Coburn Says ObamaCare Cost him Coverage for Cancer Doctor

Republican Sen. Tom Coburn revealed Tuesday that his ObamaCare insurance plan does not cover his cancer specialist, forcing him to pay out of pocket — in the latest reminder of complications with the health law as President Obama prepares to address the nation.

The Oklahoma senator, who has been suffering from a recurrence of prostate cancer and plans to retire at the end of the current session, briefly discussed his personal situation in an interview Tuesday morning.

“I’m doing well from a health standpoint, got great docs and fortunately, even though my new coverage won’t cover my specialists, I’m going to have great care and I have a great prognosis,” he said.

Politico reported that Coburn’s office confirmed his coverage was cut and he lost coverage for his oncologist. However, Coburn reportedly will pay out of pocket in order to keep seeing the specialist. Coburn spoke earlier on MSNBC.

Like other congressional lawmakers, Coburn, 65, was required to go on the ObamaCare exchanges. Coburn’s case is one of many that will hang over the president as he delivers the State of the Union address Tuesday evening. While Obama plans to focus on economic issues — and especially agenda items like the minimum wage — lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are not letting him forget about the widespread and bipartisan concerns with the health care law.

Fed’s Predator Drone Used in North Dakota to Convict Farmer Acquitted of Original Charges

By Fox News.

What began as a wild west-style cattle-stealing case may have ushered in a brave new world of law enforcement officials using drones to gather evidence to put Americans behind bars.

In the first-ever case of a U.S. citizen being convicted and sentenced to prison based in part on evidence gathered by a drone, Lakota, N.D., farmer Rodney Brossart got a three-year sentence for his role in an armed standoff with police that began after he was accused of stealing his neighbors’ stray cattle in 2011.

Brossart was arrested on June 23, 2011, but his family refused at gun
point to let authorities armed with a search warrant onto their 3,600-acre property to investigate the neighbors’ complaint. Brossart was later released on bail, and warrants issued for his three sons, but the family refused for months to respond to orders to appear in court, prompting Nelson County Sheriff Kelly Janke to have the U.S. Border Patrol deploy a Predator drone conduct live video surveillance of the farm.

The drone monitored the family’s movements on the farm following the armed standoff. It was not clear how long the drone was deployed or whether it gathered evidence of the alleged cattle theft.

But the eye in the sky gathered enough evidence to prompt Janke’s men to finally move in in November 2011, arresting five family members on terrorizing charges.

Lakota, N.D., farmer sentenced to 6 months in terrorizing case

By Steve Lee.

Lakota, N.D., farmer Rodney Brossart was sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison, with all but six months suspended during 2.5 years of supervised probation for terrorizing law enforcement officers who arrested him over a neighbor’s stray cattle in June 2011.

The unusual case attracted wide attention because Nelson County Sheriff Kelly Janke took up the U.S. Border Patrol’s offer of live video surveillance from a large drone of Brossart’s three sons before arresting them at their farm southeast of Lakota the day after he was arrested.

“This case should have never happened,” state District Judge Joel Medd said. “Chalk it up to stubbornness, to stupidity, to being at odds with your neighbors or any combination of those. We should never have been here if the cows would have just been returned.”

Brossart was convicted in November of terrorizing two law enforcement officers who arrested him June 23, 2011, over a neighbor’s three cows and their calves that strayed on to his farm. It’s a felony with a top sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Also Tuesday, Brossart’s three sons — Thomas, Alex and Jacob, all in their 20s — pleaded guilty each to a misdemeanor charge of menacing law enforcement officers, reduced from the felony terrorizing charge, in an agreement with prosecutors.

New ‘R.I.P.’ Bullet Hailed as ‘One-Shot Man-Stopper’

A newly developed bullet from G2 Research is being billed as the last round a gun owner will ever need: a smashing hunk of copper with full metal jacket power to shred through solid objects and stop attackers in their tracks.

G2R, the Windsor, Ga., company that created the Radically Invasive Projectile, or R.I.P., says the bullet is like a full metal jacket when it strikes and is designed “to take out all your vital organs.”

“I wanted to create a round that would work well against a home intruder,” company president Cliff Brown told the Blaze. “There were so many stories out there about a woman trying to defend her home and having to shoot someone five or six times and they’d still come after her. We wanted to create an effective one-shot man-stopper.”

The bullet is made with trocar angles — edges with three angles that lead into a single point — which enable it cut through an object’s layers with greater speed and efficiency than other forms of ammunition, according to the company’s website.

GOP Ready to Surrender on Debt Ceiling

Photo Credit: AP

Photo Credit: AP

The most senior figures in the House Republican Conference are privately acknowledging that they will almost certainly have to pass what’s called a clean debt ceiling increase in the next few months, abandoning the central fight that has defined their three-year majority.

The reason for the shift in dynamics in this fight is clear. Congress has raised the debt limit twice in a row without drastic policy concessions from President Barack Obama and Senate Democrats, essentially ceding ground to Democrats. Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) are again ruling out negotiations over the nation’s borrowing limit, which would leave Republicans fighting against a unified Democratic front. It’s a tricky situation for the GOP in an election year: They would have to pass a clean debt limit bill or risk default.

The vast majority of Democrats will vote against everything except a clean debt ceiling increase, so if Republicans try to tack extraneous policy onto a debt ceiling measure, they’ll have to pass it on their own. At least a dozen Republican aides and lawmakers are highly skeptical they will be able to craft something that will attract the support of 217 GOP lawmakers. In short, Republicans have few options and even less time: The Obama administration says the debt limit must be raised by the end of February. Republicans, though, are skeptical of that date.

“I’ve been saying publicly that once we voted for the budget, you knew that you were going to get a clean debt ceiling,” said conservative Rep. Raúl Labrador (R-Idaho), referring to the recently passed budget deal that he voted against. “The time to fight for spending cuts is when you’re talking about spending, not at debt ceiling time. So when people caved on the budget and caved on the [Ryan-Murray] agreement, it’s really hard for them to come back and say, ‘We don’t want to increase the debt ceiling’ when they’ve already voted for something that increases the debt.”

Obama Vows to Act Without Congress in 2014, Amid Second-Term Woes

Photo Credit: Fox News

Photo Credit: Fox News

President Obama vowed Tuesday to use the power of the pen to chip away at his agenda in 2014, making clear he’ll sidestep Congress “wherever and whenever” he can while also lowering his sights for what is achievable at this stage in his presidency.

In his State of the Union address, Obama stopped short of proposing any sweeping new initiatives. He renewed his call for Congress to approve an immigration overhaul “this year,” but for the most part narrowed his focus to smaller-ticket items he’s vowing to do on his own.

Urging a “year of action,” he pitched what he called “concrete, practical proposals” to boost the middle class and build “new ladders of opportunity” for others to enter it.

“Some require congressional action, and I’m eager to work with all of you,” Obama said. “But America does not stand still – and neither will I. So wherever and whenever I can take steps without legislation to expand opportunity for more American families, that’s what I’m going to do.”

The speech reflected a president struggling to advance his agenda partway through his second term, in the face of a divided Congress, flagging public support and several controversies. Instead of flatly declaring what will be achieved in 2014, the president said “let’s see” where both parties can make progress.

“Mental disorder” is the leading “diagnostic group” for disabled people receiving federal disability insurance benefits, with 35.5 percent of all disabled beneficiaries having such a disorder, according to the latest Annual Statistical Report on the Social Security Disability Insurance Program.

The report provides a statistical profile of the 10,088,739 disabled beneficiaries who were receiving federal disability benefits as of December 2012.

Those 10,088,739 disabled beneficiaries were almost double the 5,044,388 disabled beneficiaries who had been in the program as of December 1995.

San Francisco’s Gay Icon Larry Brinkin Guilty of Felony Child Porn Possession (+video)

WARNING: Some of the language in this story is graphic and disturbing.

Larry Brinkin, who worked at the Human Rights Commission for the City of San Francisco for 22 years and was a prominent homosexual rights activist for more than 40 years, pleaded guilty to felony child pornography possession last week.

Brinkin is expected to serve six months in jail, five years of probation, and register as a sex offender for the rest of his life when he is sentenced on Mar. 5. But he likely will get to keep his city pension because possessing and viewing child porn apparently is not considered a crime of “moral turpitude” under San Francisco’s retirement/pension rules.

According to police, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle and SF Weekly, Brinkin had photographic images of children between the ages of 1 and 3 who were being sodomized and forced to perform oral sex on adult men.

Also, in e-mails attributed to Brinkin using the account “[email protected],” he praised interracial adult-child sex saying, in one message, “I loved especially the [N-word] 2 year old getting nailed. Hope you’ll continue so I can see what the little blond bitch is going to get. White Power! White Supremacy! White D— Rules!”

Barack Obama’s Lows Could Hurt Democrats in Alaska and Other Battleground States

Photo Credit: AP

Photo Credit: AP

Senate Democrats must defend seats this year in five of the 10 states where President Barack Obama is most unpopular.

Daily tracking numbers published Monday by Gallup highlight the treacherous map facing Democrats in the midterm elections and offer a reminder of why incumbents in West Virginia, South Dakota and Montana decided to retire rather than run again.

Obama was most unpopular in Wyoming, with an average approval rating of 22.5 percent over the course of 2013. He was most popular in Washington, D.C., with an average approval rating of 81 percent.

Republicans need to pick up six seats to win the majority in the Senate, and Obama’s approval rating is below 35 percent in five states where Democrats are trying to defend seats.

In West Virginia, where Jay Rockefeller is retiring, 25 percent approved of Obama…

In Alaska, where Mark Begich is seeking a second term, it was 33.5 percent.

Senate Republicans Pitch ObamaCare Alternative on Eve of Presidential Address

Photo Credit: Fox News

Photo Credit: Fox News

Seizing on the public’s continued anxiety over the ObamaCare rollout, a trio of Republican senators on Monday unveiled a sweeping alternative proposal they say would gut the law’s mandates and taxes while preserving consumer protections.

Sens. Orrin Hatch, of Utah; Tom Coburn, of Oklahoma; and Richard Burr, of North Carolina, announced their plan one day before President Obama delivers his State of the Union address. It is his first such address since the launch of the state and federal health care exchanges.

The GOP proposal, dubbed the Patient Choice, Affordability, Responsibility and Empowerment Act, would repeal the president’s marquee legislative achievement while instituting new reforms the senators say would give states and individuals more flexibility and purchasing power.

“Americans deserve a real alternative, and a way out,” Coburn said.

Under the plan, insurances companies would not be able to impose lifetime limits on patients and would be required to allow dependent coverage up to the age of 26, as ObamaCare currently does. The Republican proposal would address the issue of pre-existing conditions by creating a new “continuous coverage” standard that would prevent any individual moving from one insurance plan to another from being denied on the basis of a pre-existing condition so long as that individual was continuously enrolled in a health plan.

Doctor Schumer Auditions for Regime Minister of Propaganda

Photo Credit: The New Media Journal

Photo Credit: The New Media Journal

Recently, US Senator Charles Schumer – Harvard Doctor of Jurisprudence – auditioned for the position of Minister of Propaganda for the Obama Regime, and, perhaps, as a candidate to be the next Majority, or Minority, Leader of the Senate Democrats.

Doctor Schumer’s January 23, 2014 speech, delivered at the Center for American Progress, used several of Saul Alinksy’s “Rules for Radicals,” coupled with propaganda devices described by Julius Yourman in his article Propaganda Techniques Within Nazi Germany printed in the November 1939 Journal of Educational Sociology.

Schumer’s remarks, lasting fifty minutes, were titled “The Rise and Potential Fall of the TEA Party: the Fundamental Flaw in the TEA Party’s Premise and What Democrats Can Do to Exploit It.”

The founder and former president of the Center for American Progress is John Podesta. Podesta was President Clinton’s Chief of Staff from 1998-2001, co-chaired the Obama-Biden Transition Project, and is now a “White House counselor.” It requires the “willing suspension of disbelief” to think that Schumer’s speech was not choreographed from the White House, and is anything other than a preview of the Democrats’ strategy in the run-up to the midterm elections.

Schumer began his speech with this question:

“Why does the TEA Party, a group that seems to represent a small but extreme part of America, have such undue power, which, all too often, results in a stranglehold over our politics and policies?”

He defined the growth of the TEA Party as “an ingenious, well-executed plan.” In other words, it’s a conspiracy.

Here are samples of Schumer’s, essentially the Regime’s, accusations against the TEA Party that he formatted by coupling Alinsky Rule #12 – Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it – with Yourman’s Nazi Propaganda Technique #1:

“‘Name calling’ is a device to make us form a judgment without examining the evidence on which it should be based.”

According to Schumer, the TEA Party has:

▪ “…stymied Democrat priorities”
▪ “…taken a sledgehammer to programs important to tens of millions of Americans”
▪ “…had a devastating effect on domestic investments like scientific research, education, and infrastructure”
▪ Caused “voting rights” to be “rolled back”
▪ Caused the House to “stonewall” the “Senate-passed immigration law overwhelming supported by most Americans”
▪ “…shut down the government in October”
▪ “…blocked infrastructure bills that previously enjoyed bipartisan support”
▪ And has “greatly unsettled the American psyche.”

Also, “the TEA Party’s intransigence has prevented all efforts to reverse the trend” of declining middle-class incomes. Not a word, though, about how the TEA Party has increased tooth decay among poor children.

Schumer implicitly accused the TEA Party of being a racist movement that grew as a “backlash against the election of Barack Obama,” and that appeals to “parts of America” that are uncomfortable in “a different America” that “looks different, prays different, and works different.”

Doctor Schumer outlined a cascade of conspiratorial puppet masters.

First, who is behind this diabolical plot? It’s the “TEA Party elites.”

Schumer mentioned the “elites” seven times. The TEA Party elites have made:

▪ “…government the boogeyman”
▪ “…decided to light the fuse of discontent” in America
▪ “…gained extraordinary influence by being able to funnel millions of dollars into campaigns with ads that distort the truth & attack government”
▪ “…swooped in and sold many Americans on a simple nostrum: that government was to blame for all their problems. ”

“TEA Party elite have manipulated their millions of grassroots followers.” This is a variation on Yourman’s Nazi Propaganda Technique #5: “‘Plain folks’ is a device used by politicians, labor leaders, business men, and even by ministers and educations to win our confidence by appear to be people like ourselves.” The TEA Party has manipulated the “plain folks.”

But who controls the TEA Party elites? It’s the “plutocrats” who are the TEA Party “leaders”:

“The fundamental weakness in the TEA Party machine is the stark difference between what the leaders of the TEA Party elite, plutocrats like the Koch Brothers, want and what the average grassroots TEA Party follower wants.”

The plutocrats are the, “wealthy, hard right, selfish, narrow people who don’t want to pay taxes and don’t want government interfering with their companies… the plutocrats and their friends never acknowledge where government helped them.”

And who facilitates spreading the message of these plutocrats, who control the elites, who control the TEA Party members? Answer: “The Rush Limbaughs and the Fox Newses agree with the plutocrats and spread their propaganda to the masses.”

To explain the rise of the TEA party, Schumer used Yourman’s Nazi Propaganda Tactic #2 – “‘Glittering generalities’ is a device by which the propagandist identifies his program with virtue by using ‘virtue words,'” like reducing, growing, and creating.

The TEA Party is responsible for opposition to the Senate immigration bill which is based, in part, on the conservative principles of “reducing our deficit by billions, growing our economy, creating jobs and spurring new entrepreneurial activity.”

Meanwhile, “while we [the Democrats] were carefully crafting a healthcare bill that would ultimately reduce costs and improve healthcare in America, we allowed them to capture the negative. False scares of: ‘you’ll lose your Medicare or you’ll lose your employer-based healthcare if Obamacare passes,’ combined with the message: ‘healthcare = more government = disaster” predominated.'”

Schumer flips, taking positive to negative, Yourman’s Nazi Propaganda Technique #4 – Testimonial:

“a device to make us accept anything from a patent medicine or a cigarette to a program of national policy.” Schumer used negative testimonials to personalize and polarize the opposition.” (see Alinsky Rule #12, above)

In one negative testimonial he said,

“I came to realize this [namely, that grassroots Americans really like big government programs] while engaging the TEA Party members who would routinely come to picket my events during the Healthcare debate. I’d approach them and immediately someone would shout: ‘Get your government’s hands out of my pockets!'”

In detail, he described another negative testimonial that happened at

“an event on southern Staten Island in a working class, blue collar, and very Republican community. I was at a sidewalk event talking about prescription drug abuse with other legislators, Democrat and Republican, and a group came there to heckle us. The heckling was led by one very angry and very impolite gentleman. He kept interrupting us using all the standard Rush Limbaugh talking points.”

Midway through his speech, Schumer transitioned into Alinsky Rule #11 – The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.

His “four-points” progressive alternative to the TEA Party is to

1) make the case for government as a “necessary force for good”;
2) “Focus, this year, on four or five simple but compelling examples of where government can help the average family”;

Then (3) & (4) morph into a list of “five issues we should focus on”:

a) raise the minimum wage;
b) devise “a simple, concrete, government-funded program that makes it a lot easier for people to attend college”;
c) “renew our commitment to revitalizing our national infrastructure”;
d) promote “equal pay for women”;
e) address the loss American jobs to other countries that, like China, don’t play by “the rules”;

And even though he said there were five issues, he added

f) address “universal Pre-K and childcare affordability”;
g) deal “with job training and the skills gap”;
h) “provide manufacturers with the capital to expand and hire”;
i) close “corporate tax loopholes”;
j) “address the damage done by the Supreme Court’s Citizen United decision”; (11) “Finally, we have to look at electoral reform.”

Whew! Takes your breath away, doesn’t it?

Schumer rolled out a virtual hodge-podgic cornucopia of progressive initiatives – red meat to the denizens of the Center for American Progress – to counter the TEA Party mantra of less government in the next ten months. It was an example of Alinsky Rule #2 – Never go outside the expertise of your people. And those to whom his audition was addressed are the liberal progressives at the Center for American Progress who only know one direction for big government – grow it bigger.

As has been proven throughout world history, all propaganda is based on the projection of a wholly imaginary, alternative universe. At the close of his speech, the presumptive Minister of Propaganda for the Obama Regime said:

“The decline of the deficit and Obamacare as the most salient electoral issues and the prominence in the issues of government’s ability to help restore and build the middle class provides us a golden opportunity to expose what has always been a fault line in the TEA Party: that the obsessively antigovernment philosophy of the TEA Party elites does not meet the actual needs of the TEA Party membership.”

Of course, the manipulated grassroots TEA Party members are the “plain folks” for whom progressives deeply care.

Addendum: If you found this overview of Schumer’s presentation rambling and disjointed, try reading his entire speech. In comparison, the above is a bus schedule.
