Gosnell's "House of Horrors" Experiments Revealed

One of Gosnell’s assistants, in a recent Philadelphia grand jury report, described the Super Coil as “basically plastic razors that were formed into a ball” and covered in gel. “After several hours of body temperature, it would then — the gel would melt, and these 97 things would spring open, supposedly cutting up the fetus, and the fetus would be expelled.”

[Harvey] Karman, under the auspices of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, had traveled to Bangladesh to abort babies conceived through rape by soldiers. Now the inventor was taking his weapon in the abortion wars to Gosnell’s clinic, and New York’s public television station was there to catch it on camera. Things didn’t go well.

“At least two of the 18 women given abortions had to be hospitalized afterward,” the Tribune reported. “One of them almost died. Nine suffered other complications, including bleeding and infection.”

When Karman, a former colleague of Gosnell, died in 2008, much of the media touted him as a hero. The Chicago Tribune’s obituary read: “Harvey Karman 84, flamboyant psychologist who invented a device that made a key contribution to women’s reproductive health, particularly by making abortions simpler, less expensive and less painful; May 6, in Santa Barbara, Calif., of a stroke.”

Indeed, Karman’s abortion method for the first trimester — suctioning out a tiny baby with a modified syringe — became the industry norm. Karman’s Super Coil was abandoned.

Liberal Media: “We Made a Decision Not to Cover the Gosnell Trial”

The mainstream media was caught with its pants down on failing to report on the gruesome trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortionist who is charged with murdering one woman and seven infants born alive during abortion procedures. As might have been expected, abortion supporters are now finding ways to spin what most human beings would say is unspinnable.

The left’s talking points on the Gosnell “house of horrors” trial is that we need less restrictions on, and more funding for, abortion in order to keep the Gosnell situation from happening again.

Using “back-alley abortion” rhetoric popular in the Roe v. Wade years, Katha Pollitt of The Nation argues that, had abortion been legal in Pennsylvania past 24 weeks, and had there been more Medicaid funding of abortions, so that “poor” and “immigrant” women did not have to use Gosnell’s clinic for their abortions, the “house of horrors” could have been prevented.

'House of Horrors' Gosnell Injured Several Women in 1970s Abortion Experiment

More revelations are coming to light about the gruesome abortion business Kermit Gosnell ran where he killed a woman in an abortion and killed babies in grisly abortion-infanticides and kept their bodies as trophies.

But new information is also coming to light about the abortion practice Gosnell ran for decades — including in the 1970s when he injured several women in a odd experiment on women using a new abortion method. Whether Gosnell obtained the consent of women to engage in this experiment is unknown but multiple women were injured as a result.

Ironically the experiment and the injures to women via abortions occurred on Mother’s Day. One of the strongest practical arguments in favor of the Roe regime is that abortion has been around since time immemorial and outlawing it only drove it underground, leading women to endanger themselves by seeking out the services of back-alley quacks. The Philadelphia grand jurors recounted a powerful example from their own city’s history.

It was called the Mother’s Day Massacre. A young Philadelphia doctor “offered to perform abortions on 15 poor women who were bused to his clinic from Chicago on Mother’s Day 1972, in their second trimester of pregnancy.” The women didn’t know that the doctor “planned to use an experimental device called a ‘super coil’ developed by a California man named Harvey Karman.”

Jury Told Gosnell Kept 47 Aborted Babies in Cat Food and Drink Containers

[T]he most shocking portion of today’s hearing revolved around Gosnell’s habit of storing the bodies of babies he butchered in abortions.

“This morning’s testimony from the medical examiner discussed remains of 47 babies found in cat food and cherry lime ade containers,” says Cheryl Sullenger of Operation Rescue, who is in the courtroom listening to the trial. “All containers contained bloody fluid and human remains.”

She said it took the medical examiner, Dr. Gulino, five days just to catalog the containers of fetal parts and the examiner also examined feet and lower extremity found in jars of formaldehyde belonging to five babies Gosnell killed. The ages of the unborn children ranged from first trimester to 22 weeks and the latter baby was possibly viable.

“Most fetuses he examined were found in cat food, other containers. Frozen in red plastic bags,” Sullenger said. “He never encountered situation before and attempted to get guidance. This case was ‘unprecedented’ he said”…

Gosnell faces 43 criminal counts, including eight counts of murder in the death of one patient, Karnamaya Monger, and seven newborn infants. Additional charges include conspiracy, drug delivery resulting in death, infanticide, corruption of minors, evidence tampering, theft by deception, abuse of corpse, and corruption. Gosnell could face the death penalty if convicted and he faces a mandatory minimum 20 years.

Obama, Who Supported Infanticide as State Senator, is Supposedly Following 'House of Horrors' Murder Trial

President Obama is following the murder trial of a Philadelphia abortionist, but the White House wouldn’t say Monday whether he’s drawn any conclusions from the gruesome testimony. [Obama, as a state senator, supported the killing of newborns who survived failed abortions]

“The president is aware of this,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said in response to a reporter’s question of whether Mr. Obama is paying attention to the trial of Kermit Gosnell.

But asked if Mr. Obama had reached any public policy lessons from the trial, Mr. Carney said, “The president does not and cannot take a position on an ongoing trial.”

Dr. Gosnell is on trial on murder and other charges in Philadelphia stemming from his 2010 arrest for conducting an alleged “house of horrors” abortion clinic in a poor inner-city Philadelphia neighborhood.

Federal Judge Tells Mississippi that it Can't Shut Down State's Only Abortion Mill

A federal judge on Monday temporarily blocked Mississippi from revoking the license of the state’s only abortion clinic. U.S. District Judge Daniel P. Jordan III extended an injunction he issued several months ago, which blocks the state from closing the clinic while it tries to fulfill a 2012 state law.

The law requires all OB-GYNs who do abortions at Jackson Women’s Health Organization to have privileges to admit patients to a local hospital.

Jordan’s ruling comes three days before the state Department of Health was scheduled to hold a license revocation hearing for the clinic over its acknowledged inability to get the admitting privileges. Now the administrative hearing won’t be held, said health department spokeswoman Liz Sharlot.

Jordan’s ruling says the state cannot close the clinic while it still has a federal lawsuit pending to challenge the 2012 law. A trial date has not been set.

The Department of Health notified Jackson Women’s Health Organization in late January that it intended to revoke the clinic’s license. The clinic was allowed to stay open as it awaited this week’s hearing.

Abortionist's Case Raises Troubling Questions

Until late last week, almost nobody outside of Philadelphia or the pro-life activist community had heard of Gosnell or his trial, which began two weeks ago. The New York Times had one story at the start of the trial in March, and then nothing.

Conservative media critic Mollie Hemingway of the blog GetReligion spent a good part of last week asking reporters who normally cover such issues why they were clamming up on this trial. Washington Post writer Sarah Kliff, who covers abortion extensively, responded that she didn’t cover “local crime.”

Many conservatives noted that the Newton, Conn., school massacre and the killing of Trayvon Martin could be described as “local crime,” yet they warranted national media attention. Why not an alleged serial-killing abortionist?

It’s a good question, especially because the policy debate Gosnell stirs up could give ammunition to either side. Abortion defender Katha Pollitt, for instance, wrote after Gosnell’s arrest last year, “What fueled Gosnell’s business were the very restrictions the legislature was so keen on passing. …”

On the other side, Gosnell’s crimes are also relevant to President Obama’s abortion record. As a state senator, Obama repeatedly voted against legislation requiring hospitals to care for babies born during abortions. Such laws might somehow be used in the future to infringe on abortion’s legality, Obama argued.

The US Abortion Lobby is 'Engaged in a Pedophile Protection Racket'

In what has been called the worst child sex abuse scandal in American history, the abortion industry could soon find itself beleaguered by multiple lawsuits from trial lawyers representing hundreds of thousands of victims of statutory rape.

“The abortion lobby is engaged in a pedophile protection racket and protecting pedophiles who rape underage girls,” Mark Crutcher, founder of Life Dynamics, said. “These abortion clinics receive money from the federal government. We are literally paying for the rape of our young daughters.”

Life Dynamics conducted extensive research into why 60-80 percent of teen pregnancies were the result of being impregnated by an adult.

“We realized that something had to have accounted for how this occurred beneath the radar to the point where no one except those who study it would know about it,” he explained. “The only way this could happen is if the institutions and the entities out there who should be reporting this were not doing so. We talked to people we knew in the medical community who worked in environments where they would have access to children or worked in the emergency room hospitals and started asking them about it.”

He said they quickly discovered the problem was not in the hospitals, but in the vast numbers of abortion clinics around the country where employees and managers were ignoring state laws mandating they report instances of possible child abuse to law-enforcement.

Rep. Chris Smith: 'If Gosnell had shot Seven Infants with an AR-15 it would be National News'

Thanks to conservative new media, the Kermit Gosnell trial is finally part of the national dialog. But before the mainstream press got around to doing their job, ten congressmen took to the floor of the House to protest the lack of media attention being paid to the horrifying story. One such congressman, Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), contrasted the abortionist’s trial to another ongoing narrative that the media covers obsessively: gun control. “If Dr. Gosnell had walked into a nursery and shot seven infants with an AR-15, it would be national news and the subject of presidential hand-wringing,” said Smith, a member of the House pro-life caucus.

LifeSiteNews reports that Smith accused the national media of almost uniformly discounting the trial of the abortionist who allegedly snipped the spinal cords of babies who were born alive during abortion procedures in his clinic. Smith referred to the media’s decision to ignore the trial as a deliberate “cover-up.”

“Will the decades-long major national news media cover-up of the brutality—and violence—of abortion methods ever end?” asked Smith. “Will Americans ever be told the horrifying details as to how—and how often—abortionists dismember, decapitate, and chemically poison innocent babies?”

Smith went on to ask, “Murdering newborns in the abortion clinic, it seems to me, is indistinguishable from any other child predator wielding a knife or a gun. Why isn’t that child seen as a patient in need of medical care, warmth, nutrition and dare I say—love?”

Testimony in the Gosnell trial, that has included descriptions of gruesome acts of beheadings, abuse, death, and body parts of babies in jars, has led to the abortionist’s clinic being labeled a “house of horrors.”

DeMint Calls on American Grassroots to Expose Gosnell Story Amid Media Blackout

Former South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint continues sending shock waves through the Washington establishment in his new post atop the conservative Heritage Foundation, this time calling on the grassroots citizenry to rise up and replace the mainstream media when it comes to their blackout of coverage of the atrocities of Kermit Gosnell.

“The murder trial of Kermit Gosnell has touched all Americans who have heard about it and brought home to them the unspeakable cruelties that have happened at abortion clinics in our own nation,” DeMint said in a Friday statement. “The trial is now nearing its first solid month of deliberation, holding the 72-year-old abortionist accountable for the unspeakable procedures committed to countless women and children in his abortion facility. Nobody who has read the testimony or seen the pictures can come away unshaken.”

Even so, DeMint argues that not enough Americans have seen this story because most major media outlets have ignored it. But, the former South Carolina senator notes that the mainstream media are hardly the only source of news anymore, and that new media are taking old media’s place.
