The U.S. Is Undergoing a Massive Population Shift and It’s Bad News for Dems

Democrat-run states are still losing population, new Census Bureau data reveal, a development that could have electoral implications when the government reapportions congressional districts in 2030.

Oregon, California, Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania, all states with Democratic governors and Democrat-controlled state legislatures, lost between 0.01% and 0.52% of their population between July 2022 and July 2023, according to the Census Bureau. Left-leaning states experienced similar declines in the lead-up to the 2020 Census, which led to them losing seats in the House of Representatives and votes in the Electoral College, an outcome that could occur again in 2030 if current trends persist.

“On its face the trends look pretty bad for Democrats” as it relates to House reapportionment, Cook Political Report’s Dave Wasserman told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“But, it’s also premature to extrapolate trends from the last three years on to the next seven years,” he qualified. “In all likelihood we will see a continued shift from California, New York, Illinois and Pennsylvania to the sunbelt and more Republican-leaning states, however, the magnitude of that shift is what’s up in the air.”

Liberals Praising ‘False’ Elector Indictment Previously Called for Electoral College to Vote Against Trump in 2016

Multiple liberal legal commentators who praised Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel of Michigan for indicting 16 Republicans for attempting to file false electoral votes in the 2020 election had called for members of the Electoral College to vote against Donald Trump in 2016, according to a review of their tweets.

Nessel announced the indictment on Tuesday after the Department of Justice did not prosecute the individuals, including Michigan Republican Party co-Chair Meshawn Maddock, for allegedly signing a false certificate of electoral votes, challenging the state’s valid electoral votes for then-candidate Joe Biden. However, many of the legal commentators who praised Nessel’s decision had called on electoral college members in states that Trump won in 2016 to vote for a candidate other than him.

“Michigan, My Michigan — one truly great State! Finally an Attorney General worthy of her title. Kudos and props to Michigan AG Dana Nessel, a true public servant,” tweeted Laurence Tribe, a University Professor emeritus of Harvard Law School. Tribe, in 2016, had tweeted that “All it will take is just 12% — a bit over 1 in 10 — of the 306 Trump Electors to vote against a walking, talking impeachable offense,” appearing to encourage such a vote.

Norman Eisen, a CNN legal analyst and former U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic in the Obama administration, said that “[w]e forecast that this was coming months ago, & now accountability is here & everywhere,” in a tweet following the announcement. In 2016, Eisen wrote that “electors should not — CANNOT — choose [a] man who will violate oath,” referring to Trump. Democrats Launch Campaign To Abolish Electoral College

Democrats, who long have chafed under the stipulations of the Constitution that make the United States a constitutional republic rather than a democracy, have introduced a House resolution to abolish the Electoral College and exchange it with a national popular vote for president and vice president.

The resolution, led by Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., claims that the “development of mass media and the internet has made information about Presidential candidates easily accessible to United States citizens across the country and around the world,” the Washington Examiner reported.

While Democrats now have the majority in the House and Senate as well as the White House, the measure is not likely to succeed because a constitutional amendment must be ratified by two-thirds of the states.

The Electoral College was established as a compromise between those who wanted the president elected by a vote in Congress and those who sought a direct vote.

Cohen contends the Electoral College now is an “anachronism,” and the Constitution already has been changed, for example, to allow citizens of all races and women to vote. (Read more from “Democrats Launch Campaign To Abolish Electoral College” HERE)

Multiple Companies Yank Donations From Republicans Who Opposed Electoral College Certification

At least three major corporations have announced they will stop giving to the political campaigns of Republican lawmakers who opposed the certification of Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory. . .

Popular Information, a political newsletter operated by left-wing operative Judd Legum, contacted 144 corporations that financially supported the Republican lawmakers, specifically the eight senators, through their corporate PACs, asking if the companies would continue to support the lawmakers.

In response, three of the companies told Popular Information they would stop donating:

Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel chain
Blue Cross Blue Shield, one of America’s largest health insurance providers
Commerce Bancshares

FLASHBACK: Democrats Object to Counting Electoral College Votes In 2000 and 2004 (VIDEO)

The last three times a Republican has been elected President of the United States, Democrats in the House of Representatives have brought objections to the electoral votes the Republican nominee won.

Democrats in the House objected to both of former President George W. Bush’s victories in 2000 and 2004 and President Trump’s win in 2016.

Last week, Senator Josh Hawley (R- MO) announced he will object to Electoral College certification, which brought swift condemnation from Democrats who praised their own party’s objections to GOP victories in 2000,2004 and 2016. . .

In 2005, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), along with Representative Stephanie Tubbs (D-OH), objected to Bush’s 2004 electoral votes in Ohio.

Democrats praised Boxer’s move at the time, including Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL). Yet last week, Durbin described Republican objections as “the political equivalent of barking at the moon.”

UPDATE: As of Saturday, 11 Senators join the effort to challenge certification

By Zachary Steiber. A group of 11 senators on Saturday announced they’re going to challenge electoral votes during the Jan. 6 joint session of Congress.

“America is a Republic whose leaders are chosen in democratic elections. Those elections, in turn, must comply with the Constitution and with federal and state law,” the group wrote in a joint statement.

“When the voters fairly decide an election, pursuant to the rule of law, the losing candidate should acknowledge and respect the legitimacy of that election. And, if the voters choose to elect a new office-holder, our Nation should have a peaceful transfer of power. The election of 2020, like the election of 2016, was hard fought and, in many swing states, narrowly decided. The 2020 election, however, featured unprecedented allegations of voter fraud, violations, and lax enforcement of election law, and other voting irregularities.”

The allegations of fraud and irregularities in the 2020 election “exceed any in our lifetime,” the group added, noting courts, including the Supreme Court, have repeatedly declined to hear evidence of alleged fraud.

The senators said Congress should immediately appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory and fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of election returns in disputed states. Once completed, the states would evaluate the commission’s findings and convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed. Newly Elected Lawmaker Joins House Members Who Will Object To Electors on Jan. 6

Congresswoman-elect Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) made an official announcement on Thursday that on behalf of her constituents she will object to Electoral College results in the Jan. 6 joint session of Congress.

“Guided by the US Constitution and my responsibility to my constituents, I will object to the Electoral College results on January 6th,” wrote Boebert in a Twitter post.

Boebert was criticized for the post by a news analyst and writer who accused the freshman congresswoman of “bombastic symbolic acts” to further her congressional career.

Boebert responded, “Newsflash: I’m not here to make a career for myself. I’m here to save our country from socialists.”

The newly elected Colorado lawmaker has also been an outspoken supporter of the Second Amendment. (Read more from “Newly Elected Lawmaker Joins House Members Who Will Object To Electors on Jan. 6” HERE)

More U.S. Lawmakers Join Electoral College Challenge

Joining about a dozen Republican colleagues who pledge to challenge Electoral College votes on Jan. 6, a Texas congressman has formally asked his state’s two U.S. senators to join him.

Republican Rep. Lance Gooden said in a letter Tuesday to Republican Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn: “I intend to object to the certification of the Electoral College vote submissions on January 6th, and I respectfully ask you to stand with me,” the Epoch Times reported.

A challenge to any state’s Electoral College votes submitted to Congress for certification requires at least one House representative and one senator to object. The House and Senate then would each vote on the challenge. A majority of both chambers would be required to reject a state’s votes. If both Biden and Trump lacked the required 270 electoral votes, the House would choose the president, with one vote for each state delegation, and the Senate the vice president.

“We must stand up for the tens of millions of Americans who want answers to the irregularities surrounding this election,” Gooden wrote. “It is our duty to ensure the integrity of our election is unwavering, and the American people deserve to feel confident their vote matters.”

Gooden called for “a full audit of every ballot in states like Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, and Pennsylvania,” where there have been “widespread reports” of fraud and irregularities. (Read more from “More U.S. Lawmakers Join Electoral College Challenge” HERE)

This Senator-Elect Indicates He Will Join House-Led Challenge of Electoral College

Congress is set to convene on Jan. 6 to formally count votes cast by the Electoral College. While some House Republicans intend to object to Biden’s electors in some states, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is reportedly working to stamp out such challenges in the upper chamber. One Senator-elect, however, has indicated that he plans to join a House-led effort to challenge the results.

According to reports, Senator-elect Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) may join an effort led by fellow Alabamian GOP Rep. Mo Brooks and challenge the count of the Electoral College.

“You’ll see what’s coming,” Sen.-elect Tuberville, said recently. “You’ve been reading about in the House. We’re going to have to do it in the Senate.”

Rep. Brooks is leading the House effort to challenge the count but needs a single Senator to join his effort. If successful, the bicameral challenge would then trigger a debate and vote over the state electors in both chambers of Congress. While such an objection may delay the outcome of the vote count, it’s not likely to change the results given the current composition of Congress and sentiments on the Hill. Hillary Clinton Calls to ‘Abolish the Electoral College’ After Casting Electoral Vote for Joe Biden

Former Trump challenger Hillary Clinton called to “abolish the Electoral College” on Monday after she, an elector, cast a vote for Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA).

Electors across the country are meeting to cast their votes for the next President of the United States, formalizing the results of their respective states. Clinton, one of New York’s electors, posted a picture celebrating the fact that she cast her vote for Biden and Harris, though she also used the opportunity to call for the abolishment of the Electoral College. . .

Clinton is hardly the first high-profile, political figure to call for the end of the Electoral College, which essentially serves as a safeguard against mob rule in presidential elections. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who lost to Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden in the last two Democrat primaries, has also called to end the age-old system.
