DHS Rocked by Viral Claims After X Lists Account Location in Israel

A new transparency feature on X has sparked major political controversy after users circulated screenshots claiming the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s official account was listed as being based in Israel. The feature, which quietly appeared on the platform over the weekend, allows users to view the current or past location of an account by tapping the join-date field. While the tool was intended to expose foreign-operated influence accounts posing as Americans, the rollout instead created a wave of confusion and speculation.

Almost immediately, users began posting screen captures showing the DHS location field reading “Tel Aviv, Israel.” The images and videos spread rapidly across X and other platforms, intensifying criticism amid already heightened debate over U.S. support for Israel. Some posts also highlighted a surge of MAGA-branded accounts that appeared to originate from locations in Eastern Europe, Asia, and Africa—supposedly undermining their authenticity.

Initially, DHS responded informally with a meme-like image, but quickly followed with a formal statement denying the claim. The agency insisted that its account had “only ever been run and operated from the United States.”

X leadership backed that explanation. Nikita Bier, the platform’s Head of Product, called the viral screenshots “fake news,” explaining that a subset of older accounts had been assigned inaccurate creation locations due to shifting IP ranges over the years.

Soon after the uproar, the feature briefly disappeared from the platform before returning with modified behavior. DHS’s account now displays “United States” as its location. However, it remains the only major government-linked account showing location data at all, raising new questions about the feature’s rollout and consistency.

X has said that inaccuracies will continue to be corrected over time, but has not offered a clear timeline for when the feature will be fully reliable.

‘Coward Who Back-Stabs Her Own Party’: Conservative Outlet Turns on Trump’s DHS Pick

The conservative news publication The Federalist slammed South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem with a blistering takedown Tuesday that referred to her as a “coward” who was underserving to lead the Department of Homeland Security.

“While Noem is certainly skilled at promoting herself, she doesn’t have the courage required for this role,” Joy Pullmann, an executive editor at The Federalist, wrote in an editorial after news spread that President-elect Donald Trump selected Noem, who famously shot her pet dog to death, for the cabinet position.

In her brutal rebuke, Pullman took issue with several actions Noem took as governor and concluded her “track record is not the behavior of a leader serious enough” to head the agency. The publication referenced Noem’s decisions in favor of state lobbyists involving a “corrupt health-industrial complex,” which Pullman criticized the Trump loyalist for supporting.

“And when she was called out on this by the likes of Tucker Carlson, Noem’s defense was that she’s scared to engage in lawsuits on behalf of Americans’ obvious best interests,” Pullman wrote. “It should go without saying that anyone who is scared of lawsuits should not be part of the Trump administration, especially anyone involved in combatting illegal immigration.”

She continued: “Noem has an undeserved reputation for courage because she was the only governor not to shut down her state in the name of Covid. But that reputation is completely undeserved. The truth is, she attempted to get the power to shut down South Dakota, but the state Legislature refused to give it to her.” (Read more from “‘Coward Who Back-Stabs Her Own Party’: Conservative Outlet Turns on Trump’s DHS Pick” HERE)

House Rejects Move to Force Impeachment Vote on DHS Secretary Mayorkas

House lawmakers rejected an effort to force a vote on impeaching Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Monday, instead referring the resolution introduced by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to the House Homeland Security Committee.

Eight Republicans joined all Democrats in the 209-201 vote to send the impeachment resolution to the House panel, which is already probing Mayorkas over his handling of the crisis at the southern border.

“Impeachment articles against Mayorkas have been collecting dust in committee for months. It’s time to move the vote to the House floor, not send it back to committee,” Greene argued in an X post moments before the vote.

Voting against the impeachment effort were Republican Reps. Ken Buck (R-Colo.), Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), Tom McClintock (R-Calif.), Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), John Duarte (R-Calif.), Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), Cliff Bentz (R-Ore.) and Mike Turner (R-Ohio). . .

The lower chamber was forced to vote on Greene’s measure after she introduced it on the House floor Thursday as a “privileged resolution,” forcing leadership to take action on the legislation within two legislative days. U.S. Senator Identifies ‘Gravest Terrorist Threat’ to America

Joe Biden’s “open border,” the result of his decision on taking office to trash the southern border security programs instituted by President Donald Trump, is the “gravest terrorist threat” to the United States, according to a senator.

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., said in a report at the Washington Examiner that there have been thousands of illegal aliens from “special interest” nations, those with ties to terrorist groups, arrested at that border since Biden took office.

Cotton said that means undoubtedly terrorists already have arrived in the U.S.

“It only took 19 al-Qaida operatives to kill nearly 3,000 Americans on September 11, 2001,” said Cotton, of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Criminal Justice and Counterterrorism. “Many, many times that number of known terrorists have surely crossed our southern border since Joe Biden took office. His open border is the gravest terrorist threat to the U.S. homeland.” (Read more from “U.S. Senator Identifies ‘Gravest Terrorist Threat’ to America” HERE)

Impeaching Mayorkas Gains Momentum Among Key House Republicans

Calls among House Republicans to begin impeachment proceedings against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have grown after a week of chaotic and record-breaking illegal migration activity at the southern border.

Several members of the House Judiciary Committee, the committee responsible for conducting impeachments, say they support moving forward with the process.

“He should be impeached as soon as humanly possible,” Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) told reporters on Tuesday.

Rep. Ben Cline (R-VA) told Breitbart News, “I support beginning impeachment hearings. I’ve said that to chairman [Jim] Jordan. My constituents think it’s long overdue, and I feel as though once we lay out the facts for the American people and for my colleagues in the House, it’ll be inevitable.”

Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL) said in a statement, “Mayorkas has done more to help the cartels and child traffickers than he has to help the American people. It is clear he is intentionally violating the law and he must be impeached.” (Read more from “Impeaching Mayorkas Gains Momentum Among Key House Republicans” HERE)

Report: Big Tech Had Regular Meetings With DHS on Censoring Americans

Executives from Facebook and Twitter, including the recently-fired head of trust & safety Vijaya Gadde, held regular meetings with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to discuss censorship on a wide range of topics, including the withdrawal from Afghanistan, coronavirus, and “racial justice,” according to leaked documents.

The information came to light via leaks to the Intercept, as well as documents and minutes revealed through Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt’s lawsuit filed against the Biden Administration that alleges government collusion with Big Tech to suppress Americans’ First Amendment rights.

According to the material, DHS plans to target alleged misinformation around “the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, racial justice, U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the nature of U.S. support to Ukraine.”

The report also reveals an official process for the government to flag “misinformation” to Facebook. (Read more from “Report: Big Tech Had Regular Meetings With DHS on Censoring Americans” HERE)

Republicans Announce Bill to Shut Down DHS ‘Disinformation’ Unit

Republicans announced legislation Tuesday to defund the Homeland Security Department’s new disinformation board, calling it an “un-American” attempt to police what people are allowed to say.

Biden administration officials have rejected those characterizations as overheated. They said the board is an in-house working group to coordinate Homeland Security’s online monitoring.

Those assurances have failed to quell the furor among Republicans, who see more nefarious intentions of the administration, and they are taking their case to the public.

“This is communism,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Georgia Republican, told voters, drawing nods of approval as she campaigned in her district this week. “They don’t want you to have it because they don’t want you to be able to say what you think and feel or sort out the truth yourself.”

The Disinformation Governance Board was revealed by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in congressional testimony last week, though it apparently has been operating for several months. (Read more from “Republicans Announce Bill to Shut Down DHS ‘Disinformation’ Unit” HERE)

DHS Secretly Videotaping Citizens to Do This

Traveling through the T. F. Green Airport of Providence, Rhode Island?

If so, the Department of Homeland Security may be collecting video of you as part of a project to sniff out behavioral indicators of “malicious intent” . . .

On Tuesday, the DHS quietly released online a “privacy impact assessment” that provides the legal justification for an ongoing experiment it is calling “Data Collection for the Centralized Hostile Intent Project.”

The 14-page document, reviewed in full by WND, reveals the DHS’ Science and Technology Directorate will conduct an exercise at the Providence airport at an undisclosed date.

The DHS is planning to collect video images at designated areas throughout the airport, including at TSA security checkpoints, ticket counters, baggage claim and the airport entrance. No audio will be recorded at any time, states the document. (Read more from “DHS Secretly Videotaping Citizens to Do This” HERE)

Watch Trey Gowdy’s Warning to Democrats on Immigration: ‘Be Careful What You Do…’

By Pete Kasperowicz. Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) on Wednesday warned Democrats and others that their support for President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration will only undermine the rule of law, potentially in ways they’ll regret years from now.

“You may benefit from the president’s failure to enforce the law today,” Gowdy said at a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Obama’s action.

“But I’ll make you this promise,” he warned. “There will come a day where you will cry out for the enforcement of the law. There will come a day when you long for the law to be the foundation of this republic.”

“So you be careful what you do with the law today, because if you weaken it today, you weaken it forever,” he concluded.

Republicans have been fighting all week to defund Obama’s action, which Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) called “one of the biggest constitutional power grabs ever by a president.” (Read more about the warning to Democrats on immigration HERE)

Obama Pressing Republicans on Homeland Security Funding

By Julie Hirschfeld Davis. President Obama called on congressional Republicans on Wednesday to renew financing for the Department of Homeland Security and promised to veto any measure that tried to gut his executive actions on immigration.

“Instead of trying to hold hostage funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which is so important for our national security, fund that, and let’s get on with actually passing comprehensive immigration reform,” Mr. Obama told about 270 people at a town-hall-style meeting at Florida International University.

He was referring to Republican efforts to block his immigration plans while still financing most of the department. Their idea is to prevent any money, whether through the appropriations process or through fees collected from immigration applications, from being used for any of the president’s existing or future executive actions on immigration. Homeland Security financing will expire on Friday unless Congress passes, and Mr. Obama signs, a bill to continue providing it.

If Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the majority leader, and the House speaker, John A. Boehner of Ohio, “want to have a vote on whether what I’m doing is legal or not, they can have that vote,” Mr. Obama said. “I will veto that vote.” (Read more about the homeland security funding HERE)

Document: Homeland Security Predicts Rise of 'Anti-Government' Violence

A leaked document from the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis predicts increased “anti-government violence over the next year.” The document says the inspiration for violence is Cliven Bundy’s Bunkerville standoff with the Bureau of Land Management from earlier in the year.

DHS’s seven-page report entitled Domestic Violent Extremists Pose a Threat to Government Officials and Law Enforcement points to the recent murders of two Las Vegas law enforcement officers as evidence that there is a “growing trend of anti-government violence compared to the previous four years and inspired by perceived government overreach and oppression” and the “perceived victory at Bunkervile” will “likely prompt more violence.”

Bundy’s 20-year legal dispute with the BLM over grazing fees on federal land escalated when the agency attempted to seize his cattle in the beginning of April. An armed stand off between the BLM and supporters of Bundy ensued until the feds backed off before any serious violence erupted and left the 67-year-old rancher’s land.
