Documents: Tylenol Maker Privately Acknowledged Growing Evidence of Autism Risk

The pharmaceutical giant behind Tylenol privately acknowledged as early as 2018 that mounting scientific evidence pointed to a potential link between the drug’s use during pregnancy and the development of neurodevelopmental disorders like autism in children, according to internal documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“The weight of the evidence is starting to feel heavy to me,” wrote Rachel Weinstein, then U.S. Director of Epidemiology for Janssen, the pharmaceutical division of Johnson & Johnson, in a 2018 email regarding prenatal exposure to acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol.

Although Johnson & Johnson marketed Tylenol at the time, its consumer health division was spun off in 2023 into a separate publicly traded company, Kenvue, which now owns all rights and liabilities associated with the product. Still, internal communications from J&J dating back over a decade suggest that company officials had long tracked concerns about the drug’s safety during pregnancy—well before public scrutiny intensified in recent years.

As far back as 2008, company officials were fielding inquiries from both physicians and consumers about a potential link between Tylenol and autism. “Not much choice but to consider this a safety signal that needs to be evaluated,” wrote Andre Mann, then a lead for Johnson & Johnson’s Office of Consumer Medical Safety, in response to a physician’s letter.

In 2012, Leslie Shur, head of the J&J division responsible for monitoring post-market drug safety, was alerted to similar concerns from a parent. One internal message noted the issue “in case this goes to press,” indicating an awareness of the potential for public fallout.

By 2014, references to then-CEO Alex Gorski in internal correspondence suggest the issue had reached the highest levels of corporate leadership.

A 2018 internal presentation labeled “privileged and confidential” further acknowledged that studies had found a “somewhat consistent” association between prenatal acetaminophen exposure and neurodevelopmental disorders. It also noted that large-scale meta-analyses—studies that combine data from multiple scientific papers—had reported similar associations, even as the company pointed to methodological concerns such as confounding variables and subjectivity in the assessment of autism-related traits.

Despite these internal discussions, both Johnson & Johnson and Kenvue have publicly denied any causal link between Tylenol use during pregnancy and autism. In a statement to the DCNF, Kenvue spokesperson Melissa Witt said, “We have continuously evaluated the science and continue to believe there is no causal link between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and autism.”

Huge Proportion of Children Pursuing Gender Transitions Are Actually Autistic, Experts Believe

Children with autism make up an outsized proportion of the transgender-identified population, and autism spectrum traits make them particularly vulnerable to thought patterns that can lead youth to pursue gender transitions, according to research and medical professionals.

Transgender individuals are about three to six times more likely to be autistic than non-transgender people, research shows; the connection between transgenderism and autism has been a subject of interest for researchers since at least 2010, and the Gender Development Identity Service at Tavistock, the world’s largest pediatric gender clinic, came under fire in recent years over allegations that as many as 97.5% of its gender patients had autism. Dr. Susan Bradley, a Canadian psychiatrist and pioneer in treating gender dysphoria, told the DCNF that she now believes most pediatric gender patients are actually on the autism spectrum and are being exploited by medical professionals.

“When we were seeing these kids from a very young age, we had kids who would come into the clinic, a little girl who thinks she’s a boy or vice versa. It wasn’t uncommon to find that one of them thought they were a dog or a cat or something else,” said Bradley, who chaired the DSM-IV Subcommittee on Gender Disorders.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is the official manual of the American Psychiatric Association, which is used for classifying and diagnosing mental disorders; Bradley led eight other doctors in establishing those guidelines in its 1994 edition.

Bradley began treating children with gender dysphoria around 1975, and over the years she observed that many of the patients had the traits of high-functioning autism, she told the DCNF. People with autism tend to focus very intensely on their subjects of interest and have great difficulty letting go of something once they believe it’s true, both of which make autistic adolescents particularly susceptible to issues with their gender identity and body image, she said. WATCH: Valedictorian With Nonverbal Autism Calls on Classmates to Serve Others

A non-speaking woman with autism, who graduated as a valedictorian from Rollins College in Florida, emphasized to her classmates during her commencement speech Sunday, “God gave you a voice. Use it.”

Twenty-four-year-old valedictorian Elizabeth Bonker stated in a Rollins College profile article that she could speak as a toddler, but suddenly, at 15 months old, her “words were inexplicably taken from” her. Now, 23 years later, she has graduated at the top of her class after learning to type, which has allowed her to communicate and learn.

The valedictorian issued her address through a “text-to-speech computer program,” Southern Living noted.

During her speech, she highlighted that she and her fellow graduates were celebrating their “shared achievements” and recounted her journey:

I know something about shared achievements because I am affected by a form of autism that doesn’t allow me to speak. My neuromotor issues also prevent me from tying my shoes or buttoning a shirt without assistance. I have typed this speech with one finger with a communication partner holding a keyboard. I am one of the lucky few non-speaking autistics who have been taught to type. That one critical intervention unlocked my mind from its silent cage, enabling me to communicate and to be educated like my hero Helen Keller.

This State Has a Much Higher Autism Rate Compared to Others, According to CDC

New Jersey has seen an increased rate of autism in preschool-age children over the past four years compared to children in other states, according to a study published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Thursday.

The percentage of four-year-olds in New Jersey with autism spectrum disorder increased by 40 percent between 2010 and 2014, the report said. The study concluded that New Jersey had the highest percentage of children with the developmental disability, which causes significant social, communication and behavioral challenges.

The Early Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network, which has analyzed rates of autism diagnoses for 19 years, partnered with researchers at Rutgers University to conduct a seven-state analysis of the rates of autism spectrum disorders in children across Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Utah, and Wisconsin.

The percentage of 4-year-old children with autism spectrum disorders in New Jersey increased dramatically between 2010 and 2014. 19.7 per 1,000 children in 2010 had a form of the disability compared to 28.4 per 1,000 in 2014, the study said.

New Jersey saw the highest prevalence of African American and Hispanic children with the disorder. In a pool of 4-year-old children, 29.4 per 1,000 white children were on the autism spectrum in New Jersey in 2014, compared to 33.1 per 1,000 African American children and 28.2 per 1,000 Hispanic children, the study concluded. New Jersey boys were also more likely to be diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders than girls. (Read more from “This State Has a Much Higher Autism Rate Compared to Others, According to CDC” HERE)

Whistleblower Teacher Says 17 Students Are Changing Genders, Some Were ‘Tricked’

Seventeen students at a British school are changing their genders and most of them who are undergoing the process are autistic, according to a teacher there, the Daily Mail reported. . .

The teacher, a 20-year veteran who asked to not be identified for fear of losing her job, told the news outlet she spoke out to help protect students. She said she believes schools and some politicians are peddling a politically-correct “fallacy” driven by “ a powerful transgender lobby.” . . .

She said many of the children believe they are the wrong sex because it helps them cope with problems caused by autism. Only a few of them have gender dysphoria a medical term used to describe someone who believes they were born “in the wrong body.”

Earlier in the year, the Daily Mail reported that one-third of children referred to the National Health Service in England had ‘moderate to severe autistic traits’. In all, “150 autistic teenagers were given puberty blocker drugs which stop the body maturing.” . . .

Regarding the student who is set to undergo a mastectomy, Carol said the child was diagnosed as autistic at age 14 and “certainly was not transgender. She had other complicated mental health problems. It is a tragedy her claim was accepted so readily. Now she is going to mutilate her body.” (Read more from “Whistleblower Teacher Says 17 Students Are Changing Genders, Some Were ‘Tricked’” HERE)

Supermarket Employee’s Kindness Toward Autistic Customer Leads to $110k Fund for College

By The Blaze. What began as a gesture of kindness ended up raising more than $110,000 in college tuition for a supermarket worker who helped a young, autistic customer.

It happened when Jordan Taylor, 20, was stocking the shelves of a cooler at Rouse’s Market in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, last week.

Jack Ryan Edwards, 17, who has autism, was shopping with his father in the store and began watching Taylor do his job. Taylor noticed and offered to show Jack how it’s done.

Jack’s father videotaped the two stocking milk and juice for about a half-hour, according to published reports. Delaney Edwards Alwosaibi, Jack’s sister, later shared the video on Facebook.

“Talk about a stand-up young man!!!!” Alwosaibi wrote on Facebook. “We all know autism makes going out difficult, and sometimes grocery stores can be a challenge. This young man took the time to slow down and allow Jack Ryan to help for over 30 minutes, guiding him as he finished his task.” (Read more from “Supermarket Employee’s Kindness Toward Autistic Customer Leads to $110k Fund for College” HERE)

Viral Louisiana Supermarket Employee Who Let Autistic Customer Stock Shelves Gets $100g for College

By Fox News. Alwosaibi and everyone who saw the video were so impressed by what Taylor did, they decided to start a GoFundMe page Wednesday to help raise money to send him to college. Taylor told Alwosaibi he loves math and might want to be a teacher someday.

The campaign originally had a goal of $10,000, but after receiving an overwhelming amount of donations, the goal was increased to $100,000, which it had reached as of Friday afternoon.

“He could have ignored him. He could have made an excuse and said he couldn’t allow him to help. Instead, he let him have his moment and in turn gave my family a moment we will never forget,” Alwosaibi wrote.

“It might seem like nothing to others, but as you can hear my dad say in the video, [‘I’m watching a miracle in action’].” (Read more from “Viral Louisiana Supermarket Employee Who Let Autistic Customer Stock Shelves Gets $100g for College” HERE)

Autism Disorder Increases in U.S. Children

U.S. autism prevalence has grown, according to a federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report, with about 1.7 percent of 8-year-olds affected in 11 states.

The study, based on 2014 research, again identifies New Jersey with the highest incidence. One in 34 children in that state, or 3 percent, fall on what’s called the autism spectrum, which encompasses a range of social, behavioral and learning disorders ranging from the barely noticeable to the profoundly debilitating.

Nationally, the prevalence has increased 150 percent since 2000, according to the study, which called autism “an urgent public-health concern.” . . .

Researchers aren’t sure what causes autism, although they suspect environmental risks or triggers. It has no cure. They caution that more children being diagnosed doesn’t necessarily mean that autism is becoming more common.

New Jersey — a wealthy, educated state with ready access to world-class health care in Philadelphia and New York City — has “better access to higher-quality information that lets us be more complete” in screening, Walter Zahorodny, a New Jersey Medical School professor and director of the New Jersey Autism Study, said in a conference call about the findings. Disgusting Use of Household Bleach for Children

Desperate to “cure” them of autism, some parents in the United Kingdom have started force-feeding their children bleach and turpentine. The treatment, called the Miracle or Master Mineral Solution (MMS) by advocates, is being attempted on children as young as 2 years old. MMS is made by blending a potent mixture of harsh chemicals that, combined, cook up industrial-strength bleach.

The bleach, easily purchased online, is either fed or inserted into the child through an enema. One parent who attempted the treatment told the Mirror – whose reporters investigated a Facebook group promoting the practice – that her 2-year-old child “cried really hard” when he was given his first enemas, but that things are getting “better and better.” Other misguided parents claim that behaviors associated with autism, such as rocking and chewing, decrease after the treatment is administered.

However, these perceived improvements in the child’s psychology are likely reactions of fear after experiencing the brutal treatment, experts told the Mirror. Drinking bleach can cause an intense burning sensation, chemical corrosion of the skin, and many other graphic and painful symptoms. Repeated consumption of such a harsh chemical substance can result in death.

The Mirror reports that posters to the closed Facebook group believe autism is caused by pathogens and parasites; the bleach is rumored to kill the parasites and therefore “cure” the child. These claims, however, have no scientific backing. Autism is not a result of parasites or pathogens at all – and this grim misunderstanding of autism is risking children’s lives. ‘It’s Me or the Baby’: Man Chooses Son With Down Syndrome After Wife After She Abandons the Baby

Photo Credit: KTLABy Tracy Bloom. A New Zealand father whose wife abandoned their infant son because he was born with Down syndrome has decided to raise the child as a single dad, according to a report and a fundraising page.

Leo Forrest was born in Armenia on Jan. 21, 2015, much to the delight of his father, Samuel Forrest. He stated that regardless of the genetic condition, he considered his son to be “perfect.”

“They took me in (to) see him and I looked at this guy and I said, ‘he’s beautiful — he’s perfect and I’m absolutely keeping him,’” he said upon seeing his child for the first time, according to Boston television station WCVB.

His wife, however, had “refused to even look at or touch the newborn,” a GoFundMe fundraising page set up to support Forrest and his baby stated. The Armenian woman was afraid “of getting attached in a society where defects are not accepted, often bringing shame on the family involved,” according to the page.

A short time after Leo’s birth, the mother and her family abandoned the baby. What’s more, they told him he would be no longer welcome in their home if he decided to keep the baby. (Read more about the man choosing his son with Down Syndrome HERE)

Head of Tampa Down Syndrome Charity Embezzled $100,000 For Personal Use

By Mike Brassfield. Every October for 10 years, the Down Syndrome Network of Tampa Bay held a “Buddy Walk,” a fundraiser in a local park featuring a mile-long walk, games, clowns, giveaways, food and raffles. It raised tens of thousands of dollars — purportedly to fund programs for children with Down syndrome.

But last October, the Buddy Walk was canceled.

“We have had a problem with our nonprofit status,” the charity’s website announced. “This event is near and dear to our hearts, but is not possible this year.”

The unspoken reason: The charity’s founder and president was being investigated by police and was facing hard questions from some of the group’s members.

On Friday, she was arrested on charges that she embezzled more than $100,000 in charitable donations for her own use. Shirley Lawyer, 53, of Largo was charged with grand theft and was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. (Read more from this story HERE)
