Taiwan Reports Chinese Aircraft in Its Air Defense Zone After Russia Invaded Ukraine

Nine Chinese aircraft entered Taiwan’s air defense identification zone, Taiwan’s defense ministry said Thursday, on the same day that Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Tawian reported eight J-16 sorties and one Y-8 reconnaissance aircraft flying over an area to the northeast of the Pratas Islands, at the top end of the South China Sea, which prompted the island nation to scramble its air force. According to Reuters, the number of aircraft involved in the incursion is smaller than the last large-scale incident, when 39 Chinese aircraft flew into Taiwanese territory on Jan. 23.

China claims Taiwan, the seat of the exiled Republic of China government, as its own territory, and over the past two years it has regularly conducted fly-over missions in Taiwanese air space.

Taiwanese fighters were deployed to warn the Chinese aircraft to back off and air defense missiles were set up to “monitor the activities,” the defense ministry said, according to Reuters.

The government in Taipei is paying close attention to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the response from Western governments over concerns that China may use the situation to move against the island. Report: Government Officials Secretly Believe Lab-Leak Caused COVID Pandemic

A British chemical weapons expert is alleging that behind closed doors government officials in London believe a lab-leak led to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, a former British Army officer who commanded the United Kingdom’s Joint Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Regiment, told the Telegraph that he believes the official view within the British government is that a lab-leak theory was most likely the cause of the global pandemic. However, he said there’s significant concern about coming out and saying so publicly.

“I think the official view [within Government] is that it is as likely as anything else to have caused the pandemic. A lot of people like myself think it is more likely. I think attitudes have changed a little bit. The zoonotic transfer theory just didn’t make sense,” he told the Telegraph. “There is a huge amount of concern about coming out publicly, but behind closed doors most people think it’s a lab leak. And they are coming round to the fact that even if they don’t agree with that, they must accept it’s likely, and they must make sure the policies are in place to stop it.”

De Bretton-Gordon submitted evidence to the government for its new biosecurity strategy to handle “accidental release and dual-use research of concern, where life science research is capable of being misapplied to do harm.” One type of dual-use research is the kind of gain-of-function research that was happening at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) prior to the coronavirus pandemic, where dangerous pathogens were being genetically altered to make them more dangerous to humans. Trump: China ‘Absolutely’ Going to Take Taiwan With Biden in Office; Tulsi Gabbard: ‘Sanctions Don’t Work’ — They Only Punish the American People

By Daily Wire. Former President Donald Trump warned during an interview on Tuesday that China was going to take over Taiwan after watching Russia invade Ukraine, something that he said would not have happened on his watch.

During an appearance on “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show” at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump responded to the latest news about Russia moving forces into separatist regions of Ukraine that Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized as “independent” on Monday. In response to the latest provocations from Russia, NATO announced that it had placed more than 100 fighter jets on high alert and that other forces were being mobilized to protect member states of NATO from Russian aggression.

“By the way, this never would have happened with us. Had I been in office, not even thinkable. This would never have happened,” Trump said. “But [Putin] says, you know, ‘I’m gonna declare a big portion of Ukraine independent,’ he used the word ‘independent,’ ‘and we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help keep peace.’ You gotta say that’s pretty savvy. And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn’t have one for that. No, it’s very sad. Very sad.”

“I think [Putin] sees this opportunity,” Trump later added. “I knew that he always wanted Ukraine. I used to talk to him about it. I said, ‘You can’t do it. You’re not gonna do it.’ But I could see that he wanted it. I used to ask him. We used to talk about it at length. I think nobody probably knows him better in terms of the discussions that we have or that we’re having this morning. So I knew him very well. I got to know him. I got to know President Xi. By the way, China is gonna be next. You know, China is gonna —” (Read more from “Trump: China ‘Absolutely’ Going to Take Taiwan With Biden in Office, Would Not Have Happened Under Me” HERE)

Tulsi Gabbard: ‘Sanctions Don’t Work’ — They Only Punish the American People

By Breitbart. Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) said Tuesday on FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” that sanctions against Russia for invading Ukraine would not work.

Gabbard said, “The reality is the sanctions don’t work, whether put in before or now or later, the sanctions don’t work. What we do know is they will increase suffering and hardship for the American people. This is the whole problem with the Biden administration. They are so focused on how do we punish Putin that they don’t care, and they are not focused on what is actually in the best interest of the American people. So when Biden stands there and looks directly into the camera and says defending freedom will cost us, what he really should be stating is looking directly into the American people’s eyes and saying, ‘This will cost you.’[”] (Read more from “Tulsi Gabbard: ‘Sanctions Don’t Work’ — They Only Punish the American People” HERE)

American-Born Gold Medalist Cashing in Big on Chinese Endorsement Money

Eileen Gu, the American-born skier who won a gold medal for her mother’s homeland China, reportedly raked in tens of million dollars in Chinese endorsement deals — even before her considerable success at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

The site Insider cited a report from CBN Data, a Shanghai-based research firm, as saying Gu brought in 200 million Yuan (or over $31 million) in 2021 — before her gold medal run.

Yicai Global, an outlet in Shanghai, counted 23 endorsement deals for Gu heading into the Olympics, including Estee Lauder cosmetics, Cadillac, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany.

According to various outlets, her Chinese endorsers include Anta sportswear, Luckin Coffee, Mengniu Dairy, the e-retailer, JD.Com, China Mobile, the Peoples Insurance Company of China and Bank of China.

Gu, 18, is both a supermodel and a champion. She won the gold medal in women’s freestyle big air last week, becoming the youngest gold medalist in history for that event. Gu also earned a silver medal in freestyle slopestyle. (Read more from “American-Born Gold Medalist Cashing in Big on Chinese Endorsement Money” HERE)

Team USA Olympian Blasted as ‘Traitor’ on Chinese Social Media

After leading Team USA to a silver medal in the team figure skating competition and winning his first Olympic gold in the men’s individual event, Nathan Chen has been slammed on Weibo — the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

The 22-year-old Chinese-American was labeled a “traitor” on the social media platform for choosing to represent the United States, and was even told to “get out of China.” After his victory Thursday, some on Weibo complained that Chen was “too white” and Americanized, citing a long list of examples where they thought Chen was “insulting China” with his actions.

Chen has previously refused to speak Chinese interviews, claiming that his Mandarin “isn’t very good.”

The Yale student put his support behind American ice dancer Evan Bates’ condemnation of China’s human rights abuses in an October interview. At the time, Bates came down hard on China’s “awful” treatment of the Uyghur people. The US did not send any diplomats to the Winter Olympics in Beijing because of the “egregious human rights abuses and atrocities.”

According to Reuters, Bates said, “We’re human beings, too, and when we read and hear about the things that are happening there, we absolutely hate that. We hate what’s going on there,” during a US Olympic and Paralympic Committee event. (Read more from “Team USA Olympian Blasted as ‘Traitor’ on Chinese Social Media” HERE)

WATCH: Olympians in Tears Over Poor Living Conditions, Lack of Food at Winter Games

. . .Complaints from athletes and officials are pouring in about the alleged poor living conditions, dining options, isolating rooms, and debilitating weather conditions, according to social media posts.

German Alpine skiing coach Christian Schwaiger criticized the catering in Beijing and raised concern about limited food options to fuel the high-performing pro athletes.

“The catering is extremely questionable because really it’s not catering at all. “There are no hot meals,” Schwaiger said, via the Sun. . .

Valeria Vasnetsova, a Russian biathlon competitor, took to Instagram to discuss her experiences under Beijing’s strict quarantine conditions.

“I’ve been getting this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for five days now. I’ve lost a lot of weight and my bones are sticking out. I can’t eat anything else, I don’t know anything about my corona tests,” Vasnetsova wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. ‘Wait and See’: China Vows Strong Response as U.S. Prepares to Arm Taiwan

China has demanded the United States revoke a possible arms agreement with Taiwan in support of its Patriot missile systems—a deal Washington believes will improve the island’s security and help maintain political stability.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office, Taiwan’s de facto embassy in Washington. D.C, requested the purchase of equipment and services worth $100 million over five years, said the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

Congress was notified of the State Department’s approval on Monday.

Taiwan’s armed forces operate a number of the American-made, surface-to-air and anti-ballistic missile systems, whose sole purpose is to deter and intercept Chinese aircraft and projectiles in the event of a conflict across the Taiwan Strait. The foreign military sale—the first involving Taiwan this year and the second under the Biden administration—will “sustain, maintain, and improve the Patriot Air Defense System,” according to DSCA’s statement. Report: China’s Uyghur Torchbearer Vanishes After Poor Showing; Is China Using COVID Quarantines to Rig the Winter Olympics? Athletes Blow the Lid, and It’s Chilling

By Breitbart. The Wall Street Journal revealed on Sunday that Dinigeer Yilamujiang, a Uyghur athlete who China made an Olympic torchbearer for the Opening Ceremonies, violated Olympic rules and failed to meet journalists after a poor performance on Saturday.

Upon Yilamujiang’s 43rd place finish in the cross-country ski event, she did not pass through the mandatory media zone for interviews, a violation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) rules, according to the Journal. Reporters waited indefinitely for her, as no officials notified them that she would not be coming. The newspaper noted that her whereabouts remain unknown to foreign reporters at the time of the article’s publication.

The IOC declined to comment to the Journal on Yilamujiang’s absence. Likewise, China’s National Olympic Committee did not respond to the publication’s request for comment.

After the event, Yilamujiang’s name was reportedly barely mentioned by Chinese state media.

“Though Ms. Yilamujiang wasn’t available to answer journalists’ questions after Saturday’s race, China’s state-run broadcaster did have an exclusive interview, in which she expressed incredulity at having been entrusted with the role of torchbearer,” the Journal reported. Is China Using COVID Quarantines to Rig the Winter Olympics? Athletes Blow the Lid, and It’s Chilling

By WND. . .According to the UK Daily Mail, dozens of athletes said they had experienced inhumane conditions while in isolation due to positive COVID-19 tests.

Russian biathlete Valeria Vasnetsova said she was served an extremely small and unappealing meal three times a day for five days while she was in isolation. By the end, she said her “bones [were] sticking out,” the Daily Mail reported. . .

Polish speed skater Natalia Maliszewska had a similarly terrible experience. She said she was repeatedly moved into and out of isolation due to conflicting results from the unreliable COVID-19 tests being used in China.

One particular night was burned into her memory. She was woken up in the middle of the night and told she would be able to return to the Olympic Village, but officials then reversed their decision and sent her back to isolation. NIH Spent Billions Supporting Research in China Including Its Biowarfare Program

Judicial Watch obtained 301 pages of emails and other records from the NIH through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

Among those documents is a list of 2,221 research projects awarded to U.S. universities between 2010 and 2018, through which money was funneled to Chinese research centers. The major portion of those grants (22%) were provided by Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

Chief among the recipients of Anthony Fauci’s generosity was Major General Wuchun Cao (shown in the photo as a Senior Colonel), who has been identified as a key figure in China’s biowarfare program.

Wuchun Cao has been the Director of the Institute of Microbial Epidemiology, Academy of Military Medical Sciences and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Biosafety of Pathogenic Microorganisms, both in Beijing.

He has also been a part-time research scientist and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shandong University.

Wuchun Cao is a senior advisor on bioterrorism to the Chinese Communist Party and a scientific advisor for Wuhan Institute of Virology. He was second-in-command of the military team under Major General Chen Wei, presumed leader of China’s biowarfare program, that was sent to Wuhan to control the outbreak of COVID-19 early in the pandemic.

Wuchun Cao was a participant in the 2013 NIAID research grant R01AI083640-05 for $343,817, awarded to Xiaofeng “Frank” Yang of the Indiana University School of Medicine.

The China-origins of Xiaofeng “Frank” Yang remain hidden, but he was a guest speaker at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in 2012.

The joint work between Xiaofeng “Frank” Yang and Wuchun Cao, which included Duke and Yale Universities, was published in 2015.

Wuchun Cao was a participant in the 2014-2017 NIAID research grant R01AI108993 for $1,719,354, awarded to Gregory Gray of Duke University.

An earlier Gateway Pundit article described the long-term research collaboration between Wuchun Cao and Gregory Gray concerning the epidemiological spread of influenza virus and how that research may have played into the planning around the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wuchun Cao was a participant in the 2014-2018 NIAID grant R01AI110820 for $3,926,048, awarded to the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.

Wuchun Cao was a participant in the 2017-2018 NIAID grant R01AI125842 for $1,493,667 awarded to the University of California at Berkeley.

People’s Liberation Army scientists Shibo Jiang of the Lindsley F. Kimball Institute at the New York Blood Center and his long-time collaborator Yusen Zhou of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences in Beijing teamed up on NIAID research grants R03 AI088449 (2011-2012), R21 AI128311-01 (2017) R01 AI139092-01 (2018), R21 AI128311-02 (2018) and R01 AI137472-01 (2018) for a total of $2,400,883.

Both Shibo Jiang and Yusen Zhou have deep connections with China’s People’s Liberation Army and were involved in research leading up to the laboratory origin of COVID-19, fact that have been exhaustively detailed in Gateway Pundit articles, here, here and here.

China has a fused military-civilian virus research program, which includes its bioweapon development effort.

It now appears, as documented in a previous Gateway Pundit article, that China’s fused military-civilian biowarfare program has been extended to incorporate U.S. laboratories and U.S. taxpayer funding.

University Calls Criticism of China’s Human Rights Abuses Racist

George Washington University (GWU) President Mark Wrighton apologized Monday for an earlier email he sent calling anti-China artwork offensive and vowing to remove the art from campus.

Wrighton initially said he was “personally offended” by posters showing the art, which criticizes China, and he said he was working to have the posters removed and find the person responsible for posting them.

“I treasure the opportunity to work with talented people from all over the world, including China,” Wrighton’s initial email read, according to Badiucao, the artist who designed the posters. “I, too, am saddened by this terrible event and we will undertake an effort to determine who is responsible.”

The posters in question showed Badiucao’s Olympics-themed artwork, which features a snowboarder riding a surveillance camera, an Olympic shooter pointing his rifle at a blindfolded Uyghur Muslim and a curler sliding an animated coronavirus particle.

The school’s Chinese Students and Scholars Association sent out an email claiming the posters had “serious racist views” and carried out “extremely vicious personal attacks on all international students from China and Asian groups,” according to screenshots shared by Badiucao. The email also urged the school to “punish” those who hung up the posters “severely.” (Read more from “University Calls Criticism of China’s Human Rights Abuses Racist” HERE)
