Trump, Putin Expected to Speak This Week About Ukraine Cease-Fire Push, White House Envoy Says

President Trump is likely to speak to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone this week as the U.S. push to end the Russia-Ukraine war accelerates, U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff said Sunday.

Mr. Witkoff, who met with Mr. Putin in Moscow last week, told CNN’s “State of the Union” that the U.S. is in communication with all sides, including Russia, Ukraine and other European powers, about a potential cease-fire deal.

Mr. Witkoff said the U.S. and Russia have gotten closer in their positions in recent days, despite Mr. Putin’s reluctance to embrace the 30-day cease-fire agreed to by the U.S. and Ukraine after high-level delegations from those two nations met in Saudi Arabia last week.

“The two sides are today a lot closer,” Mr. Witkoff said, referring to the U.S. and Russia. “The two sides, we’ve narrowed the differences between them and now we’re sitting at the table.”

Trump Ties for Highest Approval He’s Ever Had — As More Americans Say U.S. Is on Right Track Than Any Time in 20 Years: Poll

Three months into his second term, President Trump hit the highest approval rating he’s ever had as commander-in-chief — while more Americans say the country is on the right track than at any point since 2004, a new poll found.

That’s the good news, according to an NBC News Poll released Sunday.

The bad news is that Trump still has not won over a majority of Americans, and 54% said they disapprove of his handling of the economy — the first time he’s lost a majority on that issue in NBC’s poll.

Even so, the survey found that voters generally feel Trump is bringing “the right kind of change” on the key issues — even tariffs.

Houthis Post Message Involving American Flag Draped Coffins After Trump Launches Strike In Yemen

The Houthi rebels in Yemen have posted a cryptic video featuring American flag-draped coffins in response to President Donald Trump’s “decisive and powerful” airstrikes against the terrorist group on Saturday.

The video opens with an animated coffin draped in the American flag drifting on the ocean’s surface. As mournful music plays in the background, the camera gradually zooms out, revealing a haunting scene of numerous other flag-draped coffins floating away from wrecked Navy vessels.

This follows Trump’s authorization of a “powerful” military strike against the Iranian-backed rebels, who have been behind numerous destabilizing actions in the Middle East. The president emphasized that he would not tolerate such behavior, criticizing former President Joe Biden for being “pathetically weak” in handling the situation.

“To all Houthi terrorists, YOUR TIME IS UP, AND YOUR ATTACKS MUST STOP, STARTING TODAY. IF THEY DON’T, HELL WILL RAIN DOWN UPON YOU LIKE NOTHING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

Democratic Insiders Complain Kamala Harris Is ‘MIA’ After Election: ‘Not the Leadership the World Needs’

. . .Democratic insiders are still stinging from losing the election to Donald Trump — and view Kamala Harris as a political “Where’s Waldo” who’s gone “MIA,” they say.

“She’s MIA!” groused one Democratic insider to Page Six of Harris.

The political source added Harris’ husband “Doug [Emhoff] is telling people she’s the leader of the party, but there is a clear lack of leadership.”

“The person you just spent $2 billion on trying to elect? I’m glad she’s having a good time going to a musical, and being repped by CAA,” said the insider, but, “this whole strategy of ‘do not do anything, or say anything,’ that’s not the kind of leadership the world needs right now.”

Last month Harris signed with CAA, and saw “A Wonderful World” and “Gypsy” on Broadway.

Trump Wants To Eliminate Fed Income Tax For 93% Of Americans, Commerce Sec Says

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said this week that President Donald Trump’s goal is to significantly cut taxes across the board, and completely eliminate the federal income tax on Americans making under $150,000 annually — which could impact 93% of Americans.

Lutnick said the administration wants to have other nations chip in through tariffs and closing overseas tax loopholes so Americans can pay less in taxes. “His goal is to have external revenue,” Lutnick said of Trump, on CBS this past Wednesday.

“The rest of the world leans on our economy, breathes off our economy,” he said. “Not only is our economy $29 trillion GDP, but we consume $20 trillion a year — we are the buyers of everybody’s stuff. So, who’s more important, the people who sell stuff, or the people who buy stuff?”

“Let them pay a membership fee — we all understand that model,” Lutnick continued. “How about no tax on tips, how about no tax on overtime, how about no social security [tax]?”

Trump Takes Aim at Government-Funded News Agency, Starts Dismantling ‘Propaganda’

President Donald Trump took a decisive step in overhauling the Voice of America (VOA) with a new executive order, slashing its operations and putting nearly all its employees on leave. The move, which aims to eliminate government-funded propaganda-fueled media outlets, is part of Trump’s broader effort to reign in biased media.

“President Trump is delivering on his promise to make our government more efficient,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told USA TODAY on Saturday. “American taxpayers should not be funding anti-American propaganda in the name of journalism.”

Before the weekend, Trump signed an executive order, “Continuing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy,” aimed at several government agencies, including the United States Agency for Global Media, the parent organization of Voice of America. He called the move “necessity.” Employees received an email informing them they were being placed on administrative leave with full pay and benefits until notified otherwise.

‘The Worst I’ve Ever Seen’: Dozens Dead Across Six States After Tornadoes, Wildfires, Dust Storms

A monster storm sweeping through parts of the U.S. whipped up tornadoes and dust storms and sparked wildfires, killing at least 34 people across six states, according to reports.

The massive storm system with winds reaching 80 mph was forecast to sweep through an over 100 million-strong area from the Canadian border to Texas, according to CBS News. It brought about wintry conditions in the north, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, dust storms, and wildfires in parts of the Midwest and on the West Coast.

Eight people died and many others were injured in a 71-vehicle pileup on I-70 in northwest Kansas Friday, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP). The multiple crashes resulted from traffic getting caught up in a severe dust storm that reduced visibility to almost zero as gusts blew in from Colorado, the KHP said.

“My thoughts are with those affected by this tragic event,” Democratic Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly said, while also calling for vigilance as the extreme weather lingered and thanking first responders and emergency personnel.

‘Stop This’: Trump Team Defies Judge’s Order to Halt Deportations of Violent ‘Monsters’

Members of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet are firing back defiantly against a federal judge’s order to block deportation of dangerous Venezuelans who are members of the notorious Tren de Aragua gang.

D.C. District Judge James Boasberg, an Obama appointee, ordered Saturday an immediate stop to deportation flights for TDA members, and even demanded planes already in flight turn around and return the violent criminals back to America.

“Any plane containing these folks that is going to take off or is in the air needs to be returned to the United States however that is accomplished,” Boasberg said, according to Politico.

“Make sure it’s complied with immediately.”

Despite the ruling, officials in the Trump administration refused to comply.

On Sunday morning, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained: “We have sent 2 dangerous top MS-13 leaders plus 21 of its most wanted back to face justice in El Salvador.

JD Vance Warns That Europe at Risk of ‘Civilizational Suicide’ Through Open Borders and Censorship

U.S. Vice President JD Vance has warned that Europe risks “civilizational suicide” if it continues to undermine fundamental Western liberties and engage in mass migration policies.

In an interview published on Friday evening with Fox News’s Laura Ingraham, Vice President Vance doubled down on his critique of the globalist agenda that dominates much of Europe, warning that, ultimately, it may be the downfall of the “the cradle of Western civilization”.

“The entire idea of Christian civilisation that led to the founding of the United States of America was formed in Europe. The cultural bonds, the religious bonds – these things are going to last beyond political disagreements,” Vance said.

“But I think that Europe, and frankly, I would have said this about America a year ago, is at risk, I think, of engaging in civilizational suicide.”

Vance particularly highlighted the open borders agenda that has come to dominate much of Europe over the past decade and the increasingly authoritarian speech restrictions imposed by supposedly liberal governments in the EU and UK. ‘Don’t You All Have Jobs?’: JD Vance Calls On Protesters Demonstrating Against His Event To Get ‘Back To Work’

Vice President J.D. Vance told workers during a speech Friday in Bay City, Michigan, that demonstrators outside the event should “get off the streets and back to work.”

Vance and U.S. Small Business Administration chief Kelly Loeffler toured Vantage Plastics, a plastic manufacturer located in Michigan, and delivered remarks on “highlighting America’s industrial resurgence.” The vice president, during a speech at the facility, said the protesters outside of the event are proof that President Donald Trump’s administration needs to bring back manufacturing to the U.S. in order for them to have less time on their hands.

“We’ve got this great event, this great facility, great business and of course, great workers and I’m sure all of us saw there were a few protesters outside and I can’t be the only person wondering, you know, it’s a little after noon on a Friday, and don’t you all have jobs?” Vance said. “I mean, who are the people? And I think that’s one of the reasons why we’ve got to rebuild American manufacturing and support great companies like Vantage Plastics because we want these people to get off the streets and back to work. It’d be good for them and it’s be good for everybody else too.”

Vantage Plastics received a $1.2 million grant from Michigan in 2023 to be based in the state and create 93 new jobs, according to Bridge Michigan. The event, attended by Vance and Loeffler, addressed the “future of American manufacturing,” which the Trump administration has strived to improve.

Trump plans to impose tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China, including 50% tariffs on Canadian aluminum and steel imported to the U.S., with the intent of returning manufacturing to the U.S. from overseas. The president also announced the creation of the “Office of Shipbuilding” with the intent to revive both commercial and military shipbuilding at a time where China has outpaced the U.S. in maritime manufacturing.
