Comey Softened Language in Hillary Memo Even After CIA Officials Called Her Emails ‘Problematic’

CIA officials described emails found on Hillary Clinton’s private email server as “problematic” and damaging to the agency, according to summaries of interviews they gave to the FBI last May and June.

The timing of the interviews is significant because they are within a 39 day time window in which top FBI officials, including then-director James Comey, edited language in a draft memo of a statement that was to be given at the conclusion of the Clinton email probe.

A May 2, 2016 memo sent by Comey to three top bureau officials referred to Clinton’s use of a private email server to send and receive classified information as “grossly negligent.”

But according to Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, the memo was changed on or around June 10 to refer to Clinton’s actions as merely “extremely careless.”

The distinction between “grossly negligent” and “extremely careless” is significant because the former is considered a federal crime while the latter term has no legal weight. (Read more from “Comey Softened Language in Hillary Memo Even After CIA Officials Called Her Emails ‘Problematic'” HERE)

Shocking Donna Brazile Expose Drives Hillary Camp Into Chaos, May Throw Crucial Virginia Governor Race to the GOP

Donna Brazile’s scathing review of Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 presidential campaign sent more shock waves this weekend through the Democratic Party, with members eager to bury the Clinton era ahead of Tuesday’s key Virginia governor’s race and other upcoming elections.

“Those telling me to shut up … I tell them, ‘Go to hell.’ I’m gonna tell my story,” Brazile, who ran the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 White House race, on Sunday told ABC’s “This Week.”

Brazile roiled the political world on Thursday when she published excerpts in Politico of her upcoming book that detailed a 2015 money deal between the Clinton campaign and the DNC that made winning the party’s presidential nomination nearly impossible for any other Democratic candidate.

NBC News published a memorandum Saturday detailing the joint-fundraising agreement that shows the Clinton camp would have input on such key DNC decisions as hiring and spending, in exchange for helping the group with its roughly $20 million debt . . .

But Brazile suggested Sunday that the authority the Clinton camp had under the agreement went beyond “standard” joint-fundraising agreement and that a “separate,” undisclosed deal also existed. Emails: No. 2 FBI Official Recused Self From Clinton Probe One Week Before Election

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe recused himself from the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email server just one week before the presidential election, according to new Justice Department records obtained by Judicial Watch, a government watchdog.

McCabe sent a brief email, dated Nov. 1, 2016, to fellow senior FBI officials, in which he formally recused himself from the Clinton email investigation, which the FBI code-named “Mid-year.”

“As of today I am voluntarily recusing myself from the ongoing Mid Year investigation,” he wrote in the email. “I will continue to respond to congressional requests for historical information as necessary.”

Judicial Watch obtained the email and other related documents through Freedom of Information Act litigation.

During the campaign and in the months since, President Donald Trump, conservative groups, and several Republicans lawmakers criticized McCabe for failing to recuse himself from the FBI’s probe into Clinton’s private email server after media reports that the 2015 state Senate campaign of McCabe’s wife received $675,000 from two groups either run by or closely associated with Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe. (Read more from “Emails: No. 2 FBI Official Recused Self From Clinton Probe One Week Before Election” HERE)

Here’s How Much the Clinton Campaign and DNC Paid for the Trump Dossier

By Chuck Ross. The Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee paid just over $1 million for the infamous Trump dossier, the opposition research firm behind the salacious document said on Wednesday.

Fusion GPS, the Washington, D.C.-based firm, made the disclosures to the House Intelligence Committee last week, according to Reuters.

Fusion, founded by three former Wall Street Journal reporters, also disclosed that of the $1.02 million it received from Democrats, the firm paid the author of the dossier, Christopher Steele, $168,000 for his work on the document.

Steele, a former British intelligence officer, was hired by Fusion GPS last June. His 35-page dossier, chock full of allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government, has been used by the FBI as part of its investigation into Russian interference in the presidential election.

The payments to Fusion GPS for the dossier were made by Perkins Coie, the law firm that represents the Clinton campaign and DNC. Perkins Coie partner Marc Elias, who served as general counsel for both entities, was the bagman for the project, The Washington Post reported last week. Clinton Defends Campaign Funding for Research in Steele Dossier

By Henry C. Jackson. Hillary Clinton on Wednesday defended her campaign lawyer’s decision to pay for research that showed up in a salacious dossier about Donald Trump’s ties to Russia.

In an interview on “The Daily Show,” Clinton also dismissed any parallels between her campaign’s use of opposition research and Russian election interference that [the MSM says] may have benefited Trump.

“I think most serious people understand that,” Clinton said in a clip of an interview with host Trevor Noah that was to air later Wednesday night. “It was research that started (with) a Republican donor during the primary, and when Trump got the nomination for the Republican Party, the people doing it came to my campaign lawyer.” (Read more from “Clinton Defends Campaign Funding for Research in Steele Dossier” HERE)

Judge Jeanine: After Russian Dossier Funding, Time to ‘Lock Her Up’

By Fox News Insider. Judge Jeanine slammed Democrats’ involvement in the Russia dossier used to smear President Trump during the campaign, saying it is time to “lock up” Hillary Clinton.

Last week new reports surfaced that Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee paid an opposition research firm for the controversial and salacious document.

Special Counsel and former FBI Director Robert Mueller must be fired, and all involved in the scandal investigated, Judge Jeanine said.

“This has been a charade.”

Pirro pointed out that the media have accused Donald Trump’s campaign of colluding with Russia, but the tables seem to be turning. (Read more from “Judge Jeanine: After Russian Dossier Funding, Time to ‘Lock Her Up'” HERE)

Speculation Swirls as Mueller Indictment Looms in Russia Investigation

By Fox News. Speculation has escalated in Washington and across the country as lawmakers await the announcement of at least one indictment in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election — an announcement that could come as early as Monday.

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., predicted Sunday on ABC News’ “This Week” that two prominent Trump campaign associates believed to be at the center of the investigation — former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort — could be indicted.

“Well, you know, there are two people I think just from press reporting that it is likely to be, either Mike Flynn or Paul Manafort,” Schiff said. “We haven’t been informed of who it is, and I don’t think it would been appropriate for Bob Mueller to tell us.”

Manafort has been the subject of an investigation into his dealings in Ukraine several years ago — for which he did not file as a foreign agent until June 2017. (Read more from “Speculation Swirls as Mueller Indictment Looms in Russia Investigation” HERE)

Prominent Democrat Calls for Hillary Probe

While many Democrats are downplaying the Washington Post’s report that the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee funded the controversial anti-Trump dossier, a prominent party figure – a former chief of staff to Bill Clinton and CIA director under Barack Obama – believes an investigation is warranted.

Leon Panetta, who also served as secretary of defense, director of the Office of Management and Budget, and a congressman from California, was asked by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Thursday night how it was possible that neither “the chair of the DNC and the Clinton campaign” knew about payments for the dossier.

“Well, it’s obviously something that the Intelligence Committee is going to have to look at,” Panetta said. “You know, knowing presidential campaigns, they’re big operations and somehow the left hand may not know what the right hand is doing. And that could be the case here.”

Panetta said the committee “is going to have to get into this, determine just exactly what happened, who knew what and when.”

Blitzer asked Panetta why Clinton campaign attorney Marc Elias didn’t tell Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta that the campaign had paid for the dossier. The report was included by then-FBI Director James Comey in the intelligence community’s January report on Russian meddling in the election, even though Comey described it as “salacious and unverified.” (Read more from “Prominent Democrat Calls for Hillary Probe” HERE)

America Showers Hillary With Side-Splitting Birthday Wishes

It’s Hillary Clinton’s 70th birthday Thursday, and Americans are sending her the hilarious birthday wishes she deserves – complete with uranium cakes, orange jumpsuits, deleted emails and even a surprise FBI informant to crash the party.

To celebrate her role in the Uranium One scandal in which Russia was given control of one-fifth of uranium mining in the U.S., former Trump adviser Sebastian Gorka sent the former first lady a special radioactive cake:

Donald Trump Jr. tweeted “Happy birthday Hillary” and shared news that the Justice Department has lifted a gag order on an FBI informant, who may now testify before Congress on a uranium deal struck with Russia when Hillary was secretary of state.

A YEAR of Clinton Lies About the ‘Golden Showers’ Dossier Exposed as Hillary’s Lawyer Is Under Fire for Falsely Denying Paying for It

A Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer who launched what would become known as the anti-Trump ‘dirty dossier’ denied involvement in the project for a year as reporters pressed him for information.

Marc Elias brokered a deal between the Clinton camp, the Democratic National Committee and opposition research firm Fusion GPS to dig up dirt on the president while he was running for office.

But a pair of New York Times reporters said Tuesday night on Twitter that Elias and others involved had lied about their ties to the arrangement.

‘Folks involved in funding this lied about it, and with sanctimony, for a year,’ Times reporter Maggie Haberman tweeted after The Washington Post linked the dossier to Elias and his law firm Perkins Coie.

Kennth Vogel, another Times journalist, tweeted: ‘When I tried to report this story, Clinton campaign lawyer @marceelias pushed back vigorously, saying “You (or your sources) are wrong”.’ (Read more from “A YEAR of Clinton Lies About the ‘Golden Showers’ Dossier Exposed as Hillary’s Lawyer Is Under Fire for Falsely Denying Paying for It” HERE)

Hillary Caught in Dirtiest Political Trick – Paid for Anti-Trump Russian Dossier

By WND. It’s long been rumored that Democrats were at least part of the push behind the Russian “dossier,” that allegedly links President Donald Trump to all sorts of infamous activity . . .

In a report on Tuesday from Adam Entous, Devlin Barrett and Rosalind Helderman, the paper claimed the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee helped fund research that resulted in a now-infamous dossier containing allegations about Donald Trump’s connections to Russia.

According to the links outlined by the Post, Marc Elias, a lawyer for the Hillary Clinton campaign and the party, hired Fusion GPS, a Washington firm, for the “research.”

Then Fusion hired Christopher Steele, a former British agent who has ties to the FBI and others, to write it up.

The report said Elias and his law firm, Perkins Coie, long linked to President Obama, hired Fusion in 2016 “on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the DNC.” (Read more from “Hillary Caught in Dirtiest Political Trick” HERE)

Research for Russian Anti-Trump Dossier Was Paid for by Clinton Campaign and DNC

By Jack Davis. Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee both funded research that led to the development of a discredited dossier about President Donald Trump’s connections to Russia, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

The Post cited “people familiar with the matter” as its sources for the report.

The Post reported that Marc E. Elias, a lawyer representing the Clinton campaign and the DNC, retained the firm Fusion GPS to conduct the research. Fusion GP then hired Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer, to do the work.

Trump has furiously denied any of the salacious allegations in the dossier and recently tweeted that congressional investigations into Russia should make public the name of who paid for its development.

“Officials behind the now discredited ‘Dossier’ plead the Fifth. Justice Department and/or FBI should immediately release who paid for it,” Trump tweeted Saturday.

Democrats began funding the dossier’s development in April 2016, The Post reported. Initial research had been funded by a GOP client during the Republican presidential primaries.

Fusion GPS was still being paid by the Clinton campaign and the DNC through October 2016, the Post reported.

Fusion GPS officials have been ordered to testify before congressional committees, but have refused to speak to a House panel.

“We cannot in good conscience do anything but advise our clients to stand on their constitutional privileges, the attorney work product doctrine and contractual obligations,” Fusion GPS’s counsel Josh Levy wrote earlier this month.

“Should you compel any of our three clients to appear at the scheduled deposition, they will invoke their constitutional privileges not to testify,” Levy said in the letter. “Since that will be the case, we ask that the Committee excuse them from appearing.”

The Post reported that neither Elias and Fusion GPS could comment, nor would the Clinton campaign or the DNC.

Others, however, had a lot to say:

Three House committees have begun separate investigations into the former secretary of state, Lou Dobbs reported for Fox Business Network. (For more from the author of “Research for Russian Anti-Trump Dossier Was Paid for by Clinton Campaign and DNC” please click HERE)

‘Silenced’ FBI Informant Called to Testify on Corrupt Russian Bribery Scheme Involving Hillary

By Ryan Saavedra. The Senate Judiciary Committee called on a former FBI informant — who says he was silenced by the Obama administration — to testify before the committee regarding the FBI’s investigation into crimes committed by Russian nuclear officials, an investigation that allegedly has direct connections to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

In a letter, Senate Judiciary Chairman Charles Grassley (R-IA) asked Victoria Toensing, the lawyer representing the former FBI informant, to allow her client to testify about the FBI’s investigation before the Obama administration approved the sale of Uranium One to Russia’s Rosatom, Circa News reported.

“Toensing said she also possesses memos that recount how the Justice Department last year threatened her client when he attempted to file a lawsuit that could have drawn attention to the Russian corruption during the 2016 presidential race,” The Hill reported on Wednesday.

Toensing said her client witnessed a significant amount of corruption going on in the U.S. and was forced by the FBI to a sign a document that prevents him from revealing what he knows to Congress:

Toensing’s client was an American businessman who says he worked for four years undercover as an FBI confidential witness. Toensing said he was blocked by the Obama Justice Department, under then Attorney General Loretta Lynch, about testifying to Congress about his time as an informant for the FBI. He contends that he has pertinent information that the Russian’s were attempting to gain access to former President Bill Clinton and his wife, then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to influence the Obama administration’s decision on the purchase of Uranium One, Toensing said.

Graham: Hillary Implicated in Russia Probe

By Boston Herald. . . .The Hill and Circa media have broken a story the FBI spent years investigating — and actually sent someone to jail over — involving bribery, blackmail and corruption by Russians who wanted to buy up a big chunk of the world’s uranium, located here in North America.

We’ve known for a while that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton both approved the deal and her family foundation received millions of dollars from Russians backing the deal. That’s one reason the nickname “Crooked Hillary” stuck.

What we didn’t know until now is that “the FBI had evidence as early as 2009 that Russian operatives used bribes, kickbacks and other dirty tactics to expand Moscow’s atomic energy footprint in the U.S.,” according to Fox News.

Not only did Hillary’s State Department approve Russia’s purchase of Uranium One — handing 20 percent of the U.S. uranium supply over to allies of Vladimir Putin — but the Obama FBI and Department of Justice let it happen unchallenged. All while the Clinton Foundation collected millions in “donations” from these Russians, and Bill Clinton was paid $500,000 by a Russian investment bank to give a speech in Moscow.
