By Melissa Quinn. Mixed among the faces of protesters nationwide calling for justice in the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown is a group of Communists fueling a movement against police officers and calling for mass demonstrations.

The Revolutionary Communist Party USA actively organizes and participates in protests against the deaths of Garner and Brown, who were both black and were killed by police officers. Now, the group is preparing for a New Year’s Eve protest that calls for an end to police brutality through whatever means possible.

The Chicago-based group, founded in 1975 and led by chairman Bob Avakian, advocates for socialism with the “final goal of a communist world.”

The Revolutionary Communist Party did not return multiple phone calls and emails from The Daily Signal requesting comment. (Read more from the story, “Meet the Communists at the Michael Brown and Eric Garner Protests” HERE)

Since Michael Brown Died, 981 Black Babies have been Aborted in Missouri, but There are no Riots for Them

By Steven Ertelt. Riots are taking place across the country in response to a grand jury’s decision not to indict a Ferguson, Missouri police officer for shooting a black teenager. The decision not to bring charges has renewed difficult racial tensions nationwide.

Yesterday, LifeNews reported how the Planned Parenthood abortion business fanned the flames of racial divide by aggressively opposing the decision in Ferguson.

Though the events in Ferguson have nothing to do with abortion, Planned Parenthood and its pro-abortion CEO Cecile Richards have been very active on Twitter condemning the decision and stoking the racial divide. Ironically, as the abortion giant jumps in the debate, it makes no mention of the fact that it preys on black Americans and aborts black babies at alarming rates.

Today, a pro-life advocate from Missouri put Planned Parenthood’s targeting of black babies in abortion into perspective. She says that while there are riots over the controversial death of a black teen in Missouri, there are no riots over the death of 981 black babies who have died in Missouri since Michael Brown died. She wonders why no one is speaking up for those black victims of violence via abortion. (Read more from this story HERE)

$300,000 Worth of Rolex Watches Stolen from Florida, Sheriff Deputy’s Truck Used in Getaway

100 dollars[Robbers] got away with about a dozen Rolex watches valued around $300,000, police [in Tampa] said Wednesday. . .

The noise of the thieves hammering the display case sounded similar enough to gunfire that it sent people running from the mall. It prompted what Tampa police said was an “active shooter” response, followed by a flood of false reports over social media that gunfire had erupted.

“We had over 100 law enforcement officers respond to this place. We had the FBI, the U.S. Marshals, the Florida Highway Patrol, Tampa International Airport,” TPD Deputy Chief Brian Dugan said. . .

Police said the suspects fled through the garage in a gray Dodge Ram Sport pickup truck with a black soft cover over the truck bed. They believe the suspects ditched the truck in the International Mall parking lot.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the truck belongs to one of their deputies, and it was reported stolen from Brandon Mall Tuesday shortly before the International Mall robbery. (Read more from this story about Rolex watches stolen in Florida HERE).

Story of Man Shot in Neighbor’s Yard Turns out to have a Heartbreaking Twist

A heartbreaking twist has been revealed in the story of a Texas man shot dead on a neighbor’s porch at 4 a.m. after police say he came knocking and demanding to be let in. According to the victim’s family, Spencer Crandall had been suffering from two ruptured discs in his back and had been taking muscle relaxers.

That, his wife said, led him to sometimes sleepwalk. . .

According to his family, he took his faith very seriously, having done his own mission. He was also an Eagle Scout.

Ryan added: “His favorite was to go out with missionaries. He loved missionary work, and teaching other people about Jesus Christ.”

WFAA-TV says the homeowner isn’t likely to be charged, especially because he said he only fired his weapon because Spencer was trying to force his way into the neighbor’s home. (Read more about the man who was shot in neighbor’s yard HERE)

2 Year Old Accidentally Shoots Mother in Walmart

An Idaho nuclear research scientist who had taken her young relatives to Walmart to spend their holiday gift cards was killed Tuesday when her 2-year-old son pulled a loaded pistol from her purse and shot her.

Deputies who responded found Veronica Rutledge, 29, dead in the Hayden store’s electronics department in what Kootenai County sheriff’s spokesman Stu Miller described as a “tragic accident.” Rutledge, who worked at the Idaho National Laboratory, was from Blackfoot in southeastern Idaho, and her family had come to the area to visit relatives.

Rutledge had a concealed weapons permit. Miller said the young boy was left in a shopping cart, reached into his mother’s purse and grabbed a small-caliber handgun, which discharged once.

The victim’s father-in-law, Terry Rutledge, told The Associated Press that Veronica Rutledge “was a beautiful, young, loving mother.”

“She was not the least bit irresponsible,” Terry Rutledge said. “She was taken much too soon.” (Read more from the story “Two Year Old Accidentally Shoots Mother” HERE)

GOP Won't be Happy About These Presidential Straw Poll Results

By Matthew Burke. While the leftstream media, the GOP establishment, and the RINO political consultant class are busy pushing the narrative that squishy moderates like Bob Dole, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and now Jeb Bush are the most “electable,” a new 2016 presidential straw poll shows that the grassroots, as they did in the Reagan years, have a completely different preference.

Out of 16 potential Republican 2016 presidential candidates, Texas Senator Ted Cruz easily took first place, with over 26% of the vote, while Kentucky Senator Rand Paul came in second place, with 22%.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker also fared well in the straw poll, coming in third place while garnering just under 16% of the votes.

Considerably back in the field were Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Ben Carson, Rick Perry, and Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican loser, all in the 5-6% range.

Pro-Common Core and Pro-Amnesty Jeb Bush received less than three percent, while Marco Rubio, perhaps still hurt by his earlier soft immigration position, received less than two percent.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie received little more than a rounding error, obtaining less than one percent of votes. (Read more from this story HERE)

McCain’s big purge

By Alex Isenstadt. Nearly a year ago, tea party agitators in Arizona managed to get John McCain censured by his own state party. Now, he’s getting his revenge.

As the longtime Republican senator lays the groundwork for a likely 2016 reelection bid, his political team is engaging in an aggressive and systematic campaign to reshape the state GOP apparatus by ridding it of conservative firebrands and replacing them with steadfast allies.

The ambitious effort — detailed to POLITICO by nearly a dozen McCain operatives, donors, and friends — has stretched from office buildings in Alexandria, Virginia, where strategists plotted and fundraisers collected cash for a super PAC, to Vietnamese-American communities across Arizona, where recruiters sought out supporters eager to help the incumbent defeat the tea party.

Team McCain’s goal? Unseat conservative activists who hold obscure, but influential, local party offices. (Read more from this story HERE)

Nevada Rancher Taunts Feds by Still Grazing Cattle on Undisputed Lands

Unbowed and unapologetic, Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy is still running his cattle on disputed grazing land eight months after his highly publicized standoff over public lands, but that doesn’t mean his feud with the federal government is over.

In a tense confrontation that generated international headlines, the 68-year-old Mr. Bundy won that round last spring: Bureau of Land Management officials agreed to leave the property and release his impounded cattle after hundreds of armed supporters descended on the Southern Nevada ranch in April. He says he hasn’t seen any sign of federal agents since.

“[W]e’ve really enjoyed some liberty and freedoms out here,” Mr. Bundy told the Las Vegas Review-Journal last month.

“Since the standoff, we haven’t seen one BLM vehicle on any of these country roads around this ranch. We haven’t seen one BLM ranger. We haven’t seen one [National] Park Service ranger. We haven’t really seen any undercover-type people,” he said. “We haven’t seen snipers on top of our hills. We haven’t seen high-tech communication equipment. We haven’t seen any of those things” . . .

His legal battle with the BLM over grazing rights, one that has resonated across the region, is ongoing. Mr. Bundy has refused to pay $1.2 million in grazing fees to the BLM, arguing that the land belongs to the state, not the federal government. The land rights issue is particularly heated in Nevada, where 85 percent of the land within the state’s borders is federally owned. (Read more about the Nevada rancher HERE)

Obamacare Train Wreck Looms for Uninsured

Photo Credit: REUTERS / Joshua Roberts

Photo Credit: REUTERS / Joshua Roberts

By Joel Himelfarb. Americans face mounting Obamacare-mandated penalties if they cannot prove to the Internal Revenue Service’s satisfaction that they had health insurance during the previous year, Fox News reports.

The law mandates a tax penalty of $95 per person or 1 percent of household income, whichever is more, for those who went without insurance during 2014. It increases to $325 for 2015 or 2 percent of income, whichever is higher. By 2016, the average penalty is expected to be about $1,100.

Government figures indicate that tens of millions of Americans remain uninsured. But it is unclear how aggressive the IRS will be in attempting to collect from those Americans deemed to be scofflaws.

The law currently lists about 30 different exemptions, most of them related to financial hardship. (Read more from this story HERE)

Then-Senator Obama Smokes a Cigarette During First Meeting With Gruber on Obamacare

By Patrick Howley. Then-Senator Barack Obama took a cigarette break during his first “educational” meeting with Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber on health care reform.

The Daily Caller extensively reported on Obama’s 2009 Oval Office meeting with Gruber to design the Obamacare bill. Obama famously called Gruber, who called the American people “stupid,” just “some adviser who was never on our staff.” But their relationship pre-dated that meeting by several years

As Gruber faces a call-back from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in the new year, and continues to withhold documents about his work for Obama, records show that Gruber served as Obama’s early health care mentor in a 2006 meeting in Obama’s Senate office. Gruber, who was linked to the Ted Kennedy-led health reform push in Massachusetts, got Obama up to speed before the Illinois senator ran for president. Gruber Said Obamacare Would not be Affordable in 2009

President Obama’s health care adviser Jonathan Gruber said that the Affordable Care Act would definitely not be affordable while he was writing the bill with the White House.

As Gruber continues to withhold documents while he awaits a call-back for more testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in the new year, more shocking information is coming to light detailing the deceptions that went into the writing of the health-care law.

Gruber said that Obamacare had no cost controls in it and would not be affordable in an October 2009 policy brief, presented here exclusively by TheDC. At the time, Gruber had already personally counseled Obama in the Oval Office and served on Obama’s presidential transition team. Obama, meanwhile, told the American people that their premiums would go down dramatically. (Read more from this story HERE)

Elderly NYC Man Attacked in Broad Daylight, Caught on Video

By Carolina Leid. William King has lived in his Bronx neighborhood for 40 years, and since 1974 he has felt safe – that is until Saturday afternoon when he was brutally beaten in broad daylight. The vicious encounter was caught on home surveillance camera.

“I got a cut above over my eyelid, and the side of my face is numb – I can’t open my mouth that well and I had a lump the size of a baseball on the side of my head,” says King.

The incident happened near the corner of Briggs Avenue and East 197th Street in Bedford Park – not in the wee hours of the morning, but at 2 in the afternoon on a beautiful, bright and busy day.

One man pounded the 67-year-old, while another acted as a lookout – both were left empty-handed.

“I believe it was a racial attack – they weren’t trying to rob me, I had money on me and my wallet and all. They weren’t trying to rob me,” adds King. (Read more about the NYC man attacked HERE)

Police Deaths Soar 24% in 2014 with Ambush Attacks Leading Cause

By David Sherfinski. Law enforcement fatalities in the United States rose 24 percent in 2014 to 126 and ambush-style attacks were the No. 1 cause of felonious officer deaths for the fifth straight year, according to preliminary data from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

The NLEOMF report said 126 federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial officers were killed in the line of duty this year, compared to 102 in 2013. The number of officers killed by firearms in 2014 — 50 — is up 56 percent from the 32 killed last year.

Fifteen officers nationwide were killed in ambush assaults in 2014, and the recent shooting deaths of New York City Police Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos have attracted national attention and contributed to tension between police and the city’s elected leaders.

The total of 15 ambush assaults matched 2012 for the highest total since 1995. (Read more from this story HERE)

Arrests Plummeting in NYC After Execution of Two NYPD Officers

By New York Post. It’s not a slowdown — it’s a virtual work stoppage.

NYPD traffic tickets and summonses for minor offenses have dropped off by a staggering 94 percent following the execution of two cops — as officers feel betrayed by the mayor and fear for their safety, The Post has learned.

The dramatic drop comes as Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and Mayor Bill de Blasio plan to hold an emergency summit on Tuesday with the heads of the five police unions to try to close the widening rift between cops and the administration.

The unprecedented meeting is being held at the new Police Academy in Queens at 2 p.m., sources said.

Angry union leaders have ordered drastic measures for their members since the Dec. 20 assassination of two NYPD cops in a patrol car, including that two units respond to every call. (Read more from this story HERE)

Dump Boehner Movement: 425,000 Letters in 5 Days

By WND. Imagine 85,000 letters demanding House Speaker John Boehner be dumped personally addressed to each House Republican including the name of the sender delivered every day when Congress reconvenes in the first week of January.

If they were delivered hourly it would represent 3,542 every 60 minutes.

That’s 59 per minute.

Now, the “Don’t Be Yellow: Dump Boehner Campaign” won’t be delivering those letters every minute or every hour – just daily. But the 425,000 yellow letters generated by the campaign to date were ordered by Americans in response to the call from WND founder Joseph Farah in just five days.

Think about that – 3,542 letters every minute, or, put another way, 59 generated every second since the campaign launched last Tuesday evening. (Read more about the dump Boehner movement HERE)

Boehner Stands by GOP Leader Who spoke to Hate Group

By Catalina Camia. House Speaker John Boehner voiced support Tuesday for Rep. Steve Scalise, as the No. 3-ranking GOP leader came under fire for addressing a white nationalist group in 2002.

“More than a decade ago, Representative Scalise made an error in judgement, and he was right to acknowledge it was wrong and inappropriate,” the Ohio Republican said in a statement. “Like many of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, I know Steve to be a man of high integrity and good character.”

Boehner said Scalise, elected in June by his fellow Republicans to be the House majority whip, has his “full confidence” to remain in the leadership job.

Boehner’s statement was the strongest show of support for Scalise, who has been trying to tamp down controversy surrounding his appearance at a 2002 conference of the European-American Unity and Rights Organization (EURO), an organization founded by former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke. The Southern Poverty Law Center says EURO, which claims to fight for “white civil rights,” is a hate group. (Read more from this story HERE)

Marijuana Use Among Adults Increasingly Climbing in Colorado and Washington

Colorado and Washington, the first states to legalize pot, have seen a spike in marijuana use among adults while the rate among teenagers has remained flat, according to two studies.

The results of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) showed that, between 2012 and 2013, people 26 and older were smoking more pot in those states. But the figures also revealed only a very slight uptick in marijuana use by children aged 12-17, according to The Washington Post.

The findings were backed up by a more recent study of pot use by the federal government’s Monitoring the Future survey.

The Post pointed out that the NSDUH survey was taken when Colorado and Washington had legalized pot use but had not yet implemented any marijuana markets, which started earlier this year.

Officials can expect the rates to climb even higher when the surveys will reflect the sales in legalized pot shops, according to the newspaper, which noted that the rate of marijuana use has also increased by “significant amounts” in Maine, Georgia, Maryland and Missouri.
