Must See Video: Romney Roasts Obama, Biden at Al Smith Dinner

Whoever wrote Romney’s speech for the Al Smith Dinner last night deserves a medal. One line after another, it was absolutely hilarious.

Here are just a few:

“Don’t be surprised if the president mentions this evening the monthly jobs report where there was a slight improvement in the numbers. He knows how to seize the moment, this president. And already he has a compelling new campaign slogan, ‘You’re better off now than you were four weeks ago.'”

“Campaigns can be grueling, exhausting. President Obama and are each very lucky to have one person who is always in our corner, someone who we can lean on, and someone who is a comforting presence. Without whom, we wouldn’t be able to go another day. I have my beautiful wife Ann, he has Bill Clinton.”

“I have special admiration for the Apostle St. Peter, to whom it is said, ‘Upon this rock, I will build my church.’ The story is all the more inspiring when you consider that he had so many skeptics and scoffers at the time who were heard to say, ‘If you’ve got a church, you didn’t build that.'”

Romney’s son says he wanted to PUNCH Obama after he called his father a ‘liar’; O’Donnell Says, ‘Let’s Get it On’ (+videos)

By Toby Harnden. Mitt Romney’s eldest son Taggart – known as Tagg – has said he wanted to punch Barack Obama during Tuesday’s fiery debate in Long Island, New York.

His frank admission – delivered with a laugh during a local radio interview – came after it emerged that Michelle Obama broke the debate rules to clap when moderator Candy Crowley took her husband’s side on whether he had described the Bengahzi attack as a terrorist act.

At times in the debate it seemed as though Obama and Romney might have a physical confrontation as they circled each other like gladiators in a ring, wagged their fingers and interrupted each other.

Each accused the other of playing fast and lose with the facts. When Romney said that the president was ‘completely and totally wrong’, Obama shot back: ‘Governor, that’s not true.’

The encounter was perhaps the most rancorous in U.S. presidential debate history. The two men have made little secret of their disdain for each other. Read more from this story HERE.

Video: Liberal Bob Beckel – “It’s Over, it’s Over”; Romney Leads by 7 Points

On Fox News’ “The Five”, former Democratic strategist Bob Beckel sounded defeated when reflecting on today’s Gallup poll showing Mitt Romney taking a 52-46 percent lead over Barack Obama nationally.

“It’s over. If these numbers are true, it’s over,” Beckel said.

That’s consistent with Karl Rove’s opinion, as well. Rove noted that Romney’s support among likely voters has increased significantly in the race and there’s never been a past US election where a candidate for president has lost while at 50% or above among likely voters in mid-October.

Here’s the Fox News interview with Beckel:

House Investigating Obama’s $8.3 Billion Slush Fund Created to Hide Impacts of Obamacare on Medicare Prior to Election

President Obama had a big political problem: Obamacare destroys the popular Medicare Advantage program, which offers private insurance plans to supplement Medicare. Something like a quarter of Medicare beneficiaries use this program. (It’s funny how free-market competition is both popular and effective when it’s actually tried, isn’t it?)

Obamacare sucks over $200 billion out of Medicare Advantage, something that would have been very noticeable through price increases and benefit reductions during open enrollment… which began in October, right before the election.

If you’re Barack Obama, you solve a problem like that by throwing huge amounts of other peoples’ money at it. So it was that a little “demonstration project” to reward the most effective Medicare Advantage plans was suddenly inflated into a titanic $8.3 billion slush fund – bigger than the 85 previous demonstration projects combined – in order to delay the pain of Medicare Advantage cuts until after the election. The standards for receiving payouts from this “incentive” program were lowered so much that even mediocre plans could receive a “reward.” It wouldn’t do to have seniors opening envelopes that say their premiums have skyrocketed or some of their favorite benefits have been dropped, right before the election!

The House Oversight Committee began investigating this jumbo Slurpee of slush in May, and ran into a Health and Human Services stonewall so obvious that it’s comical. A request for documents on May 23 was ignored by HHS. It was repeated on August 1, and ignored again. House Oversight fired off emails to a couple of HHS staffers, and didn’t get a response for weeks… at which point the HHS Deputy Director for Oversight and Investigation said, “I’m checking on the status and will get back to you,” but never got back to anybody.

Billy Graham stops calling Mormonism a ‘cult’ to help Romney

Evangelist Reverend Billy Graham has decided to no longer refer to Mormonism as a ‘cult’ following a sit-down meeting with Mitt Romney last week.

The 93-year-old Christian leader met with the Republican candidate for the first time at his home in North Carolina last week.

An article on Graham’s website defining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a cult – along with Scientology and Unitarianism -has been taken down following the meeting, as Graham said he ‘did not wish to participate in a theological debate’.

However the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association stopped short of calling it a change in their opinion of Mormonism.

A statement from the Billy Graham Association read: ‘We removed the information from the website because we do not wish to participate in a theological debate about something that has become politicized during this campaign.’

Van Jones on CNN: Romney Was a “Douche,” Obama Was a “Wimp” (+video)

Former Obama green jobs czar Van Jones said on CNN’s “Situation Room” on Tuesday that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney had acted like a “douche,” and President Barack Obama like a “wimp,” during the first presidential debate.

“You had two guys up there–one was kind of acting like a douche, and one was acting kind of like a wimp, and between a wimp and a douche–” Jones said.

“Those are strong words, Van,” said Gloria Borger.

“Those are strong words, but if that’s the divide, I think people are going to want somebody who seems like a stronger leader even if they were a little bit obnoxious. I think what you’re going to see now is who’s the real guy,” Jones said.

“You’re saying Romney was obnoxious?” asked Borger. [Read more from this story HERE]

Kirstin Powers weighed in on the debate question last night that pandered to women voters. Powers told Megyn Kelly on America Live, “Actually we’re more than our vaginas, believe it or not”:

Video: Who’s Going to Win in November? Karl Rove Disagrees With the Experts

Although Larry Sabato and other political experts all contend that it’s anybody’s guess as to who will win the next month, Karl Rove vigorously disagrees.

In this Fox News interview, Rove says that Romney has moved to above 50% support among likely voters for the first time in the race.

Rove contends that there has never a past US election where a candidate for president has lost while at 50% or above among likely voters in mid-October.

Romney Polling Better Than Reagan With Jewish Voters

The IBD [Investor Business Daily] tracking polls have been shifting in and out when it comes to the Jewish vote, but over the last week it’s been a close race between Romney and Obama. And in some polls, even the share of every Republican in the last 100 years…

The Jewish vote, like the national vote, is somewhat cyclical. There’s a liberal share of the pie that is unwinnable, but also has no long term future for simple demographic reasons that are already taking hold in New York City. And there is a share that is up for grabs.

The cycle now appears to be shifting away from the Democrats who have blown the economy and the Middle East, both issues of concern to Jewish voters and all voters.

Romney may not beat Reagan’s share of the Jewish vote in the actual election, but right now he’s polling ahead of him…

A shift this major might have all sorts of implications for the future.

Romney Wins Debate on Critical Issues

President Obama showed up ready to rumble last night at the Hofstra University, unfortunately for him, so did Mitt Romney.

But Romney had to debate the President and a mediator who thought she had to pitch in to help out the President if he appeared in trouble. Candy Crowley interrupted Romney 28 times, while she only admonished Obama 9 times for exceeding his time.

There are analysts saying President Obama scored some debate points and critiqued Romney for not taking advantage of clear openings to land a knockout blow on Obama. But when the “fog of the debate” clears, polls will show that Mitt Romney has picked up more support from the American electorate.

Some after the debate flash polls showed that Obama had an edge in the debate. But the question asked was who was the most improved from the Denver debate, of course that was Obama….and who performed close to expectations: Romney.

The left leaning CNN poll shortly after the debate showed that Romney had a 58-40 edge on the issue of economics/who had the best plan for righting our economic ship.

Additionally Romney had the edge in the following 3 key areas:

• Taxes 51-44

• Solving budget deficit 59-36

• Healthcare 49-46

President Obama still had a slight edge on Mitt Romney when it comes to foreign policy. But ominously for President Obama, the Benghazi attack on our consulate and murder of 4 Americans is becoming a big issue. Additionally it seems Al Quaeda and terrorism didn’t disappear from the scene when Osama Bin Laden was killed.

Another key item that will vex President Obama, is the sky high cost of gasoline plaguing American motorists and businesses. Last night Mitt Romney was able to lay that blame squarely on the shoulders of Obamas last 4 years of energy policy.

Political scientist Frank Luntz monitored a panel of 21 voters, many of whom previously voted for Obama in 2008. After the debate a majority of them said they will be voting for Romney.

A newly released Gallup Poll showed that Mitt Romney has jumped to a national lead against President Obama 51-45.

Romney’s popularity in the national polls is making a difference in swing states that were formerly assumed to be President Obama’s, or were leaning his way. They are now very close or leaning Romney.

Pundits might say they give the edge to Obama in points in this last debate, but the points that really matter to Americans all belong to Mitt Romney.
