Equality-Preaching Scientologist Elisabeth Moss Called Hypocrite After Golden Globes Speech

Twitter users raged over actress Elisabeth Moss’ speech at the Golden Globes and called her a hypocrite for urging gender equality as a Scientologist.

Moss, who won the Golden Globe award for best actress for her role in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” paraphrased a quote from Margaret Atwood’s book of the same name during her acceptance speech, praising women “who were brave enough to speak out against intolerance and injustice,” according to Fox News.

Twitter users had none of it, however, and published a barrage of posts calling Moss out as a hypocrite in light of her support for and membership in the Church of Scientology, which actively protects members accused of sexual assault or harassment.

“We no longer live in the blank white spaces at the edge of print. We no longer live in the gaps between the stories. We are the story in print, and we are writing the story ourselves,” Moss said, paraphrasing Atwood’s writing.

The Church of Scientology most recently garnered criticism for allegedly protecting actor Danny Masterson, star of “That 70s Show” and “The Ranch,” from several allegations of sexual assault.

Moss normally does not speak about her involvement in the Church of Scientology or about its practices, but recently defended the Church in response to a fan’s question on Instagram, denying that it silences members from seeking outside help like law enforcement and media.

“Question though, does it make you think twice about Scientology? Gilead (the fictional country in the show) and Scientology both believe that all outside sources (aka news) are wrong and evil … it’s just very interesting,” the fan asked, according to Page Six.

“That’s actually not true at all about Scientology. Religious freedom and tolerance and understanding the truth and equal rights for every race, religion and creed are extremely important to me. The most important things to me probably. And so Gilead and ‘THT’ hit me on a very personal level,” Moss responded.

Chris Shelton, a former member of the Church of Scientology and of Sea Org — a legally nonexistent fraternal order of the most dedicated Scientologists — told Fox News that Moss’ portrayal of the Church as tolerant is patently false and that coverups for members accused of sexual assault are par for the course.

“The church works to protect the church first,” Shelton told Fox. “(The Church of Scientology) considers anyone outside the church to be a ‘wog,’ which is a defamatory word describing non-members … It creates an ‘us versus them’ mentality (and tells) members that ‘wogs’ at law enforcement won’t protect them.”

Actress Leah Remini, also a former Scientologist, has also stirred rampant criticism against the religion with her Emmy Award-winning docu-series “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath,” which documents the church’s abusive practices and its harassment of former members. Matt Lauer to Sandra Bullock in 2009 Interview: ‘I Have Seen You Naked’

Former “Today” show co-anchor Matt Lauer joked repeatedly about seeing Sandra Bullock naked in a newly resurfaced 2009 interview.

Bullock appeared on the “Today” show to promote her film “The Proposal,” and Lauer does not waste any time addressing the star’s nude scene.

“The major thing that’s changed since I’ve seen you last: I have seen you naked,” Lauer told Bullock.

Bullock laughed and shot back, “And I’m so sorry about that. Were you able to sleep afterwards?”

Lauer, who was all smiles, replied that the nude image of Bullock was now his computer’s screensaver. (Read more from “Matt Lauer to Sandra Bullock in 2009 Interview: ‘I Have Seen You Naked'” HERE)

Watch: Famous Actress and Activist Says She Was ‘Severely Shaken’ After Realizing Her Left-Wing ‘Comrades Were Naked Bigots’

Actress and comedian Roseanne Barr, who once ran for president as a Green Party candidate, described her ideological shift after discovering that those she used to consider left-wing colleagues were “naked bigots.”

Speaking at a conference in Jerusalem Monday on how to combat efforts to boycott Israel, Barr said, “Everything I’d ever believed about the left was severely shaken, and the scales began to fall from my eyes in many ways.”

“I had to admit that many of those I considered comrades were naked bigots who had absolutely no interest in peace between Israel and Palestinians Arabs at all as I did,” said Barr, who has become an outspoken advocate of Israel on social media.

“It was shocking to realize that what I considered criticism of Israel many, many times gave way to the garden variety anti-Semitism that I’d heard all of my life, which is basically the code-word ‘Rothschild’” Barr said, referring to the well-known banking family of Jewish origin often used in anti-Semitic memes . . .

She described American universities as “BDS factories” that are “anti-truth,” and blasted the common occurrence on U.S. campuses where pro-Palestinian activists try to shout down and silence speakers whose opinions they don’t like. Patricia Heaton, who starred on the classic CBS series “Everybody Loves Raymond” and currently stars in ABC’s “The Middle,” used her social media savvy to blast Planned Parenthood — and the liberal media — after a video released Tuesday that shows a top executive with the organization engaging in the sale of aborted baby body parts.

The video showed Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood Federation senior director of medical services, bragging about how she can abort babies with enough precision to be able to sell their body parts afterward.

Actress Loves Church for ‘Their Focus on Having Personal Relationship With Jesus’

vanessa-hudgens“High School Musical” star Vanessa Hudgens recently shared that she loves attending Australian Megachurch Hillsong because it strongly encourages congregants to have their “own personal relationship with Jesus.”

Although she was raised a Catholic and adhered to atheism for many years, the 26 year old actress recently embraced Christianity, in part due to the influence of her boyfriend, 23 year old Austin Butler, who also attends Hillsong.

“It feels like Arcade Fire – it’s epic like that,” Hudgens told the Times regarding the church’s award-winning worship band Hillsong United. “They really focus on you having your own personal relationship with Jesus, which is wonderful.”

Hillsong Church was founded in 1983 by Pastors Brian and Bobbie Houston and is known for its relaxed, modern atmosphere and extensive mission program. Hillsong’s website states that it is “a Church about a God, who is all about people,” and their “singular, all-consuming passion is to build God’s Church and Kingdom.”

Over 100,000 worshipers attend Hillsong’s services held every weekend at its twelve campuses throughout the country, including New York and Los Angeles. In Australia, the megachurch has six campuses and twice as many extension services. (Read more from “Actress Loves Church for ‘Their Focus on Having Personal Relationship With Jesus'” HERE)
