Biden Vows To Take Gun Manufacturers Down

By Breitbart. During a Monday night speech in South Carolina, Democrat presidential hopeful Joe Biden referenced gun manufacturers and said, “I’m going to take you down.”

He made this statement after referencing the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (2005). The PLCAA is designed to shield gun manufacturers from lawsuits in scenarios where the guns in question were legally made and legally sold.

Biden has repeatedly criticized the existence of that law on the campaign trail, most recently in Las Vegas on February 19, and in New Hampshire earlier in the month. (Read more from “Biden Vows To Take Gun Manufacturers Down” HERE)

Biden Slams Sanders Over Brady Bill Vote In Speech To Gun-control Activists

By Fox News. Former Vice President Joe Biden took aim Thursday at Sen. Bernie Sanders’ record on gun control, calling him out for voting against the 1993 Brady Bill.

“Too many Republicans — and some Democrats, like Bernie Sanders — voted five times against the Brady Bill that I was passing,” Biden said at a meeting in Nevada with the anti-gun group Moms Demand Action. “Five times against background checks and waiting periods.”

The Brady Bill requires a waiting period for handgun purchases and a background check on those who wish to purchase handguns. Biden claimed the legislation kept weapons out of the hands of three million people.

Twice in 1991 and again in 1993, Sanders voted against a version of the bill that would enact a mandatory waiting period for background checks. He voted for a bill in 2003 and 2005 that protects gun companies from lawsuits if their weapons are used for crime. The National Rifle Association (NRA) backed Sanders’ 1990 congressional campaign after his opponent, Republican Peter Smith, came out in support of an assault weapons ban. WATCH: Cheers Erupt When Virginia’s ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban and Magazine Confiscation Bill Fails to Pass

In a major defeat for Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and fellow Democrats in the commonwealth, the Virginia Senate Judiciary Committee voted to not move forward with HB961, the “assault weapons” ban and magazine confiscation bill, on Monday for the rest of the year.

In a 10-5 vote, with four Democrats joining the Republicans, the Judiciary Committee voted to for a crime commission to study the bill to see if it is worth pursing next year. The bill would have banned AR-15s and other similar styles of rifles and banned being able to own magazines that hold more than 12 rounds.

When the bill failed to pass, cheers erupted and some, including law enforcement officers, stood up in celebration. Virginia Delegate Mark Levine (D), who helped passed the bill in the House, and his colleagues in the front row were seen to be very disappointed.

The majority in the committee room were pro-Second Amendment activists, with a few gun control supporters in attendance as well.

School Calls Police on 6-Year-Old With Down’s Syndrome – Here’s Why

After a six-year-old Pennsylvania girl with Down Syndrome pointed her index finger at her teacher and said, “I shoot you,” the school district called the police. . .

The incident prompted the girl’s mother, Maggie Gaines, to say that the reaction to her daughter Margot’s gesture at Valley was far from reasonable, as she told CBSPhiladelphia:

They get this phone call and I was fine with everything up until calling the police. And I said, “You absolutely do not have to call the police. You know, this is ridiculous” … My daughter got frustrated and pointed her finger at her teacher and said, “I shoot you.” At that point, they went to the principal’s office and it was quickly assessed that she didn’t even really know what she was saying. They were asking her questions, and she was saying, “Oh, I shoot mommy,” laughs, or, “I shoot my brother.” The principal asked, “Did you mean to hurt your teacher?” And she said no and it seemed like she didn’t even know what that meant.

Gaines continued, “She really didn’t understand what she was saying, and having Down syndrome is one aspect, but I’m sure all 6-year-olds don’t really know what that means. Now, there is a record at the police that says she made a threat to her teacher. . .

Bearing Arms noted, “This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a student’s finger gun land them in trouble. In 2019, a middle school student in Kansas faced felony charges after making a finger gun in class, while students in the same school district who brought actual firearms to school were charged with misdemeanors.” (Read more from “School Calls Police on 6-Year-Old With Down’s Syndrome – Here’s Why” HERE)

Joe Biden: An AK-47 Won’t Protect You From the Government (VIDEO)

By Daily Wire. Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden said on Sunday that he believes that having a “rational policy” on guns means making sure that people can’t have “50 clips in a weapon,” which is gibberish, and said that a person would need a lot more than an AK-47 to take on a tyrannical government.

Biden made the remarks on the campaign trail in New Hampshire while talking about why kids learn active shooter drills in school, saying, “because we’re unwilling to have a rational policy that says you cannot have 20, 30, 40, 50 clips in a weapon.”

Biden also claimed: “I now have over 58% of the NRA members acknowledging that you cannot own an assault weapon. There is no need for it. You can’t have a magazine that is more than 10 rounds in it.”

The Daily Wire contacted The National Rifle Association (NRA) to inquire about which poll Biden got his statistics from and was informed that Biden’s claims are false because the NRA is a private organization that does not give out information on its members, let alone for polling purposes.

Joe Biden Doubles Down in NH: Sue Firearm Companies for Criminal Gun Use

By Breitbart. Joe Biden used his gun control time at the New Hampshire Democrat debate to call for Americans to be able to sue firearm makers over gun crime.

Biden segued into these comments by criticizing Bernie Sanders for supporting the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), a law that prohibits frivolous lawsuits against manufacturers of firearms, which are legally made and sold.

Biden said Sanders’ support for that law was a “mistake” that gave “gun manufacturers … a loophole that does not allow them to be sued for the carnage they are creating.” (Read more from “Joe Biden Doubles Down in NH: Sue Firearm Companies for Criminal Gun Use” HERE)

Were White Nationalists Really Planning to Attack the Virginia Gun Rights Rally?

By Daily Caller. The story of last week’s gun rights rally in Virginia was one of narrowly-avoided disaster, according to several mainstream outlets, with law enforcement stepping in just in the nick of time to prevent a mass shooting.

The FBI’s own court filings tell an entirely different story though, one in which white extremists stumbled from one surveillance trap to another without much situational awareness.

The New York Times, the Associated Press, and BuzzFeed narrative centered around the arrest of three men: William Bilbrough, Brian Lemley, and Canadian national Patrik Mathews–all members of the The Base, a white supremacist organization that interacts mostly online and aims to create a white ethno-state. The media implied the group was arrested while planning an attack at the Virginia rally, but that is not what law enforcement documents show.

Firstly, the group decided not to actually go to a rally. They also decided not to start any violence. They planned to wait for a race war to start, as voice recordings show, and then join in.

Records show that police were long in position to prevent these men from successfully attacking anyone. The FBI had been tracking their movements since September 2019 and installed video and audio recording devices inside their Delaware residence in December 2019, according to the FBI’s motion to detain the three men. Fact Check: Did ‘Thousands’ of ‘Far-Right Extremists’ Attend the Richmond Pro-Gun Rally?

By Check Your Fact. HuffPost published an article with a headline claiming “thousands” of “far-right extremists” attended a Jan. 20 gun-rights rally in Richmond, Virginia. . .

Verdict: False

While some nationalist groups did attend the Richmond gun-rights rally, there’s no evidence “thousands” of “far-right extremists” were there. Experts and journalists gave the Daily Caller News Foundation lower estimates.

Fact Check:

The Virginia Division of Capitol Police estimated 22,000 people attended the Jan. 20 gun-rights rally in Richmond to protest various recent gun control proposals. Some officials feared violence might occur at the rally, particularly after the FBI announced days before that it had arrested three alleged members of white supremacist group The Base. But, despite these concerns, the rally remained peaceful, with only one reported arrest, according to The Washington Post.

Watch African-American Gun Owners Completely Destroy the Left’s Latest ‘White Supremacist’ Narrative

. . .[Ralph] Northam’s friends in the leftist media, who happily brushed his blackface and KKK garb scandal off the airwaves last year, took the “white supremacist” narrative and ran with it. They warned of potential violence, clashes and targeting of minorities. None of that happened and their false narrative completely fell apart. It was a productive, peaceful day.

‘Assault on the Second Amendment’: Virginia Senate Passes Three Gun Control Bills

Virginia Democrats took an important step toward passing several gun control bills they have prioritized during this year’s General Assembly session.

The majority-Democrat state Senate passed legislation that would restrict monthly gun purchases, expand background checks on firearms, and allow localities to ban guns in certain designated areas.

“Ladies and gentleman, this is probably the first assault on the Second Amendment, and we’re going to see many after that,” Republican state Sen. Bill Stanley said.

Legislation in the Virginia General Assembly is considered by the state Senate and House of Delegates separately before being sent across chambers for review during a period known as “crossover.” Bills passed in both the Senate and the House of Delegates are then given to Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam to be signed into law. . .

The issue of gun control in Virginia is playing out along demographic lines as urban voters demand action on gun violence while rural Virginians believe their second amendment rights are being infringed upon. More than 100 Virginia counties passed Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions after Democrats gained a majority in the General Assembly in November. Congressman: Sheriffs May Go to Jail to Protect ‘Second Amendment Sanctuaries’

By Washington Examiner. Kentucky Republican Rep. Thomas Massie thinks some local law enforcement leaders will be willing to go to jail rather than comply with state gun control laws they deem unconstitutional.

“Attended my first 2A sanctuary meeting today in Lewis County (where I live). Standing room only. Friends and neighbors spoke passionately and articulately. County officials unanimously passed a resolution,” Massie tweeted on Dec. 30. “This grassroots movement feels even stronger than the Tea Party in 2010.”

“Second Amendment sanctuary” municipalities last year sprouted up in Illinois, a state with some of the strictest gun control laws. They then spread to Colorado, Kentucky, New Mexico, New Jersey, Oregon, Virginia, Washington state, and other states.

Massie cited Weld County, Colorado Sheriff Steve Reams, a critic of the state’s “red flag” law, who has offered to put himself in his own jail rather than enforce the state law.

“His county government has already voted to fund his legal fees should he end up in a protracted legal battle that might go all the way” to the Supreme Court, Massie told the Washington Examiner. (Read more from “Congressman: Sheriffs May Go to Jail to Protect ‘Second Amendment Sanctuaries’” HERE)

Nye County Board Declares ‘2nd Amendment Sanctuary’ to New Gun Laws

By 8 News Now. Nye County is officially declining to enforce new regulations on background checks on most private gun sales.

The Nye County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday unanimously approved Resolution 2019-39, declaring a “Second Amendment Sanctuary County.” Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak signed legislation early this year requiring background checks on most private party gun sales.

While a resolution does not have the force of law, it signals that Nye — and likely several other rural Nevada counties — will hold to their opposition of the new law. (Read more from “Nye County Board Declares ‘2nd Amendment Sanctuary’ to New Gun Laws” HERE)

Uprising: 90% of Virginia Counties Become Gun ‘Sanctuaries,’ Expanding Movement to Nine States

Stirred awake by Democratic proposals to take, register, and possibly seize their legally obtained weapons, Virginia gun owners in just 43 days have pushed 90% of the state’s counties to become gun “sanctuaries,” the latest three on Monday night.

Since the Nov. 5 election that gave Democrats control of Richmond, an “organic,” pro-gun movement has prompted the governments of 86 of Virginia’s 95 counties, as well as 15 towns and cities, to adopt some type of sanctuary language, putting Gov. Ralph Northam and other liberals on notice that their gun control plans aren’t welcome.

“I did not think it would be that high of a number,” said sanctuary advocate and Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins.

“It’s an organic thing that just took off after Election Day. Elections have consequences, and this is the result. This has truly rocked the conservative, libertarian group’s core. It has really shook a lot of them awake. They are fully awake,” he told Secrets.

Remarkably, the effort has not seen a big push from the National Rifle Association. Local groups, notably the Virginia Citizens Defense League, have led the campaign that has brought thousands of gun-rights advocates to county board meetings.

Congress’ Spending Deal Will Put Millions of Tax Dollars Toward Government Gun Violence Research

Part of the spending deal meant to avert a partial government shutdown at the end of this week includes $25 million in taxpayer funds to be spent on federal research into gun violence.

In a Monday statement, Connecticut House Democrat Rosa DeLauro took credit for securing the funds, saying that the resulting research “will help us better understand the correlation between domestic violence and gun violence, how Americans can more safely store guns, and how we can intervene to reduce suicide by firearms.”

According to The Hill, the agreement would give $12.5 million each to the Centers for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health. It marks the first time in over two decades that Congress has directly appropriated money for the purpose of researching gun violence. The $25 million total is half of the $50 million Congressional Democrats asked for earlier in spending negotiations.

In a statement to Blaze Media about the news, Congressional Second Amendment Caucus Chair Thomas Massie, R-Ky., warned that the funds would be used to generate biased, anti-gun research at taxpayers’ expense.

“The inherent bias at NIH and CDC in deciding how this money will be spent will compel left wing researchers to compete with each other to cook up the most anti-gun results possible,” Massie said. “As with the climate change research industry and the privately funded gun-violence research industry, this newly christened government-funded gun-violence research industry will work mainly to justify its own existence, and unbiased voices won’t be funded or even tolerated.”

Gun control advocate and former Democratic Congresswoman Gabby Giffords hailed the funding as a “historic win,” noting it as the first time Congress had appropriated such funds in over 20 years. The reason for this, her statement says, is a long-standing federal spending provision known the Dickey Amendment, which says that federal funds can’t be used for the advocacy or promotion of gun control. Gun control advocates have long said that the rule acted as a de facto prohibition on federal gun violence research and celebrated a 2018 clarification in a spending bill that it said it didn’t ban research.

A 2018 blog post from the National Shooting Sports Foundation, however, pointed out that CDC gun research hadn’t stopped during the time period between the amendment’s inception and the passage of the 2018 language:

The CDC was never barred from any such research. In fact, the CDC has studied guns and suicide, noise and lead exposure at ranges, firearm violence prevention in Wilmington, Del., and issued a report on firearms homicides and suicides in metropolitan areas. That doesn’t include a bevy of FBI, Department of Justice and Congressional studies.

In fact, former President Barack Obama famously ordered the CDC to do a study on gun violence in 2013 in the wake of the December 2012 Sandy Hook massacre. But what the agency found out ended up running contrary to a lot of what gun control advocates might have hoped for.

Among its several published findings, the CDC research pointed out that the use of guns in self-defense is actually pretty common, that gun buyback programs aren’t very effective at lowering crime, and that there are “consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies.” (For more from the author of “Congress’ Spending Deal Will Put Millions of Tax Dollars Toward Government Gun Violence Research” please click HERE)
