Mandalay Bay shooter Stephen Paddock may have been a high-roller, but he lost a slip-and-fall lawsuit against a Nevada casino in 2014 — and still owed $270 in court fees when he killed at least 59 people Sunday.
Security video from the Cosmopolitan Hotel shows Paddock slipping and falling on Oct. 30, 2011, as he walked from a hotel shop towards a high-stakes area in the casino. Paddock said he had slipped in a puddle of liquid and sued the hotel in 2012, initially asking for $100,000, according to the attorney for the hotel, Marty Kravitz.
“They always ask for a lot more than they can get, but he got nothing,” said Kravitz. (Read more from “Casino Security Video Shows Vegas Shooter in 2011” HERE)
Three days after the Pittsburgh Steelers unintentionally entangled themselves in the ongoing national anthem controversy by remaining in the stadium tunnel during the anthem at a game in Chicago, center Maurkice Pouncey announced the team intends to “make it right” next time.
“I promise you one thing this week: We’ll all be standing out there for the national anthem,” he said after practice Wednesday. “Trust me. We respect our flag and we respect the military.”
Regarding what happened Sunday, he claimed it was just a “big misunderstanding.”
“Trust me, I’m very sorry to anyone who feels the way they do,” he said. “I care about the flag dearly. Trust me, this team will be out there standing Sunday.”
The team’s decision Sunday to remain in the tunnel came in response to an ongoing controversy surrounding statements made by President Donald Trump at a rally in Alabama last Friday.
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects the flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b—h off the field right now. Out. He’s fired. He’s fired!’” Trump had said, referencing protests by certain NFL players upset by what they perceive to be racial injustice in America’s criminal justice system.
This remark wound up triggering widespread backlash, with numerous players and team owners across the NFL mounting a joint effort to rebuke the president by joining the protests against the national anthem.
In a bid to avoid becoming involved in this controversy, all members of the Pittsburgh Steelers except one decided to skip taking part in the anthem ceremony Sunday. Only offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva, a former Army Ranger, appeared on the field.
Villanueva later apologized for taking a lone stand, expressing remorse for having thrown his teammates “under the bus.”
Likewise, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger released his own statement expressing regret over what happened.
“The idea was to be unified as a team when so much attention is paid to things dividing our country, but I wish we approached it differently,” he said. “We did not want to appear divided on the sideline with some standing and some kneeling or sitting.”
In his own statement Wednesday, Pouncey made it clear that when his team stands up for the national anthem at its next game, he expects “100 percent participation” from all players. (For more from the author of “Steelers Player Announces Plan for National Anthem at Next Game” please click HERE)

Rep. Steve Scalise returned to the House of Representatives Thursday for the first time since he was shot by a radical leftist.
After arriving to thunderous, sustained applause, Scalise gave a speech on the floor, thanking God and acknowledging the power of answered prayer in his recovery.
“The power of prayer is something that you just cannot underestimate,” Scalise said. “I am definitely a living example that miracles really do happen.”

Thanking the Capitol Hill police, his doctors at MedStar, and his well-wishers in Congress and from around the world, Scalise said his faith in God was strengthened by the experience and the outpouring of love he felt.
“While some people might focus on a tragic event and an evil act, to me, all I remember are the thousands of acts of kindness and love that came out of this, ” he said. (For more from the author of “Steve Scalise Credits ‘Power of Prayer’ for Return to Congress” please click HERE)

Fighting against racism does not mean failing to treat the American flag with respect, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees said Sunday.
After the New Orleans Saints defeated the Carolina Panthers, what happened on during the game took second place to the growing furor over protests that occurred during the playing of the national anthem.
On Friday, President Donald Trump criticized players who protest racism by failing to stand for the anthem, causing players, coaches and owners around the NFL to take a stand.
Brees said Trump came down too hard.
“I disagree with what the president said and how he said it,” Brees said. “I think it’s very unbecoming of the office of the President of the United States to talk like that, to the great people like that, and, obviously, he’s disappointing a lot of people.”
Brees said that there are two problems on the table — one is that not all Americans have an equal chance at success, and the other how NFL players are responding to that issue.
“Let me say this first – do I think that there’s inequality in this country? Yes, I do. Do I think that there’s racism? Yes, I do. I think there’s inequality for women in the workplace; I think there’s inequality for people of color, for minorities, for immigrants,” he said.
How NFL players respond to that issue determines whether he is with them or not.
“If the protest becomes we’re going to sit down or kneel or not show respect to the flag of the United States of America and everything it symbolizes and everything it stands for, everything our country has stood for to get to this point, I do not agree with that,” he said.
Brees said the anthem should bring Americans together, not divide them.
“Looking at the flag with your hand over your heart is a unifying thing that should bring us all together and say, ‘You know what, we know what things are not where they should be, but we will continue to work and strive to make things better and bring equality to all people,’” Brees said.
Brees also said the anthem is a time for respect.
“I will always believe that we should be standing and showing respect to our flag with our hand over our heart. I will never say it’s OK to not show respect to the flag of the United States of America during the national anthem,” he said.
Brees, whose grandfather served in World War II, said the flag is a symbol all Americans should hold dear.
“That is the symbol of showing respect to our country. I won’t. I don’t think that that’s OK because of all who have fought so hard and died and sacrificed so much for us to have the things we have, to have the freedoms that we have. The very freedom of the speech that we are talking about was born from that flag,” he said.
Although 10 New Orleans Saints did not stand for the anthem, contradicting what Brees believes is right, he did not expect the issue would divide him team.
“I’m not sure exactly what happened pregame because I was locked in, but I’ll talk to all my guys and we’ll be fine,” he said. (For more from the author of “Saints Quarterback: Respecting the Flag More Important Than Making a Point” please click HERE)

The state legislature in the People’s Republic of California has passed a resolution that demands Trump “publicly apologize to all Americans for his racist and bigoted behavior.”
Yes, these are the kinds of constructive bills California lawmakers are coming up with to fix their insolvent state. (Next on the agenda is making it impossible to deport illegals who commit felonies!)
The alleged basis for Trump’s “racist and bigoted behavior” was when he condemned “in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides” in the wake of the Charlottesville clashes.
If that made you scratch your head, it’s because it makes no sense; most rational people don’t equate condemning “hatred, bigotry, and violence” with “racist and bigoted behavior.”
But the green commies in California don’t seem to get that, for some reason. Maybe it’s time for them to lay off the pot.
In a FREE White House Brief, I explain all the terrific things Trump is doing to improve the country and shouldn’t apologize for. Watch:

President Donald Trump declared at his Alabama rally on Friday night that he would love to see an NFL owner fire anyone who disrespects the U.S. flag and national anthem, declaring, “get that son of a bitch off the field!”
“Luther [Strange] and I, and everyone in this arena tonight, are unified by the same great American values,” Trump said at the rally. “We’re proud of our country. We respect our flag.”
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, he’s fired!” Trump exclaimed. “He’s fired!”

Christians who grew up thinking about a candle’s light when singing “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine” have entirely the wrong idea about what it truly means to be a Christian light shining in the world, said the Benham brothers in a recent talk.
The identical twin brothers, speaking at the LifeSiteNews 20th anniversary Gala recently in Herndon, Virginia, said that most think of a candle’s flame when singing the lines from the song about not letting Satan “blow it out.”
But Christian faith, they said, is not meant to be extinguished when faced by the winds of opposition, but to become more inflamed. That’s why the image of a candle in the song needs to be replaced by the image of a coal, they said.
“You see, the same wind that extinguishes the candle’s light ignites the coal’s light,” said Jason . . .
Jason quoted from the prophet Jeremiah (20:9) who called the word of God in his heart a blazing “fire” that could not be contained inside himself. (Read more from “Benham Bros Reveal Secret to Ending Abortion and Gay ‘Marriage’ in America” HERE)

In case you hadn’t already heard about it, the government can take your stuff without a warrant, a criminal charge, or a hearing. And thanks to a program restarted by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, it got a lot easier to do so over the summer.
The process is called civil asset forfeiture, and it leads to situations where people who haven’t even been charged with a crime lose their possessions. Sometimes they have to fight uphill for years to get them back.
However, the House of Representatives has recently made a move to protect your Fourth Amendment rights with an amendment in a recently passed spending bill, which now heads to the Senate. In a segment of Off the Hill, we bring you stories of real people who have had their lives upended by the practice and tell you how Congress could clamp down hard on it.

This is … this is just … there’s nothing I can write that will prepare you for what will undoubtedly be the worst campaign advertisement you’ve ever seen.
Meet Dan Helmer. He’s a Democrat running for Congress in Virginia’s 10th district against Republican Rep. Barbara Comstock. He just released this new campaign ad, and I made it 14 seconds before I had to turn it off.
Can you do better?
My editor said I had to watch the whole thing if I wanted to write about it, so, let’s discuss.
Everything is wrong with this vid. The cheesy “Top Gun” rip-off in the beginning. The “Veteran” t-shirt that lets you know, “Hey, this guy is a veteran!” Because, apparently, there was no subtler way to tell people that.
And then there’s the atmosphere. This guy pulls up on a motorcycle to a driving, crunchy guitar riff and walks into a bar. What a badass.
Then Mr. Badass Democrat breaks into off-key sing-song. “Cringe-worthy” is an understatement.
Everything you need to know about this ad can be summed up by the first YouTube comment from Ipayne5001: “Yo bro there’s still time to remove this before anyone sees it.”
It’s too late, Ipayne5001. We’ve seen it, and we can’t go back. (For more from the author of “Democrat Releases WORST Campaign Ad You Will EVER See” please click HERE)

Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was overheard Thursday discussing President Donald Trump with some of his aides.
“He likes us. He likes me, anyway,” Schumer was heard saying on the Senate floor by a nearby CSPAN microphone.
The CSPAN video containing the comments only showed the front of the Senate floor, making it unclear who Schumer was speaking to at the time.
Schumer’s comments were in response to a dinner he had with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Wednesday night at the White House with Trump.
“Here’s what I told him: ‘Mr. President, you are much better off sometimes stepping right and sometimes step left. You have to step just in one direction, you’re boxed,’” Schumer said.
Schumer’s remarks were in reference to Trump holding meetings recently with congressional leaders to find a bipartisan solution to the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
“He gets that. We are always going to work it out, and it will make us more productive too,” Schumer said.
Several conflicting reports have been issued since Trump met with Pelosi and Schumer Wednesday night to discuss immigration reform.
In a joint statement Wednesday night following their meeting, Pelosi and Schumer said Trump had agreed to support legislation keeping DACA in place without receiving guaranteed funding for the border wall in exchange.
Reports suggested that they had reached an agreement to pass DACA legislatively and only enhance border security measures without a border wall along the southern border between the U.S. and Mexico.
Prior to leaving for Florida Thursday to examine the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, Trump told reporters that he may accept increased border security measures rather than immediate funding for the wall.
“The wall will come later,” Trump said.
“We’re right now renovating large sections of wall, massive sections, making it brand new,” Trump said. “We’re doing a lot of renovations, we’re building four different samples of the wall to see which one we’re going to choose, and the wall is going to be built, it will be funded a little bit later.”
Trump sent out a series of tweets Thursday morning saying that no deal had been agreed to during the meeting.
No deal was made last night on DACA. Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. Would be subject to vote.
“Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military?” he tweeted.
He continued: “They have been in our country for many years through no fault of their own – brought in by parents at young age. Plus BIG border security.” (For more from the author of “Chuck Schumer Caught on Hot-Mic Making Comment About Trump” please click HERE)
