Restoring Liberty’s Viral “Witty Otter” Video: The Rest of the Story and New Footage

The “Alaska Killer Whales vs. Witty Otter” video that Restoring Liberty broke two weeks ago has now gone viral, getting almost 1,000,000 views at the time of this writing. When we posted the video – put together by my son Jacob – we included a short but incomplete narrative of what happened.

Many major news outlets have picked up the story including Yahoo.com, The Blaze, the Daily Mail, and other sites. We’ve received a number of inquiries seeking more details on what happened with the otter, her baby and the killer whales in Tutka Bay last month. Interview requests are pouring in from Anderson Cooper, the Today Show, Fox affiliates, and other stations.

Here’s the original video:

So, this evening, I called my friend, Dusty Harpole, the Alaskan who filmed the sea otter/killer whale encounter, and he filled me in on the “rest of the story.”

Dusty told me that he and his friend were out black bear hunting in early October. They had borrowed a boat from Charlie Largent (another good friend and a major 2010 US Senate campaign volunteer) for the trip and were cruising from Jakolof Bay into Tutka Bay, Alaska. Although Dusty is an accomplished Alaskan hunter, having taken a number of trophy bears – including a ten foot plus brown bear just this past spring – he and his friend hadn’t had much excitement on this outing. In fact, they had only sighted one bear the entire trip. But as they entered Tutka Bay, things got exciting real fast.

First, they saw a bunch of killer whales – also known as orcas – splashing around the entrance of the bay. As Dusty maneuvered his boat further into the bay, the killer whales actually began to approach the boat. Dusty slowed and then stopped the boat, and the orcas continued to play nearby. Each time that Dusty attempted to leave, the orcas would follow the boat.

So, enjoying the playful killer whales, Dusty eventually just let the boat drift. After thirty minutes or so, the boat, with the orcas still alongside, drifted into the mother otter that is the subject of the viral video.

The mother otter was floating on her back with her baby on her stomach about twenty-five yards from the boat. The killer whales began to circle the mother and her baby. They did this for some time. The mother otter, with the baby clinging to her stomach, would place her head under water to watch the orcas.

Video: One Day Before Election, Biden Forgets Obama’s Name

By Toby Harnden. Vice President Joe Biden, who has previously misremembered what state and what century he was in, now seems to have forgotten that Barack Obama is the president.

Speaking to a crowd of 1,200 people at a high school in Lakewood, Ohio, Biden was slamming a ‘pernicious’ Mitt Romney ad claiming that Jeep will move jobs out of Ohio to China.

The vice-president said that the ad claimed that ‘President Clinton bankrupted Chrysler so that Italians could buy it to ship jobs overseas to China.’

Bill Clinton was the 42nd president of the U.S. and left office in January 2001. Barack Obama became the 44th president in January 2009 and for the past nearly four years Biden has served as his vice-president.

In Biden’s defense, there was perhaps a Freudian element to the slip. Clinton, who previously enjoyed testy relations with Obama, has been mobilised by the current president to be his most prominent campaigner and the two men made joint appearances in Virginia on Saturday and New Hampshire on Sunday. Video: Romney’s “Vote for Revenge” or “Vote for Love of Country” Ad

At a campaign stop, President Obama encouraged his supporters – who were booing Romney – to vote on Tuesday out of revenge.

This off-teleprompter comment has spun out a new offensive from Romney, including this “Revenge or Love of Country” ad:

Sean Hannity and Sarah Palin discuss Obama’s revenge comment, as well as predictions as to who will win on Tuesday.

Hannity also shows an RNC ad that highlights Obama’s failed record and discusses this with Sarah, too:

Video: Official Obama Ad – “President is a Man of Deep Christian Faith”

By Fox News. A new video released by the Obama campaign claims the president has been leading the nation with faith values. Several religious minsters and scholars said Obama is a “man of deep Christian faith.”

The video fails to mention that the Democratic Party booed God at their national convention in Charlotte — and at one point voted to remove the Almighty from the party platform. God was eventually reinserted into the platform in a controversial vote with strong opposition and jeers coming from the audience.

Obama’s video, which was posted Saturday morning, implies that Obamacare and his automobile industry bailout are moral policies based on religion. Read more from this story HERE.

Video: You Can’t Vote for Obama After Seeing This

This is one of the exceptional videos of this election season, with hundreds of thousands of views over the last week.

The first half of the clip very effectively uses Obama’s own 2008 campaign rhetoric against him, something that would have been very effective in the debates.

It then describes the nations’s debt crisis, providing definition to the enormous numbers burdening our nation.

Finally, it gives a brief history on conservatism and conservative ideals.

It’s a catchy, fast-paced, and otherwise well done video. If you don’t have time for the whole clip, you should watch at least the first half.

Video: Bristol Palin Wins Legal Victory Over Bar Heckler

By Jennifer Madison. Bristol Palin has won her legal fight with a man accused of heckling her on her reality show Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp.

The 22-year-old was named in a lawsuit filed by Stephen Hanks, who was seen in an episode shouting obscenities about her mother, former U.S. Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, during an altercation with Bristol at a Hollywood bar.

Hanks claimed he never signed a waiver to appear on the show and that Bristol invaded his privacy by outing him as a gay man in filings naming the reality star and A&E network.

Bristol’s docu-series premiered in June of this year and followed her as she moved to Los Angeles with her three-year-old son, Tripp, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Levi Johnston.

In episode of the Lifetime network series shows a verbal argument erupting after Bristol is heckled while she rides a mechanical bull at the Saddle Ranch on Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip. Read more from this story HERE.

Here’s the full video of the heckling incident [caution: this is unedited; the heckler who sued Palin uses repeated profanities]:

Video: Is Bill Clinton Dissing Obama Again?

Just last week Bill Clinton told a crowd that Obama “didn’t fix” the economy as he promised. And just a few days ago, it was reported that Bill Clinton was pushing Hillary to release damning Benghazi documents that would ensure Obama’s defeat.

Now, at a campaign event on Friday, Clinton hit Obama again, but not in an overt way.

Clinton first noted that he hears “all these people say, ‘Oh I was so enthusiastic four years ago. I had so much hope for change, and I’m so disappointed, this, that and the other thing.'”

Apparently because of Obama’s widespread lack of support, Clinton concluded that he “may be the only person in America, but I am far more enthusiastic about President Obama this time than I was four years ago”:

More Claims of Machines Switching Votes in Ohio, Other Battleground States (+video)

Imagine going to vote for your presidential candidate and pushing the button on a touch-screen voting machine — but the “X” marks his opponent instead.

That is what some voters in Nevada, North Carolina, Texas and Ohio have reported.

Fox News has received several complaints from voters who say they voted on touch-screen voting machines — only when they tried to select Mitt Romney, the machine indicated they had chosen President Obama. The voters in question realized the error and were able to cast ballots for their actual choice.

“I don’t know if it happened to anybody else or not, but this is the first time in all the years that we voted that this has ever happened to me,” said Marion, Ohio, voter Joan Stevens.

Stevens said that when she voted, it took her three tries before the machine accepted her choice to vote for Romney. Read more from this story HERE.

Video: ‘Obama is telling kids, f–k your parents’

photo credit: jglsongsA newly compiled video exposes the chief “anti-bullying” activist endorsed by the Obama administration spewing an obscenity-laced, startling message to “gay” kids in America.

The White House website, under its “Civil Rights” section, includes links and videos recorded by Barack Obama, Joe Biden and others, supporting the mission of “gay” activist Dan Savage’s It Gets Better Project, an effort to help homosexual teens survive bullying during their teenage years.

But a recent video produced by the Faith Family Freedom Fund reveals Savage has touted the White House’s support as proof the president is backing his shocking message:

“That meant,” Savage says of Obama’s participation in his It Gets Better Project, “the president of the United States was telling queer kids, ‘There’s something wrong with your parents, there’s something wrong with your preachers, there’s something wrong with your teachers, and f— those people!’”

The video reveals Savage further blasting those who believe in Jesus as “spiritually abused,” wishing Republicans would die and referring to politically conservative Christians as “pieces of s—.” Read more from this story HERE.

Video: Classified Cable Warned Consulate Couldn’t Withstand ‘Coordinated Attack’

The U.S. Mission in Benghazi convened an “emergency meeting” less than a month before the assault that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, because Al Qaeda had training camps in Benghazi and the consulate could not defend against a “coordinated attack,” according to a classified cable reviewed by Fox News.

Summarizing an Aug. 15 emergency meeting convened by the U.S. Mission in Benghazi, the Aug. 16 cable marked “SECRET” said that the State Department’s senior security officer, also known as the RSO, did not believe the consulate could be protected.

“RSO (Regional Security Officer) expressed concerns with the ability to defend Post in the event of a coordinated attack due to limited manpower, security measures, weapons capabilities, host nation support, and the overall size of the compound,” the cable said.

According to a review of the cable addressed to the Office of the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Emergency Action Committee was also briefed “on the location of approximately ten Islamist militias and AQ training camps within Benghazi … these groups ran the spectrum from Islamist militias, such as the QRF Brigade and Ansar al-Sharia, to ‘Takfirist thugs.’” Each U.S. mission has a so-called Emergency Action Committee that is responsible for security measures and emergency planning.

The details in the cable seemed to foreshadow the deadly Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. compound, which was a coordinated, commando-style assault using direct and indirect fire. Al Qaeda in North Africa and Ansar al-Sharia, both mentioned in the cable, have since been implicated in the consulate attack.
