Democrats Block Resolution Supporting Iranian Protesters

House Democrats on Tuesday blocked a vote on a resolution introduced by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, California Republican, that expressed support of anti-government protesters in Iran and condemned Iran’s role in the downing of a Ukrainian civilian aircraft last week.

While details behind the blockage remain unclear, Democrats were reportedly drafting their own version of the resolution to compete with Mr. McCarthy’s resolution. . .

As tensions between the U.S. and Iran came to a head amid a U.S. fatal strike on top Iranian general last week and Tehran’s response with an attack on two American bases in Iraq, Republicans and Democrats have been sparring over the administration’s justification for military action. Report: Mullahs Now Using Live Ammo on Protesters, Regime Threatened For “First Time”; Powerful Video Shows Iranians Demonstrating More Respect for the U.S. Flag Than Colin Kaepernick Has

By Edmund DeMarche. Videos emerged online Monday that purportedly show Iranian police and security forces firing live ammunition to disperse demonstrators protesting against the Islamic Republic after the country mistakenly downed a Ukrainian airline plane shortly after takeoff from Tehran.

There was no immediate report in Iranian state-run media on the incident near Azadi, or Freedom, Square in Tehran, but, if true, could be seen as an act of defiance against President Trump who warned the regime against the use of deadly force.

Trump late Sunday tweeted in Farsi that a combination of protests and sanctions have “choked off” Iran and said Tehran will be forced to the negotiation table.

Trump insisted that he “couldn’t care less” if the regime negotiates, but he appeared to lay down non-negotiable issues that included the development of nuclear weapons and the use of deadly force against protesters.

“Don’t kill your protesters,” he tweeted:

Muslim Scholar: Iranian Regime Threatened for “First Time”

By Talia Kaplan. Qanta Ahmed weighed in on Sunday on the anti-government protests that had erupted at Iranian universities across the country on Saturday in response to Iran’s admission that it unintentionally shot down a Ukrainian passenger plane killing all 176 people on board, saying that she thinks “this regime, for the first time ever, is seriously threatened.”

Ahmed, a Muslim scholar, made the comment on “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Sunday adding that the regime “is in its most fragile and precarious time probably since 1979.”

“They’ve had a disastrous outcome to their attempt of intimidating the United States, their attempts on the embassy in Baghdad failed, they’ve had Qassem Soleimani [figuratively] decapitated, they had to admit that they shot down their own commercial airliner, killing hundreds of people, 83 Iranians, many Iranians have lost multiple family members,” she explained. Powerful Video Shows Iranians Demonstrating More Respect for the U.S. Flag Than Colin Kaepernick Has

By The Blaze. As protestors took to the streets of Tehran this weekend calling for the resignation of Ayatollah Khamenei, a video shows thousands of them demonstrating more respect toward the flags of the U.S. and Israeli than, frankly, many Americans, like Colin Kaepernick and others, show to Old Glory.

“Today, the crowd in an Iranian university refused to trample US and Israel flag #LoveBeyondFlags. These IR ideologies, like forced hijab, are falling one by one,” it reads in a caption.

The video shows thousands of protestors marching in Iran, approaching an American and Israeli flags that appear to be painted on the floor, and most of them carefully walking around them to avoid stepping on the national symbols.

As of the writing of this story, the video has nearly 1 million views, over 2,800 “likes,” and has been retweeted over 1,000 times. . .

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who is known for leading the kneeling protest during national anthems in NFL games, has not made any public comments regarding the protests in Iran. However, Kaepernick was quick to attack the U.S. after President Donald Trump ordered an airstrike that killed terrorist Qassem Soleimani.

Iran’s Only Female Olympic Medalist Defects Amid Mass Protests Against the Regime

Iran’s one and only female Olympic medalist said she has defected over the Iranian government’s “corruption and lies.”

Kimia Alizadeh, 21, posted on Instagram on Saturday announcing that she had defected from Iran and permanently left the country for Europe. She slammed the Iranian regime for oppressing women and for largely dictating her own life.

“Let me start with a greeting, a farewell or condolences,” Alizadeh said, according to a CNN translation. “I am one of the millions of oppressed women in Iran who they have been playing with for years.”

She attacked the regime for controlling her life and using her as a tool to bring prestige to the regime.

“They took me wherever they wanted. I wore whatever they said. Every sentence they ordered me to say, I repeated. Whenever they saw fit, they exploited me,” she said, adding that Iranian leaders took credit for her accomplishments.

Facebook Bans Pastor After He Criticized Iran

A Christian pastor says Facebook suspended his account for three days over a simple post meant to criticize Iran and their homophobic policies.

Pastor Ken Peters of Covenant Church in Spokane, Washington, tweeted about the suspension from his social media account. . .

“My post was in no way hateful. I was making the point that totalitarian Muslims in Iran persecute and execute LGBTQ people. On the other hand Freedom loving Christians in America disagree with their immorality, but would never hurt them,” Peters said.

“It is strange and ironic that the LGBTQ community would take the side of those who would murder them if they could,” he concluded. (Read more from “Facebook Bans Pastor After He Criticized Iran” HERE)

WATCH: Police Threaten to Arrest Reporter After He Referred to Soleimani as a Terrorist

Toronto police reportedly threatened a Canadian reporter with arrest after the reporter referred to Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani as a “terrorist.” . . .

The vigil, which was held outside a Toronto courthouse, saw a crowd of people and protesters congregating over the killing of Soleimani. An estimated 200 people attended the event.

Rebel News reporter David Menzies was one of those in attendance.

Menzies can be seen and heard in a video talking with the various people who had turned out for the demonstration, using the word “terrorist” when referring to Soleimani. Law enforcement can be seen approaching Menzies and advising him to stop using the word “terrorist” when referring to the Iranian general for fear of inciting the crowd.

One officer threatened that he would arrest Menzies if the reporter did not comply with the officer’s demands.

Armed Iranian National Detained Near Mar-A-Lago

An Iranian national armed with several knives, a machete, and a pickax was detained Friday by police about four miles from President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

The man, identified as an Iranian national by his passport, was arrested Friday morning on the east end of the Flagler Memorial Bridge, an officer with the Palm Beach police told the Palm Beach Post.

In addition to the knives, machete, and pickax, police found the man to have $22,000 and a car parked at Palm Beach International Airport. (Read more from “Armed Iranian National Detained Near Mar-A-Lago” HERE)

Trump Announces New Sanctions Against Iran

The Trump administration announced on Friday a series of new devastating sanctions against Iran which U.S. officials said would cut off billions of dollars from the Islamist terrorist regime.

The sanctions were announced by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during a press briefing at the White House and come in response to Iran’s latest attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq.

“First, the President is issuing an executive order authorizing the imposition of additional sanctions against any individual owning, operating, trading with, or assisting sectors of the Iranian economy, including construction, manufacturing, textiles, and mining,” Mnuchin began. “And let me be clear: These will be both primary and secondary sanctions. The EO also allows us to designate other sectors in the future as Secretary Pompeo and me think is appropriate.”

“Second, we are announcing 17 specific sanctions against Iran’s largest steel and iron manufacturers, three Seychelles-based entities, and a vessel involved in the transfer of products,” Mnuchin said. “As a result of these actions, we will cut off billions of dollars of support to the Iranian regime, and we will continue our enforcement of other entities.”

“Third, we are taking action against eight senior Iranian officials who advanced the regime’s destabilizing activity and were involved in Tuesday’s ballistic missile strike,” Mnuchin concluded. “Today’s sanctions are part of our commitment to stop the Iranian regime’s global terrorist activities. The President has been very clear: We will continue to apply economic sanctions until Iran stops its terrorist activities and commit that it will never have nuclear weapons.” (Read more from “Trump Announces New Sanctions Against Iran” HERE)

To the Liberal Media’s Dismay, There Will Be No Disastrous War With Iran; Trump Says Democrats Would Have Leaked Soleimani Attack Plans

By The Federalist. . .Mainstream outlets, suffering mightily from Trump derangement syndrome, practically rooted for a wider conflict with Iran in the hopes it might damage Trump, then evinced genuine disappointment when Iran backed down after half-heartedly lobbing a few short-range ballistic missiles in the direction of U.S. troops stationed in Iraq, which inflicted no casualties.

But just think what could have been! Three days ago, The Atlantic’s David A. Graham wrote a piece headlined, “It’s 2003 All Over Again,” in which he argues the recent killing of Iranian general Suleimani by U.S. missile strike last week is just like the runup to the 2003 invasion of Iraq under George W. Bush. . .

What a difference two days make. After a face-saving missile attack on an Iraqi airbase that houses some U.S. troops, which American officials were apparently told about in advance by Iraqi intermediaries, the fight seems to have gone out of Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif tweeted Tuesday night that Iran had “concluded proportionate measures” and that it does not “seek escalation”—an admission by Tehran that President Trump had called its bluff and the ayatollahs aren’t willing to risk a broader conflict. . .

On Wednesday, Trump confirmed that no U.S. troops were injured in the missile attack and that Iran now “appears to be standing down.” Instead of ratcheting up the bellicose rhetoric, Trump gave the Iranians an off-ramp, saying America “is ready to embrace peace with all who seek it,” and calling for new multilateral negotiations to replace the defunct 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

So far, all of this is very unlike the leadup to the Iraq War, let alone the beginning of World War III. To the media’s dismay, Trump isn’t turning into Bush, and Iran isn’t turning into Iraq. In fact, the entire saga has been deterrence-through-strength 101. Trump surgically took out the world’s number-one terrorist and successfully managed a de-escalation with Iran, but all the liberal media can muster in response is fear-mongering, dissimulation, and what amounts to a collective sneer at Trump and his supporters. Trump, at Ohio Rally, Says Democrats Would Have Leaked Soleimani Attack Plans

By Fox News. Flush with campaign cash and facing down a possible Senate impeachment trial, President Trump headlined his first major rally of the election year Thursday in Ohio — and almost immediately, the president capitalized on his order to take out Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani after the military leader was said to have orchestrated an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq.

In unequivocal terms, Trump slammed House Democrats’ nonbinding War Powers Resolution, which passed earlier in the day in a rebuke to the Soleimani strike. Trump went on to suggest that Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and “little pencil-neck” House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., would have tipped off the media about the operation had they known about it.

“They’re saying, ‘You should get permission from Congress, you should come in and tell us what you want to do — you should come in and tell us, so that we can call up the fake news that’s back there, and we can leak it,'” Trump said. “Lot of corruption back there.”

The president added that it would have been impractical to have alerted Congress, given the “split-second” nature of the decision to kill Soleimani.

Separately, Trump said he hoped former Vice President Joe Biden would become the Democrats’ presidential nominee, and pledged he would highlight what he called the Bidens’ corruption all throughout the campaign.

House Approves Resolution to Limit President Trump’s Authority to Take Military Action Against Iran

By The Blaze. A congressional resolution to limit President Donald Trump’s authority to take military against Iran without Congress passed the House of Representatives on Thursday.

The measure passed with a vote of 224 to 194.

Three Republicans voted for the measure, while eight Democrats voted against it. Independent Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) also voted in favor.

The measure says that the president should end military action in Iran after 30 days if he does not receive congressional approval.

Trump tweeted Thursday morning that he wanted all Republicans to vote against the measure.

“Hope that all House Republicans will vote against Crazy Nancy Pelosi’s War Powers Resolution,” he tweeted. (Read more from “House Approves Resolution to Limit President Trump’s Authority to Take Military Action Against Iran” HERE)

WATCH: Pelosi Says Eliminating Soleimani Is Like Assassinating the U.S. Vice President; Security Guard Charged With Threatening to Kill Trump in Retaliation for Soleimani

By Breitbart. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Thursday defended her opposition to the elimination of Iran’s top general and terrorist mastermind Qasem Soleimani by likening the action to a hypothetical assassination of the vice president of the United States.

The speaker expressed outrage upon the death of Soleimani, describing the Trump administration’s actions as “provocative and disproportionate.”

She doubled down on those sentiments during a press conference on Thursday, likening the elimination of the terrorist, who was responsible for the death of hundreds of Americans and injuries of thousands more, to an assassination of the vice president of the United States.

“The argument would be made that, putting the shoe on the other foot, if the United States had a high level — maybe the second most important person in the country — assassinated wherever, the United States might consider that an assault on our country,” she stated.

Florida Security Guard Charged With Threatening to Kill Trump in Retaliation for Soleimani

By Fox News. A Florida security guard is accused of threatening to kill President Trump in retaliation for a U.S. airstrike that killed Iran’s top military general last Friday.

Chauncy Lump, 26, from the Fort Lauderdale area, faces federal charges of threatening to kill the president and remained jailed Thursday with bond set at $100,000, according to court documents filed Wednesday by the Secret Service.

Agent Lucas White wrote that shortly after Trump announced last week that a U.S. airstrike had killed Qassem Soleimani in Iraq in retaliation for plotting numerous terrorist attacks, Lump, under the name “BlackMan vs. America,” began livestreaming a seven-minute video on Facebook.

During that video, agents say Lump made several threats against the president – who was staying at his Mar-a-Lago club, less than an hour away – while periodically displaying a loaded AK-47 semi-automatic rifle.
