New Cold War? U.S., China Defense Chiefs Square Off in Singapore

U.S. and Chinese military leaders squared off at a major security conference in Singapore: Beijing asserted that its forces are ready for war over Taiwan, while U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin chided China for its increasingly aggressive military actions in the region.

Chinese Defense Minister Gen. Li Shangfu bluntly told the Shangri-La dialogue defense conference that Beijing seeks “peaceful reunification” with Taiwan, but will “make no promise to renounce the use of force” if necessary to make the island democracy part of China.

“If anyone dares to separate Taiwan from China, the Chinese military will not hesitate for a second,” he said. “We will fear no opponents and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity regardless of any cost.”

Gen. Li’s comments came a day after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the U.S. military is stepping up plans, coordination and training to “deter aggression.”

The competing remarks, in speeches at Shangri-La last weekend, underscored the depths of U.S.-China tensions. The strains were on display ahead of the security conference when Chinese jets engaged in a dangerous aerial intercept of a U.S. surveillance aircraft in the region last week. Chinese Defense Leader Defends ‘Unsafe’ Military Maneuvers Towards US Military

The Chinese defense minister defended the People’s Liberation Army’s aggressive military maneuvers recently made toward United States military personnel in the region.

Minister of National Defense Li Shangfu said a recent aerial intercept and aggression toward a U.S. vessel in the Taiwan Strait were responses to provocations.

While speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, he said the USS Chung-Hoon and HMCS Montreal cannot be considered “innocent passage” and said that foreign militaries should “mind your own business,” according to Military Times.

U.S. Indo-Pacific Command said the vessel was conducting a routine south-to-north Taiwan Strait transit on June 3 when the Chinese Navy’s LUYANG III DDG 132 “executed maneuvers in an unsafe manner in the vicinity of Chung-Hoon.“

The Chinese naval vessel approached and ultimately twice crossed in front of the U.S. ship, forcing it to slow down to avoid a collision. (Read more from “Chinese Defense Leader Defends ‘Unsafe’ Military Maneuvers Towards US Military” HERE)

Chinese ‘Spies’ Disguised Themselves as Tourists and Tried to Infiltrate Multiple US Military Bases in Alaska

Suspected Chinese spies disguised as tourists have made multiple attempts to infiltrate US military bases in Alaska, according to US officials.

The attempted breaches may be probes into US military activities in the state, soldiers familiar with the matter told USA Today.

On one recent occasion, a vehicle carrying Chinese citizens blew past a security checkpoint at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks.

The vehicle was stopped and the occupants claimed to be tourists but a search of their car revealed a drone. . .

Iris Ferguson, deputy assistant secretary of defense for Arctic and Global Resiliences, told a September news conference that Chinese leaders have ‘been trying to insert themselves into the Arctic.’ (Read more from “Chinese ‘Spies’ Disguised Themselves as Tourists and Tried to Infiltrate Multiple US Military Bases in Alaska” HERE)

“Most Important Video You Will Watch This Year”: US Intentionally Released COVID on World

The Covid-19 coronavirus was “intentionally released” by the United States in Wuhan, China, with the target to trigger a global pandemic to raise public acceptance of vaccines, a US businessman specializing in patent auditing said.

David Martin, the founding chairman of M Cam asset management company, said at an International Covid Summit organized by the European Parliament in Brussels earlier this month that the US was responsible for the making of both coronaviruses causing the outbreaks of severe acute respiratory syndrome – or SARS – in 2003 and the Covid-19 pandemic in the past three years.

The third edition of the summit featured speakers from anti-lockdown advocates to medical academia to discuss the global pandemic response. The speakers shed light on the possibility that the coronavirus which caused the pandemic was man-made, instead of naturally occurring.

In his speech, Martin said: “The pandemic that we alleged to have happened in the last few years did not happen overnight. In fact, the very specific pandemic using the coronavirus began at a different time.”

He said that in 1965, scientists discovered the coronavirus as a model of a pathogen – an agent that causes disease. They also found out that coronaviruses can be modified. (Read more from ““Most Important Video You Will Watch This Year”: US Intentionally Released COVID on World” HERE)

This Is the First State to Ban TikTok

Montana has become the first U.S. state to ban the China-owned app TikTok. Governor Greg Gianforte (R) announced Wednesday that he has singed legislation in order to protect his state’s residents from “the Chinese Communist Party.”

“The Chinese Communist Party using TikTok to spy on Americans, violate their privacy, and collect their personal, private, and sensitive information is well-documented,” Gianforte said.

“Today, Montana takes the most decisive action of any state to protect Montanans’ private data and sensitive personal information from being harvested by the Chinese Communist Party,” the governor added.

The law will reportedly let the Montana Department of Justice fine app stores or TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, $10,000 for each discrete violation, and $10,000 for each day that a violation continues. (Read more from “This Is the First State to Ban TikTok” HERE)

China Expands Targeting of U.S With Russian-Style Covert Influence Operations

China’s government is expanding the use of covert influence operations targeting the United States and is expected to exploit the White House-congressional clash over the debt limit crisis as part of growing anti-U.S. activities, the director of national intelligence said.

The most recent DNI annual threat assessment warned that China’s efforts are nearing the aggressive intensity of similar covert disinformation operations from Russia, including the use of intelligence agents, cybertools and social media to meddle in U.S. elections, weaken national security laws and exacerbate domestic divisions.

“Beijing’s growing efforts to actively exploit perceived U.S. societal divisions using its online personas move it closer to Moscow’s playbook for influence operations,” the assessment states.

The report described Russian disinformation as one of the “most serious foreign influence threats to the United States.”

Avril Haines, the director of national intelligence, disclosed in congressional testimony on May 4 that China is expected to use the looming government crisis over raising the debt ceiling in its anti-U.S. influence campaigns. Chinese Diplomat Expelled From Canada After Alleged ‘Intimidation’ Campaign Against Anti-Beijing Lawmaker

Chinese diplomat Zhao Wei has been expelled from Canada after allegedly participating in an intimidation campaign against an anti-Beijing lawmaker.

Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly released a statement Monday declaring Zhao “persona non grata” and expelling him from the country, saying the conduct Zhao allegedly engaged in was unacceptable. Zhao was accused by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) of targeting Canadian opposition lawmaker Michael Chong, who had been critical of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) over its treatment of Uyghur Muslims, Reuters reported.

“I have been clear: we will not tolerate any form of foreign interference in our internal affairs. Diplomats in Canada have been warned that if they engage in this type of behaviour, they will be sent home,” Joly said. “This decision has been taken after careful consideration of all factors at play. We remain firm in our resolve that defending our democracy is of the utmost importance.” (Read more from “Chinese Diplomat Expelled From Canada After Alleged ‘Intimidation’ Campaign Against Anti-Beijing Lawmaker” HERE)

Chairman Milley on Avoiding War With China: U.S. Must Strengthen Military

Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the U.S. military needs to become stronger to deter a war with China, while preventing Beijing from forging a closer alliance with Russia.

Gen. Milley told the journal Foreign Affairs that unlike the Cold War standoff between the United States and the Soviet Union, military power today is divided among three nations — the United States, China and Russia.

“It is not in the U.S. interest to see Russia and China form a strategic military alliance, and we should do what we can to make sure that that doesn’t happen,” the four-star general said in a lengthy exchange with the publication. “Today we’re in a tripolar world, so three is more complicated than two — and that relationship is very difficult to manage.”

Gen. Milley said Washington must be careful not to drive China and Russia closer together in a military alliance. (Read more from “Chairman Milley on Avoiding War With China: U.S. Must Strengthen Military” HERE)

Dem Rep Frequently Met With Alleged Chinese Police Station Director Arrested by the FBI, Photos Show

New York Democratic Rep. Grace Meng frequently met and attended events with an alleged Chinese Communist Party (CCP) operative who was recently arrested by the FBI, according to photos and news reports reviewed by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Since 2016, Meng has attended multiple New York City events held by Chinese-American organizations to which Lu Jianwang, the suspected CCP operative, has belonged, according to photos and reports from multiple Chinese-language news sites. On April 17, the FBI arrested Lu Jianwang, the former “chairman” of the nonprofit America Changle Association, for allegedly “opening and operating an illegal overseas police station” within the nonprofit’s Manhattan headquarters.

Not only has Meng attended multiple events alongside Lu Jianwang, who also goes by Harry Lu, but the six-term congresswoman was also present at several key moments in America Changle’s history, photos and reports from multiple Chinese-language news sources reveal.

“While Congresswoman Meng has likely encountered him at local community events, she has no personal relationship with [Lu Jianwang], and was unaware of any allegations against him until last Monday’s news,” Meng’s press secretary told the DCNF. Alleged Chinese Operative Arrested by FBI for Opening ‘Secret Police Stations’ Attended Ritzy Dem Events

An alleged Chinese Communist Party (CCP) operative arrested by the FBI on Monday was pictured meeting with several prominent New York Democrats at swanky dinners and campaign events, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation found.

Lu Jianwang, whom the FBI arrested Monday for conspiring to act as an agent of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), is pictured with New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and even attended an apparent fundraiser for New York Democratic Rep. Grace Meng, according to multiple Chinese-language news reports and photographic evidence. Lu allegedly operated an overseas police station on behalf of the Chinese government.

The FBI charged Lu with “obstructing justice by destroying evidence of [his] communications with a [Ministry of Public Security] official,” just months after the FBI raided the office of America Changle Association, the nonprofit at which Lu previously served as chairman, sometime in fall 2022.

On April 24, 2022, Lu took part in a fundraiser held in Flushing, New York, for Rep. Meng’s congressional campaign, according to photos posted on CareerEngine.US, a Chinese-language news website. Campaign finance records confirm that Meng’s campaign committee, Grace for New York, held an event at the Crown One Restaurant that day, and photos of the restaurant match the images on CareerEngine.US.

Lu Jianwang attended the April 2022 fundraiser, according to the report which featured an image of Meng and Lu standing side-by-side. (Read more from “Alleged Chinese Operative Arrested by FBI for Opening ‘Secret Police Stations’ Attended Ritzy Dem Events” HERE)
