Mike Pence Endorses GOP Rival of Trump-Backed Candidate for Governor

Former Vice President Mike Pence on Monday endorsed Karrin Taylor Robson, who is running against Trump-backed, former TV news anchor Kari Lake in the GOP primary for Arizona governor.

The endorsement further escalated the public rift between Mr. Pence and his former boss, teeing up another high-profile intraparty showdown ahead of the Aug. 2 primary.

Ms. Robson, a real estate developer and former member of the Arizona Board of Regents, is “the best choice for Arizona’s future” who will “keep Arizona’s border secure and streets safe, empower parents and create great schools, and promote conservative values,” Mr. Pence said.

“I am honored to announce the endorsement of former Vice President @Mike_Pence,” Ms. Robson tweeted. “He has been a warrior for the sanctity of Life; limited government; law & order; opportunity for all; & the knowledge that our freedoms are granted by God. I’m proud to have him on my team.” (Read more from “Mike Pence Endorses GOP Rival of Trump-Backed Candidate for Governor” HERE)

Hunter’s Laptop Shows Dozens of Meetings With Dad, Business Partners

The personal calendar on the infamous abandoned laptop indicates Hunter Biden and his business partners met at the White House or the vice president’s residence with Joe Biden dozens of times, often immediately upon returning from business trips.

While Joe Biden continues to insist he never discussed his son’s business with him, the timing of the meetings and the people who participated suggest the president had an interest in the details of those deals.

Eric Schwerin, the president of Hunter Biden’s investment company Rosemont Seneca Partners, is named as a calendar invite recipient on 21 of 30 listed meetings, the New York Post reports.

The paper noted Schwerin had access to Joe Biden’s personal financial information.

Among the many significant entries, the calendar shows that four days after Hunter Biden met with billionaire oligarchs in Moscow Feb. 15-18, 2012, he met with Vice President Biden at the Naval Observatory. Liberal Privilege: Charges Dropped Against Leftist Journalists Who Illegally Entered Capitol Buildings on Jan. 6

The “Colbert 9” were cleared of “unlawful entry” charges Monday after staffers for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” were caught recording comedy skits inside a House Office Building after hours without permission in June.

A statement from the U.S. Attorney’s office read: “After a comprehensive review of all of the evidence and the relevant legal authority, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia has determined that it cannot move forward with misdemeanor charges of unlawful entry against the nine individuals who were arrested on June 16, 2022 at the Longworth Office Building. The individuals, who entered the building on two separate occasions, were invited by Congressional staffers to enter the building in each instance and were never asked to leave by the staffers who invited them, though, members of the group had been told at various points by the U.S. Capitol Police that they were supposed to have an escort. The Office would be required to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that these invited guests were guilty of the crime of unlawful entry because their escort chose to leave them unattended. We do not believe it is probable that the Office would be able to obtain and sustain convictions on these charges. The defendants no longer will be required to appear for a scheduled hearing in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on July 20, 2022.”

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) released a statement saying they “respect the decision that office has made” and referred any questions about the decision to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Fox News is told the Capitol Police are upset about the decision to drop the charges, especially since the Colbert 9 were told on multiple occasions they weren’t supposed to be there. Sources close to the Capitol Police also tell Fox this undercuts law enforcement as they try to secure the Capitol complex after the riot. ‘Hillary Clinton Levels of Cringe’: Nikki Haley Refers to Next President as ‘Her’

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley hinted at launching a presidential campaign on Monday, referring to the next president as “her” during a speech at the Christians United for Israel summit held just outside Washington D.C.

While speaking about President Joe Biden potentially entering a revamped Iran nuclear deal, Haley told the crowd, “and if this president signs any sort of deal, I’ll make you a promise. The next President will shred it – on her first day in office.”

Although Haley did not officially launch a presidential bid, her use of the female pronoun prompted speculation from many political pundits that she was referring to herself as the next president.

Former Trump White House aide Steven Cheung said Haley’s comments were “Hillary Clinton levels of cringe.”

Lawmakers Call on Gen. Milley to Answer Report He Broke Trump’s Military Chain of Command

Congressional lawmakers have called on Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark A. Milley to respond to reports that he cut off the statutory chain of command at the end of President Trump‘s term, undermining civilian control of the military.

Gen. Milley told lawmakers last year at a congressional hearing that he contacted his Chinese counterpart two times to tell him that the U.S. had no plans to attack China.

Rep. Jim Banks, Indiana Republican, said in a speech that Gen. Milley must “set the record straight.”

“General Milley is accused of secretly seizing the president’s military powers. That is the most serious crime. If he is innocent, he has a duty to say so,” he said.

The phone calls to China were detailed in the book “Peril” written by Washington Post journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa. (Read more from “Lawmakers Call on Gen. Milley to Answer Report He Broke Trump’s Military Chain of Command” HERE)

FedEx Lost a Man’s Body Three Years Ago, but That’s Not the Weirdest Part of the Story

Three years ago, Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office sent the remains of Jeffrey Merriweather to St. Louis for testing, but they never arrived.

The medical examiner sent Merriweather’s remains via FedEx in a box weighing 18.6 lbs, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC). It’s unclear why the examiner used FedEx, who prohibit customers from sending human remains via their service, the AJC noted.

What’s even more unclear is how Merriweather, a 32-year-old man, became nothing more than skeletal remains less than two weeks after he was seen alive, the AJC reported. The answer to this question is precisely why his remains were mailed to St. Louis via FedEx, the report continued.

Merriweather was reported missing in June 2019, AJC reported. His body was discovered under an air mattress behind a house in southwest Atlanta ten days later, with court documents suggesting that he was shot to death in a drug deal gone wrong, the outlet noted. Report Reveals Chilling Way Uvalde School Shooter Easily Amassed Weapons on His Birthday

A damning Texas probe into the Uvalde school massacre reveals in excruciating detail how easily and quickly the killer amassed his ammo and weapons.

Fiend Salvador Ramos had tried to convince kin to buy him weapons before he legally turned 18 on May 16, to no avail.

So he busied himself purchasing firearms accessories about three months before — “including 60 30-round magazines, a holographic weapon sight, and a Hellfire Gen 2 snap-on trigger system” — and on his 18th birthday, began stockpiling the other crucial elements to his slaughter, the report found.

That day — a week before he fatally gunned down 19 fourth-graders and two teachers at his old elementary school — “an online retailer shipped 1,740 rounds of 5.56mm 75-grain boat tail hollow point [bullets] to his doorstep, at a cost of $1,761.50,’’ the report said.

Ramos also “ordered a Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 (an AR-15-style rifle) for shipment to a gun store in Uvalde, at a cost of $2,054.28 (including tax and transfer fee),’’ the probe found. (Read more from “Report Reveals Chilling Way Uvalde School Shooter Easily Amassed Weapons on His Birthday” HERE)

Federal Judge Delivers Blow to Biden Administration’s Gender-Identity Directives

The Biden administration has leaned heavily on the Supreme Court’s Bostock decision to defend its gender identity directives on sports, pronouns and restrooms, but a federal judge is having none of it.

U.S. District Court Judge Charles Atchley, a Trump appointee in the Eastern District of Tennessee, temporarily blocked anti-discrimination guidances issued last year by the Education Department and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and sided with a coalition of 20 Republican attorneys general.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt was among the Republicans who hailed the judge’s order in the lawsuit, which was filed in August.

MLB draft: Nationals pick Jake Bennett in second round
“We sued the Biden administration to stop it from punishing states that keep men out of women’s sports,” Mr. Schmidt said in a Sunday tweet. “Late Friday, the judge agreed and granted us a temporary injunction.”

The attorneys general argued that the Biden administration exceeded its authority with its sweeping directives on employment, scholastic sports and public accommodations, which the Biden administration defended by citing the Supreme Court’s 2020 ruling in Bostock v. Clayton County. (Read more from “Federal Judge Delivers Blow to Biden Administration’s Gender-Identity Directives” HERE)

These Are the Potential Democratic 2024 Presidential Hopefuls

Sen. Bernie Sanders appeared for the first time on a Washington Post ranking of potential Democratic presidential hopefuls — that also showed Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg pulling ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris in the No. 2 slot behind President Biden.

Progressive lightning rod Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez remained at No. 10 in the newspaper’s survey of possible contenders in the 2024 election, as California Gov. Gavin Newsom jumped two spots to No. 7 right behind Sanders, and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer debuted on the list at No. 8.

Biden wasn’t included in the rankings compiled in December 2021 because of speculation at the time that he would be a one-term president and because polls showed that Democratic-leaning voters narrowly preferred “someone not named Biden on the ballot in 2024.”

But the Washington Post began including Biden’s name to the list in its April rankings and in the most recent survey.

“The reason: There might come a time when the incumbent president isn’t the most likely nominee the next time around, for whatever reason. And his own 2024 maneuverings were suddenly very much worth evaluating in real time,” the newspaper said. (Read more from “These Are the Potential Democratic 2024 Presidential Hopefuls” HERE)
