Chris Matthews Can’t Wrap His Head Around Making More Lumber In U.S. Because Of Possible Trump Tariffs

Former MSNBC host Chris Matthews could not seem to wrap his head around the possibility of the U.S. producing its own lumber instead of receiving the product from Canada during a Wednesday segment of “Morning Joe.”

President Donald Trump’s administration is reportedly set to increase tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber from 14.5% to 34.45%, according to a Department of Commerce memo obtained by Bloomberg. Despite there being plenty of trees in the U.S., Matthews claimed that making more lumber in the U.S. rather than importing it from a neighboring country is a fantasy that cannot possibly be accomplished.

“You see, we get so many of our lumber, our two by fours, from Canada. That’s where we get it from. We get our newsprint from up there for newspapers. The fact is, we get it. What are we gonna do? Have more lumber made in the United States now? What is our plan now? Oh, we’re not gonna import wood, so we’re gonna make more wood?” Matthews said. “We’re gonna create more wood? Is that it? I don’t think we’re in a position to replicate the imports coming into this country with our own products, they can’t always be done. And wood’s an example of that. Wood. Are we gonna make more wood in this country because of our trade deal? I don’t think so.”

The Thrill Is Gone: Chris Matthews Says That Obama Is Political Loser Of The Year (+video)

We don’t usually care much about what Chris Matthews thinks. He’s one of those jacka**es who cries racism when he has nothing intelligent to say.

But we think it’s interesting that the man who once claimed to get a thrill up his leg when he heard Barack Obama speak is now saying that the President is the political loser of the year.

All of this comes on the heels of Barbara Walters expressing disappointment that Barack Obama is not, indeed, the Messiah.

We think that there are an awful lot of lamestream media journalists who will be drinking quite a bit of eggnog this holiday season to cope with the fact that their hero, Barack Obama, is really an inept leader. The epiphany was a long time coming, but at least it’s arrived.

How Does ‘Hope and Change’ Look Five Years Later? Here’s Chris Matthew’s Surprising Answer (+video)

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews was cornered into admitting that President Barack Obama does indeed have his shortcomings. The TV host, who has previously referred to the president as the “perfect” American, father and husband, was asked by a GOP strategist on Tuesday morning: How does “hope and change” look five years later?

“What people signed up for, what people voted for, was the hope and change,” former John McCain aide Nicolle Wallace said. “How’s it look on the table five years later?”

After being evasive at first and talking about past presidents, Matthews ultimately addressed Obama’s “shortcoming.” He also acknowledged that he had been duped by politicians and been let down in the past.

Chris Matthews Repeatedly Calls Senator Ted Cruz a Terrorist (+video)

During his Wednesday broadcast, MSNBC host Chris Matthews reiterated his insistence that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) both looks and acts like former U.S. Sen. Joe McCarthy (R-WI). He added, however, that it was his opinion that Cruz is also a “terrorist.” When a guest argued that Matthews’ assertion was irresponsible, the MSNBC host clarified that Cruz was a “political terrorist” and defended that claim.

“I compared him to McCarthy,” Matthews said of Cruz. “I shouldn’t get into what people look like, but he does — he reminds me so much, when I look at him interrogating a witness on the Hill, he looks like Joe McCarthy.”

“I will say he’s a terrorist,” Matthews added. “What he’s done is say, ‘my goal is demolition.’ Blow up health care. Blow up the continuing resolution. Bring the government to a standstill.”

Rush on Obama’s Failed Berlin Speech: Why the President Has to Have a Teleprompter (+video)

A number of commentators, not just on the right but also liberal pundits like Chris Matthews, all agreed that Obama’s speech in Berlin fell flat.

Rush Limbaugh contends that the President’s lackluster performance was due to the fact that he wasn’t using a teleprompter (apparently the sun interfered with its use). Rush explains why the teleprompter is so important to Obama:

Obama, if you’ve noticed, he’s lost without that prompter. And I know why. I know why he’s always on the prompter. And that is to make sure he doesn’t slip up and portray what he really thinks and what his plans really are. It’s so Obama stays confined in the way that he has been marketed and presented, and he participates in that of course, and the way they manage, ’cause it’s all about the Limbaugh Theorem. It’s all about Obama appearing detached, unattached.

It’s all about Obama disguising what his real intentions are. With no prompter and no discipline, he might actually let it slip what his real plans are, and that would be devastating. The fact of the matter is that most liberals cannot be honest with you about what they really hope happens or what they really want to happen or what they really intend to do, because if that ever happens — and it has — they don’t win much. They’re resoundingly defeated, particularly in national elections. So that’s the primary reason for the prompter, is to keep Obama on message and disciplined so that he doesn’t wander off and give up the game.

..[T]he end of the Obama’s speech today at the Brandenburg Gate kind of fizzled. It had no pizzazz, and Chris Matthews — the sycophantic thrill-up-the-leg Obamaite — said that it was because of the sun, the setting sun was obscuring Obama’s prompter, and he wasn’t able to see the words on the prompter, and without the prompter we he doesn’t know what he’s saying, apparently. What else is there to conclude? Well, we know the real reason he’s on prompter.

They gotta make sure he doesn’t drift off and reveal what’s really on his mind.

Video: Chris Matthews Implies Bachmann is Racist for Criticizing Obama

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has been under fire in the press this week after she criticized President Barack Obama for taking advantage of the White House’s taxpayer funded dog walker. Beyond the factual inaccuracies, however, MSNBC host Chris Matthews identified a racial element in Bachmann’s criticisms of Obama. He said Friday that, in his opinion, the president’s “ethnicity’s a factor” in Bachmann’s criticisms.

After playing a clip of several quotes Bachmann made recently which earned her the rebuke of the nation’s fact checkers, Matthews returned to his guests and asked if they heard something deeper in her comments.

“You know, I’m going to be careful here, but I think ethnicity’s a factor here,” Matthews said. “You go after a president on things like dog walking and this ridiculous notion of five chefs on Air Force – like you can’t have that because, from your background.”

“Let me not call her a racist, but I don’t know what’s in this,” Matthews added.

Brent Bozell: “If Chris Matthews Could Carry Barack Obama’s Next Child He Would” (+video)

Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center had this to say about Chris Matthews on Hannity tonight:

“If Chris Matthews could carry Barack Obama’s next child he would … This goes way beyond the (thrill up the) leg but we’re not going to go there either.”

He made this statement after hearing Chris Matthews groveling about how great Obama is, saying that his position on the Harvard Law Review was achieved through merit and that he is squeaky clean, having broke no laws.

Hannity then mentions Obama’s consumption of cocaine and asks, “What about the drug use?”

Videos: Chris Matthews & Congressman Cummings Caught Lying About GOP Cuts as the Cause of Inadequate Security in Benghazi

In trying to blame the Libyan security fiasco on the GOP, Chris Matthews asked Rep. Elijah Cummings today, “What about this fact, apparently, that the Republicans in the House were the ones who cut effectively a half a billion dollars in security costs. . .” Congressman Cummings responded, “That’s exactly right, that’s exactly right”:

Unfortunately for Cummings and Matthews, the decision to reduce security in Benghazi had absolutely nothing to do with GOP budget cuts.

Congressman Dana Rohrabacher later asked the State Department official responsible for denying the additional security directly whether budget restraints had anything to do with the inadequate security. She answered, “No”:

On a recent Jay Leno episode, Chris Matthews was taken away in a straight jacket after continuing to rage about Obama’s performance.

Allen West ascribed an even earlier Chris Matthew’s meltdown to him getting “off his meds.”
