6 Things We Know About Mail-Bomb Suspect Cesar Sayoc

Cesar Altieri Sayoc, the man suspected of being behind the recent slew of mail-bomb packages, has been arrested by federal authorities in Florida. Here’s what we know about the man suspected of mailing the suspicious packages to prominent Democrat political figures:

1. He has an extensive criminal record
Sayoc has been arrested countless times over the course of the past couple decades, for multiple felonies.

The most prominent mark on his record is a post-9/11 bomb threat:

2. A major Trump supporter
The Florida resident is an enthusiastic supporter of President Trump, often writing confusing screeds on social media showing his commitment to the president.

3. History of racist social media screeds
Sayoc has a long history of racist rants on social media that refer to former President Obama and others as a misspelling of the N-word.

4. Fingerprint and DNA traced to secure his arrest
In a press conference Friday afternoon, FBI Director Chris Wray explained that authorities used fingerprint and DNA samples to find Sayoc.

5. Sayoc is charged with 5 crimes
As of now, the suspect is charged with interstate transportation of an explosive, illegal mailing of explosives, threats against former presidents and other persons, threatening interstate commerce, and assaulting current and former federal officers. He faces up to 58 years in federal prison.

In the news conference, Attorney General Jeff Sessions added that Sayoc could face additional charges.

6. “These are not hoax devices”
Director Wray said, “Though we’re still analyzing the devices in our laboratory, these are not hoax devices.” None of the devices detonated.

Hoax? Former Navy EOD Officer Explains Why ‘Bombs’ Addressed to Democrats Almost Certainly Meant to Be Intercepted

Former Navy explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) officer Tom Sauer authored a viral Twitter thread concerning the potentially explosive packages addressed to prominent Democrats on Wednesday. According to Sauer, it’s extremely likely that the packages were meant to be intercepted and cause political damage, as opposed to actual attempts to harm targets.

Sauer, whose identity has been verified to The Daily Wire, used his expertise to analyze an image of a package addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan, which was first obtained by CNN. The former bomb disposal officer, who emphasized that he only spoke on behalf of himself, told The Daily Wire that the makeup of the device appears to indicate that it was intended to be intercepted. “It’s highly, highly unlikely that this was a genuine attempt,” he explained. “This is like holding up a bank with a toy gun.”

When asked by The Daily Wire about the parody ISIS flag sticker reportedly identified on the package, Sauer said this seems to be yet another signal that the package was meant to be intercepted to “scare the hell out of people” and not actually cause damage. “That’s going to get flagged right away,” he said.

“It reeks of amateur hour,” said Sauer, with regard to new reports on “shards of glass” and “Sulphur” being identified within the device. “Glass is fairly light,” he explained. Typically you’d find metal or rocks as the device would be heavier and thus more damaging, though glass “is no picnic.”

What Are the Odds Republicans Keep the House, Senate? Here Are the Latest Numbers.

By Daily Wire. So what are the odds that Republicans maintain control of the House and the Senate? According to the most recent polling analysis by Nate Silver, the odds shake out to look almost exactly the same, but flipped.

The Senate is looking increasingly likely to remain in the control of the Republicans, who currently have 50 “safe” Senate seats and narrow leads in three of the six “tossup” races, according to Real Clear Politics’ average of the key polls. According to Silver’s FiveThirtyEight, Republicans have a 5 in 6 chance (82.4%) of maintaining control of the Senate, giving the Democrats just a 1 in 6 chance (17.6%) of taking over.

Silver projects Republicans to end up with 52 seats and Democrats with 48, a net gain of one seat for Republicans and one seat more than is needed for the 51-seat majority. Silver currently gives Republicans an 80% chance of gaining up to four seats or losing up to two, and just a 10% chance that they gain more than four or lose more than two.

With their Senate hopes slipping away, Democrats are increasingly looking to the House as their best chance at wresting at least one chamber of Congress out of the hands of the GOP. And, unlike with the Senate, the Democrats’ odds of doing so are looking pretty good. In fact, they’re looking almost exactly as good as the Republicans’ chances of keeping the Senate.

Real Clear Politics’ poll averages currently show Democrats with 205 seats that are “safely” blue, including 14 that are “likely” to go their way and 18 that “lean” Democrat. (Read more from “What Are the Odds Republicans Keep the House, Senate? Here Are the Latest Numbers.” HERE)

Rick Scott Battles the Pollsters in Florida Senate Race

By Politico. Florida governors expect a boost in public opinion surveys after managing a natural disaster, but so far Rick Scott has received no appreciable bump after Hurricane Michael. In three consecutive Senate polls released after the governor earned wall-to-wall media coverage for managing the storm, Scott trails Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson.

Scott’s team isn’t buying it. His campaign excoriated Quinnipiac University’s survey Monday showing Nelson with a large lead of 6 points, and argued instead that the governor is in fact leading by 5 points.

The poll-truthing, however, revealed a deeper concern that’s long gnawed at some Republicans — including GOP donors from Scott’s well-heeled hometown of Naples: Scott should be doing far better given his cash advantage over Nelson.

“A lot of these people are essentially neighbors of Gov. Scott,” said Trey Radel, a former Republican congressman from Naples who’s a political consultant and radio show host. “And the fear they have — and that they keep expressing — is that Gov. Scott, like his first election, has loads of money that he has pumped in and that these donors have given, and yet Rick maintained only a small lead even before these polls came out with Nelson [ahead]. And they believe he should be burying Bill Nelson in the polls.” (Read more from “Rick Scott Battles the Pollsters in Florida Senate Race” HERE)

Trump Is Right, Mainstream Media Is Wrong on Terrorist Threat From Migrant Caravan

What could go wrong with a raucous group of predominantly males from the most violent Latin American countries headed for our southern border? Well, drugs, gangs, crime, and a fiscal drain on our economic resources are a few reasons to fear this invasion. But there is also an extra national security concern that Middle Easterners, who are already traveling independently to our border, are mixed in with this caravan. It’s a general concern that we should take very seriously both with the caravan and the broader waves of illegal immigration.

Yesterday, Trump tweeted that “criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in” with the caravan. Clearly, Trump has been getting briefings on this issue and is paying attention.

During the waning months of the Obama administration, none other than former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson sent out a memo to law enforcement agencies with the subject line, “Cross-Border Movement of Special Interest Aliens.” According to DHS’ official definition, Special Interest Aliens (SIAs) are individuals from 35 countries that “have shown a tendency to promote, produce, or protect terrorist organizations,” aka countries from the Middle East or those in Africa and Asia with a presence of terrorist networks. The Johnson memo called for the creation of a “multi-DHS Component SIA Joint Action Group” designed to “counter the threats posed by the smuggling of SIAs” and “the increased global movement of SIAs” in order to eventually “bring down organizations involved in the smuggling of SIAs into and within the United States.” As Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies observed, the memo was “unusual in the sense that they demanded the ‘immediate attention’ of the nation’s most senior immigration and border security leaders to counter such an obscure terrorism threat.” Bensman is a former intelligence officer for Texas Department of Public Safety.

Of course, this plan never came to fruition, but the fact that someone as liberal as Jeh Johnson found a need to warn about “the increased global involvement of SIAs” should be very concerning to all of us.

Reporters who don’t bother to study issues in the long term and merely react to the mindless soap opera of the day are acting shocked at Trump’s concern about the Middle East migrants coming through the border. CNN’s Jake Tapper wants Trump to provide him with proof of such a phenomenon. To anyone who has studied Latin America, this is a long-standing concern that is always present, irrespective of whether we have a smoking gun in every particular caravan. It certainly ranks among the top reasons to deter these incursions. There is a trail of both governments and Arab diaspora communities in numerous South and Central American countries that are facilitating this smuggling network.

Here’s the current reality:

Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales publicly said last week that he deported 100 Middle Easterners in his country, some with suspected ties to terror. Guatemala has become a hub for international migration of all sorts, including from the Middle East and south Asia, because that is the transit point from all directions into America.

In the Laredo, Texas, border sector, a record 668 Bangladeshi nationals were caught in fiscal year 2018. Over 3,000 SIAs were apprehended in total. One can imagine how many we didn’t apprehend. Also, 9,000 Indian nationals were apprehended this year. While India is not an official SIA country, it has a massive Muslim population of 172 million with a lot of terror groups operating on the ground, particularly in the north. Men make the majority of migrants apprehended in all border sectors, but this percentage has been exceptionally high in Laredo, where 88 percent of those apprehended in FY 2017 were men. That should be a bright red flag.

Venezuela is the single biggest country of concern when it comes to SIAs mixing with Latin American migrants. Remember, not all migrants who gather in the northern triangle of Central America originated there. There are hundreds of thousands of migrants pouring out of Venezuela, as it completely crumbles into a failed state. Not only is Venezuela Hezbollah’s main base of operations in South America, with direct ties to the country’s vice president, who is of Syrian descent, but there are hundreds of thousands of Lebanese and Syrian expatriates living there. Some 37,000 Venezuelans cross into Colombia every day, and there are signs that some of the two million refugees have already headed north. This could become our Syria.

Perhaps reporters like Tapper ought to speak with people who are actually involved in Latin American affairs. Joseph Humire, who served as an expert witness in a first-of-its-kind anti-Hezbollah trial in Peru, told me that he’d be surprised if Middle Easterners aren’t coming in with the caravan simply because they are already traveling these same routes on their own. “The #CaravanHonduras has exposed an important yet underreported issue — the presence and activity of radical Islamist terrorist movements in Central and South America,” said Humire, executive director of the Center for a Secure Free Society. “The movement of irregular migrants cannot be separated from the increase in SIAs in recent years, especially as we correlate the routes and chokepoints used by the Caravan in Guatemala and Mexico. The Aguas Calientes (Guate-Honduras) to Tecun Uman (Guate-Mexico) border crossings are a known SIA route used in the past, as recently as this past April-June when unidentified Palestinians with suspected terror ties took this same route.”

Indeed, these are the routes being taken by the current caravan. Keep in mind that the caravan is working through the Chiapas district of Mexico right near cities like San Cristobal that have populations of recent Muslim converts, a growing phenomenon in the region. None other than open-borders advocate and former Mexican President Vincente Fox accused some of them of having ties to al Qaeda. There are very strong reasons to be concerned with the caravan traveling a known SIA route and passing by such a community.

Humire’s sources in the Morales government also tell him that “at least 44 Syrians have been detained in Guatemala since 2016, all with forged or irregular documents and one with possible ties to ISIS.” Also, many other SIAs “have been moving through Guatemala with fraudulent documents from other countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia,” whom “local authorities believe are connected to Hezbollah.”

What about from this caravan? Humire sent me reports he’s received from Guatemalan law enforcement that Guatemala apprehended 100 individuals who were not from Honduras over the past 72 hours. On Friday, Guatemalan police claim to have apprehended seven Bangladeshis, two individuals from Sri Lanka, and one from Nepal. They are being processed for deportation. On Monday, they caught 11 Cubans and three more from Bangladesh. There have also been individuals from Angola, Congo, and Cameroon apprehended by local authorities.

Yesterday, the Daily Caller reported that a Univision reporter on the ground has confirmed the presence of Bangladeshis and that they were apprehended by Guatemalan authorities.

Could the Morales regime and his officials be exaggerating? Perhaps, but I think we ought to take Guatemalans seriously when they are warning of Middle Easterners traveling through the human smuggling routes headed north. Morales has every reason to cooperate with us now that Trump is threatening to suspend foreign aid.

Broadly speaking, it’s shocking how ignorant the elite media is about the growing threat of terrorism in Latin America at both the state level and the grassroots level. Not everything revolves around the Middle East, believe it or not.

Perhaps Tapper and his ilk should heed the words of Michael Braun, former chief of operations with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Braun sent Conservative Review the following statement regarding the president’s concern over Middle Easterners traveling along the Latin American migrant routes:

The President is justifiably concerned about Middle Eastern terrorist organizations exploiting our borders. Hezbollah and Iran’s IRGC Quds Force, which is responsible for clandestine foreign operations, to include assassinations, have significantly increased their footprint throughout Latin America and Mexico over the past decade … Hezbollah’s growing involvement in the global cocaine trade over the past decade has resulted in the formation of alliances with Colombian and Mexican drug trafficking cartels, the most sophisticated transnational organized crime syndicates law enforcement has ever faced.

Braun was responsible for oversight of all of the DEA’s foreign offices during the Bush years and has testified before Congress many times on the confluence of drug trafficking and terror networks, illicit finance, and other national security topics.

It’s important to remember that although the caravan is a big concern, there are hundreds of thousands of others crossing our border every year, quietly smuggled in by the cartels. This must be stopped as well. Thanks to our judicial amnesty, DHS incompetence, and congressional ineptitude, we have family units coming in record numbers. The Arizona Sherriff’s Association warned in a letter last week that Border Patrol “is currently using up to 40% of their available staff to monitor family units.” Congress and the courts have turned them into babysitters while MS-13, drugs, and yes, Middle Easterners, are crossing the border.

Typically the interdiction rate at the border is about 50 percent, but you have to imagine, given that the SIAs pay up to $30,000 for successful smuggling, that the border cartels, which control the entirety of the flow of movement across the border, are orchestrating the family unit crossings in a way that will ensure more of the high-value targets successfully cross un-interdicted. “The coyote is interested in one thing only — collecting his money and moving his illicit customers across that border as quickly as possible,” warned Braun. “Anyone believing for a moment that foreign terrorist organizations like Hezbollah don’t exploit situations like this simply don’t understand how the real underworld operates.”

As a man who combated human and drug trafficking in South and Central American jungles for decades, Braun would know how this world works. (For more from the author of “Trump Is Right, Mainstream Media Is Wrong on Terrorist Threat From Migrant Caravan” please click HERE)

DELUSION: Hillary Reacts Just as You’d Expect When She’s Introduced as ‘the Real President’

Former Secretary of State and twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is apparently still under the delusion that she is “the real president” of the United States after taking a historic loss to Donald Trump on November 8, 2016.

At a recent event with Gwen Carr, the mother to the late Eric Garner, Hillary was introduced as “the real president.” The Democrat nodded and smiled along as if this statement somehow reflected reality.

. . .

This sort of thing is par for the course with Hillary, though. The 70-year-old did not take the election less well. At one point, The Daily Wire was able to compile a list of 38 outrageous contributing factors Hillary blamed her loss on, including “being too honest,” content farms in Macedonia, sexism, former FBI Director James Comey, and Netflix.

Still not over the loss, rumors have circulated that Hillary thinks a third time might be the charm.

“On Friday, Former Hillary Clinton Aide Philippe Reines made comments that sparked rumors of a third presidential run. Reines, who worked with Clinton in the Senate, in the State Department and during her 2016 presidential campaign, told Politico that a third Clinton run is unlikely — but not entirely off the table,” notes Bustle. Decorated Vietnam Vet Sentenced to Prison for Automatic Rifle Purchased in the 1980s

A decorated Vietnam veteran and firearms collector was sentenced to seven years in federal prison Wednesday for a decades-old purchase of a rifle.

Alfred Pick, 70, purchased the M14 — a fully automatic weapon illegal to own — at a Ft. Worth gun show in the early 1980s, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The rifle, which had a scratched-off serial number, was similar to the one Pick used as an Army lieutenant in Vietnam, where he earned a Silver Star after participating in more than 100 combat missions and his brief time as a POW.

“The man is a Silver Star winner, he saved lives, he took care of his wife, he’s been in custody for a year, I would think that when a man turned 70 and is an American hero you don’t destroy the rest of his life for one mistake,” Mark Shackelford, a friend, told KDFW-TV.

Shackelford called the weapon the “piece de resistance” of Pick’s collection, adding that “He had shown it to me. I’ve never seen it taken out of the case. (Read more from “Decorated Vietnam Vet Sentenced to Prison for Automatic Rifle Purchased in the 1980s” HERE)

Mexican Ambassador Makes a Stunning Accusation About Migrant Caravan

The Mexican ambassador to the United States said that they had reason to believe that the migrant caravan from Honduras heading towards the U.S. border was not the result of a grassroots effort, but was “politically motivated.” . . .

“Mexico also issued a very clear statement saying if somebody is seeking asylum, Mexico is there along now with the U.N. to look at those claims, we want to make sure those claims are legitimate.” . . .

“We have evidence that this caravan is also very much politically motivated,” he claimed. . .

“But we have also made very clear that there’s no legal ground on which Mexico can issue a permit by which people can just go through Mexico towards the United States,” he concluded.

The caravan of migrants from Honduras began its long trek to the U.S. border on Saturday with about 1,000 participants. Reports say it has swelled to 4,000 migrants as it crossed from Honduras into Guatemala. (Read more from “Mexican Ambassador Makes a Stunning Accusation About Migrant Caravan” HERE)

Bill Walker Suspends Re-Election, Endorses Democrat

Independent Alaska Governor Bill Walker suspended his re-election bid on Friday, choosing instead to endorse the Democratic candidate, former Senator Mark Begich.

In an Instagram post, Walker conceded his inability to “win a three-way race” and expressed his belief that Begich would have a better shot at defeating Republican Mike Dunleavy in a two-person race. . .

Democratic Governors Association executive director Elisabeth Pearson called the move a “game-changer” that could shift the race to Begich. Before Walker’s withdrawal, Dunleavy, a former state senator, was polling ahead of both Begich and Walker, to the tune of over 40 percent to around 25 percent to the other two candidates, according to Politico.

Dear Alaskans, I ran for re-election because I still believe that, more than anything else, Alaska deserves integrity, honesty, and courage. Alaska First is, and cannot only be, a campaign slogan. When I said I ran for governor to do the job, not make the decisions to keep the job, I meant exactly what I said. Every decision I have made as your governor, I have made on the basis of what I believe is best for Alaska. With that said, effective today, I am suspending my campaign for re-election as Governor. With more time, I am confident that Val and I could deliver a message and a campaign that could earn a victory in this election. But there are only 18 days remaining before election day. Absentee ballots have already been mailed, and Alaskans are already voting. In the time remaining, I believe we cannot win a three-way race. This week I have talked to many Alaskans to determine whether I or Mark Begich had a better chance of running a competitive race against Mike Dunleavy. The determination was made that, at this point, Begich has the better odds. Alaskans deserve a competitive race. Alaskans deserve a choice other than Mike Dunleavy, whose record and campaign rhetoric indicate he will: eliminate Medicaid Expansion that has provided healthcare access to 44,000 Alaskans, created jobs and brought $1 billion federal dollars into the Alaskan economy while decreasing State healthcare expenditures by $16 million, kept hospitals from closing, and saved lives; defund the Alaska LNG Gasline project that has made historic progress, will create 12,000 high paying construction jobs, 88,000 direct and indirect jobs and deliver low cost energy to our homes and businesses; undo the bipartisan approved sustainable fiscal plan that has resulted in fiscal stability, significantly reduced the deficit, improved our credit rating and preserved the PFD program into perpetuity; cause our most vulnerable to suffer the brunt of the additional $1 billion in budget cuts he vows to make to education, rural Alaska and those receiving healthcare. Left-Wing Protester Who Harassed 9/11 Widow Runs for His Life When Confronted

Video of a left-wing protester telling an alleged 9/11 widow that her late husband should “rot in the grave” has gone viral.

The harassment of the woman took place in Portland, Oregon, during clashes between Antifa and pro-Trump factions.

The protester screamed at the woman in the video and looked to be ready for a physical confrontation. After the woman said “My husband died in 9/11,” the protester yelled “Good for him! Good. Good. NYPD were a bunch of sodomized — f***ing sodomizing immigrants with their bully sticks. Your husband should probably f***ing rot in the grave.” . . .

There was a standoff between the leftist and far-right protesters, but when a large group of Trump-supporting activists looked to confront him, the man who insulted the widow suddenly lost his nerve.

Extra footage posted on Twitter shows the same man who was harassing the woman earlier running for his life down the street as fast as he could. (Read more from “Left-Wing Protester Who Harassed 9/11 Widow Runs for His Life When Confronted” HERE)

White Journalist Dies Months After Racially Motivated Attack

Jerry Wolkowitz, a freelance journalist and EMT, died on Thursday months after he was attacked for being a “white man.”

Wolkowitz, 56, was attacked in New Jersey on May 1 by 26-year-old Jamil S. Hubbard.

“[Wolkowitz] was punched in the head and then dragged into the parking lot before being run over by a Chevrolet Malibu. His blue Kia Forte was then stolen,” the Asbury Park Press reported. . .

Hubbard was originally charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and bias intimidation, and a grand jury later added armed robbery, eluding and theft.

Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Keri-Leigh Schaefer said Hubbard chose his victim because “he was a white man” and wanted to kill him because of his race. (Read more from “White Journalist Dies Months After Racially Motivated Attack” HERE)
