States Cut off Salmon Fishing Season Because of ‘Climate Disruption’

The National Marine Fisheries Service canceled the 2023 ocean salmon season in California and Oregon between March 10, 2023, and May 15, 2024.

A statement from California Department of Fish and Wildlife noted that there would be no “commercial or ocean salmon sport fishing off California until April 2024.” The statement cited data suggests near-record low numbers for California’s Chinook ocean salmon stocks in 2023 caused by “climate disruption.”

“The main factor in making their determination is salmon returns,” one department spokesperson told Fox Weather. “These fish are returning to their home rivers from birth three years ago, following their voyage out to the ocean. Three years ago, we were dealing with intense drought that dried up rivers as well as climate disruption.”

Powerful ‘Atmospheric River Event’ Set to Hit State, 16 Million Residents Under Flood Watch

An estimated 16 million people in California are under flood watch ahead of an incoming storm that could dump five to six inches of rain over central and northern parts of the state, including the San Francisco Bay Area.

The impending system is expected to carry with it an atmospheric river (a long, narrow band of moisture carrying warm air and water vapor from tropical climates) into the heart of the state, compounding the already-increased threat of flooding due to recent snowstorms, according to CNN.

“Our reservoirs are all full from storms earlier this year. With reservoirs full, we expect our creeks will rise more rapidly with most of the rain becoming runoff,” Marin County Fire Chief Jason Weber told the outlet.

Emergency response teams across the state were already busy after several severe snowstorms impacted communities across California throughout 2023. (Read more from “Powerful ‘Atmospheric River Event’ Set to Hit State, 16 Million Residents Under Flood Watch” HERE)

California’s Medical Misinformation Law Struck Down

So far, California has shown to be turning an even deeper corner in 2023. On January 1, several far-left laws went into effect.[…]Perhaps one of those most worrisome laws mentioned above included a law that punished physicians for so-called medical misinformation about COVID-19, which was blocked late last week.

According to a report from Reuters‘ Brendan Pierson:

Senior U.S. District Judge William Shubb in Sacramento ruled on Wednesday that Assembly Bill 2098, which was signed last October by California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, was too vague for doctors to know what kind of statements might put them at risk of being penalized.”COVID-19 is a quickly evolving area of science that in many aspects eludes consensus,” he wrote.

The preliminary order means that the law cannot be enforced while Shubb hears two lawsuits brought against the law shortly after its passage last year – one by a group of five doctors, and another by a doctor and two advocacy groups including Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s Children’s Health Defense, which has long promoted false information about standard childhood vaccines.

The law, known as Assembly Bill 2098, which was signed into law last October, required medical licensing boards in the state to take disciplinary action against physicians who were involved in so-called “dissemination or misinformation or disinformation” related to COVID-19. Group Founded by Gavin Newsom’s Wife Teaches Kids About Gender Roles With Images From Pornhub

The organization founded by Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s wife Jennifer created a film for middle school students that shows sexually explicit images from Pornhub in order to teach students about gender roles and stereotypes in society.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom is the founder of The Representation Project, a group which claims it is focused on fighting sexism and has distributed its curriculums and films to 11,2000 classrooms, 5,000 schools and 2.6 million students. The organization created a film for public schools and kids ages 15 and up that depict sexually explicit images of nude women from websites such as Pornhub, MassiveCams and BDSM.XXX in order to discuss the harms of such images on young boys.

The film “The Mask You Live In” is designed to help raise a “healthier generation of boys and young men” by discussing how society has constructed harmful gender stereotypes, the organization website states. The film features scenes from pornographic videos including “two dirty brunettes dominated in the stables” and “girl next door manipulated and sexually dominated by kinky couple” to demonstrate how pornographic material is distributed to boys and can negatively affect relationships and “sexual aggression.”

Other images in the film shown to students display tags on pornography websites like “orgasm,” “domination” and “face fuck,” according to Open the Books. The K-5 curriculum paired with “The Mask You Live In” says that beginning in elementary school, kids begin to “objectify and degrade women.”

In addition, middle school students are taught about gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation and biological sex using the “gender bread person,” according to “The Mask You Live In” curriculum. The “gender bread person” explains that gender isn’t binary and that while biological sex comes from genitalia, gender identity comes from the head. ‘Evil Spirits’: Pelosi Calls ‘Exorcists’ to Purge Own Home of Wickedness

Nancy Pelosi, who ran the people’s House, the U.S. House of Representatives, as speaker for multiple years before her party was removed from the majority in November, has sought spiritual help, apparently priests, for her California home “to exorcise … evil spirits,” according to a new report from the New York Post. . .

But she reported went outside her local parish for the help, as she remains in conflict with her chosen church, the Catholic church, over her denial of its teachings on life, and her repudiation of its pro-file stance. . .

The confirmation of the “exorcism” came from Pelosi’s daughter, Alexandra, who said in an interview with a New York Times writer that, “I think that weighed really heavy on her soul. I think she felt really guilty.”

She continued, “I think that really broke her. Over Thanksgiving, she had priests coming, trying to have an exorcism of the house and having prayer services.”

The local parish pastor, Father Arturo Albano of St. Vincent de Paul Church, said his staff was not involved. (Read more from “‘Evil Spirits’: Pelosi Calls ‘Exorcists’ to Purge Own Home of Wickedness” HERE)

Cali. Shooting Suspect Met Ex at Studio He Shot Up: Report

The ex-wife of the suspected gunman who killed 10 people and injured another 10 in a horror shooting at a California dance studio has provided telling insight into her ex-husband’s life as rumors swirl over the possible motive for his actions.

The woman, who spoke to CNN and asked not to be named, said the pair met at the same dance studio he shot up late Saturday night. Huu Can Tran filed for a divorce from her in 2005, which became final a year later. . .

Before opening fire at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park, Tran, a 72-year-old Chinese immigrant, was a regular, even providing “informal” lessons at the venue. It remains unclear if he had visited at all in recent years.

The pair met two decades ago at a dance where Tran introduced himself and offered to teach her for free. They married soon after. He wasn’t violent, she said, though he “was quick to anger.” (Read more from “Cali. Shooting Suspect Met Ex at Studio He Shot Up: Report” HERE)

What We Know About the Suspect in the Monterey Park Massacre; Man Who Wrestled Gun Away From Shooting Suspect Speaks Out

Brandon Tsay is being hailed as a hero for stopping the Monterey Park mass shooter at the Lai Lai Ballroom in Alhambra, California. He told ABC that the incident has left him “shook.”

“It was Chinese New Year’s. We were hosting a social dance party. I was in the lobby. It was late into the evening, most of our customers already left. I wasn’t paying attention to the front door — I was looking into the dance ballroom, the dance floor, and this is when I heard the sound of the front door quickly closing and instantly followed by the sound of metal object clinking together as if they were rubbing,” Tsay said. “That’s when I turned around and saw that there was an Asian man holding a gun.” . . .

The man was identified as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran, who later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, CNN had previously reported. Tsay said he didn’t recognize the shooter.

“He didn’t seem like he was here for any money, he wasn’t here to rob us,” Tsay said. “When he was looking around the room it seemed like he was looking for targets – people to harm.” . . .

“When I got the courage, I lunged at him with both my hands, grabbed the weapon and we had a struggle. We struggled into the lobby, trying to get this gun away from each other,” Tsay said. “He was hitting me across the face. Bashing the back of my head. I was trying to use my elbows to separate the gun away from him, create some distance.” (Read more from “What We Know About the Suspect in the Monterey Park Massacre; Man Who Wrestled Gun Away From Shooting Suspect Speaks Out” HERE)

Thirty Feet and Counting: California Town Buried in Snow

Since the start of the winter season on Nov. 2, Mammoth Lakes, California, has received 375 inches of snow. In just the past week, since Jan. 9, the town has been inundated with 119 inches of snow. That’s nearly 10 feet of snow burying the resort town. President Joe Biden has approved an emergency declaration for California due to the amount of rain and snow hitting the state all at once.

While Mammoth Lakes is used to winter weather, a local student, Colton Goetz, talked about how schools were affected this week by all this snow. Goetz said, “I do not normally miss school. But this time, we had three red days in a row,” meaning he missed three days of school in a row this week. He added that this “is the most we had in 30 years, which is pretty impressive.” (Read more from “Thirty Feet and Counting: California Town Buried in Snow” HERE)

Here Are States Where Residents Spend the Most on Rent

Two states that are among the world’s biggest tourist destinations are also the priciest for renters, a new study has found.

Hawaii and California top the list of states where renters spend the biggest chunk of their paychecks on housing, according to an analysis by Forbes Home.

The average monthly income of Hawaiians is $5,079, yet residents spend an average of $2,136 on rent. This means 42% of their income on average goes to rent. Most of the population is located in the capital of Honolulu.

California is second on the list at 28% of income going toward rent. This is based on a monthly income of $6,385, with the average rent being $1,818. While California has some extremely pricey homes for rent, it also has low-income housing spread across the state, and that brings down the average.

California and Hawaii are the first and 10th most visited states in America, according to Vivid Maps. (Read more from “Here Are States Where Residents Spend the Most on Rent” HERE)

California’s Reparations Task Force Chair: Blacks Are Owed $1M Each, Homeless Should Be First in Line

Black Californians should each receive $1 million and black people who are homeless should be first in line, according to the state’s Reparations Task Force chair.

Kamila Moore claimed during an interview with Al Sharpton that the group found the state’s past redlining housing practices affecting the black community hurt people who are currently living on the streets, the Daily Mail reported Friday.

Initially, the group recommended the state shell out more than $200,000 to each black resident, the outlet continued:

Moore previously said economists on the panel estimated that black Californians descended from slaves were owed $1 million per person in reparations.

Moore, 30, noted that as the panel prepares for their final recommendations in July, they are weighing how to help the people who would need the money the most as the panel argues the payments would go on to ‘boost the economy.’
