A federal judge has temporarily blocked a Mississippi law that bans abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected, usually at the sixth or seventh week of pregnancy.
The law was scheduled to go into effect July 1.
“Here we go again,” wrote U.S. District Judge Carlton W. Reeves, an Obama-era appointee, in his opinion. “Mississippi has passed another law banning abortions prior to viability.” . . .
Reeves continued:
This Court previously found the 15-week ban to be an unconstitutional violation of substantive due process because the Supreme Court has repeatedly held that women have the right to choose an abortion prior to viability, and a fetus is not viable at 15 weeks lmp. If a fetus is not viable at 15 weeks lmp, it is not viable at 6 weeks lmp.
By Breitbart. The vice president of government affairs for Our Own Voice, National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice, said at a protest on Tuesday at the U.S. Supreme Court that banning or restricting abortion is a throwback to “breeding” black slaves.
“Black women coined the term reproductive justice 25 years ago,” Jessica Pickney said, adding that the goal of getting that justice was to “dismantle reproductive oppression.”
“Reproduction oppression looks like forced breeding of enslaved black women,” Pickney said.
The protest, organized by pro-abortion and left-wing organizations like Planned Parenthood, NARAL, the Women’s March, and MoveOn.org was in response to several states recently crafting and passing legislation to protect the unborn and, eventually, sending a court battle over abortion back to the high court where the 1973 Roe v. Wade made abortion on demand the law of the land. . .
“It is no coincidence that the parts of this country with the worst maternal maternity rates, the highest incidence of voter suppression and overall troublesome health outcomes for black women are the same states that wish to eliminate our access to abortion care,” Pickney said. Democrats Cancel Fundraiser for Their Own Congressman Because of His Anti-Abortion Views
By Washington Examiner. The head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee canceled a fundraiser for a anti-abortion-rights Democrat who has served in Congress for more than a decade after progressive complaints.
Rep. Sheri Bustos, chairwoman of the DCCC, canceled a $1,000-per-person fundraiser for fellow Illinois Rep. Daniel Lipinski. Lipinski, who opposes abortion, is facing a primary challenge from a progressive pro-abortion Democrat.
Although she didn’t directly say why she is backing out of the event, Bustos released a statement that tied the decision to the controversy surrounding the strict abortion laws being enacted in Republican-led states.
“I’m proud to have a 100 percent pro-choice voting record and I’m deeply alarmed by the rapidly escalating attacks on women’s access to reproductive care in several states,” Bustos said. (Read more from “Democrats Cancel Fundraiser for Their Own Congressman Because of His Anti-Abortion Views” HERE)
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker, N.J., seized on the national abortion debate Tuesday, unveiling an expansive abortion rights plan as part of his campaign platform that would involve the creation of a White House office dedicated to abortion.
“On Day One, I will create a White House Office of Reproductive Freedom, charged with coordinating and affirmatively advancing abortion rights and access to reproductive health care across my Administration,” Booker pledged in a statement Tuesday, “addressing all barriers to full reproductive autonomy, such as access to health care, including maternal and infant health, quality, affordable child care, and comprehensive paid family leave.”
Booker’s sweeping “reproductive rights” plan would also reverse the pro-life executive orders from President Donald Trump that bar federal funds from assisting organizations that promote or facilitate abortions; end the Hyde Amendment, which bars federal funds from being used to procure abortions; and once again force employer health plans to cover the cost of contraception.
“It has never been more important to stand in solidarity and join the fight to ensure that all women have access to reproductive health care and abortion rights,” Booker’s statement concluded. “These far-right attacks on women’s rights must be understood as an attack on all of our rights.”
The announcement of Booker’s abortion plan comes in the wake of a national discussion over pro-life laws in Ohio, Georgia, and Alabama, which either restrict abortion to the first few weeks of pregnancy or outlaw the process altogether.
In addition to the proposal, Booker also wrote “An Open Letter to Men on Abortion” last week for GQ, in which he wrote: “Men, it’s on us to listen, to speak out, and to take action. Not because women are our mothers, sisters, wives or friends — but because women are people. And all people deserve to control their own bodies.”
Abortion has become a major discussion point in the 2020 Democratic primary, and that discussion has mainly been a contest of who can move the furthest to the Left on the issue. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., tried to use Christianity to justify abortion, Joe Biden has now flip-flopped on the Hyde Amendment, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) wants to hamstring states’ abilities to pass pro-life laws. By The Blaze. Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp on Saturday mocked the plethora of celebrities threatening to boycott the state over its new, restrictive abortion law.
Celebrities like Alyssa Milano and Alec Baldwin have spoken out against the law, and signed letters of protest to demand that the state abandon the heartbeat bill. . .
During remarks at the Georgia Republican Convention, Kemp acknowledged the controversy the new law caused for many leftists and liberals.
“I understand that some folks don’t like this new law,” he said. “I’m fine with that. We’re elected to do what’s right — and standing up for precious life is always the right thing to do.”
Kemp went on to specifically pinpoint celebrities in his defense of the new law. Pointing out that the Republican Party is the “party of freedom and opportunity,” Kemp said that he will continue doing what’s right even if naysayers push back. Kemp Mocks ‘C-List Celebrities’ Threatening Boycott over Pro-Life Law
By AJC. “I understand that some folks don’t like this new law. I’m fine with that,” he said. “We’re elected to do what’s right – and standing up for precious life is always the right thing to do.”
Kemp added: “We are the party of freedom and opportunity. We value and protect innocent life — even though that makes C-list celebrities squawk.” . . .
He also hearkened back to his controversial TV spots featuring him pointing a shotgun toward his daughter’s suitor, and another showing him threatening to “round up illegals” in his pickup truck if Congress didn’t take action. . .
Kemp said his administration will ensure “our guns are not up for grabs here” and said he would press Congress to provide aid for farmers devastated by the October hurricane “even if I have to get in my pickup truck and drive to D.C. and get it myself – and yes, I just said that.” (Read more from “Kemp Mocks ‘C-List Celebrities’ Threatening Boycott over Pro-Life Law” HERE)

By The Blaze. “Slightly Offens*ve” host Elijah Schaffer headed to the Hollywood Walk of Fame to ask fellow Californians what they think about Georgia’s new abortion bill, which bans all abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected, and Alabama’s new law that effectively bans all abortions. . .
“I don’t want a baby. I’m already struggling to lose weight,” said one of the women.
“I don’t think a baby is a baby. It’s a parasite,” added the other. . .
The conversation took an bizarre and unexpected turn when the woman suddenly announced, “I think if I saw a baby on the street in a trash can, I’d probably pick it up.”
The two women then compared abortion to euthanizing animals for “population control.”

Ultrasound photo brings wrath of abortion-supporters
By Life Site News. Abortion activists tried to cover the image of an unborn baby smiling in the womb Tuesday during a rally in the Rhode Island statehouse over a controversial proposed bill to expand abortion in state law.
Hundreds of pro-life advocates and abortion-supporters convened at the state’s capitol Tuesday as the Senate Judiciary Committee was set to vote on the legislation. The bill, which pro-life residents termed as extreme and going far beyond Roe v. Wade, failed to pass the committee.
The image that the abortion activists wanted covered was a smiling baby captured in a 4-D ultrasound, on a roughly 4’x 4’ sign that also included the text “Save me.”
During the demonstration, pro-abortion activists tried to cover the image of the smiling unborn child, primarily with Planned Parenthood-produced promotional signs that stated, “Protect safe, legal abortion.” . . .
While several states, such as Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Georgia, and Ohio, have passed strong pro-life laws to protect the unborn from abortion, and others like Louisiana and Missouri are close to joining them, a number have followed New York’s lead from January of this year, moving to codify unrestricted abortion on demand until birth in their state laws should Roe v. Wade be overturned. Rhode Island is among these latter states with its “Reproductive Healthcare Act.” (Read more from “Ultrasound photo brings wrath of abortion-supporters” HERE)

A recent analysis from Politico specifically stated that no 2020 Democratic presidential candidates have come out against “late-term” abortions and that most of the candidates support no restrictions — which means they support allowing abortions all the way up until the moment of birth — even though they may try to avoid the issue by being too vague. . .
Here’s where all the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates stand on the issue of abortion:
Health care decisions should be in the hands of women and their families. Period. https://t.co/w1o0Z1CW5K
Republicans in AL, FL, GA, and OH are ushering in laws that clearly violate Roe v Wade and they should be declared unconstitutional. Roe v Wade is settled law and should not be overturned. This choice should remain between a woman and her doctor.
Bill de Blasio: De Blasio slammed the Alabama pro-life bill as “vile and illegal.” De Blasio explicitly signaled support for late-term abortions earlier this year when he said that he “applaud[ed]” New York’s new law that effectively allows abortion up until the moment of birth.
46 years after #RoevWade, misogynistic forces at every level of government continue an oppressive attack on a woman’s right to choose. I applaud the Governor and all of our leaders in the Senate and Assembly for reminding our country that New York will always stand with women. https://t.co/k41GWzZRlN
Cory Booker: Booker said at a town hall: “I support the law of the land as it stands right now, which is Roe v. Wade.”
Booker voted “NO” in the Senate this year on a bill that would’ve required doctors to provide medical care to infants born alive after an attempted abortion.
SHOCKING: Democrat Steve Bullock supports unlimited abortion, even until the moment a baby is born. Horrific.
"We can protect a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her body because for women, access to reproductive healthcare is an economic issue." #Julian2020

On Sunday, pro-life advocate and NFL star Benjamin Watson took actress and abortion activist Alyssa Milano to task over her claim that laws restricting abortion would be “catastrophic” for black women. Watson chalked up Milano’s comments as “ignorance, racism, or some combination of both,” and asked the actress to stop patronizing black people.
"Nobody wants to get an abortion," says Alyssa Milano. "We are all pro-life. But there are circumstances that we cannot avoid. … Just because there are women that don't believe in abortion, don't take away someone else's right." https://t.co/CXvCGwgpBrpic.twitter.com/1qiJVWHfKR
Watson was reacting to Milano’s appearance on CNN last week. Pro-life laws “will affect the communities of color more than anything,” the actress told CNN host Chris Cuomo. “I feel like any woman of privilege that lives in one of these states — if this goes through — they’re gonna be able to travel to a state to get a safe, uh, reproductive health care (abortion). But for the women of color, for the women that are marginalized, for the women that are low-income communities, for the women that are most at-risk, these bill will be catastrophic.” . . .
“[For Alyssa Milano] to claim that giving MORE children of color the right to be born will negatively affect ‘women of color’ reveals IGNORANCE, RACISM or some combination of both,” Watson blasted.
.@Alyssa_Milano to claim that giving MORE children of color the right to be born will negatively affect “women of color” reveals IGNORANCE, RACISM or some combination of both. Our children and families are capable of greatness and lies like this harm our future. Dont patronize us https://t.co/ZSHedXRv1C
Though Milano and others in the pro-abortion crowd are disingenuously framing recently pro-life laws as racist, abortion bans in Georgia and Alabama would save the lives of black babies more than any other demographic. And, of course, the laws have an exception for the life of the mother. So the logic that the laws are racist is flawed, to say the least. Pennsylvania Democrat Rep. Brian Sims sent out a fundraising email in which he repeated how “angry” he is and doubled down on his attacks against pro-life protesters praying outside of Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.
In a fundraising email letter, published by New York Post reporter Salena Zito, Sims urged people to contribute to Planned Parenthood. He apologized to abortion advocates because his “aggressive” and “inappropriate” behavior toward the pro-life protesters created a “distraction” from support for the abortion vendor.
.@BrianSimsPA is sorry not sorry. What he really is, is angry. REALLY ANGRY. Check out his fundraising email he sent out. Wonder if @RepTurzai will censure this guy? pic.twitter.com/jMjW68FnVn
Meanwhile, the lawmaker, who identifies himself as an LGBTQ activist and the first openly gay lawmaker in Pennsylvania, had no real apology for pro-life supporters for berating, bullying, and threatening to dox them. Instead, he doubled down on his rebukes of their prayerful protests outside of Planned Parenthood clinics.
“I’m angry that pro-life protesters use white privilege and racism to attack people of color in my district and across the nation, for seeking critical health care,” he wrote, continuing:
I’m angry that despite abortion being legal everywhere, anti-choice zealots are causing panic, anger, confusion, and rage for so many women. I’m angry that little by little what amount of abortion and reproductive care that we have will crumble to Republican legislatures and legislation. I’m angry that women can’t access the care they need and deserve.
Speaker Turzai, I’m the father of the two girls that Brian Sims tried to dox. I applaud your statement, but I remain disappointed that the legislature has not taken action against Mr Sims. His fundraising email shows he has absolutely no remorse.
Far-left Hollywood actor and recent political cartoonist Jim Carrey posted a grotesque, but ultimately accurate depiction of abortion in an attempt to criticize Alabama Governor Kay Ivey after she signed legislation which bans abortion, even in the cases of incest and rape. In doing so Carrey’s cartoon gave a glimpse of what actually happens during an abortion – a human life with full potential is killed, and in many cases literally vacuumed out of the womb without regard. . .
I think If you’re going to terminate a pregnancy, it should be done sometime before the fetus becomes Governor of Alabama. pic.twitter.com/6QgsY2rMz7
Since then, social media has been inundated with thousands, if not millions, of posts with inaccurate information such as the idea that human life is not killed during an abortion. However, Carrey’s cartoon shows quite the opposite of those sorts of fallacies.
In fact, what is being shown in Carrey’s cartoon of Gov. Ivery resembles an “aspiration abortion” where the baby inside the women is more or less suctioned out with an extremely high volume vacuum.
As www.abortionprocedures.com notes, “A suction, or aspiration, D&C abortion is performed in-clinic. Prior to the abortion, the woman should receive an exam that includes an ultrasound in order to confirm that she is pregnant and diagnose any complicating factors, such as a tubal, or ectopic, pregnancy. An abortionist uses metal rods or medication to dilate the woman’s cervix and gain access to the uterus, where the baby resides. The abortionist then inserts a suction catheter to vacuum the child from the womb. The suction machine has a force approximately 10 to 20 times the force of a household vacuum cleaner. The procedure is completed as the abortionist uses a sharp metal device called a curette to empty the remains of the child from the mother’s uterus.” . . .
As for Carrey’s glib and crude remarks about the cartoon itself as well as Gov. Ivey, the actor is unwittingly showing that the baby inside the mother’s womb is indeed life who has a future ahead with untold potential at all stages of pregnancy. Leaders of the Congressional Progressive Caucus are demanding that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee abandon its support of the five remaining pro-life Democrats in Congress and allow abortion advocates to compete for their seats.
Newsweek reports that the CPC’s co-chair, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), has now said, in no uncertain terms, that Democrats who do not support the practice of ending unborn life in the womb are no longer welcome in the party, and that they should be primaried out of office by more reliable Democrats.
“I think we should allow for strong primary challenges, so that people can really put their Democratic chops on the line, if you will, and let the Democratic voters decide who they want,” Jayapal told a press conference. “You can’t say you’re a Democrat if you’re against immigrants, if you’re against abortion, if you’re against gay marriage and LGBTQ rights. I’m not sure what it means to be a Democrat if all of those things are true.” . . .
“I understand that the DCCC is funded by—we are a membership organization—it’s funded by our members. And I understand that the DCCC is often going to try to protect the incumbent,” Jayapal concluded. “But I do think we have to look at all of these issues and think about what it means to be a Democrat.”
Justice Democrats, the group that championed far-left progressives like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Coretz (D-NY) in the last election cycle and is now challenging the DCCC and DNC for cutting openly progressive campaign workers out of official directories, agreed that pro-lifers now have no place in the Democratic party and that they intend to fight for their exclusion.
