Republican Councilman Shot Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

A Republican councilman in New Jersey is dead, the victim of an apparent murder-suicide.

At approximately 7 a.m. on Wednesday, police received several reports of a shooting in the parking lot of a local PSE&G, a major gas and electricity provider. When police arrived at the PSE&G in Somerset, New Jersey, about 30 miles south of Newark, they discovered 51-year-old Russell Heller, a senior distribution supervisor who had worked for the company for 11 years, shot dead.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a former PSE&G employee, 58-year-old Gary Curtis, approached Heller in the parking lot and shot him outside his vehicle. Curtis then reportedly fled the scene.

Police were able to trace Curtis’ whereabouts and, about three and a half hours after the shooting, discovered his vehicle in Bridgewater Township, about 10 miles away. When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered Curtis inside. He was dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and a firearm was located in his possession.

Investigators are still trying to determine Curtis’ former role at the utility company and what type of relationship he may have had with Heller, if any. A press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the shooting was likely an “isolated” incident and that “Mr. Heller was the intended target,” though a motive for the shooting has not yet been determined. DeSantis Responds to Trump Attack: ‘I Don’t Spend My Time Trying to Smear Other Republicans’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday brushed aside former President Donald Trump’s attempts to cast him as a “groomer” of young women, saying he is not interested in spending his time chopping down fellow Republicans.

The governor has been on the receiving end of recent Trump attacks, including the former president reposting a picture this week on social media accusing Mr. DeSantis of drinking alcohol with students when he was a teacher. The post labeled him a groomer.

“I’d also just say this,” Mr. DeSantis said at a press conference Wednesday. “I spend my time delivering results for the people of Florida and fighting against Joe Biden. That’s how I spend my time. I don’t spend my time trying to smear other Republicans.”

Mr. Trump appears intent on tarnishing the glowing image Mr. DeSantis has cultivated in the eyes of Republican voters, with hopes of shooting down his presidential hopes before he gets off the runway.

‘Sick’: Democratic Senator Shows off His ‘Heart’ Abortion Pin at SOTU

Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) wore an “abortion” pin that included a heart inside the letter “o” to the State of the Union address Tuesday night, sparking criticism online.

The Democratic Party has become increasingly radical in its abortion stance, moving away from the oft-cited “safe, legal, and rare” position to advocating for taxpayer-funded abortion on demand.

“I’m wearing my abortion pin from [Planned Parenthood Federation of America] to tonight’s State of the Union address,” Markey captioned two photos. “Abortion is essential healthcare and we need to codify this right.”

‘Middle Finger to Biden’: Saudis Boost U.S. Citizen’s Sentence to 19 Years Over Tweets After Wh Condemns Punishment

A Saudi appeals court has increased the prison sentence of US citizen Saad Almadi for tweets from 16 years to 19 years in a “middle finger” to President Biden, his son tells The Post.

The State Department told Ibrahim Almadi about the revised Saudi penalty Wednesday — months after the White House publicly condemned his father’s treatment.

“It’s not a slap in the face, it’s a middle finger,” Ibrahim told The Post, noting that his septuagenarian father has “lost more than 80 pounds” since his arrest in November 2021 on charges linked to more than a dozen tweets mildly critical of the Saudi government.

“When the US asked for an appeal, they said, ‘Here you go, 19 years!’” his son exclaimed.

Report: Biden Ordered U.S. Navy to Bomb Nord Stream Pipelines

Joe Biden repeatedly has denied the U.S. had anything to do with the recent bombings of Russia’s Nord Stream pipelines, but a startling new report is revealing that may not have been the truth.

Pulitzer-winner reporter Seymour Hersh as written at his Substack page that U.S. Navy divers, last June while operating under the cover of a “widely publicized” NATO exercise called BALTOPS22, “planted the remotely triggered explosives that, three months later, destroyed three of the four Nord Stream pipes.”

The report explains the confirmation comes from “a source with direct knowledge of the operational planning.”

Two of the lines, known as Nord Stream 1, were supplying Germany and other points in Western Europe with “cheap Russian natural gas,” the report said. . .

But, Hersh reported, “Biden’s decision to sabotage the pipelines came after more than nine months of highly secret back and forth debate inside Washington’s national security community about how to best achieve that goal. Biden Defense Department Sued for Improper Use of U.S. Military

Joe Biden’s Department of Defense is being sued for details about the use of Marines during his politicized “hate-MAGA” speech in Philadelphia last year.

In the speech, Biden stood in front of a blood-red backdrop – and was flanked by two Marines – to allege that supporters of President Trump were “an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”

“Biden’s infamous ‘Red Speech,’ which included the abuse of our Marines in its totalitarian imagery, painted a target on Trump and tens of millions of Americans for political suppression and worse,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “And, to make matters worse, the Pentagon is violating federal law by hiding records about Biden’s misuse of our military in his attempt to intimidate Americans.” . . .

Judicial Watch said its Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against Biden’s DoD seeks records about the use of those U.S. Marines for political purposes at Biden’s “controversial September 1, 2022, campaign speech in Philadelphia.”

Half of Americans Say They Are Worse Off, Highest Since Great Recession

Half of Americans say they are worse off financially than they were a year ago, the highest level of reported decline since the financial crisis, a Gallup poll released Wednesday showed.

The results are unusually grim.

“Since Gallup first asked this question in 1976, it has been rare for half or more of Americans to say they are worse off. The only other times this occurred was during the Great Recession era in 2008 and 2009,” Gallup News said.

The results of the survey, taken between January 2nd and the 22nd, suggest the high toll of inflation on the financial situation of many Americans. Average hourly and weekly wages declined for the second consecutive year in 2022, as pay increases were swamped by higher prices. Gallup said higher interest rates and the decline in the stock market also weighed on people’s view of their financial situation. IRS Moves To Go After Workers’ Tips As Biden Promises Middle Class Won’t Be Taxed More

The Internal Revenue Service released a proposed revenue procedure on Monday which would entail employers in the service industry voluntarily reporting their workers’ tips to the tax agency.

The Service Industry Tip Compliance Agreement initiative, for which the IRS is soliciting feedback through early May, would be “designed to take advantage of advancements in point-of-sale, time and attendance systems, and electronic payment settlement methods to improve tip reporting compliance,” according to a notice from the agency. The program would exist to decrease “administrative burdens” on taxpayers and IRS administrators.

Businesses involved with the initiative would submit an annual report on tips to the IRS after each calendar year; participants would thereby “receive protection from liability under the rules that define tips as part of an employee’s pay for calendar years in which they remain compliant with program requirements.” Individuals who work in restaurants, hotels, salons, and other service-oriented businesses are already required to keep a daily record of their tips and pay taxes on the earnings to the IRS.

The proposed rule comes after the IRS received an $80 billion windfall through the Inflation Reduction Act, permitting the agency to double its workforce. During his State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Joe Biden repeated his promise that the middle class would not pay more taxes as he introduced a proposal for a billionaires tax.

During a section of remarks on the decline of autocracies and strength of democracies across the world, Biden began yelling that there are no world leaders who would want to trade places with Xi. The comments were not included in a transcript of Biden’s speech released earlier in the evening by the White House.

“Autocracy has grown weaker not stronger. Name me a world leader who would change places with Xi Jinping,” Biden shouted. “Name me one! Name me one!”

GOP Slams Biden’s Legacy, ‘Failed Far Left Agenda’ Ahead of SOTU

As lawmakers gather for the Tuesday night address, the 80-year-old president is preparing to showcase his efforts to rebuild the country’s economy, set the stage for his bid for a 2024 re-election, and likely demand Congress approve an amnesty for the nation’s 11 to 22 million illegal aliens.

Fauci Admits COVID Shots Didn’t Have a Chance of Controlling the Pandemic

Dr. Anthony Fauci admitted in a recently published research paper that COVID-19 vaccines could not have been reasonably expected to get the pandemic under control.

Fauci and other top government and healthcare officials repeatedly stressed during the pandemic that getting vaccinated would stop the spread of COVID-19 and was the most important step individuals could take to end the pandemic. However, in the paper published Jan. 11 in Cell Press, Fauci and two co-authors write that respiratory viruses like SARS-CoV-2 and the flu have never been well-contained by vaccines.

“Because these viruses generally do not elicit complete and durable protective immunity by themselves, they have not to date been effectively controlled by licensed or experimental vaccines,” Fauci and his co-authors, David Morens and Jeffrey Taubenberger of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), wrote in the paper.

The analysis, titled “Rethinking next-generation vaccines for coronaviruses, influenza viruses, and other respiratory viruses,” highlights shortcomings in current vaccine technology for respiratory viruses and speculates on how it might be improved going forward. The authors compare SARS-CoV-2 to influenza, for which they say “only less than suboptimal vaccines” exist.

Vaccine technology for influenza has not evolved much since 1957, they said, leading to influenza being the deadliest vaccine-preventable viral respiratory disease. Flu shots have only been between 14 and 60 percent effective at stopping infection over the past 15 flu seasons, according to the paper.
