Surge! Illegals Rush the Border for Trump’s Promise of Amnesty

During the first few months of Trump’s presidency, border crossings declined to the lowest level in a generation. Now, new data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) shows that border crossings have spiked for the past four consecutive months, despite the hot weather, which usually causes an annual drop in border crossings in the summer. It’s quite obvious that the initial perception of Trump as a strict law enforcer has been revised in the eyes of potential migrants, following Trump’s promise to pass amnesty within the next six months. When will the political class finally learn the lessons of failed amnesty and place the security of Americans first — before any discussion of amnesty?

New surge of border crossings

According to the CBP, the number of arrests at the southwest border rose 22 percent in August, the fourth monthly increase in a row from the low point in April. From January through April, on the heels of Trump’s inauguration and the perception of an “America first” approach to immigration, border crossings plummeted every month, eventually falling by an astounding 73 percent. However, the total crossings since April have now doubled again.

While the numbers are still below the recent average, the trend is very concerning and demonstrates what we should expect once Congress seriously considers amnesty and the president’s support for it becomes more evident to Mexico and to Latin American countries. More disturbing, the number of family units crossing has jumped by 261 percent, which reveals that the promise of amnesty for children will always incentivize families to make the trek across the border. Further endangering Americans is the fact that the number of unaccompanied children (UACs) has spiked 206 percent since the April low point. As we’ve noted before, 30 percent of them have ties to gangs, some aren’t even children, and many of them are trafficked by their own family members.

This new data further drives home the point lost on our political class — that it is immoral to focus on the plight of illegal aliens before focusing on the plight of Americans.

A Senate that truly represents us would hold hearings on shutting down the border surge, fixing the asylum and UAC loopholes, and cutting off all the magnets that incentivize border crossings. Such senators would investigate why, after giving Mexico $2.8 billion over the past decade to stem the border flow and fight the drug cartels, it is pocketing the money while openly violating our sovereignty and protesting our enforcement of our own laws. Instead, Sen. Grassley is holding a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on “DACA” amnesty, with only one conservative witness invited to the panel.

The president is no better. White House legislative affairs director Marc Short has now said that the border wall will not even be a precondition for amnesty. Worse, the rationale he gave for caving on the border wall was that it would “bind us into a construct that would make the conclusion on DACA impossible.” Thus, amnesty for illegals is now the main entrée, a guarantee, an entitlement, and a right; whereas border security for Americans is just a side dish that could get in the way of amnesty. Which means that the White House will definitely never fight for any of the other 20 or so enforcement items as a precondition for amnesty. “Dream” amnesty, which will easily metastasize into broader amnesty for millions more illegal immigrants, has now become the new “we can’t shut the government down” imperative, while the urgency to prevent a new wave of immigration is ignored.

This is a complete violation of every campaign promise Trump made on immigration, not to mention the entire social compact of government: governance by the consent of the citizenry. Obviously, no government would place the interests of foreign nationals and foreign governments ahead of its own national sovereignty, and yet here we are.

What about addressing the root cause of the border crisis from the Mexican side?

But this is not about us.

And it’s not even about helping Mexican nationals. For if that were the case, we’d focus on holding the Mexican government accountable and rooting out the drug cartels so that Mexicans could live securely in their own land. We spend trillions of dollars nation-building in Kabul and Baghdad, but for some reason we have no interest in securing stability on our border, where thousands are brutalized by drug cartels just a stone’s throw across the river from El Paso, Texas.

Indeed, open borders and the amnesty agenda are not only contrary to the interests of our own citizens, it’s harmful to the long-term interests of Mexicans as well. While we welcome legal immigrants from all over the world, there is something wrong when almost 10 percent of Mexico’s population is in America and the Mexican government is encouraging even more people to emigrate. The Mexican government has no regard for its people and is corrupt through and through. The best way to help Mexicans in the long run is by using our leverage of statecraft to secure a strong and stable Mexico, not by repeating the mistakes that fuel the cycle of violence and empowerment of the smuggling cartels.

It’s quite evident, therefore, that endless amnesty serves one interest and one interest only: it creates a permanent voting bloc for Democrats. With this impending amnesty, Democrats hope to turn Texas and Arizona blue the same way they did to California with the 1986 amnesty.

Why in the world Trump and Republicans would enthusiastically support something that is bad for America, bad for Mexicans, and suicide for their own political future, who knows? Then again, the craven Republicans have already adopted almost every other Democrat policy so far. (For more from the author of “Surge! Six United States Senators Are ALL in for Socialized Medicine

Six U.S. Senators are now championing a bill for socialized medicine in the United States of America.

Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D.-N.Y., have declared their intentions to become the latest co-sponsors of a “Medicare for all” bill being introduced into the Senate by former Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. The bill would create a national single-payer health care system in the U.S.

“Health care should be a right for every single American, not a privilege reserved for the healthy and the wealthy,” Merkley said in a statement explaining his support for the legislation. He and Gillibrand join fellow Democrats Cory Booker, D-N.J., Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Kamala Harris, D-Calif., in support of Sanders’ legislation. All three are speculative candidates for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

Senator Sanders thanked Merkley for his support.

It’s not just the Senate. A companion bill in the U.S. House introduced by Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., has attracted 177 Democratic co-sponsors, nearly two-thirds of the caucus.

Why the surge in popularity for socialized medicine among Democrats? Pushing for a single-payer system was once a third rail of American politics. Democratic activists believe the GOP’s failed attempt to repeal Obamacare has strengthened the resolve of the nation’s leftists.

Working Families Party national director Dan Cantor told CNN, “In the end, the biggest impact of the Republicans’ attack on health care may be this: It has strengthened the resolve of many, many Americans to fight for health care for all.”

The Overton window has shifted. The Republicans’ self-inflicted defeat and their unwillingness to keep their Obamacare repeal promises have opened the door for a push for single-payer health care. Conservatives warned that Obamacare was always a stepping stone towards a single-payer system. With our health insurance markets collapsing under Obamacare’s weight, the Democrats are seizing the opportunity, as they always do, to push the country further left.

Is there an opposition party competent enough to stop them? (For more from the author of “Six United States Senators Are ALL in for Socialized Medicine” please click HERE)

Black Lives Matter Targets Jefferson Monument in Charlottesville

The divide over statues and monuments in Charlottesville, Va., appears far from over.

Just one month after a demonstration over plans to remove a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee turned violent, resulting in a woman’s death, a different group of protesters has targeted a statue of U.S. Founding Father Thomas Jefferson.

The Thomas Jefferson Monument, which sits just outside a rotunda at the University of Virginia — which Jefferson also founded — was cloaked in black Tuesday evening, and adorned with signs reading “Black Lives Matter” and “TJ is a racist,” local media reported.

Nearly 100 students came together to deface the statue, chanting, “No Trump, No KKK, no racist U-V-A,” the Washington Times reported. (Read more from “Black Lives Matter Targets Jefferson Monument in Charlottesville” HERE)

SHOCKER: Absurdly Expensive College Faces $5 MILLION Budget Crisis After Radical Loons Run Wild

Yet another American college is suffering an “unexpected” plunge in enrollment and a massive budget deficit after a series of outbursts by radical fringe protesters and professors.

This time, the school is Oberlin College, a private, 2,900-student enclave of progressivism in small-town Ohio where the cost for a single year of tuition, fees and room and board is $69,372.

Oberlin is facing a $5 million budget shortfall for the 2017–2018 academic year due to lower student enrollment and a related drop in revenue, reports The Oberlin Review, the student newspaper.

The chairman of Oberlin’s board of trustees, Chris Canavan, announced the financial woes in an email sent to professors and administrators this summer. The student newspaper obtained and published the full email late last week. (Read more from “SHOCKER: Absurdly Expensive College Faces $5 MILLION Budget Crisis After Radical Loons Run Wild” HERE)

Guess How Much Sanders’ Campaign Is in Debt

Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign currently owes a disputed $450,000 to the various municipalities the Vermont lawmaker visited throughout the race.

Sanders’ campaign has reportedly failed to make good on hundreds of thousands of dollars in event security costs owed to dozens of cities and their police departments.

Hurricane Telethon Gets Political

Singer Stevie Wonder kicked off Tuesday’s star studded Hand In Hand telethon to raise money for hurricane recovery by getting political. Wonder started the show by saying, “Anyone who believes that there’s no such thing as global warming must be blind or unintelligent.”

The Hand In Hand telethon was run on every broadcast network to benefit victims of hurricanes Harvey, which devastated the Houston area, and Irma, which slammed Florida over the weekend. The event mirrors past telethons for natural disasters.

The 2005 telethon to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina became known for Kanye West’s infamous anti-President George W. Bush comments. “George Bush doesn’t care about black people,” West said as a stunned Mike Meyers looked on.

In addition to musical performances, celebrities took phone calls during Tuesday’s telethon from people making pledges to help those in need. (Read more from “Hurricane Telethon Gets Political” HERE)

Hillary Says Media Coverage Is ‘Biased’ Against Democrats

The former Democratic Party presidential nominee actually believes most media coverage is biased against Democrats . . .

linton made her argument Tuesday during a “Pod Save America” podcast, which is put on by four former aides to President Obama: Jon Favreau, Dan Pfeiffer, Jon Lovette and Tommy Vietor. She claimed Democrats are at a “disadvantage” when it comes to news reporting.

“I think we are facing a couple of very difficult obstacles,” she said. “First, the other side has dedicated propaganda channels. That’s what I call Fox News. It has outlets like Breitbart and crazy Infowars and things like that. In this particular election, it was aided and abetted by the Russians and the role that Facebook and other platforms played. We are late to that. You know, we did not understand how a reality TV campaign would so dominate the media environment. And I confess, I was trying to do everything I could to build on the success of President Obama’s campaign. I had a lot of people you guys know involved in the campaign. We were really proud of it, but boy it was tough to break through.

“So I think the Democrats can do a lot, but they are still going to face a very difficult media environment. And we’ve got to figure out how we’re going to break through. I mean, obviously, more podcasts, more other ways of communicating so voices can be heard and real positions can be understood is part of it. But we’re still at a disadvantage.” (Read more from “Hillary Says Media Coverage Is ‘Biased’ Against Democrats” HERE)

Ted Cruz Blames Staffer ‘Liking’ Porn Tweet

Sen. Ted Cruz said Tuesday that a staff member of his was responsible for “liking” a pornographic Twitter post with the Texas lawmaker’s account, chalking up the social media snafu to a “mistake.”

“There are a number of people on the team who have access on the account. It appears that someone inadvertently hit the like button. When we discovered the post, which was I guess an hour or two later, we pulled it down,” Cruz (R-Texas) said of the incident. “It was a staffing issue. And it was inadvertent, it was a mistake. It was not a deliberate act. We’re dealing with it internally, but it was a mistake. It was not malicious” . . .

Earlier Tuesday, a spokeswoman for Cruz announced via her own Twitter account that the “like” had been undone and that the post had been reported to Twitter.

“The offensive tweet posted on @tedcruz account earlier has been removed by staff and reported to Twitter,” Catherine Frazier, Cruz’s senior communications adviser, wrote on her Twitter account at 2:16 a.m. Tuesday morning. (Read more from “Ted Cruz Blames Staffer ‘Liking’ Porn Tweet” HERE)

Miss America Contestants Asked to Condemn President Trump

Though the ominous feeling of concern for those in the path of Hurricane Irma in Florida hung heavy in the air, the show must go on. Miss America 2018 on ABC aired September 10th and throughout the show, donations for hurricane relief were solicited for those affected in both Texas and Florida. Never fear, though. Politics dominated the final question competition and yes, it was all about President Trump.

Breaking with the tradition of one question per finalist in the final round of competition, this year the pageant decided to ask two questions of each – described as one serious and one playful. The serious questions were saved for the last five finalists. Four of the five questions were political.

It began with a question asked by judge Jordin Sparks to Miss Missouri, Jennifer Davis, about the multiple investigations into whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians – did Miss Davis think the Trump campaign was innocent or guilty? She said, “Innocent.” The crowd responded with mostly cheers. She said there wasn’t enough evidence but if the campaign proves to be guilty, the Justice Department should punish accordingly.

Sparks: There are multiple investigations into whether Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia on the election. Well, did they? You’re the jury: guilty or innocent and please explain your verdict.

Miss Missouri: Right now I have to say innocent, because not enough information has been revealed. We are still investigating this and I think we should investigate it to its fullest extent. If we do find the evidence that they have had collusion with Russia, the justice system should do their due diligence and they should be punished accordingly.

The Scandal Hillary Clinton Wants You to Forget About

Hillary Clinton’s 450-page book attempting to excuse her failed 2016 presidential campaign, “What Happened,” conveniently ignores one of the election’s biggest scandals: then-Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile’s leaking of debate questions to Clinton during the Democratic primary — a clear-cut example of DNC officials rigging the primary in favor of Clinton.

The fact that Brazile leaked questions to Clinton before two different primary debates only came out when WikiLeaks published stolen emails from Clinton campaign chair John Podesta in October. But Clinton writes that revelation out of history in her book, which was reviewed by The Daily Caller. She dismisses reporting about the leaked emails as the media inventing a story out of nothing.

“In the end, though, most of John’s emails were . . . boring,” she claims. “They revealed the nuts and bolts of a campaign at work, with staffers debating policies, editing speeches, and kibitzing about the daily ups and downs of the election.”

“No single day was that bad, but it added up, and we could never get past it. Wikileaks played into people’s fascination with ‘pulling back the curtain.’ Anything said behind closed doors is automatically considered more interesting, important, and honest than things said in public. It’s even better if you have to do a little legwork and google around for the information,” Clinton writes, before taking a clear shot at the press over their coverage of the Podesta emails.
