Arizona GOP Chairman Resigns: Leaked Audio Exposes Alleged ‘Bribe’ and ‘Veiled Threats’ to Halt Kari Lake’s Political Ambitions

The Arizona Republican Party is facing a significant shakeup as its chairman, Jeff DeWit, resigned in the wake of a leaked audio scandal involving alleged attempts to “bribe” Kari Lake and veiled threats from “powerful people.” Kari Lake’s team has revealed the possibility of the release of more damaging recordings.

In the leaked audio, DeWit engages in a conversation with Kari Lake, discussing what it would take for her to “pause” her political ambitions. The dialogue reveals a complex web of alleged offers, implied bribes, and even suggestions that something harmful could happen to DeWit if he exposed these “powerful people.”

DeWit, in his resignation statement, acknowledged the authenticity of the audio but claims it is “selectively edited.” He expressed more concern about Lake recording their private conversation than the content itself in an attempt to downplay the seriousness of the released conversation. He now claims to have been set up.

However, the recording contradicts DeWit’s assertions of transparency, as he repeatedly states that the conversation “never happened.” The details of the recording, including implied bribes and the suggestion of potential harm, remain unaddressed by DeWit.

Facing an ultimatum from Lake’s team to resign or face the release of a “new, more damaging recording,” DeWit chose to step down.

The leaked audio captures a conversation where DeWit discusses “powerful people” opposing Lake’s political ambitions and implies a substantial bribe. Lake, however, vehemently rejects any offers, stating, “They’re gonna have to f***ing kill me to stop me.”

As the controversy unfolds, questions linger about the motivations behind the alleged attempts to influence Lake’s political decisions.

Arizona GOP’s Kari Lake to Announce Senate Bid

Arizona Republican Kari Lake, who was last year’s Republican gubernatorial nominee in the Grand Canyon State, will announce her candidacy for U.S. Senate during an October 10 rally in Phoenix.

The Wall Street Journal’s Elia Collins first reported on Lake’s plans on Thursday, having spoken with Lake about her forthcoming announcement.

“We need to get a senator in there who is going to fight back and put America first,” Lake told the outlet.

Lake, a former Fox 10 Phoenix anchor who left the news industry over liberal bias, joins Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb in the Republican primary field. Arizona’s 2022 GOP Senate nominee Blake Masters was reportedly weighing a run, but Collins noted former President Donald Trump spoke with Masters via phone call “and walked through Lake’s strengths in a GOP primary, according to people familiar with the call.” (Read more from “Arizona GOP’s Kari Lake to Announce Senate Bid” HERE)

There’s Another Huge Bombshell in Kari Lake’s Election Lawsuit

In a court filing from last week, “Governor” Katie Hobbs (D-Ariz.) requested that Kari Lake’s election lawsuit be thrown out, claiming that Lake failed to prove that Arizona voters were disenfranchised in the 2022 elections.

“Despite seven witnesses, hundreds of declarants, and thousands of pages of exhibits, Lake failed to demonstrate any violations of Arizona law and offered no evidence that absent alleged violations the outcome of the election would have been different,” the filing reads.

But on Monday, Lake’s team indicated that more evidence is on the way, and this evidence could be game-changing. . .

The new information was presented to the Arizona Senate Elections Committee by Maricopa County Republican Committee (MCRC) Vice Chair Shelby Busch.

“We received just a few weeks ago, January of 2023, the system log files from the tabulators that were used in Maricopa County on Election Day, along with the redacted CVR records. Through an analysis, we were able to determine that a quarter of a million ballot feeds [were] misread by those tabulators,” Busch explained. “There are approximately two tabulators in every polling Center, which means there were 446 tabulators with a quarter of a million voter attempt failures.”

As Republicans Launch New Legal Strikes, Arizona’s Largest County Says 4,849 Ballots Not Counted

Arizona Republican candidates Abe Hamadeh and Kari Lake have launched new legal maneuvers to contest the November election as the state’s largest county gave its most detailed explanation to date on why it did not count more than 4,800 provisional ballots cast two months ago.

Hamadeh, the GOP’s attorney general nominee. on Tuesday filed a motion for a new trial after a Mohave County Superior Court judge dismissed his and the Republican National Committee’s election challenge just before Christmas.

While Hamedeh lost Dec. 23, he forced into public new evidence of voting problems in Pinal County that even Arizona’s new Democrat secretary of state concedes was troubling. That new evidence is one focus of his request for a new trial.

“Today, I am filing a ‘Motion for New Trial’ after the shocking revelations from the recount,” Hamadeh tweeted Tuesday. “It’s simple, if the judge allows us to inspect and count the ballots – we win. Kris Mayes will either resign or be removed from office. Count the votes accurately.” . . .

Regarding the vote count discrepancy, Hamadeh told Turning Point USA President Charlie Kirk on The Charlie Kirk Show, that the judge in his case “was pushed around by the secretary of state, Katie Hobbs’, and Kris Mayes’ legal teams. That’s what I mean when I say I give Democrats credit. They intimidated this judge. They basically withheld information. They snookered him.” (Read more from “As Republicans Launch New Legal Strikes, Arizona’s Largest County Says 4,849 Ballots Not Counted” HERE)

Arizona Judge Approves Kari Lake’s Requests To Examine Midterm Ballots

A judge in Maricopa County, Arizona, has approved Republican Kari Lake’s requests to inspect some ballots before the trial in her challenge to the Arizona gubernatorial race results.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson issued a ruling Thursday that approved three of Lake’s four demands for inspecting random ballots from the county

The three types of ballots Thompson approved Lake’s team to review included 50 random “ballot-on-demand” printed ballots that were cast on Election Day, 50 random early ballots cast from “six separate Maricopa County batches,” and 50 random ballot-on-demand printed ballots that were marked as spoiled. Lake’s request to inspect 50 random early ballots from ballot envelopes was denied due to state law, per the judge.

Thompson ordered Lake’s team had until Friday, “December 15, 2022,” an apparent error in the date, at noon MST to submit a ballot inspector, who will be able to inspect the ballots beginning at 8 a.m. MST on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

The judge also specified that the inspection must be conducted in a manner that “does not in any way interfere with any ongoing recount of the 2022 election results.”

Arizona County Refuses to Certify Election Results, Threatening a GOP House Win

A county in Arizona is refusing to certify the results of its elections following Democratic statewide candidates winning in the state, which could flip a House seat won by a Republican to a Democratic win, according to the Associated Press.

The Board of Supervisors of Cochise County, Arizona, bordering Mexico and the U.S. state of New Mexico in Arizona’s Southeast, voted to not certify the official tally of votes in the general elections of Nov. 8, which saw Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona reelected to a full term and Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs elected the next Governor of Arizona.

A meeting of the board was held on Monday via Zoom, with the only agenda item being a motion to verify the results. In a voice vote, it received zero votes in favor and two votes against, with the Democratic chair not voting, resulting in an acclaimed failure among the three-member board.

Kari Lake Vows Larger Legal Challenge After 1st Election Lawsuit Filed

Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake said that she is planning a larger legal challenge than the one that her team filed against Maricopa County earlier this week.

“So we filed this lawsuit in court today asking the county to cough up some of the public documentation we need for our bigger lawsuit,” she told Just the News Wednesday. Lake added that she has not determined what the remedy of the lawsuit would be.

“Many people are saying they want a redo of Maricopa County. I’ve heard people say throw it out. We have not determined what the remedy is. But I don’t think you can fix what happened,” she said.

Lake, a Republican backed by former President Donald Trump, criticized how the County ran the election, saying “there were three-hour lines” in part caused by problems with the tabulation equipment at polling locations, in an interview with Newsmax.

Earlier this week, Lake’s team filed a lawsuit against Maricopa County that called for the release of the country’s election records. (Read more from “Kari Lake Vows Larger Legal Challenge After 1st Election Lawsuit Filed” HERE)
