Major City to Dole Out $12,000, Free Phones to Homeless Trans, ‘Non-Binary’ People

Denver plans to dole out free phones and $12,000 apiece to 140 homeless women and transgender and “non-binary” people over the next year as part of a bigger partnership with a local nonprofit, according to a report.

The money, which totals about $1.7 million, will come out of a $2 million fund from the federal American Rescue Plan Act under a plan the city council approved, according to Axios. The money comes with no strings attached and makes Denver the latest Democratic-run city to experiment with universal basic income.

“The Denver Basic Income Project is an opportunity to explore how the philanthropic community and the private sector can augment public support for those living in poverty, particularly our unhoused neighbors, and extend that hand up to stability,’ Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said in a statement.

The city’s funds will be passed through the Denver Basic Income Project, a nonprofit that plans to raise some $9 million to hand out to an estimated 820 homeless women and transgender and non-binary people. Supreme Court Case Scores Another Second Amendment Win in DC

A Washington, D.C., regulatory limit on how much ammunition a concealed carry handgun permit holder can carry was removed after a local resident filed a lawsuit in federal court this summer.

On Sept. 14, Robert J. Contee III of the Metropolitan Police Department gave notice to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Circuit that he had repealed the district’s ban on carrying more than 20 rounds, citing an emergency basis for the decision.

“On review of these developments, this regulation, its enforcement history, and in consideration of other regulations that govern concealed-carry licensees, the Chief has determined that emergency rulemaking action is prudent and necessary for the immediate preservation of the welfare of District residents and to enable the District to avoid accruing liability for attorney fees in legal challenges,” Contee wrote in the legal filing.

The concern of liability stemmed from a notorious civil activist named Dick Heller, who for the second time in under a year succeeded in amending the district’s gun laws after suing in federal court. Heller became a household name in the legal world after the Supreme Court’s 2008 ruling in District of Columbia v. Not Just NYC: Ohio Town Tried to Allow Noncitizens to Vote, Prompting State Ballot Initiative

Allowing non-citizens to vote is something that one expects to hear about in liberal parts of the country, such as in cities in Vermont. Legal battles are continuing in New York City, after a judge ruled in June that non-citizens could not vote in municipal elections after all, though it’s going through appeals. Now, however, that liberal dream of creating new Democratic voters is coming to middle America.

Over the weekend, in Avon, Ohio, Townhall spoke with Republican JD Vance, who is running against Democrat Rep. Tim Ryan for Ohio’s open Senate seat. Secretary of State Frank LaRose, who holds the distinction of being the only secretary of state endorsed by former President Donald Trump, also gave remarks, and spoke with Townhall exclusively after the event as well.

Shortly before Vance took to the stage, LaRose spoke to the standing room only crowd of an estimated 150-200 attendees to tout the successes of the state’s elections, where Ohioans can be confident they’ll know the results of the election that night. It’s not just candidates that voters must pay attention to on the ballot, but also ballot initiative, including Issue 2, which handles non-citizens voting in local elections. Voting in favor of the initiative supports “prohibiting local governments from allowing noncitizens or those who lack the qualifications of an elector to vote in local elections.”

Ohioans take pride in their elections, which includes cherishing it as a right that only citizens have. However, the liberal college town of Yellow Springs, held a referendum and decided in favor by 58 to 42 percent to allow non-citizens to vote in local elections. Upon LaRose sending them a letter that they could do no such thing, the town complied.

As LaRose admitted during his remarks and while speaking with Townhall afterwards, however, had Yellow Springs sued him, it’s possible they would win. He is confident that his argument would likely prevail, but one can never be too sure given that there is just enough ambiguity on local races. IRS Gave Tax-Exempt Status to Soros-Backed Group Accused of Targeting ‘Trump Republicans’

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which has a well-documented history of targeting conservatives, granted tax-exempt status in April to a Soros-backed organization now accused of trying to pay an attorney to spread “fake news” about former President Donald Trump and “Trump Republicans.”

Attorney and legal commentator Preston Moore posted a video over the weekend saying he was offered, and rejected, $400 by the “Good Information Foundation” to make a video attacking Donald Trump and “Trump Republicans.” The foundation allegedly wanted Moore to create the video about January 6 and post it on his social media platforms to reach the widest possible audience.

Moore emphasized he is not a Trump supporter and had initially considered accepting, until the organization began dodging questions about the factual accuracy of its campaign. In Moore’s video, he includes email screenshots allegedly from the Good Information Foundation with “important notes” which read:

Say “criminal conspiracy,” not “attempted coup,” “treason,” or “insurrection.” Say “Trump Republicans,” not “Trump and his allies.” Say “January 6th investigation” not “hearing” or “trial” Call this an “attack on our country” or an attack on “America” or on “Americans” and a “criminal conspiracy,” “committed crime.” Talk about “MAGA Republicans” etc. Make clear this is an ongoing and unresolved, not past and done. Show voter agency, turn the anger into defiance.

“It became really clear that … they wanted me to use the most graphic images possible,” he told Breitbart News. “They wanted me to use fear to manipulate people into voting blue, or into voting not Trump. … And when they’re giving examples of the things they wanted me to say — don’t say ‘Trump and his allies,’ say ‘Trump Republicans’ — it became really clear that this was about putting out information … to impact midterms.”

China on Martha’s Vineyard: Democrats ‘Hostile and Fearful Toward Migrants’

China’s state-run propaganda newspaper, Global Times, asserted in a column published Sunday that this weekend’s situation on Martha’s Vineyard, an elite Massachusetts vacation destination, revealed that America is a “savage” place and Democrats are “hostile and fearful toward migrants.”

China is one of the world’s least hospitable nations for migrants, with a notorious track record of deporting North Korean refugees who try to escape – and thus, likely face imprisonment in a labor camp or death at home – and severe racist treatment against Africans who choose to make China their home. China is believed to be home to about 1.4 million foreign-born residents, an order of magnitude less than its total population.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis triggered a political firestorm last week by sending 50 Venezuelan refugees fleeing socialism to Martha’s Vineyard, famous for being home to the Obama family vacation estate. Martha’s Vineyard, also home to predominantly Democrat voters, declared itself, during the administration of former President Donald Trump, a “sanctuary” destination. This means it would theoretically welcome migrants illegally present in the United States, a designation that DeSantis’s administration used to explain why it chose the wealthy area as a destination. Gavin Newsom Will Run for President in 2024 if Biden Doesn’t: Report

Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom of California will run for president in 2024 should President Joe Biden not seek re-election, according to a report by The Wrap on Monday.

One source close to Newsom, a Democratic fundraiser in California, told The Wrap about Newsom’s plans, which were confirmed by another source. Newsom “absolutely is going to announce that he is running for the presidency once Biden announces that he is not running,” said the fundraiser, according to The Wrap.

Since Roe v. Wade was overturned, Newsom has been launching ad campaigns in several Republican-run states – challenging their new restrictions on abortion and inviting women there to receive abortions in California. He has also clashed with Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida and, after the latter flew migrants from the southern border to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, challenged him to a debate.

Religious School Suspends ALL Clubs After Ordered to Push LGBT Agenda

A religious school that was ordered by the U.S. Supreme Court to recognize an LGBT student organization has instead suspended all student groups while it evaluates the high court’s orders.

A report in the Washington Examiner cited a “backlash” from students at Yeshiva University, after the New York school suspended student club activities until further notice.

That announcement came after the Supreme Court, 5-4, ordered the school to recognize an LGBT club.

“In an email sent Friday by Yeshiva’s Office of Student Life, the New York City-based university said it would ‘hold off on all undergraduate club activities’ while it assesses the impact of the Supreme Court’s Wednesday ruling, which requires the university to recognize the Yeshiva University Pride Alliance while legal challenges play out,” the Examiner said.

“The university will hold off on all undergraduate club activities while it immediately takes steps to follow the roadmap provided by the U.S. Supreme Court to protect YU’s religious freedom,” the university said. State Enacts Law to Help LGBTQ Military Veterans Get Benefits Back

A new law in California will help military service members who were discharged under “don’t ask, don’t tell” policies because of their sexual or gender identities to reestablish their eligibility for Veterans Affairs benefits, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Saturday.

“For decades, our bravest heroes, men and women who wore the uniforms of the armed services had to hide who they really were, and many were other than honorably discharged if their sexuality was discovered,” Newsom said in a statement after announcing he had signed the bill.

Gays and lesbians were banned in the military until the 1993 approval of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” which allowed them to serve only if they did not openly acknowledge their sexual orientation. Rather than helping, advocates say, the policy created more problems. In its entire history, the military dismissed more than 100,000 service members based on their sexual or gender identities — 14,000 of them during “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

Repeal of the law was approved by Congress and then President Barack Obama in late 2010 and took effect nine months later, allowing lesbian, gay and bisexual people to serve openly. (Read more from “State Enacts Law to Help LGBTQ Military Veterans Get Benefits Back” HERE)

Ron DeSantis Vows More Migrant Flights to Martha’s Vineyard: ‘Just the Beginning’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is promising more flights packed with illegal aliens will be sent to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. and other liberal enclaves.

During a press conference last week, DeSantis vowed to Floridians that he will send more flights of illegal aliens to the homes of the Democrat party’s wealthiest communities.

“Now we see, in New York and D.C., they used to beat their chests when Trump was in office, saying they are sanctuary jurisdictions,” DeSantis said. “Then the minute Texas starts busing there, they get very bent out of shape about it.”

“These are just the beginning efforts,” DeSantis continued. “We got an infrastructure in place now. There is going to be a lot more that’s happening.”

The remarks came after DeSantis sent 50 illegal aliens to the elite coastal island of Martha’s Vineyard — which voted up to 84 percent for President Joe Biden. Officials on the island quickly declared a “humanitarian crisis” and the illegal aliens were swiftly deported on buses to Joint Base Cape Cod. Another Busload of Illegal Aliens Dropped off at Harris’ House

More busloads of illegal migrants arrived once again at the doorstep of Vice President Kamala Harris’ D.C. home, the third in only a week.

About 5o men, women and children were caught on camera arriving outside of the Naval Observatory.

“The Biden-Harris Administration continues ignoring and denying the historic crisis at our southern border, which has endangered and overwhelmed Texas communities for almost two years… our supposed Border Czar, Vice President Kamala Harris, has yet to even visit the border to see firsthand the impact of the open border policies she has helped implement, even going so far as to claim the border is ‘secure.’ Texas will continue sending migrants to sanctuary cities like Washington, D.C. until President Biden and Border Czar Harris step up and do their jobs to secure the border,” Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) said in a press release.

More than 100 migrants believed to be from Colombia, Cuba, Guyana, Nicaragua, Panama, and Venezuela, were dropped off in an effort to bring awareness to the Biden administration and what their open border policies have done to the country.
