ICE Arrests Another International Student As State Department Revokes 300 Foreign Student Visas

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a University of Minnesota (UMN) graduate student Thursday as the Department of State moved to revoke about 300 foreign student visas.

UMN authorities announced the ICE arrest occurred at an off-campus residence, calling the situation “deeply disturbing.” The Minnesota Daily vaguely identified the graduate student as an international student in the university’s Carlson School of Management.

“The University had no prior knowledge of this incident and did not share any information with federal authorities before it occurred,” university leadership said. They also offered mental health support to any member of the university distressed by the incident.

“Carlson School staff have been in close contact, monitoring the situation and helping connect the student with resources and support,” Dean Jamie Prenkert wrote, adding that “[i]n the current climate, detentions like these deeply affect our community.”

There Was Nothing Wrong With This ICE Arrest in Massachusetts

Turkish national Rumeysa Ozturk had her green card revoked. The Tufts University student was detained by federal agents in Massachusetts, sparking some strong reactions on social media. Ozturk reportedly was engaging in activities in support of radical Islamic terrorism (via CBS News):

A Tufts University international graduate student was taken into custody by federal authorities in Massachusetts Tuesday evening. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security said Turkish national Rumeysa Ozturk “engaged in activities in support of Hamas,” but did not provide details about her alleged activities.

A DHS spokesperson told CBS News on Wednesday that she is being held at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in central Louisiana.

In an email to campus, Tufts University President Sunil Kumar said Ozturk was apprehended “outside an off-campus apartment building in Somerville.”

In a follow-up letter Wednesday night, school officials also confirmed that Ozturk was being detained in Louisiana. The school disclosed that Ozturk was arrested while on her way to a Ramadan iftar dinner.

“We stand with our Muslim students, especially during their observance of Ramadan, as we recognize that Rumeysa was on her way to an Iftar gathering with friends at the Interfaith Center when she was detained,” school officials said in the letter.

ICE to Target Illegals in Aurora, Colorado Next

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is set to launch expanded, targeted operations in more major U.S. cities in the coming days, including Aurora, Colorado, according to reports.

For one of its next efforts, ICE is preparing to step up its presence in Aurora after focusing on Chicago and New York City, according to NBC News.

Aurora has become a central location in the fight against the dangerous Venezuelan street gang named Tren de Argua after gang members had taken over several Aurora apartment complexes and forced residents to pay their rent to the gang instead of to the owners of the buildings.

Tren de Argua exploded in size in the U.S. after Joe Biden began accepting waves of Venezuelans without any vetting, allowing untold thousands of gang members to flood the country.

Schools Aren’t Off-Limits For ICE Raids, Trump DHS Says

The Trump administration on Tuesday said that schools were no longer off-limits for immigration enforcement agents, withdrawing a Biden administration guideline on “sensitive” areas.

“Criminals will no longer be able to hide in America’s schools and churches to avoid arrest,” Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Benjamine Huffman said in a Tuesday statement.

“This action empowers the brave men and women in CBP and ICE to enforce our immigration laws and catch criminal aliens—including murderers and rapists—who have illegally come into our country,” the statement continued. “The Trump Administration will not tie the hands of our brave law enforcement, and instead trusts them to use common sense.”

School systems immediately pledged to make ICE’s job as hard as possible, and an Obama-linked progressive group urged them to do so because the more illegal immigrants a school has, the more taxpayer money it gets.

The Century Foundation, a progressive nonprofit that school systems lean on for policy advice, said that principals should meet federal law enforcement at the door and tell them that “district protocols” prohibited them from entering before the principal called the district’s lawyer. Then, the principal should call the child’s parents. Denver, whose enrollment has risen thanks to immigrant children after several years of declining enrollment, was one of several districts that said they would follow a similar procedure. Antifa Destroys Downtown Portland in Response to Biden’s ‘Kids In Cages’

Protests raged in downtown Portland, Oregon, on Saturday as rioters smashed windows of downtown businesses and vandalized the offices of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Profanity-laden slogans and messages like “No kids in cages” were spray-painted on ICE’s field office.

About 150 demonstrators marched through Portland’s Pearl District and damaged businesses that included Starbucks, Chipotle, Umpqua Bank and Urban Pantry, according to Fox News.

Report: Biden Administration to Dismantle ICE Immigration Enforcement

The Biden administration is reportedly considering overhauling Immigration and Customs Enforcement in a way that would terminate the jobs of thousands of officers tasked with arresting and deporting immigrants illegally residing in the United States.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is understood to have recently introduced a plan to do away with ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations arm and convert those officers into agents who investigate transnational crime instead of going after illegal immigrants.

The consideration comes after Mayorkas testified before senators in his confirmation hearing last month and said that he did not think ICE should be abolished.

The Biden administration’s proposal, outlined to top officials at the agency, would keep ICE’s name and its investigations side but effectively do away with its ability to enforce immigration laws. ICE would have little, if any, ability to do anything about people who choose to overstay a visa or illegally enter the U.S. at its land borders. Over the past decade, ICE officers have faced mounting challenges taking illegal immigrants into custody in sanctuary jurisdictions across the country that have enacted policies not to allow local police to turn over immigrants to ICE, as was standard practice for decades. Tucker Carlson Reveals Email Sent to ICE Officers After Biden’s Deportation Order

Fox News host Tucker Carlson revealed Friday that his team exclusively obtained an email showing how Immigration and Customs Enforcement was directed to carry out one of President Joe Biden’s executive orders on immigration. . .

Carlson said that his team obtained an internal email sent to ICE officers in Texas.

The email read, “As of midnight tonight, stop all removals. This includes Mexican bus runs, charter flights and commercial removals (until further notice) … all cases are to be considered [no significant likelihood of removal in foreseeable future].”

“Release them all, immediately. No sponsor available is not acceptable any longer,” the message added.

Head of ICE Resigns Abruptly After Nearly Two Weeks

The head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Jonathan Fahey, resigned Wednesday, after less than two weeks on the job, the Washington Examiner has learned.

Fahey, a former criminal prosecutor, resigned abruptly in what one person familiar with the situation said was due his being pressured to sign an agreement with ICE’s union. Two other individuals confirmed the news, first reported by BuzzFeed News. He was the seventh person to lead ICE under the Trump administration. . .

Fahey, 48, was tapped Dec. 31 to take over for then-Senior Official Performing the Duties of ICE Director Tony Pham, who was promoted to the role in September. . .

Fahey lives in northern Virginia and ran as an independent in 2019 for commonwealth’s attorney in Fairfax County, but he lost to Democrat Steve Descano. As a candidate, he said his top priorities included combating gang violence, responding to the opioid crisis, and working closely with law enforcement. ICE to Conduct Raids in Sanctuary Cities Before the Election

The Trump administration will carry out several high-profile immigration enforcement raids in cities with sanctuary policies. While ICE carries out raids all the time, these raids were apparently leaked to get the maximum political benefit for the president in his re-election campaign.

Most of the targets in the raids will be criminal illegal aliens — those who have been convicted of serious crimes or whose trial is pending. The operations will be in California, Denver, and Philadelphia, and could potentially include other cities and jurisdictions across the country.

Fox News:

The Washington Post first reported about the operations, which could take place as soon as this week in California. Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf may travel to at least one of the areas, it said.

“We do not comment on any law enforcement sensitive issues that may adversely impact our officers and the public,” an ICE spokesperson said in a statement. “However, every day as part of routine operations, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) targets and arrests criminal aliens and other individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws.”

Nearly 90 Arrested at Abolish ICE Protest

Police arrested nearly 90 protesters at an Abolish ICE demonstration Saturday in New York City’s Times Square near the New York Police Department’s headquarters, police said.

The New York Post reported that the police and protesters, who were demonstrating against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) based on recent reports that the agency performed unneeded hysterectomies on illegal alien women, clashed in Manhattan’s Times Square. . .

An NYPD public alert system blared that the protesters were “unlawfully in the roadway and obstructing vehicular traffic.”

In total, 86 people were arrested throughout the protest, 41 of them being men and 45 of them being women.
