Acosta: “No Knowledge” Epstein Was an Intelligence Asset — Despite Prior Claims

Former Labor Secretary Alex Acosta, who as a federal prosecutor brokered Jeffrey Epstein’s controversial 2008 plea deal, is again under scrutiny after denying claims that Epstein had ties to U.S. or foreign intelligence agencies. The denials came during a closed-door House Oversight Committee interview on September 19, newly released in full on Friday.

Acosta’s testimony sought to address a long-circulating theory that Epstein’s unusually lenient treatment was due to his supposed status as an “intelligence asset.” The claim — reportedly linked to a comment Acosta allegedly made while serving in the Trump administration — has fueled speculation about whether Epstein’s protection reached into government or intelligence circles.

During questioning by Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM), Acosta denied ever suggesting that Epstein “belonged to intelligence,” a phrase that has become central to the ongoing public debate over Epstein’s political connections.

“I did not know if that was the source of that anonymous White House quote,” Acosta said. “I’ve been asked about that. I didn’t know where it came from. I’ll take your word it came from Mr. [Steve] Bannon, but I don’t know where it came from. I never made that assertion.”

Acosta further testified that he never spoke to Steve Bannon about Epstein, and that no one from the CIA, NSA, State Department, or FBI’s intelligence division ever contacted him during the Epstein investigation. He maintained that he had “no knowledge” of whether Epstein was tied to intelligence agencies — domestic or foreign.

When asked whether anyone had told him Epstein couldn’t be prosecuted because he was “an asset,” Acosta said flatly: “No one approached me and said that.”

The theory that Epstein was protected by intelligence agencies dates back to his 2008 plea deal, which allowed him to avoid serious federal charges despite evidence of trafficking underage girls. Acosta, then the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, approved the agreement — one critics have described as a “sweetheart deal.”

The speculation intensified in 2019, when a report by the Daily Beast claimed that Acosta told Trump transition officials Epstein “belonged to intelligence” and that he had been told to “leave it alone.” Acosta denied making that remark at the time, calling it “categorically false.”

Still, the story has persisted. Former Trump strategist Steve Bannon was later said to have repeated the “intelligence” claim, reportedly attributing it to Acosta — though, as the new transcript shows, Acosta denied ever discussing Epstein with Bannon.

The Trump administration’s handling of Epstein-related questions has often drawn attention — particularly given Epstein’s past ties to Trump himself. Trump and Epstein were known to socialize in Palm Beach in the 1990s, and Trump once famously called Epstein a “terrific guy” who “likes beautiful women… on the younger side.”

However, Trump later claimed to have cut off contact with Epstein, saying he was “not a fan.”

In July 2025, speculation about Epstein’s supposed intelligence connections resurfaced when Attorney General Pam Bondi — serving in the current Trump cabinet — was asked about the allegation during a public meeting. When questioned whether Epstein might have been an intelligence asset, Bondi replied, “I have no knowledge about that. We can get back to you on that.”

Her noncommittal response reignited speculation, leading to renewed scrutiny of Acosta’s earlier comments and fueling public demands for more transparency regarding Epstein’s network and possible protection from prosecution.

Despite Acosta’s denials, his testimony underscores how questions surrounding Epstein’s connections remain unresolved years after the financier’s death in federal custody. The Oversight Committee’s transcript offers no evidence of intelligence involvement — but also no definitive explanation for why Epstein received such favorable treatment in 2008.

Critics argue that Acosta’s responses continue a pattern of ambiguity that has characterized official statements about Epstein across multiple administrations — including Trump’s.

While Acosta insists he had no knowledge of any intelligence ties, the persistence of the theory — and its reappearance in Trump-era discourse — shows how the Epstein case continues to haunt Washington’s political and intelligence circles.

As one Democratic committee staffer noted off-record, “The problem is that every denial seems to raise new questions. The Epstein story has never really been closed.”

Zelensky Is Asked About ‘What Specific Concessions’ He Is Willing to Make to End Ukraine-Russia War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was asked “what specific concessions” he would be willing to make in order to bring the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine to an end.

During a meeting between President Donald Trump and Zelensky at the White House on Friday, Cara Castronuova, a reporter with LindellTV, pointed out that Trump had just “brokered a peace deal in the Middle East” and pointed out that in order to do that, “both sides had to meet concessions.”

“Our President has stuck out his neck in many ways to make a peace deal for your war, as well,” Castronuova said to Zelensky during a meeting at the White House with President Donald Trump. “What specific concessions are you willing to make to end this war with Russia? Will you give up joining NATO?”

Castronuova continued to point out that “Americans have foreign war fatigue.”

Zelensky proceeded to question if Castronuova had aimed her question at him and then explained that both sides “need to sit and speak,” and added that there needed to be a “ceasefire.” (Read more from “Zelensky Is Asked About ‘What Specific Concessions’ He Is Willing to Make to End Ukraine-Russia War” HERE)

Venezuelan Dictator Nicolas Maduro ‘Doesn’t Want to F–k Around’ With US, Trump Says

President Trump dropped an F-bomb Friday as he explained why Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro appears willing to give the US a stake in the South American nation’s oil and mineral wealth.

“He’s offered everything. You know why? Because he doesn’t want to f–k around with the United States,” Trump said of Maduro, during a White House meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Maduro regime reportedly offered to provide US companies preferential contracts and access to all existing and future oil and gold projects in Venezuela as part of a deal discussed with Trump administration officials, according to the New York Times.

Maduro also pledged to stop selling Venezuelan oil to China and slash energy and mining contracts Venezuela had entered into with Chinese, Iranian and Russian companies, the outlet reported.

The deal fell apart after Trump reportedly ordered special envoy Richard Grenell to end all diplomatic outreach to Venezuela last week, as the US military continues to carry out strikes against drug boats in the Caribbean Sea. Fairfax County Schools Double Down After Whistleblower Exposes Secret Student Abortions

Back in August, a Fairfax County, VA teacher blew the whistle on her district helping girls get abortions without parental knowledge or consent.

As Townhall reported at the time, the district denied knowing anything about the abortions until recently, despite the whistleblower teacher making officials aware of them on multiple prior occasions.

Fairfax County Public School teachers have been helping students obtain abortions without the knowledge and consent of their parents, according to a whistleblower who recently exposed the scandal.

Now, the school district is claiming they just learned of the matter, even though the whistleblower, Centrevile High School teacher Zenaida Perez, had brought it to their attention on multiple occasions.

It’s a scandal and possibly criminal.

Now, the Fairfax Schools have published what amounts to a “Mean Girls” style burn book.

Still a ‘Dem Hoax?’: Prince Andrew Gives Up Royal Titles Including Duke of York

Prince Andrew is giving up his titles, including the Duke of York, following “discussion with the King”.

In a statement, Prince Andrew said that the “continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.”

Prince Andrew will remain a prince, but will cease to be the Duke of York – a title received from his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth – as well as giving up membership of the Order of the Garter, the oldest and most senior order of chivalry in Britain.

Prince Andrew has been under growing pressure over his links with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In the statement, he said: “I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

Sarah Ferguson, his former wife, will no longer be known as the Duchess of York, but their daughters – Beatrice and Eugenie – will continue to have the title of princess. (Read more from “Still a ‘Dem Hoax?’: Prince Andrew Gives Up Royal Titles Including Duke of York” HERE)

Trump Orders Lying Ex-Long Island Rep. George Santos’ Release From Prison

President Trump commuted serial fabulist and former GOP Rep. George Santos’ seven-year prison sentence on Friday, citing “horrible” mistreatment by the Bureau of Prisons and claiming Santos’ unlawful conduct was not nearly as bad as the fibs of Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.).

Santos, 36, sobbed in court during his April 25 sentencing after pleading guilty to federal wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. He reported to FCI Fairton in Fairfield Township, NJ, on July 25.

He’s since dished to The South Shore Press on the appalling “fluorescent yellow … state-issued polyester” jumpsuits, as well as mold and broken AC units in the prison.

The lying Long Island pol admitted in August 2024 to defrauding donors to his successful 2022 House campaign and using the names of dozens of others — including family and friends — to falsely inflate his number of contributors.

“George Santos was somewhat of a ‘rogue,’ but there are many rogues throughout our Country that aren’t forced to serve seven years in prison,” Trump said on Truth Social as he flew from Washington to his Mar-a-Lago resort. “I started to think about George when the subject of Democrat Senator Richard ‘Da Nang Dick’ Blumenthal came up again.” (Read more from “Trump Orders Lying Ex-Long Island Rep. Democratic Senate Candidate Graham Platner Calls For Violence In Now-Deleted Posts

Democratic Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner once urged violence as a tool for social change in a now-deleted Reddit post, according to Politico.

Platner, a former Marine and oyster farmer, wrote in 2018 that “an armed working class is a requirement for economic justice” and suggested that those who “expect to fight fascism without a good semi-automatic rifle” should “do some reading of history,” the outlet reported.

Platner did not dispute his authorship of the posts but renounced his past rhetoric in a statement to Politico.

“As I told CNN, I was f**king around on the internet at a time when I felt lost and very disillusioned with our government who sent me overseas to watch my friends die,” Platner said. “I made dumb jokes and picked fights. But of course I’m not a socialist. I’m a small business owner, a Marine Corps veteran, and a retired s**tposter.”

Trump Threatens to ‘Go In and Kill’ Hamas if Gaza Executions Continue

By New York Post. President Trump threatened Thursday to “go in and kill” Hamas terrorists if they continue to slaughter suspected adversaries in Gaza following the jihadists’ truce with Israel.

“If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them,” Trump warned in a short Truth Social post.

“Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Disturbing footage emerged on social media this week showing public executions of Palestinians, who were blindfolded and forced to their knees before they were shot from behind by Hamas gunmen.

The terror group claimed the targeted Palestinians were “criminals and collaborators with Israel,” according to the BBC.

Following the breakthrough cease-fire that has stopped – for now – two years of war, Hamas has worked quickly to reassert control of the Gaza Strip. (Read more from “Trump Threatens to ‘Go In and Kill’ Hamas if Gaza Executions Continue” HERE)

Israel blocking Turkish rescue teams from Gaza until Hamas returns hostages’ remains – official

By The Jerusalem Post. Israel will continue refusing to allow a Turkish delegation of 81 rescue personnel and heavy equipment to enter the Gaza Strip until Hamas returns all the remains of deceased hostages that it can, an Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.

“There is a group of hostages’ bodies that Hamas can return right now [and] another group they know the location of, but they need equipment and assistance to retrieve them,” another source said. “And there are some bodies they genuinely do not know where they are.”

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said Thursday: “We know for certain that Hamas can easily release a significant number of hostages in accordance with the agreement. What they are doing now is a fundamental violation of that agreement.”

After the meeting, Netanyahu spoke with Trump regarding Hamas’s delayed return of the remaining deceased hostages in Gaza. . .

Mediators have said heavy equipment and experienced rescue teams would be essential to recover the remains. (Read more from “Israel blocking Turkish rescue teams from Gaza until Hamas returns hostages’ remains – official” HERE)

Horror as airports across America and Canada blast pro-Hamas messages over their loudspeakers

By Daily Mail. The public address systems of four airports across the US and Canada were hacked to blast pro-Hamas political messages and disparage President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benajmin Netanyahu.

Videos taken by confused passengers at Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania have emerged on social media as the group claiming responsibility for the stunt warned of ‘a second September 11.’

In the footage, a computer-generated sounding voice can be heard chanting ‘Free, free Palestine’ and ‘F**k Netanyahu and Trump.’ The voice can also be heard saying, ‘Turkish hacker Siberislam is here.’ . . .

Similar hacks were reported at three other airports by Transport Canada, the agency that regulates airport operations north of the border. The affected locations were Kelowna International Airport and Victoria International Airport in British Columbia and Windsor International Airport in Ontario.

The hack also impacted flight information displays and plastered pro-Hamas messages across the screens. In red lettering over a black background the text read ‘Isreal lost the war, Hamas won honorably you are a pig, Donald Trump.’ (Read more from “Horror as airports across America and Canada blast pro-Hamas messages over their loudspeakers” HERE)

European Socialists Suddenly Realize Open Border Policies Makes People Hate Them

Europe’s socialist leaders are avoiding the topic of illegal immigration as they struggle to compete with conservative populism across the continent.

The Party of European Socialists (PES), Europe’s second-largest political group, is hosting a three-day summit in Amsterdam beginning Thursday to energize activists as elections play out in various European countries. However, the leftist coalition will barely be addressing the issue of mass immigration, despite it being a top concern among European leaders.

“Migrants are increasingly criminalized and used as a scapegoat for social and economic hardships and to justify discriminatory policies,” states the one and only reference to the subject in the PES’ final declaration of the congress, first obtained by Politico. A Social Policy program, to be approved on Friday, also states the need to guarantee “the protection of migrants, asylum seekers and undocumented people.”

Immigration is not mentioned in an outline establishing the group’s priorities and talking points, and there is no scheduled debate for the issue, according to Politico.

Europe experienced an illegal immigration crisis in the mid-2010s when civil war in Syria and other international conflicts caused massive refugee flows, with more than one million illegal migrants landing on the continent in 2015. Democrats Block Legislation To Pay Troops During Shutdown

Democrats blocked the Senate from considering a defense spending bill on Thursday afternoon that would pay military service members during the shutdown.

Senators voted 50 to 44, with just three Democrats breaking with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to advance a full-year defense appropriations bill. The failed vote comes as Congress is locked in a stalemate to end the 16-day shutdown with Democrats largely refusing to cross party lines and reopen the government.

The defense appropriations bill would fund the Department of War for the upcoming fiscal year and ensure that active-duty troops do not miss a paycheck during the shutdown. The measure also includes a military pay raise.

Military personnel would have gone without pay for the first time in U.S. history on Wednesday if President Donald Trump had not tapped unused Pentagon funding to temporarily cover troop pay.

However, there is no guarantee of future paychecks for military personnel if the shutdown continues into November. (Read more from “Democrats Block Legislation To Pay Troops During Shutdown” HERE)
