Brent Bozell to GOP on Obamacare: “You Fund It, You Own It”

Photo Credit: CNSNewsAt the launch of a campaign to deny any further funding for implementation of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, dubbed “You Fund it, You Own It,” Brent Bozell, chairman of ForAmerica, a non-profit 501(c) organization, said Republicans in Congress will be held accountable for their upcoming budget votes.

“This is a ‘Come to Jesus’ moment for Republicans,” Bozell said at a press conference on Capitol Hill on Thursday co-hosted by the Tea Party Patriots. “They better get religion soon.”

“The voters out there are unequivocally fed up with inaction from those who promised action,” Bozell said.

“It’s a very simple proposition,” Bozell said. “If you fund it, you own it.”

Bozell and Jenny Beth Martin, national coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots, were joined by members of Congress and other grassroots groups at the event.

Brent Bozell Levels Broadside Against Entire Republican Establishment

For America Executive Director Brent Bozell lashed out at Republican leaders Saturday, accusing Speaker John Boehner and his leadership team of failing to push a conservative agenda.

“John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Kevin McCarthy, you said all the right things to conservatives to propel the GOP back to the majority and you to the top three leadership positions in the House. You, like virtually every single other Republican elected to Congress solemnly vowed to rid us of Obamacare, which you can do simply by refusing to fund it. Why haven’t you done so?” Bozell asked, charging that the House GOP leadership has “done nothing for over two years but give us excuses and more commitments that tomorrow, yes tomorrow, you’ll honor your promises.”

“Gentlemen, where promises are concerned, you are not what you promised to be,” he added. Indeed, virtually every major Republican on the national stage came under attack by Bozell, who is a favorite of conservative activists.

On Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, Bozell said, “You ran, and won as a fiscal conservative. You leave punishing Virginia with the largest tax increase in history. I wish we’d never elected you. Do you have national aspirations? Sorry my friend, forget them.”

Americans’ confidence in US media hits all-time low; perceive it as biased, dishonest

America’s confidence in TV news has hit a new low, but should anyone be surprised? According to Gallup’s analysis of their annual Confidence in Institutions survey, only 21 percent of Americans have “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in TV news. Newspapers don’t fare much better with only 25 percent of respondents expressing confidence. Gallup’s survey, which was conducted from June 7-10, was released last month and was predictably ignored by pretty much everyone except Newsbusters’ own Tim Graham who reported on its findings here. Confidence in TV news has seen a seven point drop since last year alone (down from a still-embarrassing 28 percent in 2011). And this survey was conducted before two major cable news networks botched their initial reports on the outcome of the Supreme Court’s ObamaCare decision on June 28.

So what could possibly account for this drop? The answer is simple: the networks refuse to Tell the Truth, and the American people are sick and tired of it. Even liberals (19 percent) and moderates (20 percent) have lost faith in TV news, although, not surprisingly, self-identified Democrats have the highest confidence at 34 percent compared to 17 percent for Republicans and 17 percent for Independents. This shouldn’t come as any shock given the media’s torrid love affair with Democrat superhero Barack Obama.

Whether it’s CBS claiming current tax rates will somehow “cost taxpayers,” or CNN scolding a Republican for being a “sore loser” for not embracing ObamaCare, or The New York Times once again blaming Bush on Obama’s behalf, the media have continued to show a complete contempt for the truth. And those are just a few examples from the past couple of weeks.
