Trump Endorses Speaker Johnson Amid Fight for His Gavel; Gaetz Declares ‘Resistance Is Now Futile’ After Trump Endorses Johnson for Speaker — But Massie, Others Remain Unmoved

By Breitbart. President-elect Donald Trump endorsed Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) Monday morning after leaving Johnson twisting in the wind for 11 days.

Trump posted a 232-word soliloquy on Truth Social touting his electoral romp and attacking Democrats for weaponizing the government against him.

At the very end, he endorsed Johnson for speaker, using his boilerplate endorsement language:

LETS NOT BLOW THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY WHICH WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN. The American people need IMMEDIATE relief from all of the destructive policies of the last Administration. Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN. Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement. MAGA!!!

Trump left Johnson twisting in the wind after December 19, when Johnson failed to deliver on Trump’s desire to lift the debt ceiling as part of a government spending deal. Reports that Trump fumed from Mar-a-Lago, coupled with Trump’s silence as criticism against Johnson rose, cast doubts on Trump’s commitment to Johnson.

Gaetz Declares ‘Resistance Is Now Futile’ After Donald Trump Endorses Mike Johnson for Speaker — But Massie, Others Remain Unmoved

By New York Post. Former firebrand Rep. Matt Gaetz, who instigated the House GOP toppling of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy last year, declared that resistance to House Speaker Mike Johnson “is now futile” in the wake of President-elect Donald Trump’s endorsement.

But that and Trump’s endorsement did nothing to pacify Johnson’s most outspoken House critic, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who had come out in opposition to his speakership bid.

“I respect and support President Trump, but his endorsement of Mike Johnson is going to work out about as well as his endorsement of Speaker Paul Ryan,” Massie replied on X, posting an image of an article detailing Trump’s past support for former House GOP leader Ryan.

“We’ve seen Johnson partner with the democrats to send money to Ukraine, authorize spying on Americans, and blow the budget.”

Massie, 53, who endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the 2024 GOP primary and feuded with Trump in the past, has been peeved at Johnson’s handling of spending fights and last week promised to vote for another speaker. ‘Treacherous’: Trump Slams ‘Dumbest’ Political Decision Made in Years

President-elect Donald Trump is demanding Democrats take a vote on the U.S. debt ceiling immediately, saying the extension of the ceiling is “one of the dumbest political decisions made in years.”

In a statement Sunday evening on Truth Social, Trump indicated:

“The extension of the Debt Ceiling by a previous Speaker of the House, a good man and a friend of mine, from this past September of the Biden Administration, to June of the Trump Administration, will go down as one of the dumbest political decisions made in years.

“There was no reason to do it – NOTHING WAS GAINED, and we got nothing for it – A major reason why that Speakership was lost. (Read more from “‘Treacherous’: Trump Slams ‘Dumbest’ Political Decision Made in Years” HERE)

New Poll Shows How Americans Feel About Trump’s Plan to Put Illegal Aliens in Militarized Camps

President-elect Donald Trump’s immigration promises are popular among a wide swath of Republican voters, according to a new survey released earlier this month.

Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) published the findings of a survey that analyzed, among other things, how voters feel about the idea of placing illegal immigrants into militarized encampments as they await deportation.

The PRRI survey found that about 46 percent of Republican voters support such a policy. About 19 percent of Independents and eight percent of Democrats agree. Overall, about a quarter (26 percent) of Americans support this approach.

On the campaign trail, Trump repeatedly promised to use the U.S., military to round up illegal immigrants and put them in detention camps using the Alien Enemies Act. His pledge came as the nation is facing a continual crisis at the southern border with hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants and asylum seekers trying to enter the country.

These numbers represent a significant drop from when PRRI conducted a similar survey in May 2024. Back then, about 47 percent of all Americans supported militarized camps for illegal immigrants, including 79 percent of Republicans and 47 percent of Independents. Almost a quarter of Democrats (22 percent) agreed with the policy. (Read more from “New Poll Shows How Americans Feel About Trump’s Plan to Put Illegal Aliens in Militarized Camps” HERE)

Report: Trump Team Orders Cabinet Nominees to Cease Social Media Posts Ahead of Confirmation Hearings

President-elect Donald Trump’s team is ordering cabinet nominees to cease all social media posts ahead of their confirmation hearings, according to reports.

The New York Post first reported this directive, noting that Susie Wiles, Trump’s former campaign manager and incoming chief of staff, sent out the order on Sunday. In the memo, she also noted that none of the nominees speak for Trump.

“While this instruction has been delivered previously, I am reiterating that no member of the incoming administration or Transition speaks for the United States or the President-elect himself,” Wiles wrote, urging nominees to “refrain from any public social media posts without prior approval of the incoming White House counsel.”

The Post confirmed that nominees seem to have been adhering to the ask, which was delivered December 29:

Those who could face tough questioning — such as former Democrats like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard, tapped to lead the Department of Health and Human Services and the Office of National Intelligence, respectively — have also quieted down since Christmas.

Trump States Where He Stands on H-1B Visas

President-elect Donald Trump has announced his position on the H-1B visa, which imports hundreds of thousands of foreign workers, mainly from India, to work specialty occupations. His statements starkly contrast his first term, where he emphasized the need to prioritize American workers and “America First” policies. His first administration implemented several measures, including stricter eligibility criteria, increased scrutiny of applications, and reduced visa approvals, to ensure that American workers were not displaced or underpaid.

Trump said he has many H-1B visas employed on his properties and believes in the “great” program.

“I’ve always liked the visas, I have always been in favor of the visas,” Trump told the New York Post. “That’s why we have them.”

Trump, who was previously critical of foreign worker visas during his first administration, agreed with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, who argued that the program is crucial for enabling American companies to access highly skilled labor that may be scarce within the U.S. workforce and should be expanded to meet growing demands. Trump Asks SCOTUS to Pause TikTok Ban ‘To Pursue a Negotiated Resolution’

President-elect Donald Trump urged the Supreme Court on Friday to pause an impending ban on the Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok.

Trump’s legal team filed a friend-of-the-court brief requesting the justices pause TikTok’s ban, due to go into effect on January 19, to give the president-elect time to negotiate a deal to keep the platform operating in the United States. The effort to ban TikTok gained bipartisan support earlier this year as critics accused the platform of threatening U.S. national security by collecting data on Americans.

In April, Congress passed and President Joe Biden signed legislation that included a ban on TikTok unless the social media platform can meet the terms outlined in the legislation, namely being sold off from its parent company, ByteDance. The legislation gave the social media platform 270 days to comply with the chance of an additional 90 days if the Biden administration assesses that ByteDance has made meaningful progress toward a sale.

TikTok sued the government over the ban, claiming that it violates the First Amendment.

“President Trump takes no position on the merits of the dispute,” Trump’s team wrote in its brief. “Instead, he urges the Court to stay the statute’s effective date to allow his incoming Administration to pursue a negotiated resolution that could prevent a nationwide shutdown of TikTok, thus preserving the First Amendment rights of tens of millions of Americans, while also addressing the government’s national security concerns.” (Read more from “Trump Asks SCOTUS to Pause TikTok Ban ‘To Pursue a Negotiated Resolution’” HERE)

Mexico Braces for Trump’s Mass Deportation Plan With 25 New Shelters

Mexico is preparing for President-elect Donald Trump’s forthcoming mass deportation mission by opening 25 new shelters that will house more than 12,000 Mexican nationals.

Baja California Gov. Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda announced plans Monday to open the additional shelters, including six in Tijuana and two in Mexicali, according to the Border Report.

Ávila Olmeda called it a “strategic plan” to provide housing to “exclusively people who get deported after January 20.”

The new shelters will not provide accommodations to other foreign nationals. She explained that deported Mexican migrants will be temporarily placed in the facilities until they can be returned to their hometowns.

Each of the 25 shelters will be able to accommodate 500 people. According to the Border Report, some shelters will house men, while others will accommodate women, unaccompanied minors, and family units. The new shelters are slated to open by Trump’s Inauguration Day. (Read more from “Mexico Braces for Trump’s Mass Deportation Plan With 25 New Shelters” HERE)

Fani Willis Suffers Another Court Loss in Her Scheme to Prosecute Trump

Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis has suffered another loss in her legal campaign to prosecute President-elect Donald Trump on her “organized crime” charges.

This after a court already has ruled that she’s off the case because of the impropriety she exhibited by hiring her paramour to work on her case against Trump.

Now a judge has said the Georgia state Senate can issue a subpoena to her as part of its investigation into whether she engaged in misconduct during her lawfare case against Trump. . .

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shukura Ingram filed the order that instructs Willis she has until Jan. 13 to submit arguments over whether the subpoenas seek legally shielded or confidential information.

A state Senate committee had ordered her earlier to answer questions and produce documents about her campaign against Trump. (Read more from “Fani Willis Suffers Another Court Loss in Her Scheme to Prosecute Trump” HERE)

Trump’s Diet Coke Button to Return on His First Day Back in the White House

The infamous Diet Coke button from President-elect Donald Trump’s White House is returning to the Oval Office when he is sworn in again on January 20, according to a report.

Trump’s red button that was stationed on his desk until he left the White House in January 2021 will return when he moves back in, the Daily Mail reported on Thursday:

Whenever the former president pressed the device, his Diet Coke was delivered on a silver tray by his then-valet, Walt Nauta, according to Newsmax.

The return of the button is just one small gear in the well-oiled machine that will remove the current First Family’s belongings and move in the incoming First Family’s stuff in just about five hours, the outlet reported.

Trump’s clothes will already be in his closets and his family photos will be on the walls when he moves back in. (Read more from “Trump’s Diet Coke Button to Return on His First Day Back in the White House” HERE)

Trump Asks Supreme Court to Halt TikTok Ban From Taking Effect

President-elect Donald Trump asked the Supreme Court on Friday to delay a law that would effectively ban TikTok from taking effect until after he assumes office.

Trump lawyer John Sauer, who is the solicitor general designee for the incoming administration, petitioned the high court to postpone its hearing on the TikTok ban, arguing that the matter could be redressed “through political means” instead.

“President Trump alone possesses the consummate dealmaking expertise, the electoral mandate, and the political will to negotiate a resolution to save the platform while addressing the national security concerns,” Sauer wrote.

“In light of these interests — including, most importantly, his overarching responsibility for the United States’ national security and foreign policy — President Trump opposes banning TikTok in the United States at this juncture, and seeks the ability to resolve the issues at hand through political means once he takes office.”

The Chinese firm ByteDance had been ordered to divest TikTok or face an outright ban in the US pursuant to a law signed by President Biden earlier this year. (Read more from “Trump Asks Supreme Court to Halt TikTok Ban From Taking Effect” HERE)
