Gunman Previously Told Cops He Was a Depressed Drug User

Confessed Highland Park shooter Robert Crimo III admitted to cops three years ago that he was a depressed teenage drug user when quizzed about threatening to “kill everyone” in his family, newly released documents show.

A Highland Park police report details why the then-18-year-old alleged shooter was flagged as a “clear and present danger” in 2019 — just a few months before his dad helped him start amassing the arsenal he allegedly used to kill seven and injure dozens at his local Fourth of July parade.

It notes that officers were called to his Highland Park home at 10 a.m. Sept. 5 for a well-being check after a relative said “Robert stated he was going to kill everyone.“

That relative — whose identity was redacted — “was afraid to go home due to the nature of the threat” and the fact that there was “a collection of knives in his bedroom,” the report released Wednesday notes.

Police quizzed the then-18-year-old Crimo in front of his mother, Denise Pesina, and he “admitted to being depressed … and having a history of drug use,” the redacted report said. It did not detail what drugs he used at the time. (Read more from “Gunman Previously Told Cops He Was a Depressed Drug User” HERE)

Highland Park Gunman Had an Affinity for Numbers 4 and 7: Authorities

The accused Highland Park gunman was bizarrely obsessed with the numbers 4 and 7, which are the date of his massacre when transposed, police said Wednesday.

Robert E. “Bobby” Crimo III, 21, had the numbers painted on his silver Acura and even tattooed on his face, showing he clearly “had an affinity” for the figures, Lake County County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli told reporters.

The suspect — whose alleged rampage at a Fourth of July parade in the Chicago suburb Monday left seven innocent people dead and dozens more injured — also reportedly used the name “Awake47” for an online forum where he and others regularly posted images of the aftermath of violence.

Crimo’s obsession “apparently comes from music that he’s interested in,” Covelli said. (Read more from “Highland Park Gunman Had an Affinity for Numbers 4 and 7: Authorities” HERE)

Highland Park Parade Shooting Suspect Threatened to Kill His Family in 2019: Cops

The suspected Highland Park mass shooter once tried to commit suicide, then threatened to “kill everyone” in his home while hoarding a huge stash of knives months later — yet was still able to legally buy rifles and pistols afterward, officials acknowledged Tuesday.

Authorities revealed that Robert E. “Bobby” Crimo III, 21, had legally purchased at least five firearms — including the AR-15-style rifle he allegedly used in Monday’s massacre — after his two troubling interactions with law enforcement in 2019.

Officials said cops were called to Crimo’s home in April 2019 after receiving a report that he had attempted suicide a week earlier.

Officers spoke to Crimo and his parents, but the matter was handled by mental-health professionals at time, said Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli at a news conference. . .

“A family member reported that Crimo said he was going to kill everyone and Crimo had a collection of knives,” Covelli said. “The police responded to his residence. The police removed 16 knives, a dagger and a sword from Crimo’s home.” (Read more from “Highland Park Parade Shooting Suspect Threatened to Kill His Family in 2019: Cops” HERE)
