A dramatic development in the saga surrounding rancher Cliven Bundy, the FBI has entered the case.

The 8 News NOW I-Team has learned that FBI agents have started an investigation into the events surrounding a potentially deadly showdown one month ago.

It is one thing for Cliven Bundy and his supporters to square off against an assortment of Bureau of Land Management employees. It is quite another when the FBI enters the picture, and that is exactly what has happened.

The I-Team has confirmed that FBI agents have launched a formal investigation into alleged death threats, intimidation and possible weapons violations that culminated with a dangerous showdown on April 12, and the first people to be interviewed by FBI agents are Metro Police, starting with Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillispie.

Federal employees suspended their roundup of Cliven Bundy’s cattle, following a confrontation outside the BLM compound near Bunkerville. At the urging of Metro Police, Bundy’s cattle were released, but BLM’s new director announced the matter wasn’t over and would be resolved, one way or another. We now know what that means.

WATCH: Dad Arrested While Protesting Sexually Graphic Book Assigned to 14-Year-Old Daughter

The father of a Gilford High School student was arrested at a school board meeting on Monday night after objecting that the school had assigned his 14-year-old daughter to read a pornographic book without his knowledge or consent.

William Baer, an attorney who moved to New Hampshire from New Jersey, registered his complaint about the book Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult, which includes a graphic depiction of sex between two teenagers at the local school board meeting.

He asked the school board to read the offending passage, but members refused.

He also wanted to ask members why the school’s ninth grade English teacher had the class read the material without sending out notice – a policy the school had followed in previous years – but board members turned away questions. Instead, they said the question violated protocol and told Baer that his two minute time allotment had expired.

Another parent, Joe Wernig, said he supported the reading of the 2007 book, warning that if the school board bends, ”these people will be dictating what we can and cannot read.”

On FOX NEWS Charles Krauthammer commented on the just-released and massive 840-page report on climate change from the Obama Administration, which forecasted dire consequences as a result of “increasingly disruptive” changes in the weather.

In the context of various proposals to counter these changes, such as increases in renewable energy, reductions in carbon emissions, and increased vehicle fuel standards, Krauthammer was extremely critical.
Two of the most salient comments:

“We don’t control the carbon emissions of the other 96% of humanity, especially China and India.”

“All we are doing is committing economic suicide in the name of do-goodism that will not do an iota of good.”

Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) on Thursday, speaking of the special House committee that will investigate the terrorist attack in Benghazi, said he did not think Americans were “going to lose sleep” over it.

“I think it’s tragic that the Republican Party would destroy itself in 2016 by not having one issue that the American people believe should be a priority,” Rangel told Fox News’s Neil Cavuto.

“I don’t think people, Americans, Democratic or Republicans, are going to lose sleep over Benghazi. And I really think that they’re concerned about the economy and jobs and immigration. What I’m talking about is, is that if the Democrats are the only ones standing on their feet in 2016, America has lost.”

Miami Police Shooting Revealed: 377 Shots Fired By 23 Cops At 2 Men In Car (+video)

POLICE_CAR5373On December 10, more than two dozen police officers from across Miami Dade County converged on a blue Volvo that had crashed in the backyard of a townhouse on 65th Street just off 27th Avenue.

As the car was wedged helplessly between a light pole and a tree, nearly a minute passed before officers opened up – firing approximately 50 bullets at the car and the two unarmed men inside the vehicle.

The two men inside the car survived that initial volley of gunfire, according to witnesses, who said they could see the men moving inside the Volvo. Everything went quiet for nearly two minutes before the officers opened up a second time – unleashing an unrelenting torrent of bullets that lasted almost 25 seconds. By the time it was over, the two men inside the car were dead.

CBS4 News has learned a total of 23 officers fired a total of at least 377 rounds.

Bullets were sprayed everywhere. They hit the Volvo, other cars in the lot, fence posts and neighboring businesses. They blasted holes in a townhouse where a 12-year-old dove to the ground for cover and a four month old slept in his crib.

Obama Court Nominee Wrote Memos Justifying Drone Strikes On U.S. Citizens (+video)

Harvard Law School scholar David Barron is an Obama administration nominee for a federal appeals court. He is also the author of government memos that make legal justifications for killing U.S. citizens overseas with drone strikes, which is why his selection to the U.S. First Circuit Court of Appeals has been delayed.

The White House has agreed to allow lawmakers to review at least one of the drone memos after U.S. senators and the the American Civil Liberties Union expressed concerns, technology website Ars Technica reported Wednesday.

Some Democrats, including SenateJudiciary Committee chairman Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont, say it isn’t Mr. Barron’s memos, but political theater, that is tying up his selection.

“Senate Republicans have consistently blocked most of President Obama’s judicial nominees so it comes as no surprise that they continue to do so with this nominee. David Barron is a brilliant lawyer who is committed to public service,” said Sen. Leahy, Ars Technica reported.

American Marine Chained In Mexican Jail Is Unshackled But Remains Behind Bars (+video)

In a small victory for a decorated U.S. Marine held on gun charges in a Mexican prison, authorities in the country have removed the four chains binding him to his cot amid growing pressure from American lawmakers, the Marine’s mother said.

Jill Tahmooressi’s son, Andrew, has been held inside La Mesa Prison in Tijuana since April 1, when he was arrested after unintentionally going into Mexico from California’s San Ysidro border crossing while carrying three, registered firearms. After an escape attempt and having his wounds treated at Tijuana General Hospital following a self-inflicted stabbing, he was placed in the jail infirmary with his arms and legs restrained.

Tahmooressi called his mother Friday to let her know that the shackles had been removed, but phoned her again on Monday to inform her that Mexican prison officials had once again restrained him by clamping a chain on one of his legs.

“Honestly, that’s a lot better than having all four of his limbs chained up,” an emotional Jill Tahmooressi told Fox News Latino. “He can at least stand up and exercise to get his muscle strength back.”

An active U.S. Marine reservist who served two combat tours in Afghanistan, including a 2010 stint in the violent Marjah district, Tahmooressi was moving to San Diego area with a Marine friend to be close to his treatment center for his post-traumatic stress disorder when he made a wrong turn into Mexico and ended up under arrest.

Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) is in the political fight for her life and this interview does nothing to help her.

The Congresswoman who infamously signed Obamacare into law in exchange for the “Louisiania Purchase” of $300 million in federal Medicaid funds currently trails Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy by two points.

The money shot of her interview:

“Getting rid of me and a few other people would not be good for the country and its future, in my view.”

Sen. Introduces Bill To Test Out Taxing Motorists For Every Mile They Drive

The California Legislature is looking at a voluntary program that would tax motorists for every mile they drive.

KCAL9’s Bobby Kaple reports that Sen. Mark DeSaulnier, D-Concord, introduced a bill to test out the vehicle miles traveled (VMT) tax because the state’s gas tax was no longer bringing in the revenue it used to due to people driving more fuel efficient vehicles.

The program is modeled after ones in Oregon and Washington.

“We want to do as Washington and Oregon have done in a much bigger state with much longer commutes…to make sure that we find out whether it would work, whether the public would like it or not,” DeSaulnier said.

It’s unknown how much the tax would be, but Oregon currently charges its volunteers 1.5 cents per mile.
