Intruder Pours Gas on Home’s Floors. But Homeowner Fights Back — and Uses His Gun for Good Measure.

By The Blaze. Police said a man walked across the street Sunday evening toward a home in North Manheim Township, Pennsylvania, entered the garage, grabbed a gas can and then entered the home where he proceeded to pour gasoline on the floors, state police told the Morning Call.

But the 57-year-old homeowner battled with the intruder, police told the paper, and pushed him out of the house.

At that point, the homeowner’s daughter retrieved her father’s handgun and gave it to him while she called 911, police told the Morning Call.

However, the intruder apparently was undeterred, as he continued to assault the homeowner and pushed him to the ground, police told the paper.

But the homeowner rose to his knees and fired one shot, striking the intruder in the left arm and abdomen, police told the Morning Call, adding that the intruder collapsed and remained on the ground until police and rescue workers arrived. Armed Father Sees Intruder Crouching Outside His Children’s Bedroom Window. Dad Doesn’t Hesitate.

A husband and wife were asleep inside their Spanaway, Washington, home after 2 a.m. Monday when they heard noises and footsteps outside and saw an exterior motion light turn on, police told KIRO-TV.

When the husband went inside the room where his children — an infant and toddler — were sleeping, he came face-to-face with a frightening sight, the station said: A man crouching in the window well . . .

After yelling at him to stop, the homeowner — who told deputies he feared for his family’s safety — fired four shots at the suspect, hitting him twice, KIRO reported.

“That’s just the primal instinct as a man to try to protect my family and my wife,” the homeowner told the station. “I’m willing to put my life out there to make sure my wife and my sons are protected from that threat.”

When deputies arrived, the intruder was laying in the grass suffering from two gunshots, KIRO said, adding that the 24-year-old is expected to be charged once he’s released from the hospital.
