National Guard Responds After Dem Threatens Use to Push Gun Control Agenda

The Virginia National Guard released a statement on Friday in response to questions about whether they could be deployed to enforce Democratic lawmakers’ gun control agenda.

“We have received multiple questions regarding proposed legislation for the 2020 General Assembly session and the authority of the Governor of Virginia to employ the Virginia National Guard in a law enforcement role,” Maj. Gen. Timothy Williams, the Adjutant General of the Virginia National Guard, said in a statement.

“We understand and respect the passion people feel for the U.S. Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights. We will not speculate about the possible use of the Virginia National Guard,” he added.

The Virginia National Guard was forced to respond after Rep. Donald McEachin (D-Va.) suggested Thursday that Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) could deploy the National Guard to enforce future gun control measures.

“Ultimately, I’m not the governor, but the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law. That’s his call, because I don’t know how serious these counties are and how severe the violations of law will be. But that’s obviously an option he has,” McEachin told the Washington Examiner. Yes, Virginia, the Governor Really Can Use the National Guard to Enforce Gun Control

With dozens of Virginia counties declaring themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries, some Democratic lawmakers have said the governor should use the National Guard to enforce future gun control legislation – but can he?

Virginia Democrats, who control the legislature and governorship, have proposed several measures including an “assault weapons” ban, universal background checks, and a red flag law. In response, 75 counties vowed they will not enforce future gun control legislation. Virginia Democratic Rep. Donald McEachin told the Washington Examiner on Thursday that Gov. Ralph Northam “may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law” if local authorities refuse to do so themselves. . .

“Until nationalized, it’s a creature of the state. So that’s what leads me to believe that, yes, the governor can activate the National Guard to enforce even a state law,” Gary Solis, a military law professor at Georgetown University, told the Washington Examiner. . .

The Posse Comitatus Act places strict limitations on how the military can be used to enforce the law, but the National Guard’s unique status as a state unit is an exception. Many governors have activated the National Guard to enforce the law in the past.

In 1954, Arkansas Gov. Orval Faubus directed the National Guard to “preserve the public peace” by turning away black students during the court-mandated integration of Little Rock’s Central High School. President Eisenhower reversed that decision by federalizing the state’s entire guard, ordering it to protect the students. Disarm Innocents and Release Gun Felons: Jersey City Attacker Had Gun Felonies but Was Released From Prison

Weak sentencing for gun felons plus serving as a sanctuary for criminal alien fugitives minus the ability of peaceful citizens to defend themselves equals New Jersey?

The Garden State has become a breeding ground for repeat violent offenders who can illegally own firearms, while peaceful citizens face the strictest gun control laws imaginable. The tragic case of the Jersey City attack on a kosher supermarket, resulting in the deaths of three civilians and an ace police detective, should spawn a national discussion on weak sentencing against gun felons paired against the ineffectiveness of broad gun control on the citizenry.

The nation watched in shock on Tuesday as David Anderson, 47, and his girlfriend Francine Graham, 50 entered a Jewish food store in Jersey City and killed three civilians during a hostage/shootout situation that lasted several hours and shut down part of the city. Anderson and Graham, who are now dead, are also believed to have ambushed Jersey City detective Joseph Seals, and there’s evidence they are connected to the murder of an Uber driver in neighboring Bayonne, New Jersey.

Jersey City, like most murders, is about criminal control, not gun control

There’s been a lot of focus on their association with the Black Hebrew Israelite sect, an anti-Semitic and black supremacist cult, and the fact that this was likely a hate crime targeting Jews in an era of growing anti-Semitism. But the bigger public policy discussion should revolve around the fact that while the owners of these types of stores must remain unarmed in a state like New Jersey, a man like David Anderson, who had an extensive criminal record and firearms violations, was able to get a hold of the rifles used in the attack. If government really wants to protect the Jewish community as well as other innocent residents of New Jersey, it should focus on keeping the good guys armed and keeping people like Anderson behind bars.

It turns out that, according to the New Jersey Department of Corrections records, Anderson was charged with weapons offenses in 2004, 2007, and 2011, yet he never spent a significant amount of time in prison and mainly got probation. He was also convicted on a drug charge in December 2008 for which he served no time. In 2009, he was arrested for domestic violence in Ohio, but spent just 30 days in jail. According to the New York Post, he was picked up by Portage County, Ohio, police again in April 2011 following another incident of domestic violence, and Ohio police discovered an outstanding warrant from Hudson County, New Jersey, for violating his probation on a previous gun felony. Ohio police did their job, but when he was extradited back to New Jersey, authorities there rewarded the probation violation with … more probation. Although he was sentenced to five years in prison in June 2011, he was released after just four months.

This trend of choosing probation over incarceration in order to dramatically reduce the prison population as an end goal has only grown exponentially in states like New Jersey since 2011. The total incarcerated population has plummeted by 31 percent from 2011 to 2019, even as the overall population has grown slightly. A man with Anderson’s record today would likely serve even less time, thereby creating an even weaker deterrent against murder and mayhem.

The sad “irony,” which isn’t that ironic when you study crime and gun control, is that New Jersey has the toughest gun laws in the nation. Nobody can carry a weapon outside their homes, and so-called assault weapons have been banned for years. As of this year, anyone in New Jersey who owns a magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition is officially in possession of illegal contraband and is deemed a fourth-degree felon. Unlike magazine bans in other states, this one retroactively banned people from even owning such magazines in their homes, even though they had been purchased legally.

Here’s the enduring lesson of the Jersey City attacker and over 90 percent of other homicides in America. You can have all the gun control you want and it won’t stop shootings, but if you keep the known violent criminals, particularly violent gun felons, locked up, you will prevent the overwhelming number of homicides, which are committed by recidivists. If, on the other hand, you have gun control, but empty out the prisons to serve the idols of “criminal justice reform,” you get a security nightmare.

For example, in Baltimore, another bastion of both gun control and weak sentencing against criminals, the average murder suspect in 2017 had nine prior arrests, and 70 percent had prior arrests for drugs, according to city police data. The people doing all the crime are barely serving time. In total, 85 percent of murder suspects had a criminal record, and 44 percent were previously arrested for gun crimes.

One can only imagine how bad this attack would have been had Anderson usefully detonated the pipe bomb he built inside his U-Haul truck parked outside the kosher store. Remember, when you focus on the guns and let out the criminals, they have many ways of harming people with all sorts of weapons.

Leftists are using mass shootings to promote counterintuitive gun control policies. According to the Washington Post, there have been 1,196 victims of mass shootings since 1966. But in total, there have been 943,591 homicide victims in America from 1966 through 2018. Thus, 99.9 percent of all homicides in this country were committed by general murderers, the overwhelming majority of them being known criminals with rap sheets who were not deterred and punished properly. Some of the mass shooters who were first-timers were the exceptions.

The bottom line is if we locked up repeat violent offenders more often and closed more of the loopholes allowing them out – rather than pushing a further weakening of the criminal justice system – most murders could be prevented. Yes, that is an outcome that is worth the cost of building prisons.

Inviting in thousands of foreign criminals, including gun felons, while stealing guns from New Jersians

What’s worse than releasing violent felons while stripping innocent citizens of the right to defend themselves against those felons? New Jersey is a complete sanctuary state that invites in and harbors other countries’ criminals.

Earlier this year, N.J. Attorney General Gurbir Grewal issued a directive banning law enforcement from, among other things, participating “in civil immigration enforcement operations conducted by ICE” and providing “ICE with access to state or local law enforcement resources, including equipment, office space, databases, or property, unless those resources are readily available to the public.”

Even those illegal aliens detained by local law enforcement “with violent or serious offenses – such as murder, rape, arson, assault, bias crimes, and domestic violence offenses” may only be held for ICE until 11:59 pm of that day!

ICE just released a report showing that illegal aliens who were the subject of detainers had accrued 2,500 homicide charges just from this year’s cases! Given New Jersey’s large illegal immigrant population (the fifth in the nation), how many of those completely preventable murders occurred in the state?

In addition, Democrats in the state legislature are close to passing a law granting illegal aliens driver’s licenses.

Earlier this year, ICE engaged in a targeted operation to apprehend 123 criminal aliens caught driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs who were released by state and local law enforcement. Some also had homicide, firearms, and child molestation charges

Liberals often ask how many people have to die before we “do something” on guns. New Jersey has done a lot on guns. The one thing it hasn’t done is actually lock up the bad guys with the guns and help remove foreign criminals, thereby ensuring that good guys, who are deterred by such laws, are the only ones without guns. How many people need to die at the hands of repeat violent offenders and illegal alien criminals before we stop this madness of prison release and sanctuary states? Democrats Float Prosecution and National Guard for Police Who Fail to Enforce Gun Control Legislation

Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill say local police who do not enforce gun control measures likely to pass in Virginia should face prosecution and even threats of the National Guard.

After November’s Virginia Legislature elections that led to Democrats taking control of both chambers, the gun control legislation proposed by some Democrats moved forward, including universal background checks, an “assault weapons” ban, and a red flag law.

Legal firearm owners in the state, however, joined with their sheriffs to form Second Amendment sanctuary counties, which declare the authorities in these municipalities uphold the Second Amendment in the face of any gun control measure passed by Richmond. . .

Virginia Democratic officials, however, already say local law enforcement supporting these resolutions will face consequences if they do not carry out any law the state Legislature passes.

“I would hope they either resign in good conscience, because they cannot uphold the law which they are sworn to uphold, or they’re prosecuted for failure to fulfill their oath,” Democratic Virginia Rep. Gerry Connolly told the Washington Examiner of local county police who may refuse to enforce future gun control measures. “The law is the law. If that becomes the law, you don’t have a choice, not if you’re a sworn officer of the law.” (Read more from “Democrats Float Prosecution and National Guard for Police Who Fail to Enforce Gun Control Legislation” HERE)

Only Six Guns Surrendered on First Day of Gun Turn-In Program (VIDEO)

Only six guns were surrendered on the first day of a Philadelphia “no questions asked” gun turn-in program over the weekend — yet KYW-TV said organizers are pleased with the results. . .

Victoria Greene’s son Emir Greene was murdered in 1997 when he was just 20 years old, the station said, so she founded the Emir Healing Center — and a few guns were turned in there Saturday.

“People might say, ‘Oh, that’s not many.’ But no, it is. It is. Because we’re talking about life and death,” Greene told KYW. “This is a new effort, but I think it’s really going to have some momentum.”

Damone Jones, senior pastor of Bible Way Baptist Church, told the station that gun violence has reached “epidemic” proportions.

“We’re at an epidemic stage at this point,” Jones noted to KYW. “If this is not an urgent situation now, based on how many children, now it seems like it’s every week there’s another child being shot.”

Sheriffs Group Urges Supreme Court to Strike Down New York City Gun Rules

The National Sheriffs’ Association is leading a coalition of law enforcement and gun rights groups urging the Supreme Court to strike down New York City’s gun transportation regulations.

The coalition filed an amicus (or “friend of the court”) brief arguing that the city lacks a legitimate public safety rationale for the rule, which prohibits “premise license” holders from carrying their firearms beyond city lines or to any location besides an authorized gun club. The high court will hear a challenge to New York’s regulations on Dec. 2.

“The public safety interest alleged to support the rule is non-existent and unproven,” the brief reads. “There is no proof that premises licensees have ever posed a threat to public safety when transporting their handguns.”

“It is also highly implausible that premises licensees would engage in violence when transporting their handguns out of the city,” the brief adds. “Licensees undergo exceedingly searching inquiries during the application process, and licenses can be refused for even trivial reasons.”

To possess a handgun, New York residents must obtain a premises license. That license restricts possession to the address listed on the license itself. The holder may only transport a firearm to authorized shooting clubs within city limits. The plaintiffs in the Dec. 2 case are three city residents and a firearms advocacy group who wish to carry their guns to vacation homes and marksman competitions outside the five boroughs. Counties Declare Second Amendment Sanctuaries Ahead of Dems’ Gun Control Push

As the prospect of new, draconian gun control continues to loom, the Second Amendment sanctuary movement continues to grow. Recently, ahead of the new Democratic legislature’s immanent takeover in Richmond next year, counties in the Commonwealth of Virginia have started declaring themselves sanctuaries for Americans’ right to keep and bear arms.

After the results of November’s off-year election flipped control of both chambers of the state legislature to Democrats, Governor Ralph Northam announced that his party was already “working on” a plan to attack citizens’ gun rights in the commonwealth. As of earlier this week, legislators had already started to pre-file gun control legislation for the upcoming session, including a ban on so-called “assault firearms.” The Virginian-Pilot outlines eight bills that Democrats are likely to pass when they take control.

But despite the election results, some of the commonwealth’s residents still care about keeping their Second Amendment rights intact. So far, Giles, Dinwiddie, Appomattox, Campbell, Carroll, Charlotte, Patrick, and Pittsylvania counties have declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries, with other county governments also considering doing the same.

“We have rights to bear arms. Point blank,” said Dinwiddie Supervisor William Chavis in a report at WWBT-TV. “And our county, we have a lot of hunters, lots of sportsmen that like to sport shoot.”

“Counties are saying, ‘Look, we are not going to enforce any unconstitutional gun laws in our jurisdiction,’” Virginia Citizens Defense League president Phil Van Cleave explained to WRC-TV. “A sheriff is a constitutional officer, however, he can take the lead of the county if he wishes and say, ‘We’re not enforcing any of this stuff.’ And some sheriffs are going to do that.”

The Second Amendment sanctuary movement has already made headlines out west after local officials in states including New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado, and Washington made it clear that they wouldn’t assist in the infringement of their citizens’ gun rights. It’s also been met with some pushback from national gun control groups.

Outside the Old Dominion, the movement is also coming to other states. Lake County, Florida, commissioners voted earlier this month to bar local law enforcement from enforcing federal gun restrictions. Florence County, Wisconsin, recently joined the sanctuary movement in opposition to a proposed “red flag” confiscation law in the state capital. Sullivan County, Tennessee, also made a sanctuary declaration recently to send a message to state legislators in Nashville. California School Shooting Suspect Used Semi-Automatic Handgun

The Los Angeles County Sheriff Department confirmed the suspect in Thursday’s shooting at Saugus High School was a 16 year-old male student. He used a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun to carry out the attack.

At a press conference, Sheriff Alex Villanueva said the suspect shot five students early in the school day before shooting himself in the head. Police arrived within two minutes after receiving the first call. Upon arrival, they found the victims and transported those who had been shot to a nearby hospital.

Police later discovered, through watching the school’s security cameras, one of the wounded that had been taken to the hospital was the suspected shooter. He is currently in “grave” condition. Before and during the press conference, it was announced two of the wounded had died. One was a 14 year-old male and the other was a 16 year-old female.

Police added the suspect had fired all the rounds in his magazine. It also turns out that Thursday is the suspected gunman’s birthday. (Read more from “California School Shooting Suspect Used Semi-Automatic Handgun” HERE)

Governor Confirms: Virginia ‘Working on’ Gun Confiscation Now That Democrats Are in Control

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) of blackface fame boasted this week that his party is ready to implement an array of gun control measures in the commonwealth now that Democrats control all three branches of government, and his administration is already “working on” a plan for confiscating so-called “assault weapons” from law-abiding gun owners. . .

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that Northam wants to bring back eight “common-sense” gun control measures that Republicans shot down during a special session in July, prioritizing “universal background checks, banning the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, restoring the law that limits purchases to one gun a month, and a red flag law that would empower a court to temporarily remove a gun from a person deemed to be a risk to himself or others.”

When asked directly about whether he is supportive of confiscating “assault weapons from gun owners” Northam replied, “That’s something I’m working [on] with our secretary of public safety. I’ll work with the gun violence activists, and we’ll work [on] that. I don’t have a definitely plan today.”

On Tuesday, Virginia voters handed Democrats total control of the commonwealth’s General Assembly — flipping both the Senate and the House of Delegates from red to blue majorities. The Democratic Party now controls not only Virginia’s legislature, but holds the governorship, lieutenant governorship, attorney general, and both U.S. Senate seats. Gun Control Activist Shoots Her Three Children Dead

A mother in Texas was found dead alongside her three children on Friday in an apparent triple murder-suicide.

Ashley Auzenne, 39, was known to have been battling depression and anxiety in addition to physical ailments such as arthritis and lupus at the time of her death, which was ruled as a suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Her three children, Parrish, 11, Eleanor, 9, and Lincoln, 7, were also killed by gunshots and their mother is the only suspect. She had just finalized a contentious divorce from their father, Murvin Auzenne Jr.

Auzenne was a vocal advocate for stricter gun control in the United States with multiple social media postings calling for an end to gun violence and Facebook profile pictures that bore the hashtags #Enough and #EndGunViolence.
