By The Federalist. Not every war is unnecessary or avoidable, but history might well judge the Russo-Ukrainian war as both, not least because the United States and its European allies could have prevented it, but didn’t.

The decision to go to war was Russia’s, and Russia bears ultimate responsibility for what happens now. But that does not absolve the West of its strategic incompetence and complacency, and it does not mean the United States and its allies are guiltless in all of this.

At multiple points leading up to the current crisis, there were ways for the United States and Europe to create off-ramps for both Moscow and Kyiv, to shepherd a negotiated settlement so that both sides got a minimum of what they needed, and some of what they wanted.

What might that have looked like? For Moscow, a recognition of its strategic claim on Crimea and the port of Sevastopol as the home of its Black Sea Fleet. For Kyiv, the promise of political independence and greater integration with Europe in exchange for territorial concessions.

The West should have also considered the folly and recklessness of floating the idea of NATO membership for Ukraine, something no serious person ever thought Russia would accept without going to war to prevent it. And yet as far back as 2008, the United States openly discussed the possibility of Ukraine’s membership in NATO, even as Kyiv still claimed sovereignty over Russia’s most important naval base in Sevastopol. Biden’s Approval Sinks Further as Russia-Ukraine Crisis Heightens

By The Federalist. New polling indicates that only 39 percent of Americans approve of President Joe Biden’s job as president as the Russia-Ukraine crisis heightens.

According to a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll, 56 percent of Americans think Biden’s first year in office was a failure. Among those unimpressed with the president’s track record of rising gas prices, a botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, and a growing crisis on the Southern border, are 66 percent of independents who will likely take their frustrations out at the polls in the upcoming 2022 midterms. Even 15 percent of Democrats admit that Biden’s tenure in the White House thus far has been a failure.

While nearly 40 percent of Americans think inflation should be Biden’s top priority, only 36 percent of them still support how the president is handling the country’s financial circumstances which are plagued with record-high inflation. Senate-Confirmed Biden Nominee Isn’t Even Eligible for Job

Any decision made by President Joe Biden’s Senate-confirmed nominee to lead the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service could be null and void because she doesn’t meet key requirements to hold the post, multiple conservationists and legal experts told the Washington Examiner.

Two conservationists told the Washington Examiner they warned the 20 members of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works in late 2021 that the nominee, Martha Williams, lacks a “scientific education” in a relevant field, a requirement Congress codified into law during the Nixon administration. Despite the warnings, the committee voted 16-4 in January to advance Williams’s nomination to lead the Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Senate confirmed her nomination by voice vote on Thursday.

“No individual may be appointed as the Director unless he is, by reason of scientific education and experience, knowledgeable in the principles of fisheries and wildlife management,” the law reads. Experts say the word “and,” as opposed to “or,” is crucial and mandates a nominee have knowledge derived from both experience and education.

Williams, who earned a law degree from the University of Montana in 1994 after graduating from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, “flatly violates” the statutory requirement to lead the agency she was just confirmed to lead, said Robert Aland, a retired attorney-turned-grizzly bear activist.

Let’s cover our bases here. If this is a comedy bit, it’s a good one. I hope that’s the case because if not, it’s yet another thing to add to the list showing how public education has totally failed. Just teach the kids, liberals. What’s so hard about that simple and universally accepted concept. Instead, we have academic frauds peddling projects like 1619 or critical race theory that distorts American history so much you might as well erase it because it’s all wrong. It’s painfully wrong.

I don’t know what this walkout was about—it looks like it was over some stupid liberal nonsense, but one Tik Tok captured a supposed student giving credit to the late Martin Luther King for abolishing slavery. I’m not kidding. Libs of Tik Tok again comes in with a grand slam:

‘Scientific Fraud’: Top Doctors Go Nuclear on CDC for Hiding Data

Urging CDC scientists to speak out, Dr. Robert Malone and Dr. Ryan Cole reacted Monday to the news reported by the New York Times that agency officials admit they have withheld COVID data broken down by age, race and vaccination status because the American people might misinterpret it.

“This meets the criteria of scientific fraud,” said Malone, the key inventor of the mRNA technology platform used in the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. “Withholding data is scientific fraud.”

Cole, a Mayo Clinic-trained pathologist who runs a major diagnostic lab in Idaho, said that as “an ethical physician who took oaths to the human race, this is incredibly disturbing.”

“These are the people that are entrusted to tell us the truth,” he said of the CDC officials.

The two outspoken medical scientists were featured at four sold-out events Sunday and Monday near Seattle hosted by a non-profit called One Washington that is helping equip parents, lawmakers and activists to counter moves by the state Board of Health to add the COVID-19 vaccine to the required shots for public school children. 2-Year-Old Biden Tweet Comes Back To Bite Him

A two-year-old tweet from then-presidential nominee Joe Biden claiming Russian President Vladimir Putin was scared of him has come back to bite him two years to the date as Russia invades parts of Ukraine.

Biden tweeted on Feb. 21, 2020 that Putin “doesn’t want me to be President.”

“He doesn’t want me to be our nominee. If you’re wondering why — it’s because I’m the only person in this field who’s ever gone toe-to-toe with him.”

Hilarious: Pro-Masking School Board Member Storms Out After Parents Unearth Her Maskless Photo (VIDEO)

A school board member in Montgomery County, Virginia, stormed out of a meeting Tuesday night after a parent showed pictures of her maskless in a crowded room, according to a video of the encounter.

Video shows Montgomery County Public Schools’ Board Chairwoman Susan Kass attempting to talk over a parent who showed other school board members photos that allegedly showed Kass maskless in a crowd. The photos came from Kass’ Facebook page, according to the parent, WDBJ7 reported.

“If you are going to sit there and disparage a member of our school board, you can sit down,” Kass said to the speaker, according to WDBJ7.

Fellow board member Jamie Bond encouraged Kass to listen, arguing that the parent “should be able to say her piece.” Bond said that people criticized other board members in the past as well, the outlet reported. Police Move In to Crush Freedom Convoy; Mass Arrests Of Innocent Protesters (VIDEO)

By Breitbart. Demonstrators supporting the Freedom Convoy locked arms to block law enforcement’s advancement towards Parliament Hill on Friday.

The protesters sang Canada’s national anthem while standing in front of the police. Some shouted, “Hold the line,” “freedom,” and “peace and love.” Many wore and held Canadian flags.

Law enforcement included mounted officers on horses and an armored vehicle. Many police officers were observed wearing ear protection to guard against loud noises on several livestreams from reporters on the ground.

Breitbart News learned that police are denying motorists entry to the downtown core of Ottawa via checkpoints on many roads as of Friday. Police officers manning these checkpoints are stopping all motorists and asking their intentions for travel and if they are residents of the area. All drivers expressing an intent to join the Freedom Convoy demonstration are denied further travel in the direction of the protest.

Police officers at checkpoints advised motorists that traffic may eventually be exclusively restricted to local residents. Motorists may be asked to display drivers’ licenses to prove local residency.

Police Arrest Dozens of “Freedom Convoy” Protesters in Ottawa, Canada

By CBS News. Police in Canada say they have arrested at least 70 people and made progress in clearing out truckers who have paralyzed Ottawa for three weeks in a protest against the country’s COVID-19 restrictions.

The crackdown on the self-styled Freedom Convoy began in the morning, when hundreds of police, some in riot gear and some carrying automatic weapons, descended into the protest zone and began leading demonstrators away in handcuffs as holdout truckers blared their horns in protest. Police smashed through the door of at least one RV camper before hauling it away.

Interim Ottawa Police Chief Steve Bell said Friday afternoon that police are continuing to try to take control the streets and will work around the clock until that happens.

Bell said there has been one minor injury to an officer, and no protesters have been hurt.

Skier Suffers Frozen Penis in Olympics Mass Start Race

The men’s 50km mass start race at the Beijing Games was shortened to 30km but that did little to help Finland’s Remi Lindholm, who needed a heat pack at the end of the race to thaw out a particularly sensitive body part.

Lindholm spent just under an hour and 16 minutes traversing the course in howling, freezing winds, leading to his penis becoming frozen for the second time in a cross-country skiing race following a similar incident in Ruka, Finland last year.

The New York Times Makes a Stunning Admission About CDC Data on Vaccines

The New York Times made an eye-popping admission on Sunday regarding data collected by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on Covid-19 vaccines.

In an article titled, “The C.D.C. Isn’t Publishing Large Portions of the Covid Data It Collects,” reporter Apoorva Mandavilli writes: “For more than a year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has collected data on hospitalizations for Covid-19 in the United States and broken it down by age, race and vaccination status. But it has not made most of the information public.”

Mandavilli, who covers science and global health for the Times, reported that the agency has published “only a tiny fraction of the data it has collected” since the pandemic began, including data on booster efficacy for 18 – 49 year-olds, a tremendous chunk of the U.S. population.

Reasons listed include bureaucracy, sample size, and not being “ready for prime time,” but one that’s definitely set to raise lots of eyebrows is the claim that the data could be “misinterpreted” by Covid vaccine skeptics.

Here’s Why the Government Says It ‘Hides’ COVID Information

After its data indicated vaccinated people were more vulnerable to COVID-19 infection than the unvaccinated, Scotland’s national health system announced it would stop publishing its weekly chart of COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths by vaccine status.

Public Health Scotland said the data has been “inappropriately misinterpreted” by “anti-vaxxers” without adequate context, the Herald newspaper of Scotland reported.

PHS said it will concentrate instead on “more robust and complex vaccine effectiveness data.”

An epidemiologist who was an adviser to the Trump administration, Dr. Paul Alexander, cited the Scottish data in testimony during a panel last month hosted by Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis. Alexander said the data “demonstrates conclusively that the vaccine is driving massive infections in the vaccinated.”

The Canadian health researcher cited a table published by PHS showing that by the week beginning Jan. 22, the age-standardized COVID case rate per 100,000 in Scotland was 381.5 among the unvaccinated compared to 570 in the double-vaccinated and 447 per 100,000 in the boosted.
