How Many Americans Are ‘Very Likely’ to Buy Electric for Their Next Car?

Some 19% of Americans indicate that they are “extremely likely” or “very likely” to purchase an electric vehicle for their next car, even as multiple states attempt to transition toward 100% adoption of the vehicles for new car purchases within the next decade.

The plurality of respondents to a poll from the Associated Press and the National Opinion Research Center said they were “not too likely” or “not at all likely” to buy an electric vehicle, while another 22% indicated they were “somewhat likely” to buy electric and 12% said they “do not expect to purchase a vehicle.” Dominant reasons for hesitance toward electric cars were prohibitively high costs, a lack of charging stations, and personal preference for gas vehicles, as well as concerns with charging times and lack of confidence in current battery technology.

Those who were open to purchasing electric cars meanwhile cited savings on fuel, tax breaks, lessened climate impact, and reduced costs for vehicle maintenance. The poll was conducted between between Jan. 31-Feb. 15 and had 5,400 respondents. It had a 1.7% margin of error.

“While there is plenty of interest in purchasing an electric vehicle, the high upfront cost of owning one and concerns about the country’s charging infrastructure are barriers to more people driving them,” AP-NORC Center Deputy Director Jennifer Benz said in a statement. “Policies that alleviate these concerns will be a key component of building support.”

The concerns regarding electric vehicles could present obstacles to the multiple states which are attempting to encourage universal adoption of the nascent technology within the next several years. California Air Resources Board officials issued new rules last year requiring 35% of new vehicles to be zero-emission by 2026, a standard that will rise to a 68% benchmark by 2030 and a 100% benchmark by 2035. States such as Massachusetts, Washington, and Virginia have previously passed laws conforming their states to the standards. Alarm Sounded Over Scheme to Eliminate Parental Custody of Children

A commentary by Katrina Trinko, editor-in-chief of The Daily Signal, is warning of a California scheme that would, in essence, remove parental custody for children 12 and older.

It explains that a legislative plan, AB 665, concerning mental health care for lower-income people, would let a stranger give permission to children “as young as 12 years old to consent to being placed into state funded group homes without parental permission…”

The law wouldn’t even require that parents be informed of the situation.

“As long as a mental health professional signs off on it, the kids can go to such a group home – and it doesn’t matter what their parents think,” the report explained.

Erin Friday, a California mom of two teens, told the Daily Signal, “This bill gives a stranger, a school psychologist, power to decide whether a sixth or seventh grader comes home from school that day, and that’s terrifying. School Board Keeps Policy That Hides Students’ Gender Transitions From Parents Despite Pending Litigation

A California school board voted Thursday to keep a school policy which directs teachers to keep a student’s gender transition a secret, despite pending litigation over the resolution.

In a 3-2 vote, Chico Unified School Board decided to keep “Administrative Regulation 5145.3,” which requires educators to keep a student’s change in pronouns or name confidential unless the student gives written permission for their gender change to be shared. In January, Aurora Regino filed a lawsuit against the Chico Unified School District after a counselor allegedly helped her daughter secretly transition genders.

“I’m still in awe about what I saw last night and how the Board allowed people to heckle and bully parents who were speaking about the right to be involved in their own children’s lives,” Regino said in a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “This decision is devastating for parents not only here in our community but also across the country. The next step to fight back is legal action and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”

The Center for American Liberty filed the lawsuit on behalf of Regino after she discovered her 10-year-old daughter had begun to transition genders at school. A school counselor, whom Regino never met, had allegedly advised Regino’s daughter that she was a boy and convinced the girl to use he/him pronouns and a male name at school, the lawsuit stated. WATCH: California Reparations Hearing Descends Into Chaos as Activist Blares Out James Brown, Another Tells Absent Reparations Tsar to ‘Stay in Africa’ With Kamala Harris – And a Third Screams ‘We’re Not Asking for Money, It’s Ours!’

California’s reparations task force has descended into chaos as activists blasted music and aired wild accusations – a day after it was revealed they want $800 billion.

Among the first people to speak was Reggie Romain who blared James Brown’s I’m Black & I’m Proud through his phone and down the microphone.

Romain, as well as members of the audience, danced to the 1968 track and after cutting the song short promoted his social media channels before sitting down.

Later, a San Francisco-based activist at the podium described the US as a country ‘born in the name of evil’ and said: ‘Evil cannot give justice.’ She went on scream at the committee members: ‘We ask you for nothing. It’s ours!’

The second-day began amid controversy over the absence of senior committee member Rev. Amos Brown, who is in West Africa, as part of Kamala Harris’ official trip to the continent. On Thursday, one activist demanded that Brown ‘should stay in Africa.’

‘Unconstitutional’: Federal Judge Blocks Multiple California Gun Restrictions

A federal judge issued a temporary injunction blocking multiple California gun restrictions Monday, saying the laws violated the Constitution in light of a landmark Supreme Court case in June.

Federal District Judge Cormac J. Carney, a George W. Bush appointee, temporarily restricted portions of California’s Unsafe Handgun Act that mandated purchase restrictions on certain handguns, such as magazine safety requirements and ammunition micro-stamping, as they violate the Second Amendment. Carney blocked the restrictions following precedent set forth in the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen case, leaving Democratic California District Attorney Robert Bonta 14 days to request a stay or submit an appeal.

“Californians have the constitutional right to acquire and use state-of-the-art handguns to protect themselves,” Carney wrote in the ruling. “They should not be forced to settle for decade-old models of handguns to ensure that they remain safe inside or outside the home.”

The California gun roster, implemented in 2001, restricts handguns from being imported into California to be sold, lent, given, kept for sale, or offered unless the firearm had passed a multitude of tests and been listed in the roster, according to the law. Relic handguns and certain single-action revolvers were exempt from the rule.

“For decades, this ‘roster’ law has deprived law-abiding citizens of the right to choose a handgun appropriate for their individual needs,” Chuck Michel, head of the California Rifle & Pistol Association, said in a press release. What Is a ‘Womxn’? Woke Colleges Mangle Language in Absurd Display of Leftist Ideology

Some institutions of higher education are butchering the English language by using the word “womxn” in a preposterous display [of] left-wing ideology.

“At CSUSB we intentionally spell womxn with an X as an objection to the patriarchal idea that womxn are an extension to men and the inclusion of all womxn go beyond just cis-women,” California State University, San Bernardino noted in a post about “Womxn’s History Month.” . . .

“Join us to celebrate Womxn’s* History Month with a month-long series of events dedicated to empowering women and celebrating their accomplishments,” the school says, explaining that, “The spelling womxn is used to respect the dynamic and fluid nature of gender identity and expression and to be inclusive of all people who identify as women in today’s times.” (Read more from “What Is a ‘Womxn’? States Cut off Salmon Fishing Season Because of ‘Climate Disruption’

The National Marine Fisheries Service canceled the 2023 ocean salmon season in California and Oregon between March 10, 2023, and May 15, 2024.

A statement from California Department of Fish and Wildlife noted that there would be no “commercial or ocean salmon sport fishing off California until April 2024.” The statement cited data suggests near-record low numbers for California’s Chinook ocean salmon stocks in 2023 caused by “climate disruption.”

“The main factor in making their determination is salmon returns,” one department spokesperson told Fox Weather. “These fish are returning to their home rivers from birth three years ago, following their voyage out to the ocean. Three years ago, we were dealing with intense drought that dried up rivers as well as climate disruption.”

Powerful ‘Atmospheric River Event’ Set to Hit State, 16 Million Residents Under Flood Watch

An estimated 16 million people in California are under flood watch ahead of an incoming storm that could dump five to six inches of rain over central and northern parts of the state, including the San Francisco Bay Area.

The impending system is expected to carry with it an atmospheric river (a long, narrow band of moisture carrying warm air and water vapor from tropical climates) into the heart of the state, compounding the already-increased threat of flooding due to recent snowstorms, according to CNN.

“Our reservoirs are all full from storms earlier this year. With reservoirs full, we expect our creeks will rise more rapidly with most of the rain becoming runoff,” Marin County Fire Chief Jason Weber told the outlet.

Emergency response teams across the state were already busy after several severe snowstorms impacted communities across California throughout 2023. (Read more from “Powerful ‘Atmospheric River Event’ Set to Hit State, 16 Million Residents Under Flood Watch” HERE)

California’s Medical Misinformation Law Struck Down

So far, California has shown to be turning an even deeper corner in 2023. On January 1, several far-left laws went into effect.[…]Perhaps one of those most worrisome laws mentioned above included a law that punished physicians for so-called medical misinformation about COVID-19, which was blocked late last week.

According to a report from Reuters‘ Brendan Pierson:

Senior U.S. District Judge William Shubb in Sacramento ruled on Wednesday that Assembly Bill 2098, which was signed last October by California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, was too vague for doctors to know what kind of statements might put them at risk of being penalized.”COVID-19 is a quickly evolving area of science that in many aspects eludes consensus,” he wrote.

The preliminary order means that the law cannot be enforced while Shubb hears two lawsuits brought against the law shortly after its passage last year – one by a group of five doctors, and another by a doctor and two advocacy groups including Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s Children’s Health Defense, which has long promoted false information about standard childhood vaccines.

The law, known as Assembly Bill 2098, which was signed into law last October, required medical licensing boards in the state to take disciplinary action against physicians who were involved in so-called “dissemination or misinformation or disinformation” related to COVID-19.
