Rep Makes Astounding Accusations Against Hillary Clinton – Here’s What He Said

By The Blaze. In an interview after his explosive performance questioning Peter Strzok Thursday, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) made astounding claims against former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Fox News. . .

Gohmert told Brian Kilmeade on Fox News that he regretted that his outburst and insult against Strzok were overshadowing the very important information he had gathered during the hearing.

“He [Strzok] was told by the intelligence community inspector general’s investigator Frank Rutger that they had found an anomaly in the emails going to and from Hillary Clinton’s unauthorized private server,” Gohmert explained. . .

“So you’re saying that in Hillary Clinton’s emails,” Kilmeade asked, “they were forwarded to someone else?”

“Yes, and it was because they were hacked,” Gohmert answered, “and [DOJ Inspector General] Horowitz didn’t point that out, you know they, and the previous story you know that [former FBI Director James] Comey gave us, well it was not a good server, it was possible that it got hacked, but there was no evidence that it was hacked, and then we find out, and that’s what I brought out today, that the intelligence community, IG, brought it to their attention and they did nothing. Nothing!” (Read more from “Rep Makes Astounding Accusations Against Hillary Clinton – Here’s What He Said” HERE)

President Trump Asks the Question This Morning That Everyone is Wondering About

Twitter Removes Inactive and Locked Accounts. Guess Whose Follower Count Is Hardest Hit.

This week Twitter removed inactive and locked accounts from follower counts, and the third-most followed person on Twitter took a two-million person hit.

That person was former president Barack Obama, who boasted 104 million Twitter followers before the crackdown, but saw his number drop to roughly 101 million followers as of Thursday, according to The Hill.

Obama trails Katy Perry, who has roughly 107 million followers, and Justin Bieber, who has roughly 104 million. Obama is followed by Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Ellen Degeneres and Christiano Ronaldo. President Trump ranks 18th, with 53 million followers.

[Via Twitter:]

Over the years, we’ve locked accounts when we detected sudden changes in account behavior. In these situations, we reach out to the owners of the accounts and unless they validate the account and reset their passwords, we keep them locked with no ability to log in. This week, we’ll be removing these locked accounts from follower counts across profiles globally. As a result, the number of followers displayed on many profiles may go down. …

If we detect sudden changes in account behavior, we may lock the account and contact the owner to confirm they still have control of it. These sudden changes in account behavior could include Tweeting a large volume of unsolicited replies or mentions, Tweeting misleading links, or if a large number of accounts block the account after mentioning them. We sometimes lock an account if we see email and password combinations from other services posted online and believe that information could put the security of an account at risk — so we require accounts to change of their passwords for protection. Until we confirm that everything is ok with the account, we lock it, which makes them unable to Tweet or see ads.

Starbucks’ Solution to Replace Plastic Straws Backfires Big-Time

On Monday, Starbucks, ever-eager to portray itself as a corporation that is sensitive to environmental concerns, jumped on the bandwagon with those advocating the removal of plastic straws. Starbucks Kevin Johnson CEO issued a press release in which he said, “This is a significant milestone to achieve our global aspiration of sustainable coffee, served to our customers in more sustainable ways.”

One problem: as Christian Britschgi notes in Reason, the replacements Starbucks plans to use for the plastic straws, nitro lids, are comprised of more plastic than Starbucks’ current lid/straw combination.

Britschgi writes, “Right now, Starbucks patrons are topping most of their cold drinks with either 3.23 grams or 3.55 grams of plastic product, depending on whether they pair their lid with a small or large straw. The new nitro lids meanwhile weigh either 3.55 or 4.11 grams, depending again on lid size. (I got these results by measuring Starbucks’ plastic straws and lids on two separate scales, both of which gave me the same results.) This means customers are at best breaking even under Starbucks’ strawless scheme, or they are adding between .32 and .88 grams to their plastic consumption per drink.”

Oh, but it’s been so trendy to eliminate plastic straws. Britschgi delineates exactly how powerful that trend has become:

In July, Seattle imposed America’s first ban on plastic straws. Vancouver, British Columbia, passed a similar ban a few months earlier. There are active attempts to prohibit straws in New York City, Washington, D.C., Portland, Oregon, and San Francisco. A-list celebrities from Calvin Harris to Tom Brady have lectured us on giving up straws. Both National Geographic and The Atlantic have run long profiles on the history and environmental effects of the straw. Vice is now treating their consumption as a dirty, hedonistic excess.

Could Comedian’s Stunt With Sarah Palin Land Him in Jail?

Sacha Baron Cohen is getting plenty of attention for stunts he apparently pulled for his latest undercover comedy show, “Who is America?” One in particular, which targeted former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, may turn out to be illegal.

According to Palin, the comedian posed as a wounded veteran in order to arrange an interview with the former Alaska governor. Palin said in a Facebook post that she traveled cross-country for the interview. After finding the conversation to be full of “sarcasm” and “disrespect,” Palin said she “finally had enough and literally, physically removed my mic and walked out.” . . .

The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 makes it a crime to lie about being a recipient of military decorations or medals “with intent to obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit.” A stunt for highly lucrative television show could certainly count as a “tangible benefit.” A previous version of the Act from 2005 had much broader restriction against lying about past military service, but the Supreme Court said it violated the First Amendment in an opinion written by the retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy.

If Cohen was wearing anything meant to look like military decorations, or if he told Palin he was a recipient, he could be in violation. Penalties include fines and/or imprisonment for up to a year. . .

Cohen has a history of dressing up in character in order to fool people into granting interviews and saying potentially embarrassing things. Past characters include Ali G, Borat, and Bruno. With each of these characters appearing on television and in their own movies, Cohen apparently had to find another approach for his new show, which premiers Sunday on Showtime. Democrats Turn Strzok Hearing Into Circus — Literally Acting as a Cheer Squad

House Democrats are committed to turning FBI Agent Peter Strzok’s testimony before Congress into a clown show, interrupting the questions of their Republican colleagues and literally acting as a cheer squad for Strzok.

When House Oversight and Government Reform Committee chairman Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., attempted to ask Strzok a question about the number of people he interviewed in the first week of the FBI’s Russian election interference investigation, Strzok refused to answer on the advice of the FBI’s lawyers.

“Based on that, I will not answer that question because it goes to matters related to the ongoing investigation,” Strzok said.

When House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., attempted to force Strzok to answer the question, arguing he must do so because he was subpoenaed by Congress, Strzok denied that he had been subpoenaed, claiming he had come to testify voluntarily. That, of course, didn’t sit well with the Republicans, who claimed Strzok had no “valid legal basis” for refusing to answer the question.

Then the Democrats did this:

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., interrupted the questioning with several “point of order” interjections, which Goodlatte attempted to ignore. The Democrats contend that Republicans know they cannot ask questions about an ongoing federal investigation. The Republicans contend that they’re not asking specific questions about the investigation, and therefore Strzok ought to be compelled to answer or be held in contempt of Congress.

In a very stupid moment, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, asserted that Strzok was invoking “attorney-client privilege” and therefore shouldn’t be forced to answer Gowdy’s question. That’s an absurd objection. Strzok was not being asked to disclose information he holds in confidence with his lawyer. Goodlatte pointed out that Strzok isn’t even talking about his personal lawyer but is referring to the FBI general counsel. Strzok was being asked about the timing of the FBI Russia investigation and when it began to interview people — a question that does not touch upon information about the investigation specifically.

Strzok ultimately refused to answer the question, and Goodlatte threatened to hold him in contempt of Congress.

In another stupid moment, Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., made a parliamentary inquiry that was ruled out of order about holding former Trump adviser Stephen K. Bannon in contempt of Congress for refusing to answer Gowdy’s questions when he was under subpoena before the House Intelligence Committee.

This was all an attempt to disrupt the flow of Gowdy’s questioning. When Gowdy finally managed to ask Strzok about his bias and the text messages vowing to “stop” Trump from becoming president, Strzok vehemently denied that his personal feelings affected the FBI investigations he was involved in.

Strzok claimed the “we’ll stop it” text he sent to his lover, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, referred to Americans in general rejecting Trump at the ballot box. He said his text was “written late at night, off the cuff.”

“It was in no way, unequivocally, any suggestion that me, the FBI, would take any action whatsoever to improperly impact the electoral process for any candidate,” Strzok said, taking “great offense” to Gowdy’s questions.

At the end of his answer, in which he accused the Republicans of attacking the FBI, Democrats erupted into applause.

The Democrats don’t want answers from Strzok. It’s clear from this hearing that they are there to protect him from tough questions from Republicans and cheer him on when he repeats their narrative about the Republicans undermining American democracy by questioning the FBI. Page Thinks She’s Above the Law, so Congress Sends in U.S. Marshals

By Conservative Tribune. That’s the scenario playing out this week in Washington, as Congress tries to get former FBI lawyer Lisa Page to testify about anti-Trump texts she exchanged with FBI agent Peter Strzok, with whom she was having an affair. . .

“I am very disturbed by this,” Ryan said of Page’s no-show during a press conference. “Congressional subpoenas for testimony are not optional. … She was a part of a mess that they have uncovered over at DOJ. She has an obligation to come testify.” . . .

Republican Rep. Robert Goodlatte of Virginia said Wednesday that Page’s attorney initially agreed to accept service of the subpoena for Page, but “then turned around and immediately tried to reject it,” according to Fox News. . .

Page’s attorney, Amy Jeffress, said her client did not appear Wednesday because she did not have time to prepare, claiming Page had been denied access to FBI files necessary for her to prepare for questioning.

“Through her actions and words, Lisa has made it abundantly clear that she will cooperate with this investigation. All she is asking is to be treated as other witnesses have under the Committees’ own rules,” Jeffress said in a statement. U.S. Marshals ‘went to Lisa Page’s house three times’ to serve a subpoena

By Emily Goodin and Ariel Zilber. A top Republican on Capitol Hill has sent the United States Marshals Service to deliver a subpoena to a former FBI lawyer who defied an earlier request by Congress to testify about alleged anti-Trump bias within the bureau.

Representative Bob Goodlatte, a Republican from Virginia, says he instructed the Marshals to serve a subpoena to Lisa Page, whom he has accused of ‘apparently’ having ‘something to hide.’

Earlier on Wednesday, Page defied a congressional subpoena and declined to appear before a closed-door session of the House Judiciary Committee, which Goodlatte chairs.

Goodlatte said that initially Page’s lawyer agreed to accept the subpoena, but ‘then turned around and immediately tried to reject it,’ according to Fox News.

[He continued:] ‘They had to go back three times before they were finally able to reach her.’ (Read more from “US Marshals Go to Page’s House Three Times” HERE)

Rep Explains the Explosive Revelation From Strzok Testimony

By The Blaze. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) explained the pivotal piece of the puzzle about the origins of the Russian investigation that was revealed by Peter Strzok in his testimony before Congress Thursday.

Jordan explained that the justification of the Russian investigation came from flawed documents including the “Trump dossier” that was created through the efforts of Democrat-linked entities like Fusion GPS.

“Today, think about that, the top DOJ official Bruce Ohr actually hands parts of the dossier to the FBI,” Rep. Jordan told Sean Hannity on his show Thursday.

And remember Bruce Ohr’s wife Nellie worked for Fusion GPS, who was paid by the Clinton campaign to put this entire dossier together,” he explained. “This is the first time to my knowledge the FBI has admitted they got parts of the dossier from Bruce Ohr, a fellow DOJ employee.” . . .

“Bruce Ohr, the fourth ranking official at the Department of Justice, his wife works for Fusion GPS, in the summer, he gets information, passes it to the FBI, that becomes the basis to spy on the Trump campaign, plain and simple,” Jordan continued. “This is the first time to my knowledge the FBI has admitted that, and it was good that we got some of that information out today.” (Read more from “Rep Explains the Explosive Revelation From Strzok Testimony” HERE)

Giuliani Slams Strzok for Refusing to Admit Different Versions of Trump Dossier

By Fox News. Rudy Giuliani on Thursday slammed the “totally phony” Russia probe after anti-Trump FBI agent Peter Strzok refused to identify the individuals who apparently handed the bureau three different copies of the salacious Trump dossier.

“Isn’t that called collusion or conspiracy to gin up a totally inappropriate, totally illegally wire based on national security? And doesn’t it taint the entire Russian probe?” Giuliani told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on “The Ingraham Angle.”

“That’s a disgrace, [Special Counsel Robert] Mueller should be ashamed of himself. Those Democrats trying to protect that liar, Strzok, should be ashamed of themselves. And every FBI agent I know wants to see this guy drummed out of the bureau,” he said. (Read more from “Giuliani Slams Strzok for Refusing to Admit Different Versions of Trump Dossier” HERE)

Trump Pardons Hammond Ranchers

By NPR. President Trump signed full pardons on Tuesday for Oregon cattle ranchers Dwight Hammond Jr. and son Steven Hammond, whose long-running dispute with the federal government ended with prison sentences for arson — and later inspired the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupation.

In its statement announcing the pardon, the White House said, “The Hammonds are devoted family men, respected contributors to their local community, and have widespread support from their neighbors, local law enforcement, and farmers and ranchers across the West.”

It added: “Dwight Hammond is now 76 years old and has served approximately three years in prison. Steven Hammond is 49 and has served approximately four years in prison. They have also paid $400,000 to the United States to settle a related civil suit.” (Read more from “Trump Pardons Hammond Ranchers” HERE)

Oregon Ranchers Pardoned by Trump Arrive Home

By CBS News. Father and son ranchers, who were the focus of a battle about public lands and were freed from prison after receiving a presidential pardon, were welcomed home Wednesday in Oregon by relatives and horseback riders carrying American flags. A crowd of 100 people, including supporters who drove from all over the West Coast, also helped welcome the Hammonds home — proudly displaying Americans flags on their trucks and signs praising President Trump, CBS Portland affiliate KOIN reports.

“We’re going to do a lot of decompressing and get back to our families,” Steven Hammond told reporters and well-wishers after he and his father Dwight stepped from a private jet and into the arms of family members in the high-desert town of Burns.

Just 25 miles away is Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, which was taken over in 2016 by armed protesters angered by the five-year prison sentences given to the Hammonds after they were convicted of setting fires on federal land. The standoff lasted 41 days, ending when occupation leaders Ammon and Ryan Bundy were arrested and LaVoy Finicum was killed by authorities.

The occupiers, who believe federal control of public lands violates the Constitution, insisted the Hammonds were victimized by federal overreach. (Read more from “Oregon Ranchers Pardoned by Trump Arrive Home” HERE)

CNN Hammers Facebook for Its Continued Promotion of Alex Jones

Facebook officials struggled on Wednesday to explain why it permits InfoWars, a media organization that is one of the world’s leading purveyors of conspiracy theories, to have a page on its platform.

The company’s failure to produce a satisfactory answer on the matter came at an event Facebook organized in its Manhattan offices where the company aimed to tout its commitment to combating fake news and misinformation.

After a short presentation showcasing Facebook’s efforts to fight misinformation, John Hegeman, the head of Facebook’s News Feed, and Sara Su, a Facebook product specialist for News Feed, took questions from reporters.

When asked by this reporter how the company could claim it was serious about tackling the problem of misinformation online while simultaneously allowing InfoWars to maintain a page with nearly one million followers on its website, Hegeman said that the company does not “take down false news.” (Read more from “CNN Hammers Facebook for Its Continued Promotion of Alex Jones” HERE)

Trump Breaks NATO: Leaders Pledge ‘Unwavering Commitment’ to Boost Defense Spending

By The Daily Wire. Leaders of member nations that belong to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) pledged their “unwavering commitment” to increasing their defense funding of the organization after President Donald Trump slammed the group for treating the United States unfairly.

The commitment from European leaders came after Trump publicly embarrassed NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg during a meeting early on Wednesday morning. . .

“So, we’re protecting Germany, we’re protecting France, we’re protecting all of these countries,” Trump said. “And then numerous of the countries go out and make a pipeline deal with Russia where they’re paying billions of dollars into the coffers of Russia. So, we are supposed to protect you against Russia.”

“You tell me if that is appropriate.” Trump continued. “This has been going on for decades. This has been brought up by other presidents, but other presidents never did anything about it.” (Read more from “Trump Breaks NATO: Leaders Pledge ‘Unwavering Commitment’ to Boost Defense Spending” HERE)

NATO Pledges to Boost Defense Spending After Stern Words From Trump

By Fox News. . .The U.S. and European allies signed a declaration stating they are “committed to improving the balance of sharing the costs and responsibilities of alliance membership.”

The declaration comes after confrontational and testy discussions between Trump and other NATO leaders.

Since the election, Trump has criticized NATO countries for not paying their fair share, while suggesting he would only come to the defense of NATO nations that fulfilled their financial obligation.

Trump also has pressed NATO countries to fulfill their goal of spending 2 percent of their gross domestic products on defense by 2024. NATO estimates that 15 members, or just over half, will meet that benchmark based on current trends. . .

Via Twitter, he called for members to meet the 2 percent commitment immediately. And in a statement Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump, at the summit, “suggested that countries not only meet their commitment of 2 percent of their GDP on defense spending, but that they increase it to 4 percent. Trump wants to see our allies share more of the burden and at a very minimum meet their already stated obligations.” (Read more from “NATO Pledges to Boost Defense Spending After Stern Words From Trump” HERE)
