Nothing to See Here: Networks Silent on Attempted Stabbing of GOP Candidate by Anti-Trump Attacker

Well, the congressional race in California’s 15th congressional district took a violent turn; someone tried to stab the Republican candidate, who successfully defended himself. Leah wrote about this earlier this morning. The race is between incumbent Democrat Eric Swalwell and Rudy Peters. Peters survived the attack, using a campaign sign to thwart is assaulter. Farzad Fazeli was arrested on a slew of charges, including felony assault, brandishing a weapon, and possession of a switchblade. CBS San Francisco interviewed Peters after the attempted assault. (via Sacramento Bee):

U.S. House of Representatives hopeful Rudy Peters was “minding his own business with his family” at his campaign booth during the Castro Valley Fall Festival just before 4 p.m. when a man came up and began insulting Peters’ political party and the president, Sgt. Ray Kelly, a spokesman for the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, told McClatchy.

That’s when the interaction grew violent: The man making disparaging comments, Farzad Fazeli, 35, became “aggressive,” pulled out a switchblade and tried to attack Peters, the sheriff’s office said. Kelly said Fazeli may have also thrown a glass mug at the candidate.

But the knife malfunctioned, “in part because Mr. Peters was able to defend himself and stop the suspect from deploying the knife,” Kelly said.

Kelly said Peters used a campaign sign to defend himself during the struggle.

Trump Derangement Syndrome: Disgraced Ex-Dem Senator Suggests Giving POTUS the Wrong Nuclear Codes

Yeah, he’s a comedian. Yes, he’s out of office, but it just adds another chapter to the Left’s ever-entertaining meltdown over the presidency of Donald J. Trump. At the same time, I have to give a hat tip to Al Franken. The man has evidently reached the point of screw it with this tweet. I don’t like it, but it’s gutsy—for all the wrong reasons. On the flip side, take it like this: Trump lives rent free in some liberals’ heads.

“How dangerous is Trump? It’s not the time for Mattis to tell Trump that he’s taking the nuclear codes away from him. It’s time for Mattis to give him the wrong codes,” he wrote.

Yeah, he’s dangerous because…he beat Hillary Clinton? That’s the benchmark for dangerous in Democratic minds? When it comes to acting like petulant children, Democrats will always take the lead, no matter how bad the GOP becomes. Trump beat Hillary therefore a constitutional crisis, therefore dangerous, therefore, we need to impeach, but if we can’t—give him the wrong nuclear codes. Franken is so late to this party; the apocalyptic nuclear war started because of his Twitter account has come and gone. President Trump vs Traitors, Liars and Cowards: Who Will Win the Championship Rounds?

When I was a college boxer, before the last two rounds my trainer would say to me, “Let’s go! Championship rounds — give me everything you got.”

My opponent and I would come out of our corners and give everything we had, throwing our hardest punches, desperately trying to take the other guy out.

We are now into the championship rounds of the fight between President Donald Trump and the Mueller coup. They will be throwing everything they have at the president for the next two months before the final bell sounds on Election Day.

For over a year the Mueller thugs have been pounding Trump’s body, trying to wear him out before the last two rounds. The coup has sent in a motley team of cowards, liars and traitors to deliver the low blows.

Traitor, liar and coward Robert Mueller: using illegal, false evidence to become special counsel, refusing to do the task for which he was appointed, launching an all-out attack on anyone connected to Trump who could be used to overthrow him, framing Trump associates with deceit and outright lies, conducting illegal searches of the president’s lawyers and using impermissible, seized evidence, grinding those he could use against the president by threats of additional charges and prison, bankruptcy, destruction of personal reputation, using the threats to force them into making false statement about Trump, coercing guilty pleas from innocent people and then forcing them to cooperate with the coup, illegally releasing grand jury testimony.

Traitor, liar and coward Rod Rosenstein: orchestrating the Russian investigation by using false documents, paid for by the Clinton machine, to deceive FISA judges into issuing illegal warrants against Trump associates, signing illegal FISA warrants for Trump associates, lying to Congress and to the president.

Traitor, liar and coward James Comey: lying to the president and Congress, creating elaborate schemes of lies and deceit to entrap Trump associates, using threats and plea bargains to coerce Trump associates into working against him, using ill-gotten evidence to create a secret FBI operation, using the secret operation to help the DOJ build a case for a special prosecutor, leaking the Russian dossier to the media to make sure a special prosecutor would be appointed.

Traitor, liar and coward Jeff Sessions: lying to the president to become attorney general, turning over the Russian investigation to a Trump-hating special counsel, announcing he will do the same with the Clinton felonies, hindering congressional investigations into the coup, refusing to resign, refusing to fire Rosenstein and Mueller, protecting all of the coup operatives, arresting two key Republican congressmen just before the midterm elections to put their seats in doubt.

There are other traitors, liars, and cowards who also slithered into the ring from time to time to deliver their venomous blows. Among these other malcontents: Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Bruce Ohr, James Clapper, Andrew McCabe, John Brennan.

Now come the potentially devastating head shots of the championship rounds. The coup is going for a knockout while Trump will try to effectively counter-punch to stay on his feet until the final bell on Election Day.

First into the ring for the coup is the liar and coward Bob Woodward.

The coup sent Woodard into the ring to throw the first big headshot at Trump — his book of blatant lies, “Fear: Trump in the White House.”

Among the lies contained in Woodward’s book are:

1. Former chief economic advisor, Gary Cohn, stole a draft letter from Trump’s desk that would have withdrawn the United States from a trade agreement with South Korea. Woodward quotes Cohn, “I stole it off his desk. I wouldn’t let him see it. He’s never going to see that document. Got to protect the country.”

2. Trump’s former defense attorney, John Dowd, put Trump through a mock interview with Robert Mueller. Dowd did this because he didn’t think Trump could tell the truth. Dowds said, after the mock interview, “Don’t testify. It’s either that or an orange jump suit.”

3. Trump’s Chief of Staff, John Kelly, said about Trump, “He’s an idiot. It’s pointless to try to convince him of anything. He’s gone off the rails. We’re in crazytown.”

4. Trump said about Jeff Sessions, “This guy is mentally retarded,” and, “a dumb Southerner,” then mocked the way he talks.

5. Trump became enraged when Fox News questioned his “course correction” to tamp down his original comments about the Charlottesville white nationalist rally. He later said to an aide, “This is the biggest f—ing mistake I’ve ever made. You never make these concessions. You never apologize. I didn’t do anything wrong in the first place. Why look weak?”

All these statements have been denied by those alleged to have said, or witnessed, them.

The next liar and coward sent in the ring has no name. The New York Times ran their first anonymous Op-Ed, written, they say, by a senior official in the Trump administration whose name would be readily recognized and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure.

They also say that doing this is was the only way they could deliver this important perspective to the public.

The title of the Op-Ed is, “I am a Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.”

It claims many senior officials in the Trump administration are diligently working to frustrate parts of the president’s agenda and his worst inclinations.

The writer says the members of Resistance are Trump appointees (and apparently not career government employees, which narrows down the list as to the writer’s identity.)

Speculation on who the writer is has reached a level of lunacy, even including Ivanka Trump and Kellyanne Conway.

The Op-Ed tears into Trump in a myriad of ways, clearly designed to do severe damage to him and his presidency. These members of the Resistance were, without a doubt, recruited by the coup.

According to the anonymous writer, the Resistance’s goal is to preserve the country’s democratic institutions and thwart Trump’s misguided impulses which are anti-trade and anti-democratic.

This is a hard and painful headshot landed on the president but, being the fighter he is, he immediately counterpunched this sniveling coward without a name.

These are the coup’s opening head shots in the championship rounds. There are many more coming, each with increasing intensity.

Look for the final, and hardest, shot to be thrown, moments before the final bell, to deny the president the opportunity to counterpunch before the decision is rendered.

After the final bell, the voters will announce the decision and raise the winner’s hand — possibly sealing the fate of the country for years to come. (For more from the author of “President Trump vs Traitors, Liars and Cowards: Who Will Win the Championship Rounds?” please click HERE)

Obama Reminds Us Why Donald Trump Is President

“How hard can that be? Saying that Nazis are bad,” former President Barack Obama asked a crowd in Illinois over the weekend. Well, probably no harder than saying the words “radical Islam,” I imagine. Or maybe it’s slightly less difficult than not sending billions of dollars to Holocaust-denying terror regimes that have both the means and intent to murder Jews—in 2018, not 1942. And it’s definitely a lot easier than not meeting, posing, then smiling for a picture with Louis Farrakhan. But thanks for the lecture.

Obama may well find the presence of a few hundred pathetic white supremacists more perilous than a deadly worldwide ideological movement with millions of adherents. But just as Obama’s sins do not excuse President Trump’s inexplicable answer to the Charlottesville riot, Trump’s words don’t excuse the most divisive modern president, a man whose unilateralism and contempt for the process and the Constitution helped create the environment America now find itself in.

While Obama’s self-reverential speech was crammed with revisionism, the most jaw-dropping contention from the former president was probably a defense of his record on free speech: “I complained plenty about Fox News,” the scandal-ridden Obama explained, “but you never heard me threaten to shut them down, or call them ‘enemies of the people.’”

That’s the thing. We often hear Trump’s hyperbolic, and sometimes destructive, attacks on the press. Thankfully, as of yet the president hasn’t applied the power of the state to inhibit anyone’s free expression. And this is no thanks to liberals’ eight-year efforts to empower the executive branch when that was useful to them.

It’s worth remembering that it was Obama who called out the Supreme Court during a State of the Union speech for defending the First Amendment in the Citizens United case, and his allies who still argue that state should be able to ban political documentaries — and, yes, books. Let’s also not forget Obama’s Internal Revenue Service admitted then apologized for cracking down on conservative political groups. It was the Obama administration that blamed the Benghazi attack on free speech, apologizing to tyrannies for the excesses of free expression, and then, for good measure, threw the amateurish videomaker behind “The Innocence of Muslims” into jail. Lawmakers Call on Trump to Declare Federal Emergency Ahead of Hurricane Florence

Senators and Congressmen from Virginia urged President Trump Monday to declare a federal emergency before Hurricane Florence makes landfall later this week. The congressional delegation wrote in support of Gov. Ralph Northam’s request that a federal emergency be declared.

“A federal emergency declaration would ensure the full availability of federal resources to support the Commonwealth’s efforts to guarantee public safety and rapid recovery from the direct and indirect effects of Hurricane Florence,” they wrote. “Thank you for your consideration of Governor Northam’s request. We look forward to working with you, FEMA, and other relevant federal agencies to ensure that the Commonwealth of Virginia has the resources available to ensure the safety of our constituents.”

Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, along with Reps. Rob Wittman (R), Scott Taylor (R), Bobby Scott (D), A. Donald McEachin (D), Tom Garrett (R), Bob Goodlatte (R), Dave Brat (R), Don Beyer (D), Morgan Griffith (R), Barbara Comstock (R), and Gerry Connolly (D) all signed the letter.

The hurricane has already prompted mandatory evacuation orders in the Carolinas and Virginia. Florence was upgraded twice Monday to a Category 4. It has the potential to become a Category 5 storm, the National Hurricane Center says, and it is expected to make landfall in North or South Carolina by Thursday.

The evacuations in Virginia will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday for about 245,000 residents in part of Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore area.

Miss America Contestant Uses Interview to Slam Trump

By CBS News. A contestant in the Miss America pageant says President Trump “has caused a lot of division” in the nation. Madeline Collins, Miss West Virginia, was asked an onstage question Friday night about what she feels is the most serious issue facing the nation.

“Donald Trump is the biggest issue our country faces,” she said. “Unfortunately he has caused a lot of division in our country.”

The interview responses were limited to 20 seconds and Collins did not go into additional detail. The Miss America Organization rejected a request from The Associated Press to make Collins available for an interview after Friday night’s competition had ended.

She did not win the interview contest. That honor went to Miss Massachusetts Gabriela Taveras, whose question dealt with how Americans traveling abroad should interact with people in other countries. She said it is important to let people in other nations know that, “We as Americans are supporting them and that we are there to help them.”

The onstage interview replaced the swimsuit competition in this year’s pageant, a change that has created controversy among those who feel the pageant needed to be modernized, and those who feel an integral part of the pageant is being sacrificed. Miss America Contestant Calls President Trump the ‘Biggest Issue Facing Our Country Today’

By The Washington Post. Things are getting political at the Miss America pageant.

When asked on Friday, the final night of the preliminary competition, what she believed was the most serious issue facing the nation, Madeline Collins, Miss West Virginia, name-checked the leader of the free world. . .

Ultimately, Collins lost the interview portion of the contest to Miss Massachusetts, Gabriela Taveras, who fielded a question about how Americans traveling abroad should interact with foreigners. We should let them know that “we as Americans are supporting them and that we are there to help them,” she suggested, according to the Associated Press. John Kerry Attacks President Trump

By Washington Times. Former Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday said President Trump’s recently lamenting the indictments of two Republican congressmen so close to the midterm elections demonstrates that Mr. Trump doesn’t understand America or how the country’s justice system is supposed to work.

Mr. Kerry said Mr. Trump chastised Attorney General Jeff Sessions for “following the law” after the Justice Department recently announced charges being brought against GOP Reps. Chris Collins and Duncan Hunter, two early supporters of the president, and that the president put the charges in the context of how they could affect the midterm elections.

“You have a president who clearly doesn’t understand America, doesn’t understand the Constitution, doesn’t understand the role of the Justice Department, the separation of powers, and that’s dangerous,” Mr. Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, said on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS.”

Mr. Trump tweeted last week that Democrats must “love” Mr. Sessions now.

“Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department. Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff……” the president tweeted. (Read more from “John Kerry Attacks President Trump” HERE)

Trump Policy on Iran ‘Dangerous and Ill-Advised,’ Kerry Says

By Politico. Former Secretary of State John Kerry said Sunday that President Donald Trump’s decision to pull out of the Iran nuclear agreement he helped negotiate was “dangerous and ill-advised.”

Speaking on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS,” Kerry called the deal the “single strongest, single most accountable, single most transparent nuclear agreement anywhere in the world,” saying Trump had mucked everything up by exaggerating the importance of potential long-term problems.

“I think it’s a very dangerous and ill-advised move that is not based on any broad strategy,” said Kerry, who served under President Barack Obama and has been a target of Trump’s criticism.

Kerry was a key negotiator on the agreement, which was designed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and which also included the world’s other leading powers, including Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia. He said that the U.S. withdrawal from the deal had empowered Iran’s hard-liners in their criticism of the United States as untrustworthy. Obama Takes Direct Shot at Trump, Calls Him out by Name Publicly for First Time Since Leaving Office

After taking a few indirect swipes at his successor since leaving office last year, Barack Obama mentioned President Donald Trump by name for the first time in public at an event in Illinois on Friday.

According to The Hill, his address took place at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and focused on the deep division within American politics and society.

He said some of the tension is being caused by frustrated Americans who are “genuinely, if wrongly, fearful of change,” but attributed a more sinister motive to much of the rest of the nation’s socioeconomic tension and resentment.

“More often it’s manufactured by the powerful and the privileged who want to keep us divided and keep us angry and keep us cynical,” he said. “Because it helps them maintain the status quo and keep their power and keep their privilege.”

He told the students gathered for the address that they “happen to be coming of an age during one of those moments.”

In a remark that drew applause from the audience, Obama said that the current administration is “a symptom, not the cause” of that division.

“It did not start with Donald Trump,” he said.

With the radical changes in technology, culture and elsewhere in recent years, Obama said Trump has been able to use the tactics he described in more effective ways.

“He’s just capitalizing on resentments politicians have been fanning for years,” Obama said. “A fear, an anger that’s rooted in our past, but it’s also born out of the enormous upheavals that have taken place in your brief lifetimes.”

He went on to describe some of the changes he believes many Americans have found loath to accept.

“Think about it,” he said. “You’ve come of age in a smaller, more connected world where demographic shifts and the winds of change have scrambled not only traditional economic arrangements, but our social arrangements and our religious commitments and our civic institutions. Most of you don’t remember a time before 9/11 when you didn’t have to take off your shoes at an airport.”

As The Hill reported, Obama’s address Friday was expected to launch a series of campaign stops during which he will rally for Democrat candidates and policies.

“He will make a pointed case in his speech on Friday, and on the trail this fall, that this moment in our country is too perilous for Democratic voters to sit out,” said Obama spokesperson Katie Hill.

She added that the former president will build on previous concerns he has raised since Trump’s inauguration.

“He will echo his call to reject the rising strain of authoritarian politics and policies,” Hill said. (For more from the author of “Obama Takes Direct Shot at Trump, Calls Him out by Name Publicly for First Time Since Leaving Office” please click HERE)

Reward Posted for Identity of Anonymous Op-Ed Writer – the Amount Is CRAZY

Someone identified as a “prominent Republican donor” is reportedly offering a $50,000 reward for the identity of the person who claims to be a high-ranking member of President Donald Trump’s administration who penned an anonymous Op-Ed piece for the New York Times and claimed they were working to actively protect the country from some of the president’s actions.

Charlie Kirk, founder of the conservative campus activist group Turning Point USA, went on Twitter early Thursday morning to announce the reward offer.

The reward offer comes in reaction to the Op-Ed published Wednesday and titled, “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.” The Times would only identify the writer as “a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us.”

The paper said it was taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed “because we believe it is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers.”

The writer claimed that the “resistance” described in the piece is not the case of a liberal masquerading as a conservative.

“To be clear, ours is not the popular ‘resistance’ of the left,” the writer explains. “We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous.”

Instead, the writer says the actions being taken by multiple people within the White House are being taken to protect the country from the president’s decision-making, which the writer described as amoral, impetuous, petty and ineffective.

“The erratic behavior would be more concerning if it weren’t for unsung heroes in and around the White House,” according to the anonymous writer. “Some of his aides have been cast as villains by the media. But in private, they have gone to great lengths to keep bad decisions contained to the West Wing, though they are clearly not always successful.”

A Twitter user responding to Kirk’s report of a reward being offered suggested that the higher the reward, the more likely the source of the article would be revealed.

The president blasted the Times for running the piece, questioning if the writer actually works within the administration. He also said that if the piece is legitimate, the writer must be identified.

“Does the so-called ‘Senior Administration Official’ really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source?” the president said on Twitter. “If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!”

Thursday, the Times said three high-ranking members of the administration — Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and national intelligence director Dan Coats — have each denied they were the source of the Op-Ed.

“Our office is above such amateur acts,” Pence spokesman Jarrod Agen said on Twitter.

“It is not mine,” Pompeo said.

“Patently false,” said Coats when asked if he or someone on his staff wrote the piece. “We did not.”

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Wednesday the Op-Ed was “another example of the liberal media’s concerted effort to discredit the president.” She also said that if the person who authored the piece is indeed a member of the administration, he or she should resign immediately.

“The individual behind this piece has chosen to deceive, rather than support, the duly elected President of the United States,” Sanders said. “He is not putting country first, but putting himself and his ego ahead of the will of the American people. This coward should do the right thing and resign.” (For more from the author of “Reward Posted for Identity of Anonymous Op-Ed Writer – the Amount Is CRAZY” HERE)

Trump Admin Introduces Plan to Close Illegal Alien Family Detention Loophole

The Trump administration introduced Thursday a new set of rules that would allow the long-term detention of illegal immigrant families and terminate the Flores settlement, a court order the White House says is a major “pull factor” for illegal immigration.

If enacted, the rules would give the Department of Homeland Security broad authority to set standards for the detention and care of illegal immigrant families in its custody.

The most significant change in the 200-page proposal, which will be published in the Federal Register on Friday, would permit the government to keep illegal immigrant families in detention until they are deported or win a favorable decision in immigration court.

“Today, legal loopholes significantly hinder the department’s ability to appropriately detain and promptly remove family units that have no legal basis to remain in the country,” DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said in a statement. “This rule addresses one of the primary pull factors for illegal immigration and allows the federal government to enforce immigration laws as passed by Congress.”

Current detention policy is governed by the Flores consent decree, a 1997 Supreme Court order that requires the government to release unaccompanied alien children from detention to relatives or licensed shelters without unnecessary delay.
