Former Prominent BBC News Anchor Gets Suspended Sentenced for Indecent Images of Children on Phone

Former BBC news anchor Huw Edwards, once one of the most prominent media figures in Britain, was given a suspended prison sentence Monday for indecent images of children on his phone.

Edwards, 63, pleaded guilty in Westminster Magistrates’ Court in July to three counts of making indecent images of children, a charge related to photos sent to him on the WhatsApp messaging service by a convicted pedophile.

Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring sentenced Edwards to a six-month prison term suspended for two years.

“It is not an exaggeration to say your long-earned reputation is in tatters,” Goldspring said.

Edwards’ fall from grace over the past year has caused turmoil for the BBC after it was revealed the publicly funded broadcaster paid him about 200,000 pounds ($263,000) for five months of his salary after he had been arrested in November while on leave. UK Riots: Police Admit ‘Two Tier Policing’ for Muslims

A top police officer in Birmingham has seemingly admitted that there is a “two-tier” approach from law enforcement towards different ethnicities in Britain, undercutting denials from Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

Following the emergence of “Muslim people” mobs in England as apparent counter to what’s called “far right” riots, with reports stating some carrying weapons in the Bordesley Green area of Birmingham on Monday, the police appeared to admit they have different standards for different races while trying to explain their failure to prevent the anarchic scenes.

When pressed as to why there was such little police presence during the incident, West Midlands Police Superintendent Emlyn Richards said: “We have really strong business and community relations and because we were aware through intelligence that there was a potential protest because of misinformation we had the opportunity to meet with community leaders, business leaders, prior to that event to understand the style of policing we needed to deliver.

“We knew there was going to be a large amount of people out on that counterprotest, and we knew who the vast majority of those people were. We had conversations what that was likely to look like.”

British Lockdown Official Wanted to ‘Frighten the Pants’ off Nation and Asked When to ‘Deploy the New Variant,’ Leaked Messages Show

British Health Minister Matt Hancock wanted to “frighten the pants” off the nation to scare residents into compliance with a sweeping COVID lockdown regime, according to more than 100,000 leaked messages among senior officials in the United Kingdom.

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had vowed that citizens would be able to reunite with their loved ones during the Christmas season of 2020, leading to concerns among officials that the administration would receive backlash over continued lockdowns. Hancock, a fellow member of the Conservative Party, and Damon Poole, his media adviser, expressed frustration that complication with Brexit, the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union, was “taking the top line” in the news and distracting from the danger of the virus.

The officials agreed to declare a new strain of COVID called Alpha or Kent, according to a report from The Telegraph. Isabel Oakeshott, a journalist who assisted Hancock with writing his memoir about the response to the pandemic, had leaked the communications to the outlet.

“Rather than doing too much forward signaling, we can roll pitch with the new strain,” Poole suggested on December 13, 2020. “We frighten the pants [off] everyone with the new strain,” Hancock replied, leading Poole to concur that the move “will get proper [behavior] change.”

Hancock then asked when they should “deploy the new variant.” Poole said that “we need to be more cautious” to avoid implicating schools in subsequent lockdowns. UK Defence Secretary Warns ‘War Is Coming’ to Britain, Demands More Military Spending

UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has warned that “war is coming” to Britain, as he redoubled his demands that the government commit to more military spending.

Speaking ahead of the one-year anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces, Mr Wallace said the world is “definitely more dangerous, more unstable and more insecure” and therefore Rishi Sunak’s government must commit to increasing the defence budget of the nation.

In an interview with the Sun newspaper, Wallace warned: “Conflict is coming by the end of this decade… whether it is a cold war or hot, war is coming.”

“We just have to recognise that in order to deter you just have to be ready, you have to be equipped and you have to stand with your friends and your allies,” he said, adding that therefore “we need a greater proportion of the public spend on defence.”

Warning that the conflict in Ukraine could last for another year, Wallace continued: “We are not in for a period, we are in it until you defeat Russia and Ukrainians can go home. WWIII Watch: UK Set to Send Long Range Missiles to Ukraine

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has suggested that British long-range missiles, which the Ukrainians say they want to use to launch an offensive against occupied Crimea, could be sent to Ukraine as the war heats up one year on since the invasion. Meanwhile, Zelensky warns that Russia intends to invade EU-member-candidate Moldova next.

Following Rishi Sunak’s declaration that “nothing is off the table” on military aid to Ukraine, Whitehall is now actively considering sending long-range missiles to the war-torn country in addition to potential fighter jets. Speaking from the Lulworth army camp in Dorset on Wednesday, the prime minister said: “Probably the most crucial capability right now is main battle tanks, which we led on, but also those long-range missiles.

“In all the talking we’ve done and the planning for how we can have the sight of victory in the battlefield and make progress, it requires long-range missiles,” Sunak continued. “Currently the range is not there. That’s the conversation we’ve been having and again we hope Britain can lead.”

According a report from The Times of London, the two types of missiles being considered are the 150-mile range truck or ship-mounted Harpoon high-explosive anti-ship missiles and the deep penetration blast Storm Shadow [general purpose cruise missile] with a range of 350 miles. Accused Pedophile Pleaded Guilty to Grooming, Devised ‘Unbelievable’ Schemes to Meet Underaged Girls by Dressing as a Teen Girl, Using Fake Social Media Profiles, Enrolling in School

A British man devised elaborate and “unbelievable” schemes to meet underaged girls. The accused pedophile allegedly created multiple fake social media profiles, pretended to be a schoolgirl by dressing in uniform, and attempted to enroll in the minor’s school.

Anthony Lonsdale, 21, pleaded guilty to eight counts of grooming and possession of sexually explicit images of children this week in court. Lonsdale was sentenced to seven years in jail. Plus, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and five-year restraining order were enacted to prevent the accused pedophile from contacting the alleged victims.

The accused pedophile who was arrested last March went to great lengths to meet underaged girls, according to court documents.

When Lonsdale was 20 years old, he reportedly created multiple social media profiles on platforms including Snapchat, Instagram, and WhatsApp. He allegedly set up fake accounts as a teenage girl named “Tia.” Lonsdale would allegedly befriend underaged girls as Tia, then suggest that they should date a 12-year-old boy named “Sam.” . . .

“The sex offender also visited the Mansfield area dressed as a teenage girl to meet a 14-year-old girl in a park. A Christian Nation No More? Census Numbers Fuel Debate on Britain’s Identity, Christianity’s Future

Its king is the “defender of the faith” and the supreme governor of the Church of England. More than half of the church’s archbishops of the Church of England sit by right in the House of Lords. The national anthem is “God Save the King.”

The sun may never have set on the old British Empire, but the light of Christianity is dimming in modern Britain — and much of the rest of the Western world that was the Christian faith’s heartland for more than a millennium.

An analysis of the official 2021 census found that less than half the population of England and Wales identify as “Christian” for the first time in centuries. The news this week shocked the country and fueled a larger debate about the future of Europe’s bedrock faith.

In 2011, 33.3 million people in England and Wales told census takers that they were Christians. A decade later, the number dropped to 27.5 million — a 13.1 percentage point decrease from 59.3% to 46.2% of the population. Those saying they had “no religion” rose from 14.1 million, 25.2% of the population, to 22.2 million, 37.2% of the population. The share of Muslims grew from 4.9% in 2011 to 6.5% last year, and self-described Hindus rose slightly from 1.5% to 1.7% of the population. (Read more from “A Christian Nation No More? Ukraine War: Russia ‘Warning’ That ‘Britain Is Too Deep in This Conflict’

Russian ambassador to the UK Andrey Kelin has warned that Britain is drawing too close to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

“We perfectly know about participation of British specialists in training, preparation, and execution of plans against the Russian infrastructure and the Russian fleet in the Black Sea. We know that it has been done,” Kelin said in an interview with Sky News.

“It is dangerous … It can bring us to the line of I would say no return—return is always possible—but we should avoid escalation. And this is a warning actually that Britain is too deep in this conflict. It means the situation is becoming more and more dangerous.”

When asked to provide evidence to support his accusations against the UK, Kelin said that Moscow has handed over its proof to the British ambassador and that it will be made public “pretty soon.”

A drone attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet, which took place last weekend, reportedly ended up damaging three ships, including the flagship HMS Makarov. British ambassador to Moscow Deborah Bronnert was summoned by the Russian foreign ministry which claimed the involvement of UK forces. A group of concerned parents disrupted a performance of Drag Queen Story Hour in Britain on Tuesday, accusing the touring troupe of trying to “groom” young children.

The first instalment of a nation-wide Drag Queen Story Hour tour of nearly 70 performances across the UK was disrupted by a group of angered parent protesters at a library in Reading, England. The show was hosted by Sab Samuel, an autistic 27-year-old man, who performs in heavy drag as ‘Aida H Dee’.

According to its website, Drag Queen Story Hour UK says that it provides “fun and interactive kids shows with amazing and talented drag performers!”

“Drag Queen Story Hour UK wants to show the world that being different is not a bad thing, and by providing imaginative role models for children to look up to, we can change the world book by book!”

Confronting Samuel on Tuesday, one mother said: “You’re probably teaching kids that there’s 100 genders, there’s only two sexes, no man can be a woman. We’re here to protect children.”

Britain Bans a Chinese Tech Giant From Building Out 5G Technology

Britain will ban Huawei from deploying equipment designed to build out the country’s fifth generation mobile service, delivering a blow to the Chinese tech giant.

Britain Digital and Media Minister Oliver Dowden announced the decision Tuesday in the House of Commons, noting that the move will take effect in January. Unplugging from Huawei will likely delay the country’s 5G rollout by three years, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

The country will slowly transition away from the company’s 5G components over the next seven years, Dowden stated.

President Donald Trump has done battle with Huawei in recent months, imposing an export control in May that cuts the company off from semiconductors necessary to build out technology. Experts believe 5G will help lay the groundwork for the so-called Internet of Things, a form of technology tying together virtually all appliances to the internet.

All member countries of an alliance called the Five Eyes—Canada, New Zealand, United States, Britain, and Australia—have now sworn off Huawei technology, The Washington Post reported.
