Wasserman Schultz Negotiating With Police Over Hacking Probe

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is “negotiating” with the Capitol Police over whether to stop blocking access to a computer seized from her as part of a criminal cybersecurity investigation, Fox News reported Wednesday.

Soon after resigning as head of the Democratic National Committee in wake of it being hacked, the Florida Democrat’s top information technology (IT) aide, Pakistan-born Imran Awan, was named as the lead suspect in a separate information breach involving House data.

But instead of cooperating with Capitol Police, she used a hearing on the law enforcement group’s budget to threaten “consequences” for Police Chief Matthew R. Verderosa unless he returns her a computer taken in the investigation. Wasserman Schultz appeared visibly distraught in the televised hearing.

The computer was not returned, but it was reported Wednesday that investigators have not been able to examine contents of the equipment.

Now, after months of refusals, a lawyer representing the Florida lawmaker said she is “negotiating” with Capitol Police over whether she will grant them access, Fox reported. (Read more from “Wasserman Schultz Negotiating With Police Over Hacking Probe” HERE)

The Biggest Scandal You’ve Never Heard Of

Is someone blackmailing one of the top members of Congress in plain sight? . . .

Democratic bigwig Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., has become the central figure in two major computer hacking scandals, but she has responded to the incidents in completely opposite ways . . .

With evidence piling up that her own congressional office computer was hacked, Wasserman Schultz has:

Refused to fire the suspect;

Given him a new title and kept him on her payroll;

Apparently allowed him to continue access to her computer system;

Wasserman Schultz Admits Hill IT Security Violations, Blames House Administrators for Not Stopping Her

Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, whose office equipment U.S. Capitol Police seized in a criminal investigation into congressional network security violations, admitted she violated official information security policy and blamed the House’s chief administrative officer for not stopping her.

In a May 17 appropriations hearing on Congress’ administrative budget, Wasserman Shultz said she had violated the policies “for years and years and years.” She also sought to find out how much House authorities might know about her internet usage, asking, “Are members monitored?”

Police are investigating Wasserman Schultz’s longtime information technology aide, Imran Awan, for theft and funneling congressional data from members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Committee on Homeland Security, and Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Yet Wasserman Schultz lashed out at investigators and changed Awan’s title to “adviser” instead of firing him after House authorities banned him from the network. She resigned as Democratic National Committee chairman in July 2016 after unidentified hackers accessed the DNC’s emails, which WikiLeaks later published.

“If a member is using an application outside of the House infrastructure and the protection … [of] our cybersecurity network, they’re in violation of House policy?” she asked John Ramsey, the House’s information security officer, at the previously unreported appropriations hearing. Wasserman Schultz Can’t Guarantee Iran Nuclear Deal Money Won’t Go to Attacking Israel

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.) couldn’t guarantee money Iran got through President Obama’s landmark nuclear deal wouldn’t go to financing terror attacks against Israel during her debate Sunday against primary challenger Tim Canova . . .

Debate moderator Jim DeFede brought up the $1.7 billion Iran got in January as part of a failed arms deal settlement, which included a $400 million cash payment on an unmarked cargo plane that critics charged was effectively a ransom and tied to the nuclear agreement. Iran freed four hostages on the same day it got the cash.

DeFede misspoke about the amounts of money allocated to Iran through the nuclear deal, which is more than $100 billion in sanctions relief, but the crux of his question was whether Wasserman Schultz could guarantee that none of it would be used by Iran to finance terrorist attacks against the Jewish state.

“Can you guarantee that that money, that $1.8 billion that’s part of the Iran deal, won’t be used to finance terror against Israel?” DeFede asked. “Can you guarantee it?”

“You can never guarantee anything, Jim,” she said. (Read more from “Wasserman Schultz Can’t Guarantee Iran Nuclear Deal Money Won’t Go to Attacking Israel” HERE)

Debbie Wasserman Schultz Attacks Trump in Cleveland

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz took her disdain for the Republican Party and its presumptive presidential nominee right to the source Monday, criticizing both during interviews from inside the arena at the GOP convention in Cleveland.

Declaring that Donald Trump should go “nowhere near the White House,” Wasserman Schultz told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that Trump is “the most divisive, bigoted, unprepared, unqualified major-party candidate that has ever run.”

Going further, the DNC chairwoman promised that “that’s the contrast that we’re going to draw. Whatever is said on this stage tonight and through this week, Donald Trump can’t run away from his horrific personal and business record.”

The Democrats are conducting interviews and meetings in Cleveland this week in an effort to counteract any momentum Trump may gain from officially winning the GOP nomination.

In a related interview with NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, Wasserman Schultz echoed her Democratic talking points, calling Trump “divisive,” “dangerous,” “unqualified” and “unprepared.” She told Mitchell that “bluster is no substitute for expertise” and mocked Trump’s calls for war against ISIS.

But Mitchell reminded Wasserman Schultz that despite her claim that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton is “the most admired and respected woman in the entire world,” Clinton’s unpopularity is only bested by Trump. “The negatives in Hillary Clinton — 67 percent don’t trust her,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell also asked Wasserman Schultz how her team would counteract the beliefs some Americans have that the nation needs a “strong man” in the White House. The DNC chairwoman brushed aside the notion Clinton isn’t strong enough to lead the country, countering, “Americans are looking for a president who will keep us safe. … Hillary Clinton will lead us forward and continue the progress we’ve made.”

In addition to having Wasserman Schultz and others on site in Cleveland, a leaked document revealed the Democrats also have planned to disrupt the GOP convention with staged strikes of fast food workers, protests, leaflets and propaganda. Democrats Turn on Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Photo Credit: APDemocratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is in a behind-the-scenes struggle with the White House, congressional Democrats and Washington insiders who have lost confidence in her as both a unifying leader and reliable party spokesperson at a time when they need her most.

Long-simmering doubts about her have reached a peak after two recent public flubs: criticizing the White House’s handling of the border crisis and comparing the tea party to wife beaters.

The perception of critics is that Wasserman Schultz spends more energy tending to her own political ambitions than helping Democrats win. This includes using meetings with DNC donors to solicit contributions for her own PAC and campaign committee, traveling to uncompetitive districts to court House colleagues for her potential leadership bid and having DNC-paid staff focus on her personal political agenda.

She’s become a liability to the DNC, and even to her own prospects, critics say.

“I guess the best way to describe it is, it’s not that she’s losing a duel anywhere, it’s that she seems to keep shooting herself in the foot before she even gets the gun out of the holster,” said John Morgan, a major donor in Wasserman Schultz’s home state of Florida.

Michelle Bachmann Battles Wasserman Schultz Over Benghazi: ‘Democrats Have Tried To Sabotage This Process’ (+video)

Minnesota Republican congresswoman Michelle Bachmann sparred with Florida Democratic congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz over the new congressional committee to investigate Benghazi — with Wasserman Schultz claiming Republicans are “clearly doing this to drive their turnout” and Bachmann accusing Democrats of trying “to sabotage this process.”

The two congresswomen appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Candy Crowley to discuss the ongoing investigation into the Obama administration’s response to the September 2012 Benghazi attacks.

Wasserman Schultz was entirely certain that there’s nothing left to investigate. “Republicans are clearly doing this to drive their turnout –”

“Candy, that is not true at all,” Bachmann interjected.

“Excuse me, Michelle, I didn’t interrupt you,” Wasserman Schultz replied. “So I’d appreciate if you didn’t interrupt me.”

DNC Chairwoman: Politics Didn’t Factor into Obama Keystone Pipeline Delay

Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Sunday dismissed the potential political impact of a delayed decision on the Keystone XL pipeline, calling it a “complex” decision that will need to be carefully weighed.

The State Department, which has been reviewing the environmental impact of a proposal to build an oil pipeline from Canada to refineries along the Gulf Coast, announced this week that it would postpone its decision on whether to approve the project.

Some Republicans who support the project accused Democrats and the White House of purposefully pushing back a ruling until after this year’s midterm elections — but Wasserman Schultz attempted Sunday to dismiss such a notion.

“The decision over the Keystone pipeline is complex and it has to be examined very carefully,” Wasserman Schultz said on NBC’s “Meet The Press.” “It affects multiple states.”

Because of the weight of the issue, Wasserman Schultz said, she wants “to make sure the right decision is arrived at and the president makes that decision carefully and doesn’t put politics in his decision.”

Debbie Wasserman Schultz: NSA Leaker ‘Should be Extradited, Arrested, and Prosecuted’

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said the National Security Agency surveillance leaker should be extradited and prosecuted, CBS Miami reported Tuesday.

According to the local news outlet, the Florida Democratic congresswoman said that while she did not vote for the programs, she believes that the leaker, Edward Snowden should be prosecuted for revealing details about the Prism surveillance program.

“He should be extradited, arrested, and prosecuted,” CBS Miami quoted Wasserman Schultz. “That’s exactly what should happen to him because he violated the law. He violated America’s trust. He jeopardized millions of Americans.”

Wasserman Schultz’ tough talk echoes other lawmakers including New York Republican Rep. Peter King and House Speaker John Boehner.

DNC Chair Wasserman, Pro-Abortion Activist Fluke, Crash GOP Convention in Tampa

Pro-abortion activist Sandra Fluke and pro-abortion Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair and Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz crashed the Republican convention on Thursday afternoon.

Leading up to the nomination acceptance speech from Mitt Romney, Fluke and Wasserman Schultz somehow made it through security and into the convention center to speak to members of the press. Reporters surrounded Schultz to get her take on the GOP convention. She made a brief statement to the press and walked to the Google-sponsored bloggers lounge where press members also are found.

Although Democrats have set up an office near the GOP convention center, this was the first time and top Democrats ventured into the GOP convention itself.

Fluke later tweeted, “At the #RNC2012 getting the word out on why #romneyryan are #WrongForWomen. First this convention has gotten to hear about women’s concerns.”

Matthew Boyle of the conservative Daily Caller had more on their appearances and snapped a picture:
