Fed-Up Navy Veteran Forewarned Conn. Lawmakers on Gun Registration: ‘I’m Telling You Right Now, I Will Not Comply’

Photo Credit: YouTubeNow that tens of thousands of gun owners in Connecticut are in direct violation of a hastily-passed gun control law, a video of a fed-up Navy veteran warning lawmakers that he “will not comply” with the law is just going viral. As previously reported by TheBlaze, as many as 100,000 gun owners technically became felons overnight because they chose not to register their semi-automatic rifles and/or high-capacity magazines.

A man, identified as John S. Cinque, reportedly appeared at a public meeting in North Haven, Conn., on April 22, 2013, to confront lawmakers over the gun control law.

Cinque started by asking if the bill would have done anything to prevent the tragic Sandy Hook shooting. Eventually, Connecticut State Rep. David Yaccarino (R) replied, “maybe not.”

Cinque went on to ask what the state plans to do with residents who “will not comply with this law.”

“That’s up to you, that’s your right,” Yaccarino said. “As far as Sandy Hook, we don’t know if it would’ve or wouldn’t have, but we also have an obligation to do our best to protect public safety.”

Russian President Putin got approval to send troops to Ukraine, and the Russian military has seized Crimea without firing a single shot.

Rogers said that for Putin, Crimea has the greatest military, strategic and economic impact. He said that Russia’s upper chamber has a proposal that would allow Crimea to become part of the Russian Federation if Crimea wanted to.

Russia has made many bold moves recently, including moving its borders out about 11 kilometers in Georgia and helping Syrian President Bashar Assad remain in power during U.N. negotiations.

Video: Joe Miller Delivers Rousing Call to Action at Western Conservative Conference

Joe Miller spoke at this year’s Western Conservative Conference in Phoenix. Introduced as the kind of candidate the Washington Establishment and RINO’s love to hate, Miller gave a fiery address to the large gathering of conservative activists.

Joe Miller spoke at the Western Conservative Conference in Phoenix on February 22, 2014. Introduced as the kind of candidate the Washington Establishment and RINO’s love to hate, Miller gave a fiery address to the large gathering of conservative activists.

Miller’s central message was that we all have to be engaged to take this country back and to bring it forward in the way it was designed by our Founders to be brought forward.

He warned that the fight will not be easy. Drawing from his own first-hand experience as a U.S. senate candidate in 2010, Miller noted, “When those in power saw that here was somebody that wasn’t going to be bought. They knew this was somebody who wanted to see the American dream preserved for his children and grandchildren. Those are the type of people that DC fears. Those are the type of people they will do everything to fight against.”

Miller elicited his strongest crowd reaction, when he exhorted, “Call President Obama what he is and take him to account. Here is a lawless leader that doesn’t care about the rule of law. Where are our leaders in the House of Representative filing articles of impeachment? This man needs to go!”

Miller concluded his remarks with his firm conviction that “We have enough people to change the political climate of this country. We can show leadership, and we can bring America back to what the Founders intended.”

Republicans Strike Back at Harry Reid for Calling ObamaCare Victims Liars (+video)

Photo Credit: Human Events In response to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s bizarre declaration that all ObamaCare horror stories are false, and all the people lodging complaints are liars, the National Republican Senatorial Committee put together a devastating video that hits Reid with the weapon every ObamaCare-defending Democrat fears most: the truth. Short, simple, and damn near nuclear:

The media loves to give Reid a pass for these nasty little smear jobs, but this time he’s run afoul of the very same personalization Democrats are normally good at exploiting for their advantage. There are too many ObamaCare horror stories, too many ordinary Americans with names and faces; the magnitude of deception and failure built into this bill is too large to be ignored. If there was any winning play for the Democrats in 2014, slandering all of these people as liars was not it. They won’t be intimidated into silence, either.

The fate of the nation really shouldn’t be decided by individual anecdotes; gigantic programs which effect millions of lives should not be judged in a contest between a dozen people who really like them, and a dozen people who hate them. But such individual anecdotes have enormous currency in politics today, and no one has spent that currency more freely than the Obama Democrats, who have reduced the use of human props at press conferences to near-parody. They wouldn’t do that if they didn’t think it was working, so of course they’re uncomfortable when the same tactic is turned back against them.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry: The Tone From This President Is Troubling (+video)

I don’t mind telling you I was a bit troubled today by the tone of the president.

When you have governors – and we all compete against each other. We are the laboratories of innovation and for the President the United States to look Democrat and Republican governors in the eye and to say “I do not trust you to make decisions in your state about issues of education, about transportation infrastructure…”

That is really troubling, particularly when you’re seeing states be what has really performed over the course of the last 4 to 5 years he has been the President of the United States.

This discussion on energy policy. The president on one hand wants to take credit for more energy being discovered in the United States but, it’s his policies… it’s the EPA that is being pushed to close the door on extended energy policy in this country that could secure America for decades going forward.

That’s being put in jeopardy by this administration so you’re hearing very at cross-purpose messages from this president.

Michelle Obama: America’s Moms Are ‘Confused and Bewildered,’ ‘Defeated’ by Grocery Shopping (+video)

Photo Credit; AP Photo/Carolyn KasterApparently it’s not the price of the groceries, but the nutrition labels on food packages that make grocery shopping such a difficult and trying experience for the moms of America.

In pitching new, improved nutrition labels at the White House on Thursday, first lady Michelle Obama tried to identify with women who do the grocery shopping for their families. Her message was aimed at mothers who want to buy healthy food and depend on labels to help them do that:

“So there you stood, alone in some aisle in a store, the clock ticking away at the precious little time remaining to complete your weekly grocery shopping, and all you could do was scratch your head, confused and bewildered, and wonder, is there too much sugar in this product? Is 50 percent of the daily allowance of riboflavin a good thing or a bad thing? And how on Earth could this teeny little package contain five whole servings?

Hidden Camera Footage Surfaces of Supreme Court Debate

Hidden camera footage of what appeared to be Supreme Court proceedings from earlier this week surfaced on Thursday, offering one the of the first public recordings of the High Court’s proceedings.

A video posted on YouTube and recorded by 99 Rise, a group that supports tougher campaign finance laws, shows proceedings leading up to and during a rare protest that took place in the court Wednesday.

Noah Kai Newkirk, a leader of the group, is seen in the video standing up and calling on the court to overturn the 2010 Citizens United ruling that opened the door to corporate political donations and led to the creation of super-PACs.

“I rise on behalf of the vast majority of American people who believe that money is not speech, corporations are not people, and our democracy should not be for sale to the highest bidder,” Newkirk shouts during Wednesday’s oral arguments.

The beginning of the video appears to show the oral arguments from 2013 dealing with an undecided campaign finance case known as McCutcheon vs. Federal Election Commission, which asks whether the cap on the total amount of money a person can donate to candidates and party committees during an election cycle is constitutional.

Cruz Refuses to Endorse Cornyn in GOP primary (+video)

By Associated Press

WASHINGTON  — The sniping between establishment Republicans and tea partiers resumed Thursday as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz refused to endorse his state’s senior senator in next week’s Republican primary.

Sen. John Cornyn, the Senate’s second-ranking Republican leader, faces tea party-backed Rep. Steve Stockman in Tuesday’s election. Cruz declined to tell reporters how he plans to vote.

“I am not supporting any of the senators from my party or their opponents” in this year’s primaries, Cruz said, adding that he might change his mind later.

Cruz, a tea party favorite and potential 2016 presidential candidate, has infuriated fellow Republicans by forcing uncomfortable votes on issues such as the debt, and by raising money for conservative groups trying to defeat veteran Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

Cruz’s comments are especially notable because he is a vice chairman of the GOP committee tasked with winning Senate elections. He criticized the committee’s track record and policy of virtually always backing incumbents.

Ted Cruz To Tea Party Gathering: We’ll ‘Turn This Country Around

By Elizabeth Titus.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz told tea party activists on Thursday that he is “filled with the promise that we’re going to turn this country around” after legislative fights over drones, guns and Obamacare last year.

The freshman Republican received a hero’s welcome at a Tea Party Patriots-hosted fifth anniversary event for the movement in Washington, where he discussed the three issues.

“If you listen to the media, if you listen to Democrats — although I repeat myself — they will say the fight to stop Obamacare did not succeed,” said Cruz, who pushed to defund the president’s signature health care law in a fight that led to a government shutdown last fall.

“Really?” Cruz said. “Well, I’m a big believer the proof is in the pudding. Last fall, millions of Americans rose up and said, ‘Stop the disaster that is Obamacare.’ … We elevated the national debate of the incredible harms Obamacare is visiting on millions of Americans.”

Republicans’ poll numbers suffered after the shutdown, but the health care law is still poised to be one of the central issues in this year’s midterm elections. Republicans must net six seats to take back control of the Senate.

Photo Credit: REUTERS/Jonathan ErnstRepublican Cruz puts Clinton odds of White House win at 40 percent

By Thomas Ferraro.

Republican U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, a Tea Party favorite seen as a potential 2016 presidential contender, on Thursday put Democrat Hillary Clinton’s chances of winning the White House at 40 percent.

“The media thinks she is unstoppable, but they also thought she was unstoppable in the 2008 Democratic primary,” which Barack Obama won en route to the White House, Cruz said of the former secretary of state and wife of two-term U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Cruz said Clinton would be vulnerable in a general election for a number of reasons, including what he called Obama’s failed economy and the traditional shift in voter preference.

“There is a natural pendulum in politics,” Cruz said, with the public often ready to turn to the other party after one party has held the White House for eight years.

Obama is in his second, four-year term.
