President Trump Should Speak at Berkeley

If you are not chilled to the bone by the riots that college administrators and campus police allowed to erupt at the University of California at Berkeley on February 1, in response to the campus appearance of a single, mildly provocative conservative speaker, Milo Yiannopoulos, it is your civic duty to watch the videos below.

The power-addicted left has reacted to losing a single presidential election like a big, angry junkie thrashing and clawing for a fix. This national tantrum points up for all Americans just what a cyanide-soaked, exploding plutonium-anthrax bullet we dodged in Hillary Clinton. (NOTE: Raw footage and rough language.)

Progressive elites had soaked in the high-handed, lawless arrogance of Barack Obama, who swept in like a messiah and ruled like an absolute monarch — flouting Congress, falsifying the plain meaning of laws, and abusing executive authority with Nixonian abandon. The same elites had assumed that they would get to finish stuffing the U.S. Supreme Court with leftist judicial activists, and crown it once and for all as a permanent, sitting Constitutional convention. No conservative or Christian voters anywhere in America would really have any voice left after that.

The Left Has Abandoned Persuasion

And that’s the whole point: We’re not supposed to. Our views are illegitimate and evil, and don’t deserve the protection of law from violence and intimidation. It is up to the conscience of any given leftist to decide whether or not the views of a fellow citizen deserve to be tolerated. If they deem you too “offensive,” it’s fine to use force in shutting them down:

Government force, like California trying to yank routine federal funding to close or de-Christianize schools that followed the Bible on sexual ethics;

Corporate force, like Marquette University and Providence College acting to remove or harass conservative professors for expressing their views, or DePaul University banning conservative speakers;

Mob violence, which the “Antifa” thugs used at Berkeley to silence Milo;

Individual assault, like a punch in the face or a spray of pepper gas aimed at someone whose views are simply “offensive.”

That’s the left’s mode of operating these days: Not just defeating opponents, but stigmatizing, silencing and finally destroying its “enemies.” From Christian bakers and florists to highly accomplished executives like Brendan Eich of Mozilla and TV hosts like the Gaines family; from the Little Sisters of the Poor to wealthy philanthropist Betsy DeVos; no one is too small to escape being targeted, too innocent or eminent to avoid getting battered and smeared.

I’ll Defend to the Death Your Right to Say It

Now some of the views to which leftists object really might be offensive or wrong. We have no sympathy with a white separatist like Richard Spencer — except insofar as he is an American citizen speaking lawfully and civilly about political issues as our Constitution absolutely guarantees him the right to do — without getting sucker-punched by some passing coward.

If leftists decide that his views, or Milo’s campy provocations, or Christina Hoff Sommers’ thoughtful criticisms of feminism, are so dangerous and contemptible that they may use violence to silence them … let’s pause to ask: On that principle, what should pro-lifers do to abortionists?

We know that these people are directly killing Americans by the millions. To avoid civil war, we agree to proceed against these mass murderers within the law. Would the Left like us to abandon that policy? Have they forgotten which side in America’s culture wars joins the army, staffs the police, and treasures its right to keep and bear arms?

The fact that we have to even raise such an appalling prospect points up how hazardous the Left’s lawless use of force has become. Drunk on the self-righteousness of political views that they have never heard challenged — thanks to the tyrants or cowards who run their universities — young leftists are speaking and acting like Spanish anarchists in the early 1930s, whose mob violence and rejection of a democratic election sparked the Spanish Civil War. They might pause to reflect how that war turned out. (There’s a bumper sticker in that: “Act like a Spanish anarchist — expect an American Franco.”)

Time to Reinforce Fort Sumter

We cannot let things in America keep spiraling downward in that direction. We must insist on the perfect legitimacy of the outcome of our elections, and the absolute enforcement of Constitutional rights. Thugs cannot be allowed to shout down speakers at universities, or burn the streets of our cities. School administrators may not enable violent mobs that silence civic speech. State governors and city mayors may not rebel against federal immigration law and collude in flouting it.

Each of these actions is a direct attack on the sovereignty of our government, and hence on every voter and citizen — just as surely as the “massive resistance” employed by Southern segregationists was in the 50s and 60s. It took the force of the federal government to defend the Constitutional rights of black Americans then. Those same rights demand a similar use of force today.

President Trump is right to threaten the cutoff of federal funds to universities that let hecklers veto or mobs attack American citizens lawfully practicing free speech. But he should go further. He should announce a presidential address, as soon as possible, at the University of California-Berkeley. He should inform the governor of California that the National Guard must cooperate with the Secret Service in guaranteeing order, and the right of the President to speak and citizens to listen.

Whatever use of legitimate force it takes to repress mob violence at Berkeley during that speech, the mob cannot prevail. President Trump should make it clear that anywhere in America where free speech is violently attacked as it was in Berkeley, he will make it his business to visit and insist that our Constitution is still in force.

He must act quickly and firmly, as Ronald Reagan did against campus terrorists back in the 1960s. Expect Americans of good will to unify behind him — and the enemies of freedom to learn their limits. It is the job of the president at times like these to say, as President Lincoln once had to say to a previous generation of thuggish Democrats afraid of losing power: “Thus far, and no further.” (For more from the author of “President Trump Should Speak at Berkeley” please click HERE)

Ryan: Presidents Often Prioritize Refugee Claims–Obama ‘Put a Preference in for Sexual Orientation’

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Thursday that there’s nothing wrong with President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration including a preference for religious minorities facing persecution, because it’s a common practice for presidents to include preferences in refugee populations and that former President Barack Obama did the same thing for sexual orientation.

“Presidents always and often put preferences in refugee populations,” Ryan said. “I think President Obama had one for sexual orientation. They didn’t call that a sexual orientation test. He put a preference in for sexual orientation.

“Religious minorities who are being persecuted, there’s nothing wrong with preferring religious minorities from persecution. Yazidis are being persecuted. Sunnis in Shia countries are being persecuted. Christians are being persecuted, so there’s nothing wrong with saying we’re going to take into account minority religious persecution with our refugee situation,” he said.

Trump’s executive orders states: “The Secretary of State shall submit to the President an initial report on the progress of the directive in subsection (b) of this section regarding prioritization of claims made by individuals on the basis of religious-based persecution within 100 days of the date of this order and shall submit a second report within 200 days of the date of this order.”

In 2015, then President Obama issued a presidential memorandum titled Presidential Memorandum — International Initiatives to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Persons. President Trump: America ‘Must Never, Ever’ Stop Asking God for Wisdom

At Thursday morning’s National Prayer Breakfast, President Trump said the whole world has a duty to stop the “genocide” of Christians in the Middle East.

He blasted the terrorism that religious minorities face in some parts of the world, said we “must never, ever” stop asking God for wisdom, and declared that America will flourish “when religious liberty can flourish.”

“Freedom of religion is a sacred right,” President Trump said. He promised his administration “will do everything in its power to defend and protect religious liberty in our land” and around the world.

He outlined the severity of threats to religious freedom around the world: “We have seen peace-loving Muslims brutalized, victimized, murdered, and oppressed by ISIS killers. We have seen threats of extermination against the Jewish people. We have seen a campaign of ISIS and genocide against Christians, where they cut off heads. Not since the Middle Ages have we seen that. We haven’t seen that – the cutting off of heads. Now they cut off the heads, they drown people in steel cages…Nobody’s seen this for many, many years.”

“All nations have a moral obligation to speak out against such violence,” he said. “All nations have a duty to work to confront it and to confront it viciously if we have to. So I want to express clearly today to the American people that my administration will do everything in its power to defend and protect religious liberty in our land. America must forever remain a tolerant society where all faiths are respected and where all of our citizens can feel safe and secure. We have to feel safe and secure.” (Read more from “President Trump: America ‘Must Never, Ever’ Stop Asking God for Wisdom” HERE)

Oops! Nancy Pelosi Accidentally Makes the Case for Trump’s Immigration Executive Order

On Tuesday night, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. (F-10%) accidentally made a strong case for President Donald Trump’s executive order instructing the Department of Homeland Security to keep tabs on crime committed by illegal immigrants.

Laura Wilkerson, a Texas mothe whose son was “tortured,” “tied up like and animal,” and killed by an illegal alien, grilled Pelosi on her unabashed support of sanctuary cities:

“I am not a one-story mother. This happens every day because there are no laws enforcing the border,” Wilkerson said, as reported by the Washington Examiner. “How do you reconcile in your head about allowing people to disavow the law?”

Wilkerson continued:

“The second part of my question is this: if you need to go home tonight and line up your babies as you say, and your grandbabies, which one of them could you look in their eyes today, and tell them that they’re expendable for another foreign person to have a nicer life? Which one would you look to say, you, my child, are expendable for someone else to come over here and not follow the law.”

Pelosi, clearly bewildered by the mother’s impassioned testimony, offered a weak response, thanking Wilkerson for “channeling [her] energy to help prevent something like that from happening.” She then claimed that “our people [i.e. illegals] are not disobeying the law” in sanctuary cities.

“These are, law-abiding citizens, it enables them to, to be there without being reported to ICE [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] in case of another crime that they might bear witness to,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi then went on to explain why Trump’s executive order makes so much sense:

“The point is – is that you do not turn law enforcement officers into immigration officers. That is really what the point is in the sanctuary city. So, it is not a question of getting sanctuary. Someone who … is guilty of a crime. They should be deported. Or sent to jail for what they do if you can catch them in time.”

Here’s the irony: Trump’s executive order doesn’t turn local law enforcement into immigration agents. It merely seeks to call attention to illegals who commit crimes that harm U.S. citizens. Like Pelosi claimed during the town hall, Trump believes that these individuals shouldn’t be allowed to remain in the country. And it’s safe to conclude that Wilkerson also agrees with this.

Thanks, Nancy Pelosi, for being one of the only Democrats in Congress to (albeit unknowingly) come out strongly against senseless sanctuary city provisions that harm citizens and protect criminals. Videos Reveal That Often, Ultrasounds at Planned Parenthood Are Only for Abortions

Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards likes to claim that the major abortion provider is also a leader in women’s health and prenatal care services. New videos released by Live Action News tell a different story, The Federalist reported Tuesday.

The videos are a part of an investigation by Live Action News called Planned Parenthood: The Abortion Corporation, and specifically focus on the use of ultrasound machines in Planned Parenthood facilities.

Not for Prenatal Care

One video shows women calling or visiting 68 (out of approximately 650) Planned Parenthood facilities nationwide to ask about ultrasound services. In all but three instances, the Planned Parenthood representatives said they only use ultrasound machines for abortions.

“We don’t do any ultrasounds for prenatal — for prenatal care,” a representative from the Planned Parenthood facility in Council Bluffs, Iowa, said. “We do them when we’re doing abortions but not for any other reason.”

“That’s [abortion] the only service that we do,” a representative in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, said. “We don’t do any prenatal care or adoption here.”

Two former Planned Parenthood managers confirmed what the undercover recordings exposed.

One, Sue Thayer, told Live Action News President and pro-life activist Lila Rose that ultrasound machines were originally brought into the facility where she worked for the purpose of performing “webcam abortions.”

“If Planned Parenthood is really about choice, they would show women the ultrasound,” Thayer said. “And they don’t.” Monitors on the ultrasound machines are turned away from the mothers, and pictures of the unborn babies are never printed, she said.

Planned Parenthood is currently fighting GOP lawmakers to continue receiving taxpayer funding. As part of the effort to defund the abortion giant, protests and rallies will take place Saturday, February 11 at Planned Parenthood locations nationwide. Hey, CNN, Your Pathetic Contempt for Pro-Lifers Is Showing!

For the past 44 years, pro-life activists have come to Washington, D.C., in the dead of winter to speak for the millions of unborn children who have been the victims of abortion in America. And every year the mainstream media’s pro-abortion liberal bias is on full display for all to see.

Enter CNN’s Carol Costello. Costello is the host of CNN Newsroom, and today she covered the March for Life. But take a look at how the march was characterized:

“Anti-abortion.” For years, members of the pro-life movement have stressed the concept that this is a positive movement. A life-affirming movement. It is not singularly directed in opposition to a medical procedure, abortion, but rather is a movement to defend human life in the womb. A movement to protect the right to life possessed by unborn children.

Viewers noticed:

And that is an important point. For when Costello’s program went live to CNN’s Brianna Keilar, reporting from the National Mall, the comparisons drawn between the March for Life and last week’s liberal Women’s March should raise eyebrows for conservatives.

Keilar listed the litany of issues left-wing activists at the Women’s March last week supposedly protested for, including “immigrants rights, Muslim rights … women’s rights.” She used the term “abortion rights” as well.

But did you notice what was absent? Any discussion at all of the rights of unborn children. The activists at the March for Life are not there to simply oppose abortion. They are their to defend the natural right to life endowed by our Creator possessed by every human being. And make no mistake, an unborn child in the womb is a human being. Fighting for unborn rights is fighting for human rights.

The pro-life, pro-unborn rights participants are labeled with negative language and that leads one to wonder why. But this final exchange from Costello’s program might provide viewers with some insight.

Costello brought on Deana Wallace, staff counsel at Americans United for Life, to discuss what pro-life activists are looking for in President Trump’s pick for a Supreme Court justice. Listen at the end of this clip:

Costello laughed at the notion that a justice who wants to uphold the Constitution should defend unborn children and their right to life.

She laughed! At the thought that unborn children should have the right to life.

The liberal media, ladies and gentlemen. (For more from the author of “Hey, CNN, Your Pathetic Contempt for Pro-Lifers Is Showing!” please click HERE)

Boy Scouts Open Membership to Transgender ‘Boys’

The Boy Scouts of America says it will begin accepting members based on their gender identity, opening the door for transgender boys to join.

Under the new policy, which takes effect immediately, membership in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts will be based on the gender indicated on an application.

Previously, the organization relied on an individual’s birth certificate to determine eligibility for its single-gender programs.

“However, that approach is no longer sufficient as communities and state laws are interpreting gender identity differently, and these laws vary widely from state to state,” BSA spokeswoman Effie Delimarkos said in a statement Monday.

The change brings the Boy Scouts in line with other youth organizations, including the Girl Scouts, that have created transgender-friendly membership policies in recent years. (Read more from “Boy Scouts Open Membership to Transgender Boys” HERE)

Muslim Prayer Erupts During Protest at DFW Airport

By Associated Press. Demonstrators have gathered at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to protest President Donald Trump’s travel ban barring citizens of seven predominantly Muslim nations from entry into the U.S.

An estimated 200 people held signs and chanted “Let them go!” as they awaited word Sunday on what state representatives for the Council on American-Islamic Relations say are nine people detained at the airport.

Chaos as Pro-Muslim Refugee Protests Erupt at LAX

By Brenda Gazzar and Cynthia Washicko. Throngs of passionate protesters marched, waved signs and staged a sit-in Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport, demanding President Donald Trump lift his executive order affecting refugees as well as certain nationals from seven Muslim-majority countries.

Chanting “Say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here” and “Let them in,” the protesters gathered first at the Tom Bradley International Terminal but then marched around the lower Central Terminal Area, forcing rolling closures of some lanes of traffic.

Flight operations were unaffected and no arrests were made, airport officials said. However, traffic was gridlocked at times trying to get into and out of the airport.

Among the thousands of protesters at the airport was Matthew Pagoaga, 32, of Highland Park, who held a sign adorned with an image of the “Star Wars” character Yoda that read “Fear leads to Anger, Anger leads to Hate, Hate leads to Suffering.”

“There’s never been anything so atrocious in our political system, discriminating against whole groups of people based on religion,” he said. “We can’t protect ourselves by hating other people.” (Read more from “Chaos as Pro-Muslim Refugee Protests Erupt at LAX” HERE)

Meet the Feminists at the March for Life

If you ask Aimee Murphy, executive director of Life Matters Journal, pro-life feminists have been around for awhile. Only recently, however, are people starting to pay attention to them. At the 2017 annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., The Daily Signal caught up with Murphy to find out what it means in her eyes to be pro-life and a feminist.

The Showdown over Sanctuary Cities

In the 1940s, Jan Ting’s parents faced a difficult path to American citizenship following a U.S. immigration ban on Chinese workers that lasted 61 years.

Today, Ting is a law professor at Temple University—after serving as a top immigration official under President George H.W. Bush. Ting is also a strong opponent of sanctuary cities that shield illegal immigrants from deportation. That includes Philadelphia, where Temple University is located.

“I think that it is wrong, I think it endangers public safety, I think it endangers our law enforcement officers, and it’s just short-sighted,” he says.

This week on “Full Measure,” we examine the debate over sanctuary cities, which face a loss of federal funding following President Donald Trump’s directive Wednesday. Watch the story to learn more about what’s at stake. (For more from the author of “The Showdown over Sanctuary Cities” please click HERE)
