President Trump Has a New Chief of Staff

President Trump announced Friday night North Carolina Congressman Mark Meadows will serve as his next chief of staff. Current and Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney has been appointed to a diplomatic position overseas.

“I am pleased to announce that Congressman Mark Meadows will become White House Chief of Staff. I have long known and worked with Mark, and the relationship is a very good one,” Trump tweeted Friday evening. “I want to thank Acting Chief Mick Mulvaney for having served the Administration so well. He will become the United States Special Envoy for Northern Ireland. Thank you!”

Mulvaney was President Trump’s third chief of staff, serving in the position after General John Kelly and former RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. He took the position in December 2018. (Read more from “President Trump Has a New Chief of Staff” HERE)

WATCH: Liberals Mocked President Trump for Saying Coronavirus Mortality Rate Was Lower Than Initially Reported

By The Blaze. Liberals, like the Daily Show’s Trevor Noah, mocked President Donald Trump when he argued the coronavirus’ mortality rate was likely lower than the 3.4% estimate offered by the World Health Organization. Film producer Andy Ostroy called the president a “gaslighting sociopath” and “reckless,” while Vox’s Aaron Rupar accused Trump of spreading a “blizzard of dangerous misinformation.” But now a senior health official says the president is probably right.

At a press briefing on Friday morning, Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary Admiral Brett Giroir declared, “The best estimates now of the overall mortality rate for COVID-19 is somewhere between 0.1% and 1%.”

Giroir noted the figure is “lower than you heard probably in many reports,” but that the real mortality rate is “not likely in the range of 2% to 3%.” . . .

Giroir cited several reasons for why health officials believe the actual mortality rate for COVID-19 is likely significantly lower than 3.4%. He listed first that the real number of people who have been infected with the virus is harder to track and likely much larger. As the denominator (number of people with the disease) goes up, overall mortality rate goes down. Trump Praises CDC Amid Coronvirus Outbreak, Calls Washington Governor ‘a Snake’ During Visit to Agency

By USA Today. President Donald Trump tried to calm nerves amid the global outbreak of coronavirus while touring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta on Friday, but the visit took a political turn after he slammed Washington state’s Democratic governor who is grappling with the rapidly growing epidemic.

Trump said he warned Vice President Mike Pence not to trust Gov. Jay Inslee during his Thursday visit to Washington state, which has been among the hardest hit areas across the U.S. with 10 deaths reported so far. Inslee previously ran for the Democratic presidential nominee and has in the past been critical of the president.

“I told Mike not to be complimentary of that governor because that governor is a snake,” he told reporters while donning a “Keep America Great” hat at the CDC in Atlanta. “We have a lot of problems with the governor.”

In a series of tweets Friday evening, Inslee said: “My single focus is and will continue to be the health and well-being of Washingtonians,” adding that “the vice president’s visit and our teams are working well together.” (Read more from “Trump Praises CDC Amid Coronvirus Outbreak, Calls Washington Governor ‘a Snake’ During Visit to Agency” HERE)

WATCH: Journalists Spread Fake News About Coronavirus and Trump… Again

By Daily Caller. Journalists used Twitter to spread fake news about President Donald Trump and the coronavirus, falsely reporting that he suggested it was okay to go to work if you have the illness.

Trump’s statement came during a Wednesday interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity. Trump said that many people with the coronavirus could have a mild form of it. He added that many would “get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work. Some of them go to work, but they get better.”

Huffpost wrote an article about the comments and included a viral tweet from Matt Rogers, the chief strategist of Politidope, Inc., a for-profit social impact organization.

Rogers’s tweet included a clip of Trump speaking about the virus. He claimed that the president was “telling the country it’s okay to go to work with Coronavirus.” The clip shows Trump saying that people do go to work, not instructing them to go to work. . .

MSNBC host Chris Hayes used Rogers’s viral tweet as well. He tweeted Roger’s comments and warned people not to go to work with coronavirus. Bob Cesca, director and political commentator, also doubled down on the claim using Roger’s tweet.

Trump Says He Still Has to Shake Hands, Despite Coronavirus Concerns

By NPR. President Trump, a self-professed germophobe, said Thursday night that despite concerns over transmitting the coronavirus, he will continue to shake hands with people.

At a town hall meeting in Scranton, Penn., televised by Fox, Trump was asked if he has made any changes to his habits since the outbreak.

Trump responded that “if there was ever a time where you convince people not to shake hands this could be it.” But Trump went on, “you can’t be a politician and not shake hands.”

In fact, health experts say shaking hands is a practice best avoided as it can easily transmit viruses from one person to the next. (Read more from “Trump Says He Still Has to Shake Hands, Despite Coronavirus Concerns” HERE)

What Could Go Wrong? Lindsey Graham Leading Group Called to WH — to Talk About Amnesty

Republican voters chose Donald Trump as their nominee, partly inspired by his famous “escalator speech” at Trump Tower decrying how the American people always come last in immigration, as illegal aliens take advantage of us. They voted to reject Lindsey Graham’s view, a view that would tell “bigots” like Trump to “shut up,” in the words of the South Carolina senator.

Fox News reported today that Lindsey Graham led a group of senators from both parties to meet with the president on how to respond to a potential court ruling validating Trump’s elimination of Obama’s illegal executive amnesty. The story comes on the heels of the news that Graham is working with others in the administration to push for a mass amnesty bill.

There are so many grievances the American taxpayer have with illegal immigration that require immediate action. Where is the sense of urgency to meet on an immediate sanctuary fix, criminal alien fix, or judicial amnesty fix? Courts are ordering the opening of our borders during a time of pandemic, yet there is no impetus from these senators to deal with the issue. Why are the American needs on the issue always last or relegated to vacuous campaign rally rhetoric, while the amnesty for illegal aliens is always the first and only focus in the real legislation they plan to enact?

Why is there no emergency to deal with all of the identity theft committed by DACA recipients and all of the gang members and drug traffickers among them? Remember, it’s not usually the older illegal aliens committing all the crime. As with any demographic, it’s the younger ones.

After repeating this mistake over and over again, shouldn’t we finally put enforcement of current laws before any amnesty this time? Isn’t that a baseline expectation we should be guaranteed during the Trump presidency?

The courts have destroyed so much of our rule of law, society, and policies we’ve fought hard for. Why is it that the only time there is a clamor for a legislative “fix” of a judicial decision is when the court actually rules properly and in our favor? What about an Obergefell fix? A Roe fix? Or a fix of any number of court rulings that are ensuring more illegal aliens come here, remain here, commit crimes with impunity, and collect benefits?

Why would someone like Lindsey Graham be the leader on this issue when voters picked Trump precisely to reject people like him and what he stands for? Why does it seem that, in Orwellian fashion, at every turn, we see the swampiest parts of the swamp propped up in the White House that was supposed to drain it?

Even if one supports some sort of an amnesty yet again, this is the wrong way to do it. “We got called over,” Graham told Politico. “I think the president will win in court on DACA that he can set aside the Obama-era DACA rules, then what do you do? I mean if you’re going to give them legal status I hope we get something for it.”

Well, gee, Lindsey, this has been the problem from day one. When you show the other side that you are desperate to give them the amnesty and that you believe in it as strongly as they do, what sort of leverage do you then have to say, “Pretty please, give us something for it?”

As Trump wrote in “The Art of the Deal,” “The worst thing you can possibly do in a deal is seem desperate to make it. That makes the other guy smell blood, and then you’re dead.”

At least if you are going to exalt the dreams of illegal aliens over those of Americans, make sure to enact enforcement measures first this time. Moreover, while they might be here through no fault of their own, it certainly is through no fault of the American taxpayers, who must deal with the costs in their communities. It’s the fault of these very politicians who broke our laws and their side of the bargain in 1986 that enabled this cycle to repeat itself and these people to be brought here in the first place.

This is part of a broader problem we are seeing on multiple issues.

Rather than pushing endless anti-crime measures at a time of rising crime and listening to the voices of law enforcement and prosecutors, Trump is being convinced to hand over criminal justice policy to Kim Kardashian and literally espouse views that are the opposite of what he’s said his entire life, including even today.

Rather than constantly fighting for the American worker at a time when China and India are keeping us out of our own jobs and engaging in trade theft, there is a unanimous clamor from the White House to bring in more foreign workers.

E-verify was dropped from the White House’s plan. Members of the administration are working with Graham and Tillis on a sperate amnesty for 3.3 million illegal aliens who claim to illegally work in agriculture. They are expanding H-2 low skilled visas more than any other administration. Rather than ending TPS, it has been extended indefinitely for the countries that have the most illegal aliens here benefitting from that status.

There have certainly been good policies implemented as well, such as the public charge rule. But that reveals the broader problem we face: a schizophrenic administration. The policies reflect the divergent goals of competing voices.

But at some point, you can’t have it both ways. It’s either the vision of Trump’s escalator speech or the vision of Lindsey Graham. Either Americans are dreamers, or only illegal aliens are. At some point, Trump is going to have to decide for himself.

As Elijah told Israel, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” ~1 Kings 18:21

Joe Biden REALLY Thinks President Trump Is Afraid of Him; Opinion: If Dems Pick Biden to Face Trump, ‘Hallelujah Because Donald Trump Is Going to Kick His Butt’

By Breitbart. Democratic presidential hopeful former Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday on MSNBC that President Donald Trump “risked his presidency” because he did not want to face him in the general election.

Biden was referencing the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives’ articles of impeachment against Trump for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, which were voted down by the Republican-controlled Senate. . .

Biden said, “I don’t think the president wants to face me. I will beat him, period. Period. He’s done everything in his power— he’s even risked his presidency because he doesn’t want to face me.” (Read more from “Joe Biden Thinks President Trump Is Afraid of Him” HERE)

Jason Chaffetz: If Dems Pick Biden to Face Trump, ‘Hallelujah Because Donald Trump Is Going to Kick His Butt’

By Fox News. Former Utah congressman and Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz said on “Outnumbered Overtime” on Wednesday that if Democrats are going to choose former Vice President Joe Biden as their nominee then “hallelujah because Donald Trump is going to kick his butt.”

The former Chairman of the House Oversight Committee reacted after Biden won ten of 14 state primaries on Super Tuesday, surging to victory in a series of contests across the South and beyond, while Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., claimed a sizable win in delegate-rich California, setting up a battle between the two men that is likely to drag on for weeks, or longer.

“In terms of messaging, you can’t have somebody who fumbles the ball more than Joe Biden so if that’s the messenger, it’s a messenger from the past, it’s not vibrant, it’s not exciting, it’s not the future and it is embarrassing to watch on a daily basis,” Chaffetz said.

“I think Donald Trump is stronger politically than he’s ever been before,” Chaffetz added on Wednesday. “If he plays his A-game, I think he will dominate and win by a bigger margin than he beat Hillary Clinton [by]. There were a lot of Republicans that didn’t vote for Donald Trump, and I think he gets nearly 100 percent of the Republicans going into the election.” (Read more from “Jason Chaffetz: If Dems Pick Biden to Face Trump, ‘Hallelujah Because Donald Trump Is Going to Kick His Butt'” HERE)

WATCH: Mike Bloomberg INSISTS He Would’ve Beaten President Trump; Inside Bloomberg’s Half-Billion-Dollar Belly Flop

By The Blaze. Failed Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg gave up on his White House bid Wednesday after a dismal showing on Super Tuesday, but the former New York mayor still believes he “would’ve beaten [President] Donald Trump in November” if only he could have won his party’s nomination. . .

During his farewell speech, Bloomberg told an audience of supporters, “This really is the best, most creative, most hardworking campaign team ever assembled. And I have to say, there is no doubt in my mind we would’ve beaten Donald Trump in November.”

Bloomberg added, “And you know who else knows that? Donald Trump. He’s been scared stiff of us and for good reason.”

According to NPR, Mr. Bloomberg, a billionaire, ran “the most expensive self-funded campaign ever” in his pursuit of the Oval Office, shelling out more than $500 million just in advertising ahead of Super Tuesday. But his big spending did not pay off — Bloomberg failed to win a single state on Tuesday, only securing U.S. territory American Samoa. Inside Bloomberg’s Half-Billion-Dollar Belly Flop

By Politico. Mike Bloomberg left the West Palm Beach ballroom where his campaign held an upbeat Super Tuesday party feeling deflated but resolute. He knew the results coming in from across the country looked increasingly grim. But he wanted to assess the final count in the light of day before deciding whether to end his short-lived bid for the White House. . .

Bloomberg started with a record-breaking ad buy of $34 million. The blitz was aimed at attracting African-American and Latino voters, two demographic groups key to winning the nomination. It was his means of catching up with those at the top of the Democratic ticket and for a while, polls showed that it may have worked in his favor: By the end of January,he polled in double digits, just behind Elizabeth Warren. By mid-February, he was the top choice among 20 percent of black voters.

He spent nearly $200 million in Super Tuesday states, including more than $30 million in the South, but he crossed the 15 percent threshold in just two Southern states.

He reasoned that he could skip the first four voting states in favor of delegate-rich ones that vote on Super Tuesday. In recent weeks, at least two high-ranking campaign advisers have privately questioned his decision not to compete in South Carolina, where they believe he could have done well. Trump Administration Reverses Obama-Era Regulation Responsible for Coronavirus Testing Roadblock; Trump Administration Issues New Guidance for Nursing Homes to Combat Coronavirus

By Daily Caller. The Trump administration has rolled back a Food And Drug Administration rule instituted by President Barack Obama that has stalled coronavirus testing at the state level.

The rule in question previously required state-run laboratories to only run medical tests pre-approved by the F.D.A.

Commissioner Stephen Hahn first addressed the testing problem on Saturday by issuing new guidance that would allow the state labs to conduct not-yet-approved coronavirus testing on patients in response to the public health emergency. In return for skirting the Obama-era regulation, laboratories must apply for an F.D.A. review of the new test, document the test’s accuracy and notify the F.D.A. of the test’s validity prior to F.D.A. completing the approval process.

“We believe this policy strikes the right balance during this public health emergency,” said FDA Commissioner Stephen M. Hahn of the rule change. “We will continue to help to ensure sound science prior to clinical testing and follow-up with the critical independent review from the FDA, while quickly expanding testing capabilities in the U.S.” (Read more from “Trump Administration Reverses Obama-Era Regulation Responsible for Coronavirus Testing Roadblock” HERE)

Trump Administration Issues New Guidance for Nursing Homes to Combat Coronavirus

By The Hill. The Trump administration on Wednesday issued new guidance to prioritize inspection efforts at nursing homes around the country in an attempt to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.

Vice President Pence met with nursing home and long-term care industry leaders at the White House on Wednesday morning as part of ongoing outreach between the government and businesses affected by the virus.

The administration later distributed updated protocols to ensure nursing homes are taking proper measures to limit the transmission of the disease among one of the most vulnerable populations.

“We have raised the bar involving infectious disease control at our nursing homes,” Pence told reporters at a press briefing.

The government is reallocating its inspection resources to focus specifically on whether nursing homes are complying with infection control standards, Pence said. Surveyors typically also monitor for issues such as abuse and neglect during inspection. (Read more from “Trump Administration Issues New Guidance for Nursing Homes to Combat Coronavirus” HERE)

Trump’s COVID-19 Response Will Make Or Break His 2020 Reelection Bid

A week ago, Tucker Carlson warned that the outbreak of the novel coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China in 2019, COVID-19, could put Bernie Sanders in the White House. Carlson is right. President Trump’s response to COVID-19, rhetorical and actual, will make or break his presidency. . .

With Trump’s tweet, among others, came the general feeling that the White House wasn’t taking COVID-19 very seriously. Of course, Democrats and some in the media are attempting to use the virus for political gain. First, they said the Trump administration had cut coronavirus funding at the Centers for Disease Control—except that is totally untrue. Democrats have also tried to say that Vice President Mike Pence isn’t qualified to lead Trump’s coronavirus taskforce—except that Pence is incredibly qualified.

The White House response thus far hasn’t been perfect, however. There’s been a concerning trend of conservative pundits and TV doctors dismissing fears about COVID-19 as media-induced hysteria. TV doctors can rant all they want about how dumb it is for the public to react to the virus, but people have reason to be worried. Markets have a good reason to be worried as well. . .

All this is to say that the economic implications of COVID-19 are extremely serious. The stock market may bounce back quickly, but equities could keep going lower and the global economy could contract in 2020. . .

Yet the White House could be reacting even more strongly. Why should non-citizen Italians be able to fly to the United States from Italy while the virus is breaking out in that country, for example? Boris Johnson gets it. He’s set up a coronavirus “War Room.” (Read more from “Trump’s COVID-19 Response Will Make Or Break His 2020 Reelection Bid” HERE)

Crickets From Green Groups as Trump Makes U.S. ‘Global Leader in Emissions Reductions’

Under President Trump, the United States led the world in reducing carbon-dioxide emissions in 2019, but don’t expect Greta Thunberg to give him a hug any time soon.

International Energy Agency data released earlier this month showing that U.S. emissions dropped by 2.9% last year failed to make an impression with Democrats, environmentalists and climate activists, who either shrugged off the data or argued that Mr. Trump’s climate-denialism was somehow thwarted.

“U.S. carbon emissions declined last year in spite of every effort by the Trump administration to prop up dirty energy,” said David Doniger, senior strategic director of the Climate & Clean Energy Program at the National Resources Defense Council, in an email. . .

At the same time, the climate skeptics who have backed Mr. Trump’s push to boost coal, bring back manufacturing, and pull out of the Paris agreement warned against doing backflips over the continued U.S. decline in greenhouse gases.

Myron Ebell, director of the Center for Energy and the Environment at the free-market Competitive Enterprise Institute, said that cheering the reduction surrenders the field to the climate-change movement. Denver Councilwoman Tweets ‘Solidarity’ With Spreading Coronavirus at Trump Rallies

By Washington Examiner. A Denver city councilwoman appeared to cheer on a message about spreading the coronavirus at one of President Trump’s rallies.

Councilwoman Candi CdeBaca, a Democrat, enthusiastically responded last week to a tweet that featured a graphic that said, “For the record, if I do get the coronavirus I’m attending every MAGA rally I can.”

Her quote tweet said, “#solidarity Yaaaas!!” along with five emojis, three of which were faces laughing so hard that they were crying.

The councilwoman later responded to a reporter’s tweet, saying, “1. Are you listening to ANYTHING Trump has said about the virus? 2. Do you realize Trump reduced the virus to a common flu? 3. I know sarcasm is hard to read in a tweet, but you are usually a bit quicker than this. Next time I will use more emoji’s just 4 you.” (Read more from “Denver Councilwoman Tweets ‘Solidarity’ With Spreading Coronavirus at Trump Rallies” HERE)

Trump Administration Considering Paying for Uninsured Coronavirus Patients’ Medical Care: Report

By The Hill. The Trump administration is considering paying the cost of care for uninsured patients with the coronavirus using a national disaster reimbursement program, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The program allows the federal government to pay hospitals and other medical providers about 110 percent of Medicare rates for patients affected by natural disasters such as hurricanes.

Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response Dr. Robert Kadlec said Tuesday at a congressional hearing that officials are in talks about using the National Disaster Medical System’s reimbursement program.

The number of people who had no insurance at any point during the year rose in 2018 to 8.5 percent, or 27.5 million, up from 2017 when it was 25.6 million, or 7.9 percent. Hospitals provided more than $38 billion in uncompensated care in 2017, according to the Journal, citing the American Hospital Association (AHA).
