CDC’s Latest Announcement Paves Way for the End of Mandates

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its COVID-19 mask guidance Friday to no longer recommend mask-wearing in most indoor settings.

Many state and local governments have deferred to CDC guidance when implementing mask mandates, meaning the change could lead to the end of the remaining mask mandates in some blue jurisdictions. The CDC has recommended indoor masking for Americans, regardless of vaccination status, since last summer after briefly relaxing guidance in the spring of 2021.

The new CDC guidance divides communities into high, medium and low risk categories based on COVID metrics like hospitalizations. People in communities that are deemed high risk are advised to wear a mask indoors, but those in low or medium risk areas are advised only to get vaccinated and get tested if sick.

In medium risk communities, vulnerable individuals are encouraged to seek the advice of their doctor on whether or not to wear a mask. Roughly 70% of American counties fall in the medium or low risk groups, meaning those residents aren’t advised to mask. On the Road: Trucker Convoy Heads for DC as Pentagon OKs Request to Deploy National Guard

A convoy of truckers opposed to COVID-19 mandates set off on a planned cross-country drive from Southern California to the Washington DC area Wednesday as the Pentagon approved a request to deploy approximately 700 unarmed National Guard troops ahead of the group’s expected arrival.

About two dozen trucks and a number of other vehicles hit the road from the Mojave Desert town of Adelanto as part of a self-proclaimed “People’s Convoy.”

Organizers said in a statement that they planned to undertake a “100% safe, lawful and peaceful” journey that would “terminate in the vicinity of the DC area, but will NOT be going into DC proper.”

Arrival was scheduled for March 5, but some participants are expected to arrive in the Washington area in time for President Biden’s March 1 State of the Union address to Congress.

The California convoy is one of at least three demonstrations organized online and modeled on the recent protests by Canadian truckers that shut down US border crossings and clogged the streets of the capital, Ottawa, for weeks. Hilarious: Pro-Masking School Board Member Storms Out After Parents Unearth Her Maskless Photo (VIDEO)

A school board member in Montgomery County, Virginia, stormed out of a meeting Tuesday night after a parent showed pictures of her maskless in a crowded room, according to a video of the encounter.

Video shows Montgomery County Public Schools’ Board Chairwoman Susan Kass attempting to talk over a parent who showed other school board members photos that allegedly showed Kass maskless in a crowd. The photos came from Kass’ Facebook page, according to the parent, WDBJ7 reported.

“If you are going to sit there and disparage a member of our school board, you can sit down,” Kass said to the speaker, according to WDBJ7.

Fellow board member Jamie Bond encouraged Kass to listen, arguing that the parent “should be able to say her piece.” Bond said that people criticized other board members in the past as well, the outlet reported. Brewery Owner Compares Vaccine Mandate to Nazi Regime, Jim Crow

A New York City brewery owner sparked outrage online after comparing COVID-19 vaccine mandates to the draconian policies of Nazi Germany and the segregation-era South. However, he thinks the reaction was overblown.

“Everyone should have a basic human right what they decide to put in their own body,” Josh Stylman, 48, CEO of the popular Threes Brewing, told The Post. He was speaking out against the citywide coronavirus jab policies, which include requiring restaurant and bar patrons to present proof that they’ve been fully vaccinated prior to entry.

The controversy began brewing on Feb. 14 after the beer boss tweeted that “vaccine mandates are a crime against humanity” and “if you are not speaking out against them, you are a conspirator.” In a follow-up tweet, Stylman compared the policies to “early sentiments expressed in the Jim Crow South, Nazi Germany, Stalinism, Maoism, and other dark times in human history.” . . .

However, the restaurateur, who says he’s “pro-vaccine” but “anti-mandate,” said he felt that his statements were taken out of context.

“I’m not deluded enough to think it [the vaccine mandate] is like 1943 Germany,” Stylman, who said his grandparents were concentration camp survivors, told The Post. By Daily Caller. Ontario, Canada, Superior Court Chief Justice Geoffrey Morawetz ordered an end to the “Freedom Convoy” blockade at Ambassador Bridge on the Canada-U.S. border Friday.

Morawetz’s order came in response to a request from Windsor, Ontario, Mayor Drew Dilkens and originally went into effect at 7:00 p.m. Eastern, according to the New York Times. When news of the order reached protesters on the bridge, they reacted with defiance, The Associated Press reported.

An unnamed man with a microphone asked protesters if they would comply with the order, according to the AP. The crowd reacted with applause as they agreed to stay on the bridge, the outlet reported.

Trudeau Blames Americans For Aiding And Abetting Ottawa Trucker Protest

By Daily Caller. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau laid blame at the feet of the U.S. for ongoing protests by truckers in Ottawa during a press conference Friday.

Trudeau addressed the protests against COVID-19 restrictions which have bogged down business in the Canadian capital for the past two weeks. In his speech, he said he spoke with President Joe Biden about American citizens who have provided funds, supplies and other support to the truckers.

“This morning, I had a direct call with President Biden to talk about our shared challenges at the border. I updated him on the situation, particularly in Windsor,” Trudeau said at the top of his press conference. “We discussed the American, and indeed global influences on the protest. Of Course Not: US Surgeon General Says the COVID Pandemic ‘Is Not Over’

U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said in a recent interview that coronavirus restrictions should be scaled back “as the pandemic improves” but that the pandemic is not yet over.

“The pandemic is not over today. We are still seeing record numbers of hospitalizations, deaths, and cases in this country,” Murthy told The Associated Press. “I think that as the pandemic gets better, we should be pulling back on restrictions. The conversation now is about what should determine when that happens.”

He gave some indication of what would have to occur before he believes restrictions should begin to be eased, such as COVID hospitalization and death statistics, and hospital staffing.

“It’s likely going to be some combination of the hospitalization rate or hospital capacity itself, which is about health care staffing, about the death rate, and also just about where we’re going in terms of cases,” Murthy said. “We also have to have a clear plan for protecting those who are more vulnerable. And we know that there are people in our community, particularly those who are immunocompromised, who may continue to be at higher risk.”

Talk Show Host: Trudeau’s Rhetoric Sounds ‘Like Hitler’

“Real Time” host Bill Maher kicked off his panel discussion Friday night on the ongoing Canadian Freedom Convoy protest that has garnered international attention. . .

The HBO star then took aim at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who he initially thought was a “cool guy,” for his vicious attacks toward the unvaccinated throughout the pandemic and his smearing of the trucker protesters.

“He was talking about people who are not vaccinated. He said, ‘They don’t believe in science. They’re often misogynistic, often racist,'” Maher said, quoting Trudeau.

“No, they’re not,” Maher reacted. “He said, ‘But they take up space. And with that we have to make a choice in terms of a leader as a country. Do we tolerate these people?’

Democrats Are Conveniently ‘Done’ With COVID Just In Time For The 2022 Midterms

Now that we’re in an election year where Democrats see their political fortunes slipping away in real time, they and their co-conspirators in the media have decided we should all take a quick break from “The Science.”

Democrats in New Jersey, New York, California, Oregon, Delaware, Connecticut, Illinois, and Rhode Island in recent days have said to heck with the CDC and are beginning to loosen up their beloved restrictions and mask mandates.

Less than a month ago, the U.S. was averaging more than 800,000 new Covid infections each day, the highest number seen during the entire pandemic, and quadruple the rate of infections that occurred during its peak under President Trump. But because case numbers are finally falling, New York Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney on Wednesday credited “Democrats’ plan to fight COVID,” which he said is “working.” Therefore, he said, “It’s time to give people their lives back.”

Democrats taketh away and Democrats giveth back.

Rep. CNN Medical Analyst Blasted on Twitter After Reversal on COVID Mandates

Dr. Leana Wen, a CNN medical analyst and the former head of Planned Parenthood, is facing loads of backlash on social media for her recent calls to roll back Covid-19 restrictions. And she’s getting it from both sides.

As Julio reported yesterday, Wen told CNN anchor John Berman that she supports off-ramps to mask mandates, particularly in schools, because “the science has changed.”

“We know that vaccines protect very well against Omicron, which is the dominant variant,” Wen said Monday. “Everyone 5 and older have widespread access to vaccines and we also know about one-way masking. The idea that even if other people around you are not wearing masks, if you wear a high-quality mask, that also protects you, the wearer, too … I don’t think anyone really is saying, no one should ever wear masks, but rather that the responsibility should shift from a government mandate imposed from the state or local district of the school, rather it should shift to an individual responsibility by the family who can still decide that their child can wear a mask if needed.”

Winter of Our Discontent: Freedom Convoy Supporters Block Traffic at Canada’s Busiest Border Crossing; Alaska Freedom Convoy Rolls on in Support (VIDEO)

By Breitbart. Supporters of Canada’s anti-mandate, trucker-led Freedom Convoy movement shut down traffic on the Ambassador Bridge on Monday.

Located between Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan, the bridge is part of the busiest border crossing between Canada and the United States.

Protesters blocked the Ambassador Bridge exit onto Huron Church Road in Windsor on Monday, obliging the police to recommend an alternate route for motorists. The resulting traffic jam spread through Windsor and eventually reached across the border into the United States.

The Ambassador Bridge was closed entirely for part of Monday night and Tuesday morning. Police advised motorists, particularly those driving commercial vehicles, to reroute to an entirely different bridge, the Bluewater in Sarnia, if they needed to cross the U.S. border.

A tunnel from Windsor to Detroit was also recommended as an alternative by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

Alaska Freedom Convoy Rolls on in Support of Canadian Truckers

By Breitbart. Truckers traveled from Anchorage to Eagle River, Alaska, over the weekend in support of a massive truck convoy in Ottawa, Canada, to protest coronavirus vaccine mandates in order to conduct cross-border business.

More than 100 truck drivers took part in the Alaskan convoy, the Anchorage Daily News reported.

“Truck drivers and other service providers since Jan. 15 can only enter Canada if they are fully vaccinated,” the Associated Press reported. “A week later, the U.S. required vaccinations from essential non-resident travelers.”

“We have to have the shot stamps on our medical cards in order to go out of state, and we don’t want them,” Jeremy Speldrich, a truck driver with GMG General, Inc. of Anchorage,” said in the AP report. “Mandates should be our choice, whether you want the shots or not.”

AP reported that a second convoy of truckers drove from Eagle River north to the Wasilla area in a show of support of their northern brothers.
