CNN recently asked everyday people in Tehran, Iran, their opinions on Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson (video below).
In the second GOP debate, there was plenty of bad-mouthing Iran, opposition to the nuclear treaty and threats of military action against the Middle East country.
All of the Iranians recognized Trump’s picture, and most had negative comments.
One woman didn’t like Trump’s physical features, while a second woman added, “Yes, I know. I don’t like him. He doesn’t care about the poor people.”
The second woman was shown a picture of Bush and exclaimed, “Oh my god! His father and his brother did a big mess.” (Read more from “Iranian People Give Their Opinions on Donald Trump” HERE)

It took about five minutes for Donald Trump to be mentioned during the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night.
Host Andy Samberg took a shot at the GOP presidential frontrunner during his opening monologue.
“Donald Trump is running for president — to the delight of uncles everywhere,” Samberg joked . . .
Trump was also zinged by Julia Louis Dreyfus during her acceptance speech after winning Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
“What a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight. I’m so sorry. Donald Trump said that,” Dreyfus said. “It’s getting trickier and trickier to satirize this stuff.” (Read more from “Donald Trump Mocked Immediately in Opening Monologue at Emmy’s” HERE)
By Dave Urbanski. Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump replied Saturday to growing criticism over not correcting an audience member’s statement at a rally Thursday that President Obama is a Muslim.
Trump tweeted, “Am I morally obligated to defend the president every time somebody says something bad or controversial about him? I don’t think so!”

Trump Says He’s Not ‘Morally Obligated’ to Defend Obama Against Claims
By Eugene Scott. Donald Trump on Saturday said it is not his job to correct supporters’ claims about the President, defending his decision not to take issue with a man who disparaged Muslims and said President Barack Obama is not an American.
Trump did not dispute the man’s allegations made at a town hall event this week, and added that if someone criticized him to Obama, there would be “no chance” the President would come to his defense.
“Am I morally obligated to defend the president every time somebody says something bad or controversial about him? I don’t think so!” he tweeted Saturday morning . . .
He then followed up by saying Obama would not have defended him in the roles were reversed.
If someone made a nasty or controversial statement about me to the president, do you really think he would come to my rescue? No chance!

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest is denouncing Donald Trump for failing to correct a man at a political rally who said that Obama was a Muslim and not born in America.
“Are we surprised that this happened at a Donald Trump rally?” he asked, claiming Trump’s base was characterized by “offensive views” such as the ones expressed at the rally.
Then Earnest blamed the entire Republican party for failing to stand up to Trump, asserting that none would want to offend the same voters that made up his political base.
“What’s also unfortunate is that Mr. Trump isn’t the first Republican politician to countenance these kinds of views in order to win votes,” Earnest said. “In fact, that’s precisely what every Republican presidential candidate is doing when they decline to denounce Mr. Trump’s cynical strategy.”
Earnest went further, accusing Republicans of defending the Confederate flag and highlighted the racial background of House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise, telling reporters that they also blocked immigration reform and supported reforms to the voting rights act. GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump released a policy outline on Friday detailing his defense of the Second Amendment and firearms ownership.
He also highlighted his possession of a concealed carry permit and firearms that he said were for personal defense.
“The Second Amendment to our constitution is clear,” the Republican front-runner writes in the gun rights platform published online. “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed upon — period.”
It’s the second policy statement provided by Trump, a political newcomer who has dominated the GOP race over the last month but come under increased scrutiny for his policy knowledge.
Trump appeared to confuse the Kurds with Quds, a special forces unit with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, in a recent interview. During Wednesday night’s debate, he acknowledged he needed to learn more about foreign policy, indicating he would do so by the time he was elected. By Maya Rhodan. Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump took questions at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire on Thursday, and the first one came from an audience member who expressed anti-Muslim sentiment.
“We have a problem in this country, it’s called Muslims. Our current President is one. We know he’s not even an American,” the audience member said. “We have training camps growing where they want to kill us. That’s my question, when can we get rid of them?”
In response to that question, which as Trump noted was the first question of the Town Hall, the presidential contender said, “we’re going to be looking at a lot of different things.”
“A lot of people are saying that and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there. We’re going to be looking at that and a lot of different things.” (Read more from “Here’s How Donald Trump Responded to a Person Saying Obama Is Muslim” HERE)

Trump Doesn’t Challenge Man’s Anti-Muslim, Obama Claims in New Hampshire
By Kailani Koenig. Usually, it’s what Donald Trump says that sparks controversy. But Thursday night in New Hampshire, it’s what he didn’t say that is raising eyebrows.
In a sweaty gym in front of about 3,000 fans, Trump declined to correct the first questioner of the night who said President Obama was a Muslim and not a U.S. citizen.
“We have a problem in this country. It’s called Muslims. We know our current president is one. You know he’s not even an American,” the man in the audience said. “We have training camps growing when they want to kill us. My question: When can we get rid of them?” . . .
Trump told the man, “We are going to be looking at a lot of different things. And a lot of people are saying that and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there. We are going to be looking at that and plenty of other things.” (Read more from “Trump Doesn’t Challenge Man’s Anti-Muslim, Obama Claims in New Hampshire” HERE)

By Fox News. Donald Trump once again found himself the lightning rod of the Republican presidential race Wednesday, as he tangled with a debate stage full of rivals trying to position themselves as the best alternative to the GOP front-runner.
The second Republican primary debate veered into serious policy territory – covering everything from Iran to Russia to Planned Parenthood to immigration. But, at times to the visible frustration of candidates trying to stick to those issues, few segments passed without a sparring session between Trump and one of his opponents. Almost every time, Trump hit back – and it was unclear whether any candidate would be able to dent his front-runner status.
The candidate perhaps most eager to knock the billionaire businessman down a peg was former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who lost his lead to Trump over the summer. Repeatedly, Bush challenged Trump on his record and past comments.
He told Trump to apologize to his wife for suggesting her being from Mexico makes Bush more sympathetic to Mexicans – Trump refused.
He accused Trump of once giving him money as he sought casino gambling, unsuccessfully, in Florida. (Read more from “Round 2: GOP Rivals Try to Ding Trump at Debate – Front-Runner Hits Back” HERE)

Let the Sparks Fly: Carly Fiorina Takes on Donald Trump
By MJ Lee. For once, it wasn’t the Donald Trump show.
The billionaire businessman’s uneven performance at CNN’s prime-time Republican presidential debate Wednesday gave Carly Fiorina and Jeb Bush openings to seize the spotlight. And they did, putting Trump in the unusual position of being on defense throughout the evening.
Fiorina, who fought her way onto the main stage with a breakout debate performance last month, pointedly confronted the real estate mogul. She was stern when asked about Trump’s recent assessment of her appearance, when he told Rolling Stone: “Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that?”
Fiorina shot back during the debate: “I think women all over this country heard very clearly what Mr. Trump said.”
The exchange left Trump in an unusual position: uninterested in hitting back. (Read more from this story HERE)
Superbowl champion Tom Brady appeared to at least informally endorse Donald Trump’s candidacy today during a press gaggle in the New England Patriots’ team locker room.
Reporters commented on the quarterback having one of the billionaire candidate’s “Make America Great Again” hats hanging in his locker. Brady said Trump had sent it to him.
Although Brady isn’t yet sure if he’s going to vote for Trump, he seemed to be pulling for him, according to CBS Sports.
Asked if Trump has what it takes to win, the football player responded: “I hope so. That would be great,” adding: “There would be a putting green on the White House lawn. I’m sure of that.”
Brady and Trump have known each other since 2002, when the Patriots quarterback served as a judge at the Miss USA pageant. The pageant is run by the Miss Universe organization, which was partially owned by Trump until he sold it earlier this week. The friendship has now lasted for over a decade, and the two used to regularly play golf before Brady’s kids were born.
In an interview last week, Brady described Trump as “a good friend” and added: “It’s been pretty amazing what he’s been able to accomplish as an entrepreneur and then, really, as a television star, and now he’s running for political office. People who can do those type of things and transition into different arenas and still have that type of appeal and carryover. He’s obviously appealing to a lot of people.” (Read more from “Trump Just Got an Endorsement From One of the Biggest (and Most Controversial) ‘Winners'” HERE)

The Internal Revenue Service revoked the nonprofit status of the veterans benefit organization that hosted and sold tickets to a foreign policy speech by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump aboard a retired U.S. battleship, The Associated Press has learned. The group’s endorsement of Trump at the event also could raise legal problems under campaign finance laws.
Trump’s campaign did not respond to questions from the AP about whether it was aware that the IRS had revoked the nonprofit status of the Veterans for a Strong America, which sold tickets to Trump’s event for up to $1,000 as a fundraiser. The IRS issued its decision Aug. 10, citing the group’s failure to file any tax returns for three consecutive years, according to IRS records reviewed by the AP.
The group’s chairman, Joel Arends of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, said the organization was appealing the IRS decision. He would not provide AP with copies of any tax returns, which would show how much money the group has collected over the years and how it spends its money. By law, such records are supposed to be available to the general public for inspection. (Read more from “Vet Group Hosting Trump Lost Nonprofit Status” HERE)

According to Entertainment Weekly, NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice will not die with the exit of its larger-than-life host. Donald Trump, who left the lucrative gig to pursue the Republican presidential nomination, took a break from the campaign trail to congratulate his successor.
Congrats to my friend @Schwarzenegger who is doing next season’s Celebrity Apprentice. He'll be great & will raise lots of $ for charity.
NBC executive Paul Telegdy announced actor-turned-politico Arnold Schwarzenegger’s addition to the popular franchise as a “powerful new chapter” for Apprentice fans. “Arnold Schwarzenegger is the epitome of a global brand in entertainment and business,” he continued, “and his accomplishments in the political arena speak for themselves.” Telegdy noted that the action star is excited to continue in the tradition established by Trump and Mark Burnett, the series’ executive producer. Burnett explained that Trump “made it clear” he wanted the show to continue in his absence, particularly for the charitable donations it has facilitated. “Gov. Schwarzenegger,” he concluded, “will use his vast and highly successful business, political and media experience to drive this hit franchise to new heights.” The new host released a statement, explaining that he has “always been a huge fan” of the program. “I am thrilled to bring my experience to the boardroom and to continue to raise millions for charity,” he said. “Let’s get started!” The topic was a popular one on Twitter, where users speculated on issues such as the new host’s catchphrase. Trump’s iconic send-off – “You’re fired!” – has transcended the series to become a recurring theme of his surging presidential bid.
@Schwarzenegger So is it going to be "You're fired!" or "Your sentence is commuted!"? Just curious.
