Bill de Blasio Wondered if Marrying a Self-Identified Lesbian Meant There Was a ‘Time Bomb Ticking’ in His Marriage

Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife, Chirlane McCray, announced on Wednesday that they are separating after nearly 30 years of marriage.

In an interview with the New York Times, the couple cited de Blasio’s ill-fated 2020 presidential campaign and his seven-year tenure as mayor for putting a strain on the relationship.

And de Blasio noted that he had some initial doubts about the pairing — given that McCray had once publicly identified herself as a lesbian.

“For the guy who took the chance on a woman who was an out lesbian and wrote an article called ‘I Am a Lesbian,'” de Blasio told The Times, “there was a part of me that would at times say, ‘Hmmm, is this like a time bomb ticking? Is this something that you’re going to regret later on?’ So I always lived with that stuff.”

McCray wrote that article for ESSENCE Magazine in 1979, over a decade before she met de Blasio when they both worked for former Mayor David Dinkins. (Read more from “Bill de Blasio Wondered if Marrying a Self-Identified Lesbian Meant There Was a ‘Time Bomb Ticking’ in His Marriage” HERE)

Good Riddance to New York City’s Worst Mayor Ever – Bill de Blasio (VIDEO)

In his novel “Anna Karenina,” Tolstoy writes that “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”

Something similar can be said about New York City mayors: Successful ones share policies and leadership traits, while the failed ones chart individual paths of doom. . .

All of which brings us to Bill de Blasio. He is a failure, too, but on such a large scale that he belongs in a category of one. Mayor Putz, also known as the Worst Mayor Ever, is unique in all the wrong ways. . .

A corrupt mayor would be trouble enough, but de Blasio’s shortcomings didn’t stop with his dicey schemes with donors and unions. He also is glaringly incompetent, which, paired with the dirty deals, put the city behind the 8 ball for much of the last eight years.

To top it off, Mayor Putz is spectacularly lazy, working half-days from Gracie Mansion or a coffee shop in Brooklyn, where he liked to loiter after police chauffeured him to a gym. As time wore on, he failed to show up at City Hall more often than not — even before the pandemic struck. Being mayor was never a part-time gig until de Blasio got it. NYC Mayor Calls for ‘Full Accounting’ of Cuomo’s Alleged Nursing Home Death Cover-Up

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday called for a “full accounting” of whether Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration withheld information about deaths from the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus in nursing homes across the state.

The alleged coverup of New York’s nursing home deaths was first reported by the New York Post. In an audio recording obtained by the Post, Melissa DeRosa, Cuomo’s chief of staff, told a small group of Democratic lawmakers that the governor’s office “basically froze” when they were asked by the U.S. Department of Justice to turn in the data, because they worried that then-President Donald Trump would use the information as a “giant political football” against them.

“[President Trump] starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes,” DeRosa said during the private call, according to the NY Post. “He starts going after [New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer.”

De Blasio, who has frequently been at odds with Cuomo over the handling of the CCP virus pandemic, said the Post’s report is “really disturbing” and “very troubling.”

“It’s very troubling. We’ve got to know more. We now need a full accounting of what happened,” de Blasio said on WNYC’s “The Brian Lehrer show.” (Read more from “NYC Mayor Calls for ‘Full Accounting’ of Cuomo’s Alleged Nursing Home Death Cover-Up” HERE)

WATCH: The Best Six Second Political Ad… Ever

It’s not every day that politicians release six-second ads. And it’s not every day that people on both sides of the aisle agree with messaging. But that’s what happened with Rep. Max Rose’s (D-NY) re-election ad.

“Bill de Blasio is the worst mayor in the history of New York City,” Rose said. “That’s the whole ad.”

Politicos on both sides of the aisle were in agreement: this was brilliant messaging that most New Yorkers can and do agree with, especially in light of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic.

Theodore Roosevelt Statue to Be Removed by De Blasio

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio says he supports the calls by the American Museum of Natural History to remove a “problematic statue” of Theodore Roosevelt that many say is a symbol of oppression and racial discrimination.

The statue, officially named Equestrian Statue of Theodore Roosevelt, was unveiled 80 years ago, and sits at the entrance of the museum. . .

It depicts the former New York governor and the 26th U.S. president on horseback with an unnamed Native American and a man of African descent on foot on either side of the horse.

“The American Museum of Natural History has asked to remove the Theodore Roosevelt statue because it explicitly depicts Black and Indigenous people as subjugated and racially inferior,” de Blasio said in a written statement obtained by NPR. De Blasio Booed off Stage, Protesters Turn Their Backs at George Floyd Rally; NYPD ‘Is Losing the City of New York’

By New York Post. Mayor Bill de Blasio was shouted down with boos and shouts of “F— you, de Blasio” when he tried to take the podium at a George Floyd protest in Brooklyn on Thursday.

“F— the mayor’s curfew!” some shouted. “Turn your back! Turn your back!” others shouted. Many in the crowd did turn their backs.

“Shut the f— up!” protesters shouted.

The heckling was so intense, the mayor kept his remarks under five minutes, and then was no longer seen on the stage. . .

The crowd turning their backs on de Blasio comes after police have repeatedly turned their backs on the mayor at funerals for slain officers. (Read more from “De Blasio Booed off Stage, Protesters Turn Their Backs at George Floyd Rally” HERE)

Police Union Boss Says ‘NYPD Is Losing the City of New York,’ Begs Cuomo, Trump to Send Reinforcements

By Fox News. The head of a prominent New York City police union told “The Ingraham Angle” Tuesday that President Trump should consider sending federal personnel to prevent more rioting and looting in America’s biggest city.

“NYPD is losing the city of New York and we have no leadership in the city of New York right now, from City Hall to the brass of the NYPD,” New York Sergeants Benevolent Association President Ed Mullins told Laura Ingraham. “The men and women are being pelted with rocks, bricks, cars [are] lit on fire. And this is continuous. We have a curfew that’s been implemented tonight at eight o’clock and everyone is still out rioting in the streets in New York.”

“President Trump is watching it. I am asking the president to please, please immediately send federal personnel to New York City and monitor what is going on,” Mullins said. “If Governor Cuomo does not implement the National Guard immediately, then the federal government is going to have to step in.”

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced earlier Tuesday that an 8 p.m. curfew for the city will be extended through the end of the week following another night of looting, destruction and “vicious attacks on police officers.”

Mullins told Ingraham that the NYPD was “more than capable” of handling the unrest, but added that local leaders have held them back. (Read more from “Police Union Boss Says ‘NYPD Is Losing the City of New York,’ Begs Cuomo, Trump to Send Reinforcements” HERE)

WATCH: Cuomo Blasts NYC Mayor for Refusing National Guard’s Help

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) revealed Tuesday that New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) refused assistance from the state’s National Guard to thwart widespread looting as protests and riots rage over the death of George Floyd.

In his daily press briefing, Cuomo issued stinging criticism of De Blasio and the New York Police Department, saying Monday evening’s failed attempt to quell violence unrest was “inexcusable.” . . .

The governor explained that he offered cities around the state, including the Big Apple, help from the National Guard to stop looting, but De Blasio rejected the offer.

“My option is to displace the mayor of New York City and bring in the National Guard as the governor in an emergency and basically you would have to take over the mayor’s job,” Cuomo then explained. “I don’t think we’re at the point,” he said, before adding the move would yield a “chaotic situation” that “wouldn’t make any sense.” (Read more from “WATCH: Cuomo Blasts NYC Mayor for Refusing National Guard’s Help” HERE)

De Blasio’s Daughter Arrested at Protest

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s daughter was arrested at a Manhattan protest on Saturday night, law enforcement sources told The Post on Sunday.

Chiara de Blasio, 25, was taken into custody around 10:30 p.m. after cops declared an unlawful assembly at 12th Street and Broadway in Lower Manhattan, the sources said.

She had allegedly been blocking traffic on Broadway and was arrested after refusing to move, the source said.

“That was a real hotspot, police cars were getting burned there, people were throwing and yelling, fighting with cops. There were thousands of people in that area at that time,” the source said.

Chiara gave a residence on East End Avenue as her address — otherwise known as Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s Upper East Side home. But she didn’t tell cops she was the mayor’s daughter. (Read more from “De Blasio’s Daughter Arrested at Protest” HERE)

De Blasio’s Flat-Earth ‘Science’ Behind Shutting Schools

New York City police are pulling their hair out dealing with the recidivism of all the dangerous criminals Mayor Bill de Blasio has released onto the streets. But de Blasio has suddenly discovered his concern for community danger. No – not the man he released who allegedly just robbed a victim at knifepoint, but a local Jewish day school that reopened its doors for classes.

Actually, the mayor is correct in asserting that he “can’t stress how dangerous this is for our young people.” COVID-19 is not dangerous at all for school-age children, at least not any more than the typical risk associated with driving to school or getting harmed by one of the sex offenders or robbers de Blasio released from Rikers Island.

Just how low is the risk to children? Yesterday, Avik Roy, president of the Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity, posted an age-stratified risk chart comparing the risk of dying of the flu to the risk of dying of COVID-19. Here is the data, based on information from the CDC:

I would argue that the risk of healthy people dying of COVID-19, as compared to the flu, is even more favorable than this data suggests, because nearly all of the deaths from COVID-19 are among those with several known conditions, whereas flu-related ICU admissions, with children placed on life support, as reported by doctors in New York City just this year, were observed among children who were not immunocompromised.

Nevertheless, if we use this data, it means children are nearly seven times more likely to die of the flu than of the coronavirus, yet de Blasio never thought of shutting the schools for the flu. In fact, in March, before this issue became political and common sense was still in order, de Blasio himself thought shutting the schools was a dumb idea. “What are these kids going to do?” de Blasio asked. “Do we really believe these kids will hole up in their rooms for a month?” Well, now he wants them to be holed up indefinitely for months.

What does he think will happen to the immune systems of healthy school-age children who are treated like bubble boys for months on end? Imagine what next year’s flu and cold season will bring.

Just how much more of a risk is the flu to children than COVID-19? A group of British pediatric doctors posted a chart online comparing COVID-19 deaths among children to flu deaths over the same period of time beginning in February. This is not even a comparison to flu deaths over a typical flu season (which would include December and January), but rather a comparison over the course of the epidemic, which includes April and May, which typically have few deaths from the flu. But still, at least in the United States, flu deaths have been much higher.

And guess which European country seems to have the lowest infection rate among kids? Sweden! Yes, the country that didn’t shut down schools for young children.

As for children transmitting the disease to adults, data from Iceland, the U.K., Australia, Switzerland, Canada, Netherlands, France, and Taiwan already show that children have little or no role in transmitting the virus to adults. They can get the virus from adults, but it is not a danger to them in any statistically meaningful numbers. Nonetheless, to play it safe, we can continue keeping children away from vulnerable adults. Doing so doesn’t require shutting down schools.

Now, nearly all the European countries have opened or plan to open schools. America is now dead last in terms of liberty and science. Think about that for a moment. Democrats in this country, such as New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, have become such flat-earthers that they are promoting policies of lingering lockdowns until there is a “widely available” vaccine. This has never been done in human history and is being rejected by nearly every other country.

Where are Republicans? Where is the veto threat of the president to deny bailout funding to states unless they end this nonsense? Instead, several Republicans in the Senate — Sens. Bill Cassidy, R-La.; Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss.; and Susan Collins, R-Maine — are pushing for an additional $500 billion rewarding the bad behavior of these states – to cover and incentivize the very carnage they created.

What has become clear is that the schools are the lynchpin to this entire charade. It is not science that is driving the shutdown of schools, but politics. Yet this political decision helps drive a self-fulfilling circuitous cycle of fear and panic – as if there is a threat to children. The minute schools open up, which will be the single most decisive factor in returning families to their daily lives, the lockdowns will fall by the wayside. Unfortunately for us, people like de Blasio have worked too hard and accumulated too much power through the lockdowns to let this go. Science be damned. WATCH: Leftist Mayor Threatened to Close Churches, but Is Giving Muslims Half a Million Meals for Ramadan

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday that the city will take steps to provide for its Muslim community amid the coronavirus by distributing “over half a million meals” during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The 500,000 Halal meals will be distributed at 32 Department of Education buildings and other community organizations during Ramadan, Bloomberg News reported. Ramadan began Thursday evening and will end the evening of May 23.

“One of Ramadan’s most noble callings is to feed the hungry,” de Blasio said Thursday during a press briefing. “To remember to be there for those in need. And that is now harder than ever now that people can’t go to their mosques.” . .

“We all wish that the celebrations of Easter and Passover could have been so different,” de Blasio said during the briefing.

However, many Christian and Jewish New Yorkers may find that statement unsettling, given the mayor’s harsh warning for the faithful from those religions at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in the city.
