The Key Senate Races, All the Latest Results

Heading into the election, polling data gave Republicans a decided advantage in maintaining control of the U.S. Senate, while Democrats enjoyed a slightly stronger likelihood of taking the House. According to Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight on the morning of the election, Republicans had a 4 in 5 chance (80.9%) of maintaining control of the Senate and were likely to end up with 52 seats, a net gain of one seat and one more than they need for the 51-seat majority.

Real Clear Politics’ average of the key polls Tuesday morning gave Republicans 49 seats that polling data indicates are highly likely to go their way, including two that “lean” heavily in Republicans’ favor (North Dakota and Texas), one (Mississippi’s special election) that is “likely” to go to the GOP, and 46 that are fully “safe” or not up. RCP gives Democrats a total of 43 seats that are very likely to go their way (five that “lean,” two that are “likely,” and 37 that are safe or not up).

If RCP’s averages of the polls are correct, that means that just eight Senate seats are truly in play: Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Other races that have garnered a lot of attention include North Dakota and Texas. Below is the final polling data for each of these key races and the latest updates on vote counts. . .

The contest for the traditionally center-right Arizona seat left empty by retiring Republican Jeff Flake is one of the Democrats’ best hopes of picking up a traditionally red seat. Polling data has consistently shown a very tight race between Republican Rep. Martha McSally and Democrat Rep. Kyrsten Sinema. RCP’s average of the latest polls gave McSally a razor-thin 1-point advantage, a statistical tie. The final Gravis poll showed McSally up by 1; Emerson gave Sinema a 1-point edge; HarrisX had McSally up by 3; ABC 15/OH Predictive Insights gave the Republican a 1-point edge; and Trafalgar Group gave McSally a 2-point lead. . . .

Incumbent Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson has found himself in neck-and-neck contest with Republican Gov. Rick Scott for the Florida seat, though most of the polls have given Nelson the edge. RCP’s averages of the most recent polls gives Nelson a 2.4% lead over Scott. Quinnipiac’s final poll showed Nelson up by 7 points; HarrisX found Scott leading by 2; Emerson gave Nelson a 5-point advantage; St. Pete Polls gave the incumbent a 4-point lead; and Trafalgar Group showed Scott with a slim 2-point edge. Disabled Vet Can’t Vote After NBC Sets up Camera in Handicapped Parking Space, Refuses to Move

A disabled Air Force veteran says an MSNBC news crew blocked his way into a polling site in Houston when it parked in a handicapped parking spot.

“Went to vote, and found this waiting for us,” James Berrie, who has multiple sclerosis, wrote on Facebook. “The only van accessible spot and they’re filming in it. We asked them to move, pointed out how it was wrong, then went to vote, because it takes time to load up. But came out and still there. Not even packing up, still getting ready for their shot.”

They claimed they had a live shot, so Sarah walked into the shot. They cut the feed and got pissed. Fortunately other people joined in, plus firefighters who where there for Prop B. We finally left once their van was loaded. But there were plenty of witnesses and pictures/video taken by others.

This is suppression. If I couldn’t park I couldn’t vote. Their van had no handicap placards. And this happens all the time. Handicap spots are not loading zones for gear and equipment. Figure something else out. Especially at a public event where people are going to need the spots. This is not ok, and the station needs to be made aware. All of them.

EDIT: This is a very big election this year. News will be out in force, now and until the general. The media needs to be aware. Call them out if you see this.

Levin’s Warning: THIS Is What the House Will Look Like If GOP Voters Don’t Show up

On the radio Friday evening, LevinTV host Mark Levin warned conservatives of what the next Congress will look like if conservative voters don’t show up to the polls on Election Day.

During the opening segment, Levin pointed out that there are 37 tossup races in the House of Representatives, and 31 of those are in districts currently held by Republicans. This means that GOP voters will need to turn out if they want to keep those seats red.

Levin pointed to what the House of Representatives will look like if Democrats take over. He reminded listeners that several would-be committee chairmen, such as Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., and Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., have promised to use their newfound power against their political opponents – President Trump most of all.

Levin also noted that Democrats have “promised to reverse course” on President Trump’s thus-far booming economy, which would be terrible news for American jobs.

“You want to save your country or not?” he asked listeners.

“The Left is going to turn out. The Democrats are going to turn out,” he said later. “The issue is whether we are.”

Staffers Reveal Gillum Is Hiding True Views in Undercover Sting Video

James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas released a bombshell video on Wednesday night that showed staffers for Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum revealing just how far-left he is and how the campaign is trying to hide that from voters.

Omar Smith, a campaign staffer for Gillum, said that if elected, “None of the programs that people are hoping for would happen” but “that’s not for [voters] to know.”

“So, let’s go back to Mr. Gillum’s platform, right?” Smith continued. “Raise the corporate tax in Florida from 7 to 11 percent. That will never happen. Raise teacher’s pay to $50,000, that will never happen. Give me another position. Medicare for all, that will never happen.”

Adrian Young, who works for the Florida Democratic Party, revealed that Gillum does not support the Second Amendment and wants to push for far-left bans on common firearms and accessories. (Read more from “Staffers Reveal Gillum Is Hiding True Views in Undercover Sting Video” HERE)

Alaska Race: After Walker Withdraws, New Poll Says Race Is a Veritable Toss-Up

A new poll on the Alaska gubernatorial race shows that it could be an extremely tight race between Republican candidate Mike Dunleavy and Democrat Mark Begich.

Incumbent Gov. Bill Walker (I) withdrew from the race last week just days after Lt. Gov. Byron Mallott (D) abruptly resigned from office amid confessions that he’d made unspecified “inappropriate comments” to an unspecified person.

Walker said he opted to withdraw from the race because he felt Begich would have better odds of beating Dunleavy, who had been leading in several polls.

“This week I have talked to many Alaskans to determine whether I or Mark Begich had a better chance of running a competitive race against Mike Dunleavy,” Walker said. “The determination was made that, at this point, Begich has the better odds. Alaskans deserve a competitive race.” . . .

In a two-way race between Dunleavy and Begich, Dunleavy would receive 54.5 percent of the vote, Begich would receive 40.8 percent of the vote, and 4.6 percent of respondents would be undecided. (Read more from “Alaska Race: After Walker Withdraws, New Poll Says Race Is a Veritable Toss-Up” HERE)

Oops: Democrat Candidate’s Childhood Poverty Story Revealed to Be Fake

As the midterm elections inch their way closer this fall, tough rhetoric continues to flow in one of the more hotly contested races in the country. That race is found deep in the heart of Arizona between Republican Martha McSally and Democrat Krysten Sinema, who are running for U.S. Senate.

However, one of the key claims made by Sinema is now being challenged by The New York Times.

Throughout the campaign, Sinema, a member of Congress who represents Arizona’s 9th District, has repeatedly made the claim that she comes from humble beginnings. She recounts in interviews and in speeches that she spent the majority of her childhood living homeless and in a former gas station without utilities.

In February, she tweeted, “I’m a little bit different than most people in politics. For nearly 3 years, my family lived in an abandoned gas station without running water or electricity. Those were tough times, but I knew it could be different.”

Additionally, Sinema touts the idea that she would be the rare senator who has dealt with being homeless.

However, court documents obtained by The Times are now casting a shadow of doubt on her claims.

In 1984, Sinema moved with her mother, stepfather and two siblings to the Panhandle of Florida. It was there, according to The Times, that her father worked as a part-time computer science teacher.

While it was true that the family of five moved to a former gas station, filings in 1985 and 1986 from a divorce between Sinema’s mother and stepfather reveal that payments were made monthly to utility companies, including electric, water and even the phone company.

Andy Howard, Sinema’s stepfather, wrote to the court, “We are unable to provide adequately for the children.” He continued by saying that “bills will exceed $2,000 and I will only bring in $1,500.”

When asked about the bills in an interview with The Times, Sinema appeared to dodge the question and focus on the fact they were homeless. “Being homeless is when an individual or family are living in a situation that’s not really stable, when you’re living in a place that’s not meant for living in,” she said.

In fact, when asked specifically about why her father mentioned payments to the utility companies, Sinema said, “Oh gosh, I don’t have an answer to that. That’s not something a little kid would hear about from her parents.”

This isn’t the first time, however, Sinema has been pressed on conflicting claims. The New York Times notes that in 2013, Sinema spoke to The Washington Post and mentioned that her family had a toilet.

She was pressed by the news organization on how they could flush the toilet with no water. She had no answer.

Additionally, Sinema’s step-aunt, Susie Fleming, disagreed with the claim that the family had no utilities. In fact, she told The Post, “I realize this tugs at people’s heartstrings and that was what she was going for, but, you know, it’s not the truth. When they decided to move out here, my dad said, ‘We’ll remodel the building and y’all can live in it.’

“I just get angry when she says it was an abandoned gas station.” (For more from the author of “Oops: Democrat Candidate’s Childhood Poverty Story Revealed to Be Fake” please click HERE)

Ben and Jerry Targets Seven Congressional Districts With a Spoonful of Sugar

Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, the founders of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, launched a new campaign aimed at flipping seven Congressional districts across the country. The effort, known as “Ben and Jerry (the people, not the corporation) Take Back Congress, Flavor by Flavor,” is a contest the two launched on MoveOn.org.

“We’re teaming up with MoveOn to help 7 of the best progressive candidates running for Congress. We need a Democratic majority to check President Trump’s unrestrained power,” the contest on MoveOn.org said. “And we also need to send progressive champions to Congress who will fix our health care system with Medicare for All, protect clean air and water, and get big money out of politics.”

Average Americans have the opportunity to create seven flavors and names that “capture the essence of what each candidate stands for.”

The duo plans to make a limited, homemade batch of the winning flavors and raffle off the pints to supporters, similar to what they did for Bernie Sanders during the 2016 election, POLITICO reported.

The seven chosen candidates include:
• Jess King who’s challenging Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11)
• Ammar Campa-Najjar, who’s challenging Rep. Duncan Hunter (CA-50)
• Lauren Underwood, who’s challenging Rep. Randy Hultgren (IL-14)
• Aftab Pureval, who’s challenging Rep. Steve Chabot (OH-01)
• J.D. Scholten, who’s challenging Rep. Steve King in (IA-04)
• James Thompson, who’s challenging Rep. Ron Estes (KS-04)
• Stephany Rose Spaulding, who’s challenging Rep. Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

What Election? Republicans Have Already Handed Congress to the Democrats

We hear a lot of talk about Russians interfering with the 2016 election results, but really, Republicans did the job for them.

What if I had told you during the 2016 elections that Republicans would pass a short-term budget bill funding the government and all its vices in a way that is absolutely indistinguishable from a bill Democrats would pass, merge it with a long-term bill funding the worst aspects of immigration, abortion, everything we hate about the Department of Education and Obamacare, massively increase spending, and then pair it with a bill funding the troops? What if I had told you we were about to lose the next election as severely as the 1974 “Watergate” election because Republicans were busy accomplishing the other side’s goals?

It’s bad enough that the Senate passed a “minibus” funding the Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Labor, and Education, attached to defense spending. It’s bad enough that Republicans planned on passing a stopgap continuing resolution (CR) locking in last year’s spending increase through December 7 without addressing the border crisis. Now they have introduced a final bill merging the two.

With every budget bill, Republicans find a way to up the ante on their perfidy and give Democrats more than they could get when they were in control. In 2015, when Republicans didn’t even control the veto pen, Chuck Schumer expressed shock that the GOP Senate gave away the farm. “If you would’ve told me this year that we’d be standing here celebrating the passage of an omnibus bill, with no poison pill riders, at higher [spending] levels above sequesters than even the president requested, I wouldn’t have believed it, but here we are,” said the Democrat senator in December 2015. “Almost anything the Republican leadership in the Senate achieved this year, they achieved on Democratic terms. … Democrats had an amazingly good year.”

And here we are today, with Republicans in control of the White House as well, and spending is several hundred billion dollars more.

A Republican Party that was committed to its platform would have passed a stand-alone defense and homeland security bill long ago with conservative priorities. Instead, Republicans sabotaged conservatives by holding defense spending hostage for a Democrat bill that fully funds the asylum invasion but not border security.

The HHS-Labor-Education component appropriates $178 billion for fiscal year 2019, $10.7 billion more than Trump requested. HHS would receive a 2.6 percent increase over the current record levels I decried in the March bill for fiscal year 2018. The bill also contains $286 million for Title X abortion funding, as well as $100 million for Obama’s “teen pregnancy prevention program.” They also removed a provision from the House version allowing adoption agencies the discretion not to place children in homes without a father and mother.

Rather than barring HHS from settling phony “unaccompanied” minors fueling the MS-13 and drug crisis, the bill requires HHS to “develop a strategy” for “reunifying” the invaders who self-separate from their kids to empower the drug cartels and endanger our country. We now have a Congress of, by, and for foreign invaders. It’s surreal. Out of 25 ideas that I proposed to protect Americans from the emergency of illegal immigration and all its cascading effects – from gangs and drugs to identity theft, crime, and the strain on schools – not a single conservative provision was put into the bill.

The increase in spending was totally gratuitous, because agencies were already scrambling to binge-spend an extra $140 billion they never anticipated at the start of the last fiscal year. Republicans agreed to massively increase spending halfway through the fiscal year in February and March after agencies already budgeted for much less.

With just 11 months of data from this fiscal year, we now know the deficit is $900 billion, already $233 billion more than the 12 months of fiscal year 2017. And remember, last year, which was the first year of full GOP control, already saw a $128 billion increase in spending over Obama’s final year. You will hear the media blame the tax cuts for most of the deficit, but the reality is that, for August, revenues were down $7 billion compared to August 2017, while outlays were up $100 billion! Interest on the debt is soaring. This is simply astounding given the condition of the economy.

Think about this for a moment. Could you imagine going back to 1996, when even moderate Republicans thought government was too big and our social values were decrepit? We would now give anything to go back to those levels of spending and policy values on health care and education. The Department of Education now costs $71 billion in discretionary spending alone, compared to $24 billion in 1996. HHS was $33 billion compared to $90.3 billion today, in discretionary spending alone. Back in 1996, the total cost of HHS, including the entitlement and welfare programs, was $333 billion. Now it’s well over $1.2 trillion.

That was when the entire federal budget was $1.5 trillion; now it’s $4.2 trillion. That was when we passed welfare reform. That was when we passed a massive immigration enforcement bill. And yes, that was without controlling the White House.

Now we have all three branches, and yet the Republicans are light-years to the left of Democrats of the ’90s.

At its core, this is the mentality that GOP voters despised when they voted for Trump, yet he has signed every budget betrayal and has declined to threaten a veto of this bill every day, even though he promised he’d never get owned in another budget bill and saw this coming a mile away.

At some point, phony conservative organizations and commentators need to step out of the soap opera and ask the question: All this for what? Perhaps a Watergate-style loss in November – all so we can die on left-wing policy hills – is what it will take for conservatives in this industry to finally wake up and reassert control over this party or start and new one. American citizens or legal immigrants who aren’t on the dole, don’t plan on getting a sex change operation or abortion, just want a fair chance in a free market, and want safety from external threats just don’t matter to either party. Faced with the current disquiet and a lack of alternatives, many voters will simply choose the party that is currently out of power to lodge their protest, even though Democrats are really in power in all but name only. Racist: Black Lawmaker Calls Asian Opponent ‘Ching-Chong’

Well, there’s nothing like Democratic Party blood sports. While the far left and the establishment wings of the party are at odds, it hasn’t really hamstrung Democrats’ overall chances in the 2018 midterms. They’re still in a position where they could retake the House. And then there are the other squabbles within the party that are just downright nasty. I mean the Sanders and Clinton wings probably can’t stand each other, but in local races, intra-party drama can turn even nastier. In Michigan, state Reps. Stephanie Chang and Bettie Cook Scott were running for the Democratic nomination for the state’s first senate district. Scott reportedly told her supporter to not vote for the “ching-chong.” Once again, you can say incredibly racist things…as long as you’re a Democrat. Oh, and Scott lost big. Barely breaking double-digits on primary day last week (via Detroit Metro Times)

More than a dozen community groups have called on Rep. Bettie Cook Scott (D-Detroit) to apologize for a series of racial slurs sources say she used to describe her primary election opponent, Rep. Stephanie Chang (D-Detroit).

Scott is alleged to have referred to Chang as “ching-chang” and “the ching-chong” to multiple voters outside polling precincts during last Tuesday’s election. She’s also said to have called one of Chang’s campaign volunteers an “immigrant,” saying “you don’t belong here” and “I want you out of my country.”

Chang and Scott were running in the Democratic primary for state Sen. District 1. Chang won the election with 49 percent of the vote; Scott came in third with 11 percent of the vote.

“These comments are offensive to all Asian-Americans,” Chang tells Metro Times. “It isn’t about me. It’s about an elected official disrespecting entire populations, whether they be Asian-American, immigrant, or residents of Sen. District 1 or [Cook’s] own current house district.”

Why This Joe Miller Supporter Is Backing Mead Treadwell for Governor

With the Republican primary for Governor underway, freedom loving Alaskans need to think through the qualifications of the candidates and their backgrounds to determine the best choice. One of the glaring problems Republican voters are grappling with is job qualifications for this office. By all accounts Mike Dunleavy doesn’t have any private sector experience contrasted to Mead Treadwell’s numerous private sector roles spanning 40 years helping to build our economy bring private sector jobs to Alaska and the Arctic. The latest being with PT Capital, an Alaskan Company.

Mike Dunleavy’s experience in the State Senate is without accomplishment, and is marred with obstructionist positions. His inability to even bring fellow conservatives to his side during the budget debacle led to his expulsion from three significant committee positions including Chairman of the Senate State Affairs Committee as well as a key committeeman position in the the Senate Finance Committee: The committee which is tasked with drafting a budget for the legislature’s approval.

During the winter of 2016-17 the State operating budget was debated, and Dunleavy had a key role. He ultimately opted to stifle the budgetary process from occurring even after many cuts to schools, healthcare, and state university system had been made. He proudly boasts this as a selling point for his present campaign. This unfortunate situation set in motion a chain reaction of several conflating problems.

First, Alaska received one of two financial downgrades by Moody’s and one by Fitch in the immediate aftermath. These ratings become critical when the state has to borrow money for various capital improvement projects all throughout the state. Next was Mike’s unceremonious departure from his positions of influence in the State Senate, which shortly thereafter became the real cause of him quitting his post as a State Senator altogether. However, these unforced errors became far worse due to his lack of prudence in this budgetary matter. The state government endured a shutdown due in large measure from his obstruction and political grandstanding prior to announcing his run for Governor early this year.

The end result was Governor Walker opted to perform an end around the legislature to pilfer the Permanent Fund Dividend. Dunleavy’s involvement simply can’t be ignored as he directly contributed to that situation occurring. With his committee position, Dunleavy had the ability to work with, influence, and lead Senate Republicans. The state could have avoided the shutdown, ratings collapse, and PFD takeaway. For his part in that situation, Dunleavy’s role can not be ignored.

Mead Treadwell has always supported growing the Permanent Fund and the paying of the Permanent Fund Dividend. As a business leader of 40 years he helped bring innovations to market like Google’s Street view. As the former Lieutenant Governor, he is clearly the private sector champion. In government he pushed tax cuts as well as privatization, crime fighting initiatives.

Mead’s expertise has also been relied on by three separate U.S. Presidential administrations in varying capacities. Mead served as Chairman for the U.S. Arctic Research Commission under George W. Bush as well as the Chair for Alaska State Lands Advisory Group. As a civic leader, he led Alaska’s efforts to get missile defense for the nation, and have our own defenses here. Treadwell is pro-life from the beginning, and financially sponsored the 2010 parental notification initiative. Dunleavy simply doesn’t have any background, nor experience like this.

When it comes to SB91 Crime bill, Dunleavy voted for it on the floor of the state senate. Later on he voted against the bill during a relatively unimportant house reconciliation vote with the senate. After the bill was signed into law, he failed to support as a state senator any effort by Republicans to repeal the bill that he was partly responsible for passing to begin with. This is a typical tactic some legislators do to hide their support of a controversial bill, and now a crime wave has beset the state due in part to Mike Dunleavy.

The last issue that needs to be also examined is the manner in which Mike Dunleavy has opted to fund his campaign. His brother Frances Dunleavy from Texas has by one account already donated 305,000 dollars to a Super Pac dedicated to supporting his brother Mike. Frances and sports fishing lobbyist Bob Penny combined have collectively donated 555,000 in their bid to purchase the governor’s office. Therefore, they are an active component of this election.

Frances Dunleavy was employed at J.P. Morgan Chase. In 2014, Frances was implicated publicly as a significant person of interest for being apart of a massive scheme to defraud the citizens of California and Midwestern states by manipulating electrical utility prices. The end result was JP Morgan had to pay a 410 million dollar fine to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, which subsequently led to his brother’s departure and the revocation of his securities licenses.

Now Frances’ donations are racking up, yet the decision is ultimately yours. Does Alaska need to have the baggage of Dunleavy as Governor? My hope is that you all may consider that there is a better alternative waiting in the wings.

Please consider Mead Treadwell for Alaska’s next Governor. He is a better suited, and experienced candidate who understands the issues confronting the state. This is why I support Treadwell for Governor and so should you.
