Russian DM: “Today, the world begins to unite against the USA”

The media outlet for the Russian government, Pravda, reported this weekend that a Russian observer at the recent APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit in Vladivostok came away convinced that the world is moving away from a U.S. dominated world. He noted that “everyone still plays by American rules, but the countries already demonstrate their independence in economic policy.”

This Member of the Duma, Yevgeny Fyodorov (who also serves as the head of the Duma’s Committee on Economic Policy and Entrepreneurship), said that China’s recent snubbing of Hillary Clinton reflected the United States’ loss of power and prestige: “I was there and saw how angry Mrs. Hillary Clinton was when she came from China, where several Chinese leaders – especially those who are to become top officials of China next year – did not even want to meet her.” He cited China’s refusal to allow Clinton “to take on mediator’s functions in resolving China’s territorial disputes with Asian countries” as further evidence of the US’s precipitous decline.

Observing that the U.S. “consumes a half the world’s GDP, despite the fact that there is only 4.5 percent of the population living there,” and that Americans “eat ten times as much as compared to the citizens of all other countries,” he argues that this excessive consumption occurs “at the expense of China, Russia, India, Brazil – all other countries.”

The Pravda interview concludes with DM Fyodorov stating that, “Today, the world begins to unite against the colonizer – USA.” He believes that the APEC conference is the start of a “national liberation movement to free the world from the U.S. occupation.”

There’s little doubt that the anti-American sentiment that erupted across the Middle East about this same time last week contributed to the atmosphere at the 21-nation APEC summit. And we can thank Obama’s love-fest with the Muslim Brotherhood for that.

Video: After Obama Apologies, Bangladeshi Muslims Still Torch “Cofin of Obama”

Thousands of Bangladeshi Muslims, protesting the Innocence of Muslims video, marched in Dhaka with a coffin bearing the words “Cofin [sic] of Obama”. After stuffing it with an American flag, the protesters torched it. Keep in mind, that’s after Obama’s repeated apologies for the US pornographer’s anti-Muslim video.

If you look closely, this clip also has a bit of humor. At about 57 seconds into the video, an apparent Imam (in the background) kicks at some boys, almost loses his turban, and then one of his apparent victims seems to yell “Yeow!”

Department of Homeland Security Ammo Acquisition Grows to 1.4 Billion Rounds (+video)

According to American Thinker, the Department of Homeland Security’s ammunition acquisition has now soared to 1.4 billion rounds over the last six months.

Until now, Restoring Liberty has avoided posting articles regarding the various federal agencies’ ammunition procurements as earlier numbers seemed to be within the parameters of what could be expected for routine practice and training. However, at 1.4 billion, every employee of DHS (not just those with federal law enforcement authority) would have hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition each.

It’s also disturbing that hundreds of millions of these rounds are hollow-points, prohibited by the Geneva Convention.

Here’s how the American Thinker describes the volume of DHS’s ammunition purchase:

Let’s put these DHS numbers in perspective. An Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer displaces (weighs) 9,300 tons. 1.4 billion rounds weigh around 28,000 tons, three destroyers’ worth, so to speak. It takes over 1,200 18-wheel trucks to move that much ammunition. That’s the equivalent to a line of single trailer trucks, parked end to end, almost 14 miles long.

There are 314 million Americans, men, women and children living in the United States this morning. This year alone, DHS has purchased four rounds for each and every American. We don’t know how much more ammo the DHS may have accumulated during the preceding 36 months of the Obama Administration. This enormous DHS stockpile supplements the ammunition already held by the US Armed Forces, the National Guard, hundreds of local and state police departments, plus other Federal law enforcement agencies such as the ATF, Secret Service, FBI, TSA and the US Marshals Service.

Why did DHS purchase 28,000 tons of ammunition? Why did DHS purchase almost half a billion rounds of hollow point ammunition, banned by the Hague Convention of 1899 for use in international warfare, that is carefully designed to kill it intended targets? Americans have no good answers to these questions since the DHS is now refusing to respond to media inquires on the subject. Pull back the curtain of silence by asking your Congressmen and Senators these questions.

These huge inventories are extremely troubling from the standpoint of a free society. DHS and other Federal governmental agencies will be much less inclined to ever use this ammunition as long as Americans citizens stand firm in supporting our Second Amendment rights to bear arms. We must never forget that tyrants throughout modern history (Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin and Mao) always disarmed their opponents before rounding them up and sending them to the killing fields.

The Tea Party is Key to Lowering U.S. Gasoline Prices

We need immediate and instant resuscitation measures to re-start the heart of the economy.

The defibrillator is the abolishment of the ethanol mandate!

President Reagan abolished oil price controls with an executive order, so don’t tell me Obama could not abolish the ethanol mandate instantly tomorrow.

He won’t, so pressure must be put on Democrats with Tea Party public education of the public about the ethanol mandate problem to result in a ground root’s demand for its abolishment.

The GOP isn’t going to do it. It is not even aware of the problem. Romney could make abandonment of the ethanol mandate a persuasive part of his campaign, but he won’t since it is impossible for anyone to communicate with his campaign about it.

The Tea Party is the only hope 49 days before the election. The Tea Party can get it done if Romney is elected.

Please don’t put abolishment of the ethanol mandate in a list of things to do in the future!

The biggest problem in America is the economy. The biggest problem in the American economy is the oil policy. Foreign oil imports affect jobs, income, tax revenue, debt, gasoline prices, imbalance of payments, and our national security, not to mention wars in the Middle East. On the individual economic level, gasoline prices affect Americans the most.

Gasoline prices can and should be lowered in two ways, immediately and long range. Gasoline prices can be lowered immediately by simply abolishing the ethanol mandate which requires that ethanol be blended with gasoline at the pump. This would eliminate the millions of dollars in waivers which refineries are required to purchase because there is no cellulosic ethanol production, thereby decreasing the price of gasoline.

Besides immediately lowering the price per gallon of gasoline, abolishing the ethanol mandate would also allow Americans to be able to go much farther on a gallon of gasoline, thereby lowering the cost per mile traveled.

Americans would get an extra 125 billion miles of free travel annually due to the poor mileage from ethanol. In 2011, the US consumed 134 billion gallons of gasoline and 13.9 billion gallons of ethanol for a total of 147.9 billion gallons of fuel with an average blend of about 10% ethanol. The 13.9 billion gallons of ethanol had 1,056 trillion BTUs. The same amount of gasoline would have 1,727 trillion BTUs. The ethanol had 671 trillion BTUs less energy than gasoline. It takes an average of 5,354 BTUs of energy for a vehicle to travel one mile. Thus, Americans could travel free for an extra 125 billion miles annually if the mandate to blend ethanol with gasoline was abolished so that gasoline would replaced ethanol.

There is yet another benefit from abolishing the ethanol mandate. It would prevent 4.2 million tons of additional carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere annually since using ethanol emits more carbon dioxide into the air than using gasoline. There are 0.99 pounds of additional carbon dioxide emitted from each 1.635 gallons of ethanol. Thus, one gallon of ethanol emits an additional 0.60366 pounds of carbon dioxide. Ethanol production last year was 13,900 million gallons. There were 4.2 million tons of additional carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere last year due to the use of gasoline-blended-with-ethanol rather than the use of gasoline. Such unnecessary emissions of carbon dioxide into the air should be stopped.

It is impossible for ethanol to ever replace oil. Last year’s ethanol production of 331 million barrels was only 6% of the US oil demand of 5.3 billion barrels annually. Ethanol is a disastrous folly, and the ethanol mandate should be abolished immediately.

The long range lowering of gasoline prices can and should be done by replacing foreign oil imports with US oil production. Historically, the price of US oil has been lower than the price of foreign oil. During the week ending November 11, 2011, US crude oil was $6.47 per barrel less than foreign OPEC crude oil at the “World Crude Oil Prices” website of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. Foreign oil imports were 3.4 billion barrels annually. The estimated savings to Americans, if US oil replaced foreign oil imports would be over $21 billion. Unfortunately for transparency, the “World Crude Oil Prices” website went blank after that week in November 2011, a year before the presidential election.

Outrage: Alaska’s Human Rights Commission Drives Christian Store Owner Out-of-Business for Religious Discussions with Employees

Alaska’s Human Rights Commission (HRC), a government agency established to enforce the state’s human rights laws, recently heard a case involving Paul Kopf, the owner of Goldstream General Store in Fairbanks. A former employee, Lynn Dowler, alleged that she was forced to quit because she found the owner’s religious talk too offensive to handle. The HRC determined that Mr. Kopf had discriminated against his employee by speaking openly about his religious views and imposed a $75,000 fine against him.

When I first heard about this ruling several days ago, I was upset. So I sought out Mr. Kopf’s attorney in Fairbanks, Tom Wickwire. After talking to Mr. Wickwire yesterday, I became incensed.

Here’s what Mr. Wickwire told me really happened in the case:

Paul Kopf [also] hired employee Lynn Dowler’s daughter, knowing she was a lesbian. While the daughter worked for Kopf, she went through a very unhappy and stressful break-up of a relationship. It affected her job performance and absenteeism so much that Lynn Dowler recommended, or suggested that Kopf fire her daughter. He didn’t. Instead he kept her on, allowing her time to work through her emotional crisis. This showed compassion and sympathy for an employee with a lifestyle that many do not accept. Kopf also had several other employees who, I will say, lived on the fringes, if not outside of, mainstream society.

This “tolerance” made one of Ms. Dowler’s other allegations, that Mr. Kopf was vehemently intolerant of Catholics, even less believable. Mr. Wickwire continued:

While Dowler was in the hearing trying her best to convince the Admin law Judge that she had reached the point of not being able to take Kopf’s religious talk any longer, it became clear that she had never complained to Kopf that some of his talk was offensive, in fact had never told him she was Catholic. But in the hearing, [she] complained that Kopf was harshly critical of Catholics.

There is clearly established law in other areas that an employee who feels subjected to a hostile work environment has a duty to tell the boss what she finds offensive, so the boss knows and has a chance to stop before getting sued. I briefed this law to the Human Rights Commission and they apparently ignored it.

To make matters worse, after Ms. Dowler quit, she later submitted a list of grievances to Mr. Kopf. This list contained no complaint about religious talk. But the grievance list that was later submitted to the HRC was apparently altered to include a religious discrimination claim. Why? Mr. Wickwire stated that, “for Dowler to have a winnable case, she had to prove she quit because of religious discrimination.” He believes that she added the religious allegation “to the list when she learned, probably from talking to the Human Rights Commission after she quit , that this was the only way they would take her case on.”

Mr. Wickwire concludes:

It was disappointing that the Human Rights Commission did not realize that the First Amendment is what protects the right of a private business owner on his own property in speaking his mind. This right, and its limits, seems particularly important when our nation has embarked on a debate about Mormonism and what would it mean to have a Mormon President. We should not punish people for expressing their religious beliefs, including doubts or criticisms of other religions. The US Supreme Court has said in many First Amendment decisions that free, open vigorous debate of conflicting viewpoints is the surest and safest way to expose unworthy ideas and have the best ones gain acceptance. This case, and the HRC’s handling of it has set us back.

What was accomplished here?

Kopf is broke. His belief in America as a country that values differing religions and encourage lively religious debate is much shaken. If the HRC is right, it has taught Kopf that he can think what he wants but had better not talk about his faith.

An employer who had shown himself willing to hire people who were otherwise not likely to get decent paying jobs, is run out of business.

The Right of individuals to speak about their faith on their own property freely, without fear of persecution is now in question, at least in Alaska.

Video: Democrats Restore “God” to Platform With Sham Vote, Delegates “Boo” Decision

For anyone who thinks party convention shenanigans are reserved only for the GOP, the video below will change your mind.

After Democratic Party bosses realized that an earlier deletion of “God” from the Democratic platform was a catastrophe-in-the-making (from the electorate’s perspective), they pushed through a suspension of the rules from the floor to reinsert “God” into the platform.

Unfortunately for them, the change required a two-thirds vote. Watch the video below to see and hear how the will of the Democratic delegates (who obviously wanted to keep “God” out of their platform) was ignored:

Video: Obama, In His Own Words: “I’ll Be a One-Term President” & “$4 Trillion in Debt is Unpatriotic”

After suffering through three years of economic malaise and the most debt accumulated by any president in history, no one should vote for Obama. In fact, Obama himself said in 2008 that you should never vote for such a failure.

I suppose Americans have grown numb to DC politicians and their hypocrisy. Nevertheless, Romney should be hammering Obama on this, nonstop.

Rock Star Obama is Spinal Tap, not the Rolling Stones

It is now official. Democrats will move rock star Barrack Obama’s big presidential nomination acceptance speech indoors. Instead of performing before a crowd of 74,000 in an outdoor stadium, the show will now be put on in a much, much smaller indoor arena.

The “official” line, the cover story if you will, is that there are concerns about rain. But convention sources disclosed that the real reasons for the switch were fears that many of the seats in the 74,000-seater Bank of America stadium would be empty.

The Time Warner arena holds about 20,000 people. In rock star terms, reducing seating capacity from 74,000 to 20,000 is a significant downgrade. It sounds like the Rolling Stones being forced to move a concert from the Rose Bowl to the Staples Center due to lagging ticket sales.

It illustrates how the biggesst rock star of the “progressive” Democratic Party is less like the Rolling Stones and more like Spinal Tap.

In 2008, when Obamamania was at a fever pitch, filling 84,000-seater Invesco Field in Denver, Colorado was child’s play. But waning voter enthusiasm has led to an embarrassing reduction in drawing power. So far this year, Obama’s biggest crowd has been 14,000 in Columbus, Ohio. Last week at a rally in Boulder, Colorado, 13,000 were in attendance.

Gone are the swooning fans, fainting on cue. Missing are calls to bring his concert tour to major European cities. The days when Barrack Obama was the biggest rock star on the planet have come and gone. People are no longer throwing money in his direction. The days of performing “Tonight I’m Gonna Rock You Tonight” are over. Now he desperately sings “Gimme Some Money.”

America Needs the Tea Party More Than America Needs the GOP

Tea Party principles are America’s principles. To an intolerable degree, “Moderate Republicans” do not believe in or follow Tea Party principles. Quite often they appear to be completely devoid of principles. They game the political system to gain power and prestige for themselves and themselves alone. They will turn on Americans faster than you can say Specter.

Conservative Tea Party Americans like Allen West, Marco Rubio, Jim DeMint, Pat Toomy, Rand Paul, Ron Johnson, Michele Bachmann, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee have the guts to stand against the institutionalized “progressive” left. They have the willingness, backbone and fortitude to preserve individual liberties, restore the U.S. Constitution, and a return to constitutionally limited government, a balanced budget, equal opportunity and equal protection under the law for all Americans.

Today’s Democratic Party is not your father’s Democratic Party. They keep insisting that Tea Party Republicans and their affiliates are “extreme”. Since when are protecting individual liberties, following the U.S. Constitution, having constitutionally limited government and a balanced budget extreme?

The Tea Party’s positions are extreme only when seen as standing in the way of establishing an all-powerful, centrally planned big government controlled by a self-appointed oligarchy of self-imagined “intellectual elites” i.e. a Communist state.

The institutionalized “progressive” left in 2012 America is acting exactly like every other Communist power grab in history. They lie, cheat and steal to win elections. Then they will lie, cheat, steal and kill to consolidate and strengthen their grip on unrestrained power.

The institutionalized “progressive” left complains about how “extreme” Tea Party Republicans refuse to compromise. The Tea Party knows that Communists have no interest in compromising with anyone. The institutionalized “progressive” left’s negotiating position has been, is, and will continue to be: “What’s Yours is Negotiable, What’s Mine is Not.” Those who hold this negotiating position, when they do finally obtain an iron grip on unrestrained power, do not compromise with their political opposition. They eliminate them…permanently.

America is at an historic crossroads. The 2012 election will determine what life in America will be like for the next and following generations.

In the words of Ronald W. Reagan, 40th President of the United States of America:

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

Paul Ryan: The Right Man for the Right Time

Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, the newly nominated GOP candidate for Vice President of the United States, is the right man in the right place, at the right time.

He understands that his duty as Vice President will be the calling of his generation to preserve for his children and their children the America that was given to his generation.

He acknowledges that the current administration came into office during an economic crisis. He also realizes that today 23 million men and women are unemployed or underemployed. He sees one in six Americans living in poverty. He understands that millions of young college graduates cannot find work and have been forced to move back in with their parents.He sees that without a change in leadership in the White House the next four years will be just more of the same.

As a Congressman, he has been a front row witness to the wasteful Stimulus spending, the catastrophic government takeover of health care, and the robbing of seven hundred and sixteen billion dollars from Medicare to fill the financial void left in the healthcare law despite all the law’s hidden taxes.

Ryan vowed that “Medicare is a promise, and we will honor it. A Romney-Ryan administration will protect and strengthen Medicare, for my Mom’s generation, for my generation, and for my kids and yours.”

As Ryan stated midway through his nomination acceptance speech: “So our opponents can consider themselves on notice. In this election, on this issue, the usual posturing on the Left isn’t going to work. Mitt Romney and I know the difference between protecting a program, and raiding it. Ladies and gentlemen, our nation needs this debate. We want this debate. We will win this debate.”

Ryan pledged that he and Presidential nominee Mitt Romney “will get America creating wealth again. With tax fairness and regulatory reform, we’ll put government back on the side of the men and women who create jobs, and the men and women who need jobs.”
