Democratic Candidate, 19, Wins Primary After Admitting to Past Revenge Porn and Blackmailing Girl for Nude Photos

A 19-year-old Democratic candidate, who confessed that he carried out abusive behavior toward multiple girls in middle school, won his primary race for the Kansas state House of Representatives. Community college student Aaron Coleman won his primary despite confessing that he engaged in “bullying, revenge porn, and blackmail.” . . .

However, Coleman has baggage that has his own party questioning whether he is fit to serve office. During the campaign, he told former Republican state lawmaker John Whitmer that he would “laugh and giggle when you get COVID and die,” according to the Kansas City Star. . .

But there are far darker allegations against Coleman, who is accused of harassing girls online in middle school. The Kansas City Star released an editorial earlier this month that detailed the accusations against the progressive Democratic candidate. . .

The woman said Coleman’s abuse included “calling me fat, telling me to kill myself, like I’m never going to find anyone, like I’m worthless, just downgrading me every day.” . . .

Another young woman alleged that Coleman attempted to extort her with one of her nude photos when they were in middle school five years ago. (Read more from “Democratic Candidate, 19, Wins Primary After Admitting to Past Revenge Porn and Blackmailing Girl for Nude Photos” HERE)

Democrats Boost Weaker Republican Candidate in Kansas Primary

The Democratic establishment is spending big money to meddle in the Republican Senate primary in Kansas, using a super PAC to run advertising boosting immigration hawk Kris Kobach over GOP establishment favorite, Rep. Roger Marshall.

The super PAC is controlled by Democratic operatives linked to their party’s leadership, and Republicans say the move amounts to dirty tricks intended to elevate weaker Kobach and manipulate the outcome of the Aug. 4 primary.

Sunflower State PAC is investing nearly $1 million to air a television advertisement that promotes Kobach as a stalwart conservative allied with President Trump and that undercuts Marshall as a flip-flopper at odds with the White House.

“Chuck Schumer and his allies have spent millions bailing out their candidates in Democratic primaries, and now, Schumer has zeroed in on his preferred candidate in the Kansas GOP primary,” Jesse Hunt, spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said, referring to the Senate minority leader. “Kansas primary voters can see right through the New York liberal’s desperate attempt to prop up a losing candidate.”

Kansas leans Republican, especially in presidential elections. (Read more from “Democrats Boost Weaker Republican Candidate in Kansas Primary” HERE)

Report: Judge Blocks Democrat Kansas Governor’s Order Limiting Church Gatherings to 10 People

A Kansas federal court judge issued a temporary restraining order Saturday against a Democrat Kansas governor’s executive order limiting church gatherings to ten people at a time, according to a report.

The ruling came a week after the Supreme Court of Kansas sided with Democrat Gov. Laura Kelly, who saw her executive order get overruled by a Republican-led state legislature.

“We are in the middle of an unprecedented pandemic,” the governor said, according to the Associated Press. “This is not about religion. This is about a public health crisis.” She added that the ruling was “preliminary” and said she would be “proactive” about protecting the public during a public health crisis.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt, on the other hand, supported the court’s decision.

“Today’s judicial ruling is a much-needed reminder that the Constitution is not under a stay-home order and the Bill of Rights cannot be quarantined,” he said. “The Constitution protects our liberties especially during times of crisis, when history reveals governments too quick to sacrifice rights of the few to calm fears of the many.” (Read more from “Report: Judge Blocks Democrat Kansas Governor’s Order Limiting Church Gatherings to 10 People” HERE)

Kansas Official: Pandemic Isn’t a Problem Here Because There Are Few Chinese People

(Editor’s note: as is typical of the fake news media, things are always twisted for maximum effect against friends of Liberty, like Marvin Rodriguez. The below article is an example of that)

The chairman of the Riley County Commissioners suggested this week that the global coronavirus pandemic is not a problem locally because unlike in Italy, there are not a lot of Chinese people living in central Kansas, according to two other officials who attended the meeting Wednesday night. . .

Usha Reddi, the mayor of Manhattan, Kansas, went to the meeting hoping that the commissioners would declare an emergency, which they ultimately did. But what she heard from the chairman, Republican Marvin Rodriguez, was this: “I’m paraphrasing, but he said we don’t have a problem here because Italy has a lot of Chinese people, and we don’t have that problem here.”

Reached by phone, Rodriguez told The Star Editorial Board, “I didn’t necessarily say it like that.” So how did he say it? “Italy has a problem with its health department, first. It’s health for everybody. I have a friend in the Navy, and he said in that area” of Northern Italy where that country’s first cases were reported, “there’s a garment industry and a lot of Chinese. If we were like Italy, we’d have it already.” . . .

“Well, they say it came out of China,” he answered, “and I’m not putting it past the Chinese government in communist China.” Meaning, to export a virus on purpose? “Normally, this kind of thing spreads slowly,” he answered, so “I put two and two together. I’ve been around a long time, girl.”

He also said that his only public policy goal in saying all of this was to try to discourage panic. “We’re hurting a lot of people in Manhattan” by overreacting, he said. “Places are being shut down for no reason at all.” (Read more from “Kansas Official: Pandemic Isn’t a Problem Here Because There Are Few Chinese People” HERE)

Kansas Rep.: Second Amendment Is for Defeating Tyranny Not Hunting

Kansas Republican Rep. Ron Estes pulled no punches when describing the purpose of the Second Amendment during a panel discussion at CPAC 2020 on Friday.

“The primary goal of having a well regulated militia is to make sure we protect ourselves from the government,” he told his audience, distancing himself from those who support the right to bear arms for solely sporting purposes.

He also outlined “3 differents standpoints,” from which the Second Amendment can be understood. A person may choose to bear arms for defence against their fellow citizens, for hunting, or to resist tyranny, explained the congressman.

Estes was joined in this position by former Representative Brat who agreed that the Second Amendment “ain’t there for hunting folks, it’s there to protect us from tyrannical governments.” (Read more from “Kansas Rep.: Second Amendment Is for Defeating Tyranny Not Hunting” HERE)

Hero Crossing Guard Struck and Killed While Saving Two Grade School Kids in Kansas (VIDEO)

An 88-year-old crossing guard was struck and killed by a car but he’s being hailed as a hero because he saved the lives of two elementary school boys.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning near Christ the King Elementary School in Kansas City, Kansas.

“He saved two of our students today,” said principal Cathy Fithian. “I’m confident they would not be here if (he) had not stepped in and we are thankful, we feel very blessed to have had him in our lives for five years. We just pray for his family at this time.” . . .

The school later identified the crossing guard as Bob Nill. A neighbor to the school said he was well liked by the children, and that it was a shock that he died.

Kansas Lawmakers Unveil Pro-Life Constitutional Amendment to Undo the Court’s Absurd ‘Right to Abortion’ Decision

Less than a year after the Kansas Supreme Court declared in a 6-1 decision in Hodes & Nauser v. Schmidt that the state’s 150-plus-year-old constitution established a fundamental right to abortion, a coalition of pro-life organizations and legislators today announced efforts to undo the court’s decision by amending the Kansas Constitution.

At a Thursday morning press conference, Senate President Susan Wagle, Reps. Susan Humphries and Susan Concannon, and other members of the Kansas Legislature joined representatives from Family Policy Alliance of Kansas, Concerned Women for America of Kansas, Kansas Catholic Conference, and Kansans for Life to unveil the text of the proposed “Value Them Both” constitutional amendment designed to override the Hodes & Nauser decision.

The two-sentenced proposed amendment is simple in structure and meaning:

Because Kansans value both women and children, the constitution of the state of Kansas does not require government funding of abortion and does not create or secure a right to abortion. To the extent permitted by the United States Constitution, the people through their elected state representatives and state senators may pass laws regarding abortion, including, but not limited to, in circumstances of pregnancy resulting from rape or incest or when necessary to save the life of the mother.

For this amendment to take effect, both the Kansas Senate and House must approve the proposed constitutional amendment by two-thirds majority, at which point it will be placed on the ballot for voters to decide on passage based on a majority vote. Whether the amendment will appear on the August primary ballot or the general election ballot in November 2020 will be up to the legislature. Kansas Man Requests ‘Trial by Combat’ in Court

A Kansas man has requested that an Iowa court grant his motion for a “trial by combat” to settle a custody dispute with his ex-wife and her attorney on the battlefield.

David Ostrom, 40, of Paola, Kansas, has cited in court documents that his ex-wife, Bridgette Ostrom, 38, of Harlan, Iowa, has “destroyed (him) legally,” the Des Moines Register reported Monday.

The Carroll Times-Herald reported that Ostrom filed a request with the Iowa District Court in Shelby County to give him 12 weeks to source or forge Japanese swords used in battle. . .

Ostrom told the Register that he got the idea for the duel after he learned about a 2016 New York Supreme Court case in which New York Supreme Court Justice Philip Minardo said that duels had not been abolished under state law.

Ostrom said the motion began when he became frustrated with his ex-wife’s attorney, Matthew Hudson, saying he wanted to take the fight to “the field of battle where (he) will rend their souls from their corporal bodies.” (Read more from “Kansas Man Requests ‘Trial by Combat’ in Court” HERE)

Large Tornado Slams Kansas, Causes Extensive Damage

A tornado touched down in the vicinity of Kansas City, Kan., with significant damage reported west of the city on Tuesday, as the Midwest grapples with a slew of twisters that have wreaked havoc on several communities with no end in sight.

The National Weather Service (NWS) declared a tornado emergency for the area as the storm was approaching Interstate 70 near the Kansas Speedway, which hosts NASCAR races. Officials in Kansas City said they received a report of a tornado just after 6 p.m. that was on a path toward Lawrence, a city of about 100,000 residents and home to the University of Kansas’ main campus. . .

Major damage to homes was reported in Linwood, a 40-minute drive southwest of the city. Police blocked some roads around the city and the smell of gasoline soaked the air, the Kansas City Star reported.

The NWS later expanded the tornado warning to include all of the Kansas City area, including the Missouri side of the city. The Kansas City International Airport moved passengers and workers into garage parking tunnels, the airport tweeted. By 7:45 p.m., everyone was being brought up from shelter.

Kansas Supreme Court Rules That Abortion Is Protected by the State’s Constitution

The Kansas State Supreme Court ruled on Friday that laws restricting abortion go against the state’s constitution. Only one of the court’s seven justices dissented. . .

The court asked if the “equal and inalienable rights” granted by the Kansas Constitution’s Bill of Rights includes a woman’s right to make decisions about her body, including the decision whether to continue her pregnancy.” It determined that the answer to this was “yes.”

“The State may only infringe upon the right to decide whether to continue a pregnancy,” the court argued “if the State has a compelling interest and has narrowly tailored its actions to that interest.”

In his dissent, Kansas Supreme Court Justice Caleb Stegall argued that the ruling “fundamentally alters the structure of our government to magnify the power of the state” and accused the majority of painting “the interest in unborn life championed by millions of Kansans as rooted in an ugly prejudice.” . . .

There is no path for this ruling to be appealed. In 2014, however, voters from Tennessee amended that state’s constitution to clarify that the Tennessee state constitution did not prohibit the legislature from passing laws pertaining to abortion in response to a similar ruling from the Tennessee Supreme Court.
