The Democrats’ Second Attempt to Hurl a Bomb at Trump’s SCOTUS Nominee Exploded in Their Faces

Great Scott! Judge Brett Kavanaugh said he would like to deliver the final nail in the coffin to the Morrison decision, which spoke to the constitutionality of an independent counsel. Some have argued it’s unconstitutional, as it increases the power of the judiciary over the executive branch. Judge Kavanagh, President Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court, made these remarks at an American Enterprise Institute event in 2016 (via NBC News):

Two years before President Donald Trump nominated him to a seat on the Supreme Court, federal appeals courts Judge Brett Kavanaugh said he believes the legal precedent that allows for independent counsels to investigate government officials for federal crimes should be overturned.

Asked at a conservative event in 2016 to name a case that he believed should be overturned, Kavanaugh named Morrison v. Olson, a Supreme Court ruling upholding a 1978 law that creates a system for independent counsels to investigate and potentially prosecute government officials for federal crimes. The law had five-year sunset provisions and was allowed to expire in 1999, according to the Congressional Research Service.

. . .

You can see the script now from the Left, right? Fix bayonets! They’re coming charging, except the Morrison opinion was apparently a crappy legal decision that’s mostly been discarded. The act from which this issue arose—the Independent Counsel Act—was allowed to expire in 1999 (via Weekly Standard):

The law was challenged as a violation of the separation of powers. The Rehnquist majority dealt with the law’s appointment and removal provisions before turning to the separation of powers. Scalia said the majority’s approach to the case was “backwards” and instead began his opinion with a discussion of separation of powers that drew upon The Federalist. Scalia wrote that the principle “is the absolutely central guarantee of a just government” and that “without a secure structure of separated powers, our Bill of Rights would be worthless.”

GOP Lawmaker: Impeach Trump

It’s not a top Republican. It’s not even a national one, but it offers insight into the weak sauce arguments for impeachment against Donald Trump; a nice window into this left wing pipedream to boot the president because…a lot of people didn’t like the results of the 2016 election. No, seriously—it’s getting ridiculous, folks. In Texas, State Rep. Jason Villalba outlined his reasons for why we need to impeach President Trump. Villalba is an outgoing lawmaker in the state legislature, as he was defeated in a primary held in March (via The Hill):

“Since Donald J. Trump has been president, he alone has increased the national debt by over $1 trillion. Yes. One trillion dollars. The fastest any president in U.S. history has accrued that level of debt,” Jason Villalba wrote in an editorial published by The Texas Tribune’s “TribTalk” on Wednesday.

“Our president has mocked and belittled our immigration laws, our intelligence agencies, our foreign policy strategy and even the American people. We have been called ‘stupid,’ ‘weak,’ ‘a joke’ and ‘pathetic,’ all by our own president,” Villalba continued, adding that he was one of the “only Republican elected officials in the country to plead with the American voters to abandon this charlatan prior to his election.”

. . .

Yeah, this sounds like a swan song from the loser brigade, along with a nice pitch to get on national television. The liberal media has frothing at the mouth over Trump’s win since November of 2016. You don’t think they’ll give this guy a phone call? This whole screed reads from something conjured up by Democrats and the Democratic National Committee. While the anti-Trump wing of America whines, they miss the pitch. We’re about to hit four percent economic growth for the second quarter, three million jobs created since Trump was elected, more jobs than job seekers, 18-year low in unemployment, historic lows in black unemployment, strong jobs reports, small business confidence being at its highest in years, consumer confidence being at its highest in years. Despite worries of trade wars, the Dow Jones regained its lost ground, breaking 25,000 last Friday. In 2017, the Dow had a 5,000-point surge, the largest annual gain ever. Regulations have been cut. And tax reform has ushered in a new era of jobs and economic growth. Over three million workers have received bonuses averaging $1,000 or more, Over 250 companies have benefitted from the tax cuts. How is this bad news? How is this not what has been a linchpin in the GOP platform? Everyone is seeing good news. The ones who are down on America over an election result need to have their lips sewn shut with steel wire, finished off and held together with a healthy coat of liquid cement.

NFL Team Will Suspend And/Or Fine Players Who Protest the National Anthem

On Thursday afternoon, it was reported that the NFL’s Miami Dolphins would suspend and/or fine players who protest during the national anthem.

In late May, the NFL instituted a new “no kneeling” policy. ESPN reported, “The new policy subjects teams to a fine if a player or any other team personnel do not show respect for the anthem. That includes any attempt to sit or kneel, as dozens of players have done during the past two seasons. Those teams will also have the option to fine any team personnel, including players, for the infraction.”

Immediately following the NFL’s announcement, in a survey conducted by Survey Monkey, 54% of respondents approved of the NFL’s new policy, while 43% disapproved. As The Daily Wire reported, “When the pollsters drilled down a little deeper, they found that approval of the policy increased the more hardcore the fan. Among those who described themselves as NFL fans (which was 53% of respondents), a slightly greater percentage agreed with the policy: 56% of either “casual” or “big” fans said they approved of the policy, while 42% disagreed.” (Read more from “Nfl Team Will Suspend And/Or Fine Players Who Protest the National Anthem” HERE)

FBI Director Reveals the ‘Most Significant’ Spy Threat to the U.S.

China, rather than Russia, is the “most significant” long-term threat to the United States, FBI Director Christopher Wray said Wednesday.

During an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt at the Aspen Ideas Forum, Wray said that the FBI has economic espionage investigations in all 50 states that trace back to Chinese activity.

“It covers everything from corn seeds in Iowa to wind turbines in Massachusetts and everything in between,” said Wray.

Most of the forum focused on the FBI’s investigation of Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election and in other arenas. Wray’s appearance comes in the wake of two significant indictments in Russia-related investigations.

The special counsel’s office on Friday indicted 12 Russian military intelligence officers allegedly involved in disseminating emails stolen from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee. And on Tuesday, a federal grand jury indicted a Russian national named Maria Butina who allegedly attempted to infiltrate Republican political circles and that National Rifle Association. In Midst of Political Storm, Comey Urges Americans to Vote Democrat

Three years ago, he was looked upon as the impartial leader of America’s most respected law enforcement agency. Now, James Comey has taken his feud with President Donald Trump to a new level by urging Americans to vote for Democrats.

Comey, who as chief of the FBI was entrusted to render an impartial verdict in the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, sent out his partisan message Tuesday via Twitter.

“This Republican Congress has proven incapable of fulfilling the Founders’ design that ‘Ambition must … counteract ambition.’ All who believe in this country’s values must vote for Democrats this fall. Policy differences don’t matter right now. History has its eyes on us,” Comey tweeted.

Comey, who attacked Trump repeatedly after Trump fired him and during his tour to market a new book, had stepped up his rhetoric after a Monday news conference in which Trump said he would accept Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s word that Russia did not interfere in the 2016 election.

Trump’s comments launched a domestic political furor because they contradicted the findings of the American intelligence community.

“This was the day an American president stood on foreign soil next to a murderous lying thug and refused to back his own country. Patriots need to stand up and reject the behavior of this president,” Comey tweeted Monday.

Trump later said he misspoke and aligned his views with that of United States intelligence agencies, according to Fox News.

“I came back and said ‘What is going on, what’s the big deal?’” Trump said, saying he saw the need for “some clarification.”

He said he meant to say that he didn’t see why Russia “wouldn’t” be responsible for interference.

“I said the word ‘would’ instead of ‘wouldn’t’ … sort of a double negative,” Trump said. “I accept our intelligence community’s conclusion that Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election took place.”

Comey’s criticism of Republicans in general has been a thread in his public comments in recent months.

“The Republican Party has left me and many others. I need no better evidence than their new website — which I think is ‘Lyin Comey’ maybe? — attacking me. I just think they’ve lost their way, and I can’t be associated with it,” he said in April, according to CNN.

“I see the Republican Party, as near as I can tell, reflects now entirely Donald Trump’s values,” the former FBI director added. “It doesn’t reflect values at all. It’s transactional, it’s ego-driven, it’s in service to his ego.”

Republicans have been quick to fire back at the former FBI director.

“Comey is a liar and a leaker and his misconduct led both Republicans and Democrats to call for his firing,” Republican chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in an April statement. “If Comey wants the spotlight back on him, we’ll make sure the American people understand why he has no one but himself to blame for his complete lack of credibility.”

Trump, as noted by The Washington Post, has called Comey an “untruthful slimeball.” (For more from the author of “In Midst of Political Storm, Comey Urges Americans to Vote Democrat” please click HERE)

Rand Paul Drops Bombshell on Hillary/Russia Collusion

By Daily Wire. On Wednesday morning, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) told Fox News’ Bill Hemmer that the only person we have evidence of colluding with Russia is twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, not President Donald Trump.

Sen. Paul made his comments in the aftermath of Trump’s controversial meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Paul has been a fierce defender of the president as Trump faces backlash from both sides of the aisle for seemingly suggesting he did not believe U.S. intel agencies about Russian meddling in the 2016 election — though he walked back the remark on Tuesday. . .

“The president sees the Mueller investigation; he sees all these accusations from partisan Democrats, Hillary Clinton, saying ‘Oh, he colluded with the Russians,'” explained Paul.

“The only people who we actually know colluded with the Russians were Hillary Clinton who paid a British agent who paid Russians for information for the dossier,” he declared, referencing the so-called “Steele dossier” which was funded by Hillary and the DNC. Sen. Rand Paul Goes After John Brennan After He Calls Trump ‘Treasonous’

By The Daily Caller. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul went after former CIA director John Brennan following his comments calling President Trump “treasonous” Wednesday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“The former director of the CIA, you think of that as a sober minded person, responsible person, kind of a James Bond with maybe an advanced degree. Here you have a naked partisan nut cake describing a press conference as treason,” said Carlson. “How should that make us feel as American citizens?”

“It makes me wonder whether he should be getting a government pension if he’s going to be disrespecting the commander-in-chief, calling the president treasonous. That’s about as overtop as you can imagine,” responded Paul.

Tucker then brought up that “treason is a death penalty offense” and yet that is how Brennan “is describing views.”

“You have to realize John Brennan started his illustrious career by voting for the Communist Party, you know that’s who he wanted to win the presidency, back in the 70s,” Paul said. “When he came to be head of the CIA, I filibustered him because I thought he was bad news from the very beginning.” (Read more from “Sen. Obama Says ‘Violent’ and ‘Bullying’ Men in Politics Are Having THIS IMPACT on Him

By The Blaze. Former president Barack Obama wants women to become more politically involved, saying Wednesday that “men have been getting on my nerves” lately.

Obama made the comments during the second day of his visit to South Africa, during a town hall before members of the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg.

“Every day I read the newspaper and just think like ‘Brothers, what’s wrong with you guys?’” Obama said. “What’s wrong with us? We’re violent, we’re bullying. Just not handling our business.” . . .

Obama said that the increased inclusion and empowerment of women in politics would create better policy, both in Africa and in the world generally, and warned the students not to shy away from politics because of corruption or conflict. . .

“The one thing you can’t do is pretend that politics doesn’t matter and say to yourself ‘that’s too corrupt, that’s too broken, I’m not going to get involved in it’ because at some point if you are ambitious about what you are doing in your home country, you will confront politics.” (Read more from “Obama Says ‘Violent’ and ‘Bullying’ Men in Politics Are Having THIS IMPACT on Him” HERE)

Obama Rebukes Identity Politics

By National Review. During a speech celebrating Nelson Mandela’s would-be 100th birthday, President Obama condemned the idea that only people from marginalized groups can comment on marginalized groups’ issues.

Obama made the comments when he was discussing the best way to interact with those with whom we disagree.

“Democracy demands that we’re able to also get inside the reality of people who are different than us, so we can understand their point of view,” he said. “Maybe we can change their minds, maybe they’ll change ours.”

“You can’t do this if you just out of hand disregard what your opponent has to say from the start,” he continued. “And you can’t do it if you insist that those who aren’t like you because they are white or they are male, somehow there is no way they can understand what I’m feeling, that somehow they lack standing to speak on certain matters.”

It might not seem like all that big of a deal, but what Obama did in that last statement was rebuke a way of thinking that has actually become quite pervasive in social-justice circles. In these circles, it’s often the case that men have no authority to speak out about certain issues just because their men, or that white people have no authority to speak out on certain issues just because they’re white. Media Trainwreck: Yeah, About That Picture of the Alleged Russian Spy in the Oval Office…It’s Not Her

. . .So, of course, collusion fever reached unhealthy levels again yesterday. There was a picture of a woman with red hair—Butina is a redhead—in the Oval Office with President Trump. Great Odin’s raven! But it’s not her. It’s an NSC staffer with red hair. Regardless, the initial tweet went viral (via Mediaite):

. . .

And liberal media figures wonder why they’re mocked and not trusted anymore. (Read more from “Media Trainwreck: Yeah, About That Picture of the Alleged Russian Spy in the Oval Office…It’s Not Her” HERE)

Here’s Why MGM Just Filed a Lawsuit Against the Las Vegas Shooting Victims

MGM International Resorts, the owners of Mandalay Bay and the Route 91 Harvest Festival venue, have filed a lawsuit against more than 1,000 victims of the Las Vegas shooting. The goal of their lawsuit is to avoid liability, the Las Vegas-Review Journal reported.

According to the lawsuit, MGM’s security company, Contemporary Services Corp., was certified by the Department of Homeland Security for “protecting against and responding to acts of mass injury and destruction.”

A 2002 federal act, known as the SAFETY Act, extends liability protection to companies who use “anti-terrorism” technology and services that “prevent and respond to mass violence.” Contemporary Services Corps. utilized those technologies, which allowed them to be certified by DHS. Having that certification removes security companies from being held liable should an incident like the Las Vegas shooting occur.

MGM argues that the liability protections extend to their company because they were the ones who hired Contemporary Services Corp. They cite the SAFETY Act as their cause for being protected from liability.

The purpose of the lawsuit is for a judge to decide if MGM falls under the SAFETY Act. If the judge rules in the company’s favor, future civil lawsuits against MGM would not be viable. (Read more from “Here’s Why MGM Just Filed a Lawsuit Against the Las Vegas Shooting Victims” HERE)

Feds Reveal Suspected Serial Rapist Is Illegal Alien

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Monday blasted San Francisco over its sanctuary policy that “shields criminal aliens who prey on the community” by pointing to an illegal immigrant charged in connection to the rapes of four women, The San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Orlando Vilchez Lazo, 36, is a citizen of Peru and “present in the U.S.,” the report said. He was arrested last week after police said they came across a man who fit the description of the assailant. Police said they took a DNA sample and found a link to four rapes.

Vilchez Lazo has been dubbed the “ride-share rapist,” because he would allegedly drive his car around clubs in the city and pose as a driver. The New York Times, citing authorities, reported that he even had a sticker on his car to indicate he was working for a company.

Vilchez Lazo allegedly committed at least four rapes, one in 2013 and three this year, with the most recent attack in June. Commander Greg McEachren says he often waited outside bars late at night, then drove to other locations.

He reportedly worked for Lyft at the time, but the company told the paper that there is no indication that the alleged attacks occurred while he was working for them. A spokeswoman said he was “deactivated” after word of the allegations. (Read more from “Feds Reveal Suspected Serial Rapist Is Illegal Alien” HERE)
