Women Behind Legalization of Abortion Now Want Decisions Reversed

WASHINGTON, D.C.(LifeSiteNews.com) – In the debate over abortion in the United States, two women’s names appear more frequently than any others: Jane Roe and Mary Doe, the plaintiffs in the companion 1973 Supreme Court cases that legalized abortion in the country.

As the 40th anniversary of those two cases – Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton – approaches later this month, news media is already filling up with retrospectives from leaders on both sides of the issue about the past 40 years and the state of the abortion debate.

In the midst of this flurry of media coverage a woman named Sandro Cano has quietly issued a media release on a Christian newswire service calling for the two Supreme Court cases to be overturned. This in itself might seem unremarkable, until you learn Cano’s other name: Mary Doe.

Yes, that Mary Doe.

Sandra Cano is none other than the plaintiff in Doe v. Bolton, the lesser known of the two Supreme Court cases that opened the floodgates of abortion in the U.S.

In 1970, a 22-year-old Cano was pregnant with her fourth child, after having lost custody of two of her children and adopting out the third. Abortion was illegal in Georgia, the state where Cano was living, except in extreme circumstances, but lawyers argued that she should be allowed to abort. In a decision released on the same day as Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed.

Planned Parenthood Exploits Martin Luther King for Fundraiser

The Wisconsin affiliate of the Planned Parenthood abortion business is exploiting the name of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for a donation event, despite the fact that his niece says he would have been pro-life on abortion.

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin has launched what it calls MLK Community Donation Drives that is claims honor King’s legacy.

“In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and our commitment to serving the community in 2013 and beyond, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is hosting community donation drives,” it says on its donation page.

“Please join us in our efforts to keep Wisconsin families safe, healthy and strong! Planned Parenthood locations around the state are collecting items of particular need for each local community,” it adds. “Below is the list of participating Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin locations, community/donation partners, and items being collected. Please join our efforts by dropping off your items at a participating location on or before February 1.”

The community donation drive is a fine event that assembled everything from canned goods for local shelters to personal items for women for domestic violence shelters. But Planned Parenthood slaps Martin Luther King Jr’s name on it and uses a photo of him to endorse the event, as if he would support the modern-day Planned Parenthood abortion business.

Poll: More Than Four in Five Americans Support Major Limitations on Abortion

(National Right to Life News)—A new Marist poll conducted for the Knights of Columbus reveals that 83% of Americans favor significant limitations on what is now essentially abortion on demand. That is up 4 points from last year.

A total of 56% of respondents believe either that abortion should never be permitted (10%), allowed only to save the life of the mother (12%), or only in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother (34%).

The telephone survey of 1,246 adults conducted in early December found that 27% would limit abortion to the first three months of pregnancy, at most. Another 6% would allow abortion during the first six months of pregnancy while only 11% would allow abortion at any time.

Nearly 6 in 10 Americans (58%) also believe abortion is “morally wrong.” And in many ways perhaps most important of all, a full 84% of Americans say laws can protect both mothers and unborn children.

Mother Releases Horrendous Autopsy Photos of Daughter Killed in Botched Abortion

A pro-life group has released the graphic images today of a woman who was killed in a botched legal abortion. The group says they are some of the first images ever seen publicly of a woman who was brutalized by an abortion that claimed her life.

[Editor’s Note: These photographs are very graphic, so caution is highly advised. Click HERE for the images]

When 18-year-old Marla Cardamone was killed having an abortion at a Pennsylvania hospital, her mother, Deborah, vowed that she would never let her daughter be forgotten. Then, late last year, she approached the pro-life group Life Dynamics and asked the group’s president Mark Crutcher to help her show the public the risks women face when they submit to abortions.

Today, Life Dynamics is releasing a new brochure revealing what happened to Marla and her unborn son, including ghastly photos from Marla’s autopsy. The organization has also created a new website SafeandLegal.com that features the images and more information on how botched legal abortions kill and injure women.

“The pro-life movement has never had images to illustrate the unimaginable brutality and ugliness of women being killed in America’s “Safe and Legal” abortion clinics. But those days are over,” Crutcher told LifeNews. “We are going to show America what it looks like when women climb onto a table in one of these places and end up on an autopsy table a few hours later.”

“These images are a powerful new weapon unlike anything the pro-life movement has ever had before. Because of Deborah’s courage, we finally have the ability to expose one of the pro-choice lobby’s dirtiest little secrets,” Crutcher continued. “And that is exactly what Life Dynamics is committed to doing. Starting today, we are sending a clear and unmistakable message to Planned Parenthood and the rest of the abortion industry that they will no longer be allowed to kill the Marla Cardamones of this world and then just walk away from them like they never existed.

Video: Coulter Tears Into Liberal Gun Hypocrisy, Suggests Publishing List Of Women Who Get Abortions

Sean Hannity continued his pushback against gun control advocates with Ann Coulter tonight. They focused on how strongly liberals work in the wake of every mass shooting to crack down on guns. Coulter suspected many of them would rather forget the Second Amendment, while continuing to explain her issues with the NRA’s armed guards proposal.

Hannity first brought up the newspaper that published the names of all local gun owners, pointing out the list inadvertently alerts all criminals to which houses do not have guns. Coulter claimed that home invasions are more common in England than in the United States because of their strong gun laws. She asked why gun owners can be publicly identified but criminal records cannot be released in a similar fashion.

Hobby Lobby CEO: “Government Cannot Force You to Follow Laws That Go Against Your … Religious Belief”

When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn’t much bigger than most people’s living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God’s word. From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation’s largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.

We’re Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I’ve always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God’s laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that’s what we’ve tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week’s biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest. We believe that it is by God’s grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees. We’ve not only added jobs in a weak economy, we’ve raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at 80% above minimum wage.

But now, our government threatens to change all of that. A new government health care mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don’t pay for drugs that might cause abortions, which means that we don’t cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs. It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one. If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million PER DAY in government fines.

Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy. Our government threatens to fine a company that’s raised wages four years running. Our government threatens to fine a family for running its business according to its beliefs. It’s not right. I know people will say we ought to follow the rules; that it’s the same for everybody. But that’s not true. The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won’t exempt them for reasons of religious belief.

So, Hobby Lobby and my family are forced to make a choice. With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business. We don’t like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.

My family has lived the American dream. We want to continue growing our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but the government is going to make that much more difficult. The government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and following the law. I say that’s a choice no American and no American business should have to make.

The government cannot force you to follow laws that go against your fundamental religious belief. They have exempted thousands of companies but will not except Christian organizations including the Catholic church.

Since you will not see this covered in any of the liberal media, pass this on to all your contacts.

Liberalism’s ‘Anti-Science’ Problem

Millions of Americans born around the time of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision are about to turn 40. They don’t realize what it was like to live before the Supreme Court ruling. Back then, most liberals had an open-minded view of abortion due mostly to a lack of medical knowledge. Early-term fetuses were thought to be hardly more than cellular formations, which doctors called “products of conception” or “blobs of tissue.” Lacking any real science on early fetal development, the main arguments against abortion tended to be religious. Things have changed.

Now four decades later, anyone can own beautiful videos that show every stage of the gestation process. Thanks to state of the art 4D Ultrasound scans, scientifically accurate special effects and microscopy footage, we can witness the unborn child forming fingers and toes. We can learn how science knows its gender, when its heart starts to beat, when it smiles, when it feels pain and much, much more. Plus, we can watch it all happen from the comfort of our living rooms.

I don’t think the abortion debate has caught up with the moral significance of this cataclysmic shift. The science of the unborn child isn’t just settled – it’s on TV!

And yet, there is still a great deal of ignorance on the meaning of it all. Liberals say they’re personally against abortion but believe that once impregnated, women have the right to decide whether or not to keep the child. But here’s the logical problem: An unborn child cannot be two things at once. It cannot be something precious and at the same time something worthless. When the British Royals announce a pregnancy, people celebrate “the baby”; they don’t celebrate “the choice.”

Common sense and reason tell us that a mother’s decision can’t change her baby’s reality any more than she can change a chair into a table just by wishing it so. This presents another problem for liberals: They know an unborn child isn’t worthless, but if they call it precious, that compromises their “abortion rights” position.

Rand Paul Promotes Bill To ‘End Abortion On Demand Once And For All’

Republican Senator Rand Paul says he wants to pass a Life at Conception Act to “end abortion on demand once and for all.”

Senator Paul, R-KY, recently recorded a message for the National Pro-Life Alliance (NPLA), talking about the legislation, which would declare unborn babies legal persons from the moment of conception and give them Constitutional protections.

The senator says Congress can legislatively overturn the Supreme Court‘s Roe v. Wade decision by passing a “personhood” law called the Life at Conception Act.

The law would establish that human life begins at conception, and extend 14th Amendment protection to babies in the womb.

Justice Harry Blackmun wrote in the 1973 ruling that if a fetus can be defined as a person, the “right” to abortion “collapses, for the fetus’s right to life is then guaranteed specifically by the [14th] Amendment.”

Pro-Life Message is Winning: 13 of 16 Candidates Endorsed by Alaska Right to Life Victorious

Contrary to much of the propaganda being pushed by some politicos, the pro-life message is a winner. Thirteen of the sixteen candidates endorsed by Alaska Right to Life PAC prevailed in the November elections.

If you think that is anomalous, it comes on the heels of a primary election season in which eight out of eleven Alaska Right to Life endorsed candidates won contested primaries. Included in that number were two now senators-elect who bested incumbents: Mike Dunleavy of Wasilla, and Peter Micciche of Soldotna. Alaska Right to Life did independent expenditures for both.

In the general election, Alaska Right to Life PAC funded two independent expenditures: one for Bob Bell of Anchorage who lost by a mere 59 votes to one of the state’s top Democrat pro-abortion advocates; the other for Pete Kelly of Fairbanks who defeated Democrat incumbent Joe Paskvan.

Alaska Right to Life’s efforts appear to be paying off with the formation of a new pro-life Republican majority in the State Senate. The House has a large Republican majority as well, but the jury is still out on whether pro-lifers will be able to move key legislation after House Speaker Mike Chenault invited five Democrats into the Majority coalition.

With a combined 27 endorsed candidates in both elections, and 21 victories, we at Alaska Right to Life want to pause and give thanks to God that we are one step closer to ending the blight of abortion in Alaska. If we can retain our gains, and replicate these successes over the next couple election cycles, it is our belief that we can soon close the books on this sad chapter of our State’s history.
