair, [Rep.] Mark Meadows and I are prepared to do just that and keep Congress in town to do the oversight work.” He referred to the use of a privileged motion, which under House rules would require a vote two days after it being filed.

So far the push to get Rosenstein to testify appears to be only talk. Rep. Jim Jordan, a key ally of President Trump, tweeted earlier in the day that Rosenstein needs to testify before the House Judiciary Committee about reports that emerged last week.

News concerning Rosenstein shook the political landscape Monday when initial reports indicated that Rosenstein had verbally offered his resignation as he expected to be fired. But after visiting the White House, Rosenstein returned to the Justice Department in the early afternoon, still with his job, and a statement from the White House saying he and President Trump will meet Thursday. Kavanaugh Strikes Back at Accusers

By The Daily Caller. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh vowed not to bow out of his confirmation process after two women leveled decades-old sexual assault allegations against him in a Fox News interview that will air Monday evening.

“I’m not going to let false accusations drive us out of this process, and we’re looking for a fair process where I can be heard and defend my integrity — my lifelong record of promoting dignity and equality for women … I’m not going anywhere,” he declared.

Kavanaugh’s TV sit-down with his wife comes hours after he issued a similar defiant letter.

“I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process. The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out. The vile threats against my family will not drive me out. The character assassination will not succeed,” Kavanaugh vowed in the letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Kavanaugh will testify before the judiciary committee Thursday alongside his accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. (Read more from “Kavanaugh Strikes Back at Accusers” HERE)

Brett Kavanaugh Gets Personal, Reveals Key Detail About His Sexual History: He Was a Virgin in High School

By The Daily Caller. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanugh revealed more details of his own sexual history, reaching as far back as high school and college, during an exclusive interview with Fox News host Martha MacCallum on Monday.

“I did not have sexual intercourse or anything close to sexual intercourse in high school or for many years thereafter and the girls from the schools I went to and I were friends,” Kavanaugh said.

“So you’re saying through all these years in question you were a virgin?” MacCallum pushed back.

He confirmed his statement saying, “That’s correct.” (Read more from “Brett Kavanaugh Gets Personal, Reveals Key Detail About His Sexual History: He Was a Virgin in High School” HERE)

Activist Federal Staffer Who Said She ‘Can’t Really Get Fired’ No Longer Working at DOJ

Resistance leader Allison Hrabar said in an undercover video that as a federal employee, she couldn’t be fired, but she may have overstated her case.

Project Veritas released a statement Monday from Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores indicating that Ms. Hrabar, formerly a federal paralegal, has either resigned or been dismissed. . .

In an undercover video released last week, Ms. Hrabar described her work for the anti-Trump resistance as a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, which included running license plate numbers at work to find the address of a lobbyist.

She admitted that she was not permitted to do so “officially.” Other DSA members said that she used the department’s Lexis Nexis system to ferret out the addresses of protest targets. . .

Ms. Hrabar was also part of a band of activists that chased Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen from a Mexican food restaurant in June. (Read more from “Activist Federal Staffer Who Said She ‘Can’t Really Get Fired’ No Longer Working at DOJ” HERE)

FBI: Murders, Violent Crimes Dipped in 2017

By Washington Examiner. The number of murders and other violent crimes committed dipped slightly last year, according to new crime statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Monday.

The number of cases of manslaughter and murder decreased 0.7 percent in 2017 from the previous year, the data show. And though rapes rose 3 percent and aggravated assault rose 1 percent, overall violent crimes dropped 0.2 percent — numbers that suggest the rise of crime in recent years is ending.

“Crime declined nationwide last year, consistent with our earlier analyses of 2017 data in the nation’s 30 largest cities,” Ames Grawert, senior counsel for the Justice Program at the Brennan Center for Justice in New York, said in a statement. “That’s the good news. The bad news is that even while crime is falling, the number of Americans incarcerated remains near-record highs. Now is the time to address the problem.” (Read more from “FBI: Murders, Violent Crimes Dipped in 2017” HERE)

New Accuser’s ‘Witnesses’ Already Rejecting Her Story

Deborah Ramirez is the second person to accuse Brett Kavanaugh of sexual impropriety. And, much like the first one, she probably should have picked her witnesses somewhat better.

Ramirez, a 53-year-old Yale graduate who now lives in Colorado, according to USA Today, a made her accusation in a piece written by Ronan Farrow and Jane Meyer for The New Yorker, which was published on Sunday.

“She was at first hesitant to speak publicly, partly because her memories contained gaps because she had been drinking at the time of the alleged incident,” the piece claims.

“In her initial conversations with The New Yorker, she was reluctant to characterize Kavanaugh’s role in the alleged incident with certainty.

“After six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, Ramirez said that she felt confident enough of her recollections to say that she remembers Kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.”

Much like the problems with Christine Blasey Ford’s accusation, however, the sources Ramirez gave The New Yorker didn’t necessarily back up her story. Three students in particular gave a starkly different version of what happened.

“In a statement, two of those male classmates who Ramirez alleged were involved in the incident, the wife of a third male student she said was involved, and three other classmates, Dino Ewing, Louisa Garry, and Dan Murphy, disputed Ramirez’s account of events,” Farrow and Meyer wrote.

Ewing, Garry and Murphy were arguably the most damning for Ramirez’s claims, especially because they weren’t accused of anything.

“We were the people closest to Brett Kavanaugh during his first year at Yale,” the three wrote in a letter to The New Yorker.

“He was a roommate to some of us, and we spent a great deal of time with him, including in the dorm where this incident allegedly took place. Some of us were also friends with Debbie Ramirez during and after her time at Yale.

“We can say with confidence that if the incident Debbie alleges ever occurred, we would have seen or heard about it — and we did not. The behavior she describes would be completely out of character for Brett.

“In addition, some of us knew Debbie long after Yale, and she never described this incident until Brett’s Supreme Court nomination was pending. Editors from the New Yorker contacted some of us because we are the people who would know the truth, and we told them that we never saw or heard about this.”

There are a number of other inconsistencies within the piece, but this arguably is the most damaging.

After all, these were some of the people who arguably new Kavanaugh and Ramirez best at this time in their lives. Not only are they willing to vouch for Kavanaugh’s character, they contend that the incident couldn’t have happened because they would have known about it.

Now, could it have flown under the radar? Of course. However, it seems somewhat unlikely, particularly given their closeness to both principals.

That’s a damning statement — and something those who want to use this allegation to stop the Kavanaugh nomination will have to address. (For more from the author of “New Accuser’s ‘Witnesses’ Already Rejecting Her Story” please click HERE)

Blink and You May Have Missed It? Andrew McCabe’s Lawyer Is on Christine Ford’s Legal Team

Andrew McCabe‘s attorney Michael R. Bromwich, along with his strategic consulting firm The Bromwich Group, have joined Dr. Christine Blasey Ford‘s legal team.

After a vexing series of public and private negotiations between Ford’s lawyers and the Republican leadership on the Senate Judiciary Committee, lead attorney Debra Katz released the following statement:

Dr. Ford accepts the Committee’s request to provide her first-hand knowledge of Brett Kavanaugh’s sexual misconduct next week. Although many aspects of the proposal you provided via email, on September 21, 2018, at 2:33 pm, are fundamentally inconsistent with the Committee’s promise of a fair, impartial investigation into her allegations, and we are disappointed with the leaks and the bullying that have tainted the process, we are hopeful that we can reach agreement on details. Can we set up a time for later this afternoon to continue our negotiations?

. . .

That name, of course, is Michael Bromwich. Bromwich has represented former FBI director McCabe since the latter was unceremoniously fired from his position within the FBI on the eve of his planned retirement.

A previous Law&Crime story by the present author identified Bromwich’s firm as the impetus behind McCabe’s putative “grassroots” half-a-million-dollar GoFundMe operation. That report also noted the pedigree of the firm now helmed by the former Obama administration appointee. (Read more from “Blink and You May Have Missed It?
